Brooklyn Nets guard Jeremy Lin said Thursday he was grateful to former Nets star Kenyon Martin for a stinging racially overtoned rebuke about his new dreadlocks hairstyle. Lin, who outlined the reasons for wearing dreadlocks in a Players Tribune website essay on Tuesday, was called out for his choice in an Instagram posting by Martin, the top pick of the 2000 NBA Draft who helped the Nets twice reach the NBA Finals. (Snip) ´You want to be black. We get it. But the last name is "Lin."´ After receiving negative feedback and comments, Martin took to Instagram again to explain
Comments: Borderline illiterate black man with Chinese tattoos, and who made a fortune playing a sport invented by a white man, playing in buildings owned by white men, slams a Chinese man for a hairstyle that evokes one worn by black people. This is worth a read to marvel at the weapons-grade stupidity embodied by virulent black racists who, because of Black Privilege and the hostile climate created by Barry and George, are immune from criticism.
Has anyone ever read articles on how to create and maintain dreadlocks? I always wondered how one would keep them from being smelly because hair seems to retain odors. The article I read went into great detail about not letting them get moldy. Yikes!
Graciousiousness meets illiterate. What a contrast but then we do have this stereotype that has proven accurate time after time. The Chinese have shown class and intellect and have been a valued part of our general culture for a long time now. Jeremy Lins smile lasts all day. What a gentleman.
This is actually quite amusing to me, considering the black community has no problem with appropriating our straight hair, and blonde or ginger hair color. Does that make them less black?
Dreads are horrible on black scalps. Remember Melissa Harris Perry on MSNBC? If you compare photos from her earlier broadcasting career to just before she started wearing wigs, you can see she lost a good 2-3 inches of the front of her hair, and that is permanent balding.
If they are getting moldy, it is because of poor hygiene. Dreads can be washed like any other head of hair.
Once again, a Seinfeld episode is on point. Remember Donna Chang, the Jewish girl from Long Island, who intervened to save the marriage of George Costanza´s feuding parents? Until Mrs. Costanza met Donna Chang in person? "You´re not Chinese!"
Monrovia, Liberia — Faith Sayeh blamed the Red Cross for the death of her husband and two children during the 2014 Ebola outbreak that claimed thousands of lives here. “I lost my husband and two sons because there were no health workers to give them treatment,” the teary-eyed widow said. (Snip) Ms. Sayeh was referring to the shocking report by International Red Cross auditors in November that $6 million was lost to fraud and corruption during the Ebola epidemic in West Africa from March 2014 to January 2016. The auditors discovered overpriced supplies, salaries for nonexistent aid workers and fake
This is the moment that women from Warren Jeffs´ polygamous sect were caught in an FBI sting playing their part in a $11 million food stamps fraud scheme. The women, wearing the old fashioned, long dress favored by members of the Fundamentalist LDS Church, were caught on undercover surveillance footage, shopping at Meadowayne Dairy in Hildale, Utah. (Snip) Prosecutor Robert Lund asked for the maximum five-year sentence to send a message to Lyle Jeffs and other sect leaders that a ´culture of corruption´ in recent years won´t be tolerated. Lyle Jeffs was also ordered to pay $1million in restitution.
Quetta, Pakistan — Two suicide bombers attacked a church in the Pakistani city of Quetta on Sunday, killing eight people and wounding 42 others, officials said. Sarfaraz Bugti, home minister for the southwestern Baluchistan province, said hundreds of worshippers were attending services at the church ahead of Christmas. He said the attackers clashed with security forces, with one assailant killed at the entrance while the other made it inside. Baluchistan police chief Moazzam Ansari praised the response of security forces guarding the church, saying the attacker who made it inside was wounded and unable to reach the main building.
Legalizing 2 million illegal immigrant “Dreamers” would cost the government $25.9 billion over the next decade, as those now-legal people would claim more tax, education and other benefits they haven’t been able to get before, the Congressional Budget Office said Friday. The CBO also said newly legalized Dreamers would sponsor 80,000 more immigrants to enter the country as part of “chain migration.” Immigrant-rights activists have argued that legalizing Dreamers would be a financial boon to the country, but the CBO and the Joint Committee on Taxation suggested otherwise, saying that while they would pay somewhat
The Trump administration is striking seven words and phrases — including “science-based” and “diversity” — from official budget documents, according to a Friday report. Analysts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say they were given a list of terms that are now banned from any budgetary requests sent to the Trump White House, according to The Washington Post. The forbidden language includes “entitlement,” “transgender,” “fetus,” “vulnerable,” and “evidence-based,” the paper reported. The now-taboo terms will not be used in official documents from the Atlanta institute, which issues reports on health promotion and disease prevention in the United States.
Norman, Okla. — An Oklahoma judge on Friday sentenced a man to death for beheading a co-worker in 2014 at a food processing plant. Cleveland County District Judge Lori Walkley accepted a jury’s recommendation of the death penalty over life in prison without parole for Alton Nolen, 33. Jurors earlier this year convicted him of decapitating 54-year-old Colleen Hufford when he attacked her and others at the Vaughan Foods plant. His attorneys argued that he is mentally ill and that he believed he was doing the right thing because of his delusional misinterpretations of the Quran.
The San Francisco SPCA, a non-profit whose mission is “to save and protect animals … and enhance the human-animal bond,” is reportedly doing just the opposite with its latest robot security guard. (Snip) “We weren’t able to use the sidewalks at all when there’s needles and tents and bikes, so from a walking standpoint I find the robot much easier to navigate than an encampment,” Jennifer Scarlett, the SPCA’s president, said in an interview with the San Francisco Business Times. After the SPCA implemented the robot, Scarlett said homeless encampments disappeared and fewer cars were broken into. She added that
Cheyenne, Wyo. — Wyoming’s secretary of state and a potential 2018 candidate for governor on Thursday denied a woman’s claim he sexually attacked her over 35 years ago as “unequivocally false.” Tatiana Maxwell of Boulder, Colorado, wrote in a Facebook post Monday that Murray wrestled her to the ground, lifted up her shirt and ejaculated on her stomach after they had met up after hours at the law office where they worked. (Snip) Maxwell is a significant donor to the Democratic Party but she insisted her accusation against Murray was “really, strictly personal” and in no way political. Murray, 59, a Republican,
Birmingham, Ala. — U.S. senate elect Doug Jones won big with the African American vote. According to the Washington Post Jones got 96% of the African American vote. 93% of the men voted for him. African American women led the vote at 98%. DeJuana Thompson helped organize a program called “Woke Vote.” Organizers targeted hundreds of African American churches, businesses and college students at HBCUs (Historically Black College & Universities) statewide. (Snip) Other group partners also made a push to get votes from those in jail. “We got over 3000 absentee ballots from inmates who still had the right to
Bill and Hillary Clinton forced the Secret Service to undermine itself by ´systematically destroying´ the rules that were put in place for their protection, a former officer who guarded them claims. In his new book, New York Times best-selling author Gary Byrne writes that the Secret Service was nearly undone by serving the Clintons with ´blind loyalty´ which they took advantage of for their own gain. Agents were allegedly forced to collude with the Clintons in the ´Chinagate´ campaign finance scandal in 1996 by ignoring the contents of brown paper bags brought into the White House by Chinese officials.
Republican Roy Moore refused to conceded the special election race after news networks called the race for Democrat Doug Jones, saying the race is “not over” and that God is on his side. Mr. Moore and his campaign said the margin of Mr. Jones’ lead is likely to trigger a recount under state law because could end up being less than half a percentage point. “When the vote is this close, it is not over,” Mr. Moore told his supporters at his election night rally. (Snip) With 99 percent of the precincts counted, Mr. Jones held a 49.9 percent to
Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm whose Democrat-financed Russia dossier fueled an FBI investigation into Donald Trump, pitched other stories about the Republican presidential candidate to Washington reporters, including an attempt to tie him to a convicted pedophile who was once buddies with former President Bill Clinton. Journalist sources told The Washington Times that Fusion founder Glenn Simpson pushed the idea of a close relationship between Mr. Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, who pleaded guilty in 2008 to soliciting sex from an underage girl. The Trump-Epstein link appears purely social, far short of Mr. Clinton’s 20-plus plane rides on Epstein’s “Lolita Express”
Over 700 employees at the Environmental Protection Agency have quit or taken early retirement during the Trump administration so far, bringing the agency close to employment levels not seen since Reagan. ThinkProgress, whose senior editor is scared of his plumber who he fears may have voted for Trump, is warning that the exodus will lead to "dirtier air" and "dirtier water." "Since Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt took over the top job at the agency in March, more than 700 employees have either retired, taken voluntary buyouts, or quit, signaling the second-highest exodus of employees from the agency in nearly a
An MSNBC spokesman confirmed Saturday the company made a separation-related payment to one of Chris Matthews employees after the woman complained about sexual harassment. Two sources familiar with the situation told The Daily Caller that Matthews paid $40,000 to settle with an assistant producer on his show, “Hardball with Chris Matthews,” in 1999 after she accused him of harassment. An MSNBC spokesperson contested that claim to the Caller, saying the company instead paid significantly less as part of a severance package. The woman complained to CNBC executives about Matthews making inappropriate comments and jokes about her while in the company
There’s bad news and there’s worse news for President Donald Trump in new polls released this week. First comes the latest round of polling showing that Trump is the most unpopular president on record. Just 32% of respondents to a new Associated Press-NORC poll said they approved of the job Trump is doing as president, while an overwhelming 67% they disapproved. Among those who don’t think the president is doing a good job, more than half say they “strongly disapprove” of his work. The poll — conducted earlier this month — also suggests that nearly 70% of Americans believe the United States is “heading
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is returning to Arizona and will miss the final vote on his party’s tax bill this week, CBS News reported Sunday. McCain, who has been hospitalized at Walter Reed Medical Center suffering from the side effects of his treatment for brain cancer, reportedly left Washington, D.C., on Sunday to return home for the holidays. This means he will not be in D.C. for the GOP tax bill vote, which is expected to take place early in the week. Republicans have won over two key votes for the measure, meaning they should still have the razor-thin majority needed to
I don’t know whether this is comedy or a sign that in rural America, Democrats really don’t have anyone to run in statewide races. There were rumors that Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) could become the next director of the CIA, current CIA Director Mike Pompeo would become secretary of state, and current Secretary of State Rex Tillerson would be asked to take a hike. Talk about some unwelcome Thanksgiving news if you’re Tillerson. The Trump White House has rejected the notion that this plan is in the works. Tillerson himself said he’s never considered leaving his current post.
Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) suggested Thursday that Americans need to have more babies or risk a collapse of popular entitlements like Medicare and Social Security. “This is going to be the new economic challenge for America: people. Baby boomers are retiring — I did my part, but we need to have higher birth rates in this country,” Ryan, a father of three, told reporters as he riffed on how Republicans will tackle entitlement and welfare reform in 2018. “Baby boomers are retiring and we have fewer people following them in the workforce.
For much of the year, Kirsten Gillibrand’s critics — sensing a presidential aspirant in their midst — had assumed that the New York senator could not hear enough about herself. For one day at least, it appeared she had. It had been about 10 hours since President Trump accused her of “begging” for campaign contributions that she “would do anything” to secure, and the Ms. Gillibrand, driving with her 14-year-old son on Tuesday evening, flipped on the radio looking for an update on the Senate race in Alabama. The top story, instead, was her. The radio went off again. What, exactly,
Democrats, who have a monopoly of power in California politics, are proposing to spend $1 billion a year to provide health care to illegal immigrants living in the state. Medi-Cal, which is the state’s Medicaid program, would eliminate legal residency requirements. The proposal was offered as part of a $4.3 billion proposal from San Francisco Democrat Assemblyman Phil Ting, the head of the Assembly budget committee. According to NBC Bay Area, 7% of people residing in California lack health coverage, many of them illegal immigrants. California has already eliminated legal residency requirements for Medicaid coverage for
Hillary Clinton responded to a "Saturday Night Live" actor who showed off a new tattoo in the former Democratic presidential nominee´s likeness.Pete Davidson posted an image of his new Hillary ink on his Instagram page, saying it was a "gift" for the 2016 runner-up."Wanted to get @HillaryClinton a Christmas gift so I got a tattoo of my hero," Davidson, 24, wrote on Instagram. "Thanks for being such a bad-[expletive] and one of the strongest people in the universe," he wrote. (Tweet) Clinton later commented on Davidson´s post, thanking him for his support."Thanks," the former first lady wrote. "This makes it
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is “worried” the House Intelligence Committee is about to pull the plug on the Russia investigation. In a Friday Tweetstorm, the Committee’s ranking Democrat fretted about the future of the probe — which Schiff believes is something of a sham. “Republicans have scheduled no witnesses after next Friday and none in 2017,” Schiff wrote. “We have dozens of outstanding witnesses on key aspects of our investigation that they refuse to contact and many document requests they continue to sit on.” The California Democrat added, “It appears Republicans want to conduct just enough interviews to give the
O.J. Simpson´s former lawyer and an investigator who worked on his case have revealed plans for a book they say will finally put to rest the public´s disbelief that he was acquitted of murder. F.Lee Bailey was one of several lawyers who worked on Simpson´s case in the 1990s. (Snip) Now 84, Bailey and Pat McKenna, the investigator who the defense hired, are shopping a book to publishers which they say will finally address what millions have been incredulous over for decades - how did OJ get off? ´We’re not writing this to make a fortune. ´We’re writing this to
The Democracy Dies in Darkness Café is located conveniently near the Capitol, the Hill and the FBI headquarters. It’s open all night and I stopped in for a late-night coffee with my friend, a fiction novelist who was depressed. “I spent a year writing about a coup attempt against an outsider who by strategic brilliance defeated the handpicked candidate of a cabal of establishment powerhouses. It involved the highest officials of the FBI and Department of Justice. They manipulated a FISA Court into letting them electronically surveil the candidate and all who worked with him, unmasked their names, leaked what
