Green Bay Packers lock arms
during anthem; fans chant ´USA, USA´

GREEN BAY - Chants of "U-S-A! U-S-A!" reverberated around Lambeau Field on Thursday as the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears stood to observe the national anthem. Players and coaches from both teams locked arms on their respective sidelines. No one sat and no one kneeled. The decision by the Packers to lock arms was meant as a display of unity, a message made public through a statement crafted by the players earlier this week. They encouraged fans to do the same, and while the anthem proved to be uneventful, the majority of spectators did not link arms with their

This is what really happened. I caught the very end of the Anthem and then watched Rodgers hugging other teammates, but when he turned and walked away I saw him look down and shake his head in disappointment. Now I know why.

Pretty hard to place your hand over your heart when your arms are locked.

The proper physical stance to honor the National Anthem and the American Flag is to rise to your feet, face the American flag and to place your right hand over your heart.

Very simple easy to follow instructions. There is no kneeling and no locking of arms. To do anything other than the appropriate acknowledgment is to disrespect the tradition of honoring the flag and anthem.

You tried to pull a fast one last night and it did not pass the smell test with the American people. I watched just long enough to see how stupid they looked and then went to bed. Time to institute the rules of the NFL and start fining people for anything less than the accepted norm and start donating the fines to the Red Cross.

I used to care. It´s refreshing now. I´m still getting used to this.

I turned on the game a couple times, and I was strangely detached. Not even sad, just detached, and also refreshed.

It´s been a long time since I broke-up with anyone. I feel now, like I was in an abusive relationship that just ended. Sorry NFL, it´s not me, it´s you. USA over NFL any day. And, All Lives Matter over BLM too.

This whole situation is designed to stir crap and trouble. There´s no win because no matter what anyone decides to do, someone is going to be ticked off.

I like the approach the players took. They tried to unify people toward something positive rather than negative. Rodgers was right...we get to choose whether we wanted to join them or not. I wouldn´t have but I´m not angry about it. I can disagree unemotionally and move on with the rest of my life.

There are many good, patriotic players and teams and management whom I won´t punish for the actions of a few idiots who surround them. I haven´t let the LGBTQ movement steal my love of the original Biblical meaning of rainbows and I don´t plan to let anyone steal my love of football. I will not give anyone that kind of power over my life.

And by the way, I´m a veteran.

Lock arms was meant as a display of unity. What unity. What are these idiots talking about. First it was police brutality, then it was social injustice now its a show of unity. Unity for what. Unity for players who are arrested every week for various crimes. Unity for players who have no respect for our country, out flag, our anthem or our military. They blew it, they know it and are now trying to change it. Screw´em all. Got it.

Nice try. Almost made it work. I saw a few that had arm locked but still close to over their heart. It was ... awkward to say the least.

I give this about another week of trying to be "unified" before this whole thing falls off the front pages so to speak. And players will be standing or not, but if not.. it´s only going to hurt them and prove who they are. They may go the way Kaepernick did. And I say, good riddance.

I don´t want to see political statements in my sports, my TV shows, or movies. Being patriotic is not being political.... unless you are a liberal weasel.

If these players are sincere, then let them become better role models for American youth, when the players are off the field. Players could live more admirable lives (an average of one NFL player a week is arrested for drugs or assault or drunkenness, etc.). NBA players could stop impregnating multiple women to whom they are not married. Players could end their endorsement of athletic shoes that are far beyond the means of so many young people (and cost a tiny fraction of their selling price to manufacture). If players are truly concerned about what are unarguably tragic conditions in America´s inner cities, all of the above would be a constructive beginning.

I love the advice to "skip the game" from folks who have no dough on the line. If a working couple has $300 invested in a season ticket for a pair of middling seats (not to mention "seat licenses" and other fees), who´s going to cover the $2400 loss they´d take?

Establish a Fundme account for "refunds", and burn the tickets.

I am so, so pleased the president took a stand on this!

It is up to us to set this straight.

The NFL is infiltrated (we knew this from years ago. The former community organizer said he was going to do as much). They are not going to change. The owners are afraid of the players.

So...WE will get the job done. No football players are going to tear down our America. We stand, hand over our hearts, for our flag and Anthem. Period.

I could be wrong, but I have a feeling this whole business of what is being done during the anthem is about to blow over. Most seem to have had their say and want to move on. I´m still going to watch the games I´m interested in, and I´m really enjoying hearing Tony Romo calling the games. The stadium seemed full last night and the fans were enthusiastic. Maybe the kneelers can now do something constructive like solve the problem of black on black crime.

There are two reasons for USA chants. They are in response to someone being pro-American or someone being anti-American. We already know where the NFL stands.

Fans love to hate someone. Just look at the WWE. Congratulations NFL. You are now a villain.

All the little disappointed NFL fans are just "thrilled" that their favorite players are "standing" for the National Anthem... how sad, since men stand to pee. Standing just means you´re alive and well... placing one´s RIGHT HAND over one´s HEART is a pledge of loyalty to whatever it is you´re looking at. THAT is what´s important. Looking around, closing your eyes, talking, fidgeting, all that is WRONG!

"Unity" in this case means unity with the thugs, racists, hate-filled BLM and similar groups.

It´s unity with those hating our military and police.

The whole arm-locking unity garbage is even more offensive to me than the kneeling and sitting. At least you could tell who the bad guys were when they kneeled. But when they all join arms, that hides the most evil and takes them all down.

Not that I will ever see this, since I will NEVER watch another second of the NFL or NBA again in my life. I am done!!!

This is really, really simple. Stand straight and tall, face the flag, put your right hand over your heart.

Anything else is disrespectful.

As to "unity", what the hell is he talking about? Unity with the slugs who disrespected the anthem? Unity with the BLM racist haters?
Get more specific than the BS "unity" and maybe we can have a discussion, even possibly agree.

But mealy mouthed, unspecified "unity" - is that unity with Louis Farrakhan or unity with the Founding Fathers? Not even close to the same thing.

The U.S. Army has stopped enlisting some immigrants who are legal permanent residents while mandating lengthy delays for others, part of a controversial effort across the military to tighten security in the ranks by subjecting foreign-born recruits to tougher background checks. Implemented late last week, the new policy halts indefinitely all enlistments involving green-card holders seeking to join the Army Reserve and National Guard, which is a part-time military service commitment. "We believe everyone should stand for the national anthem. That´s an important part of our policy," Goodell said in a press conference Wednesday in New York. But Goodell said he would not commit to making a rule stating players must stand for the anthem. "Our players will state to you publicly they are not doing this in any way to be disrespectful to the flag," Goodell said. He said the league is "not looking to get into politics, but what

As National Football League owners and players’ union representatives meet in New York today and tomorrow to discuss the players’ recent demonstrations — the kneeling, linking arms or raising fists during the national anthem — they should know how the law views these protests. This will not only tell them what the league lawfully can do; it also will reveal something about American values. There has been some confusion about the law and the anthem protests. Because the First Amendment generally treats government and corporate power differently, allowing a business to impose on its workers what the government

George W. Bush hinted Thursday at his dissatisfaction with Donald Trump, complaining in a New York City speech that ´bullying and prejudice´ has become a caustic norm in American public life. At an event hosted by the George W. Bush Institute, the 43rd U.S. president rattled off a thinly veiled litany of complaints about the current commander-in-chief, focusing on both his tone and his isolationist policy choices. ´Our young people need positive role models,´ he said. ´Bullying and prejudice in our public life sets a national tone, provides permission for cruelty and bigotry, and compromises the moral education of children.´

Clinton Scandals: For well over a year now, the progressive left in the Democratic Party have tried hard to sell the idea that, a) Russia meddled in our election, and, b) that it was to the detriment of Hillary Clinton. After nearly a year and a half of investigating, neither appears true. What is true, and now documented, is that Hillary Clinton and her family foundation both benefited handsomely from Russian corruption. Citing federal officials and government documents, The Hill details the Russians´ nuclear-industry corruption here in the U.S., citing extensive evidence that "Russian nuclear industry officials were engaged in bribery,

Someone within the Obama administration’s intelligence apparatus made requests to unmask the identity of Americans named in intelligence reports on behalf of Samantha Power, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. That’s what Power told the House Intelligence Committee last week during a closed-door interview. South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy revealed in an interview on Fox News on Tuesday that Power was “emphatic” on the point that someone else in the Obama administration made the unmasking requests that have been attributed to her. Fox News recently reported that Power made approximately 260 unmasking requests — a rate of one per business day

Sen. John McCain exploded on Fox News’ Peter Doocy on Wednesday for asking him if he would oppose everything that President Trump asks him to do. Doocy asked Sen. McCain if his relationship with the president is “so frayed” that McCain would “not support anything that he comes to you and asks for?” McCain snapped, “Why would you say something that stupid? Why would you ask something that dumb?” “My job as a United States senator — you mean I am somehow going to behave in a way that I’m going to block everything because of some personal disagreement?” McCain said incredulously.

Damning new evidence appears to show that Hillary Clinton used her office as Secretary of State to confer benefits to Russia in exchange for millions of dollars in donations to her foundation and cash to her husband. But there’s more. It seems it was all covered up for years by the same three people who are now involved in the investigation of President Donald Trump over so-called Russian “collusion.” (Snip) What’s more, Holder was a member of the “Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States” which approved the uranium sale to the Russians in 2010.

A Massachusetts elementary school has canceled its Halloween events and is celebrating ´black and orange spirit day´ instead. Boyden Elementary School´s principal sent a letter to parents this week saying that it had decided to cancel its traditional Halloween parade on October 31 because it was ´not inclusive of all students´ and was ´difficult´ for many. Without specifying which students the parade excluded, Principal Brendan Dearborn said the school would instead hold a ´black and orange spirit day´.  Children are allowed to dress in those colors but cannot come to school in costume. They are however allowed to wear costumes to an

Meghan McCain gave an interview on Tuesday where she responded to President Trump‘s warning towards her father after his speech against “spurious nationalism.” In a Good Morning America interview with George Stephanopoulos, McCain noted that Trump and her father clearly have different ideas about the best direction of the country. She went on to declare that she’s “exhausted” with the GOP’s infighting and the attacks against her dad after all the challenges he has already faced. “I don’t know if you guys have heard but my father is fighting glioblastoma right now and there’s nothing that could possibly happen or

President Trump lashed out on Twitter against the Florida congresswoman who said he told a soldier’s widow that her husband “must’ve known what he signed up for,’ saying she “fabricated” the account. “Democrat Congresswoman totally fabricated what I said to the wife of a soldier who died in action (and I have proof). Sad!” Trump wrote on the social messaging site on Tuesday. Rep. Frederica Wilson, a Democrat, said she was riding in the car with Myeshia Johnson, the widow of Army Sgt. La David T. LeBron James has been more vocal about topics beyond basketball this offseason—most notably his criticisms of President Donald Trump—and it seems that’s by design. GQ magazine dropped a story about James on Tuesday, the opening day of the NBA’s regular season, that follows the Cleveland Cavalier superstar throughout a series of offseason meetings and events. The article sketches the 32-year-old as he looks toward his post-NBA life and relinquishes the identity of perhaps the best athlete in the world. James’ willingness to take on Trump, whom the star famously called a “bum” on Twitter, hints he’s after something bigger than just basketball.
