At a Friday rally in Alabama, President Donald Trump criticized football players who protest during the national anthem: Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a b-tch off the field right now. Out. He’s fired. He’s fired!’ (Snip)Here are five reasons the NFL anthem protests are not going as well as the media would like to think. 1. Vague And Unclear Protest Goals One of the keys to a good protest is to have a clear goal. If the discussions on Sunday were any indication, nobody is entirely clear
Even in Kaepernick’s lengthy press conference last year, it was a bit unclear what the goals of the protest action are, or what it would take to declare victory and cease protesting. At that press conference, Kaepernick unfortunately wore a T-shirt of photos commemorating Malcolm X meeting Fidel Castro. As the better half wrote last year:
The biggest problem here is that Kaepernick is seemingly unaware of Castro’s legacy. Aside from Castro dragooning and executing Christians and gays, Castro’s record on racial justice is decidedly not ‘woke’, as the Internet likes to say. While Cuba’s legacy of racism predates Castro, it’s safe to say overt racism against individuals of African ancestry there remains far more pronounced than it is in the United States. In fact, racism is kind of an unstated official policy.
The left has made a lot of gains by yelling racism whenever anyone criticizes something that blacks are a part of. It started with Obama who declared everything racist in order to get his way. This is not about racism; it is about patriotism. If these athletes do not like our flag or America, they have enough money to move on to a Communist nation. Just stop the madness!
I wish that some protest supporting owner would put money up to buy the quarterbacking services of Colin K. because I would like to see what the guy can do. My guess is that ithis would have the welcome effect of removing a talking point from ESPN and JayZ while proving an embarrassment to the team owner and head case Colin K. -- unless the opposing teams agreed to take a knee instead of sacking the heroic NFL protest leader.
I understand that the players who ´take a knee´ think this is a protest, but what are they protesting? What do they think ´taking a knee´ to disrespect the flag and national anthem will accomplish? They are just overgrown uneducated brats. Now that they have our attention, what are they going to do to solve this ´problem´ or whatever it is they want?
Note to Roger Goodell and all the owners: How can you possibly afford to alienate more than half the people of this country with this unpatriotic display? This is professional stupidity at the PhD level. Count this former fan out for the season.
Majority of the NFL players can´t survive in the real world. They don´t have the right temperament, the proper work ethics, the respect for social orders, the logic of connecting the dots, the prudence of planning ahead, the conscience of right and wrong, and the character of civility. You can blame AMERICA for who and what they are. Even the domesticated wild animal will someday bite the hands that feeds them.
If I we´re the owners, I´d be reviewing the collective bargaining agreement and determine appropriate actions for those who kneeled. Includes you, Kapie.
In my company, there is zero-tolerance for politicizing and agitating on company time. For the 200+ players who knealed, suspension or termination is the appropriate outcome. I see that at least one head coach and staff (Tomlin and his staff) sided with the players. Appropriate discipline including termination.
As usual the media believe we are all as thrilled as they are to see public displays of disrespect toward our country. I´m kind of bummed to be sitting out football season but standing up for what you believe sometimes demands sacrifice. I cannot and will not support this.
Kneeling is not a protest unless you want to call it a sissy protest.
All liberals know that a real protest consists of arming yourself with a baseball bat and bottles of urine (to throw at the police), and anything else that you cam use as a weapon. You have to be able to smash windows, trash cars, set fires and loot tennis shoe stores. Anything less than this is done by sissies !!! Do you get that football boys?
Origins of the protest: Obama to Holder to BLM to Kaepernick to NFL.
Speaking about Obama, where is he? Where is Holder? Where are our vaunted racial healers? Didn´t they want a conversation about race with the white cowards? Short answer, No. They are proponents of Alinsky. You use concocted racial tensions for personal gain.
Their problem is that the fans have much stronger First Amendment rights because their numbers are in the millions and they control the purse strings. Very stupid move on the NFL´s part. Goodell may have lots of money but the loss of face when the league fails and goes bankrupt will end his joyride and all those ignorant traitors who hate America can hate it just as well from the unemployment line.
Mr. Trump´s comments caused Goodell and the owners (even Jerry Jones last night) to think this is about the NFL, citing "disrespect" for their Grand Institution. This is missing the point by a mile. The players, owners, and teammates taking a knee are doing it in solidarity with their teammates, and have missed the larger issue.
The solution is staring us right in the face and is so obvious!
In our family we stand for the National Anthem whenever and where ever it is played this includes the games on the TV at home.
It is my understanding that in the NFL "rules" book it states that players are required to stand for the national anthem, remove their helmets and face the flag with hand over heart or at their sides or face a LARGE $$$ penalty.
Well....then those who refuse to stand and show respect for the flag and our national traditions are to be fined the maximum penalty each and every time they do it and all money collected will be donated to the Red Cross.
Trust me as their wallets thin they will cease to "protest". It´s kind of like paying for a permit to protest in a city or town. You have to get a permit for it. Well, this is the cost of the permit.
I understand and respect the 1st amendment and that said there is a time and a place for everything. Kneeling during the National Anthem is neither the time nor the place to "protest" anything. I an very curious to know how many of those kneeling are volunteering in their communities on their days off and exactly how much they are donating to charities and causes of their choices.
You get much more done standing than down on one knee. I believe it is all showboating.
AS a person of faith, I do understand what is going on here. I had a similar situation happen to me awhile back. I accepted a job as a Sunday School Director and found out within weeks that I was expected to cover up anything that said Jesus or God after classes ended. Why? Because a non-Christian preschool rented the space. I said no and I knew why I was saying no.
Do these NFL players and owners know what they are protesting because I don´t. Are they protesting America, President Trump, poverty, police, or what?
I will say this that it has shown me how deeply embedded football is on a Sunday when we could be taking in a beautiful church service (the real ones), spending time with our children and grandchildren, taking in the beauty of this wonderful country, or whatever. Contrast that with these ego-filled, outrageously paid players and owners telling us hard-working, tax-paying American citizens how we should be living. By the way, if these players and owners are so concerned about poverty and oppression, why don´t they share their wealth. These includes celebrities. How often do we hear about players and celebrities getting caught up in drugs and alcohol? What a waste of money. . .
Last year I boycotted one team at a time that had players taking a knee or sitting during the National Anthem. San Francisco and the Baltimore Ravens were first. This year the National Thugball League made it simple, all of them are boycotted by me now. You can insult me once but you can´t insult me twice. I´m an American first and watching these heathens playing is supporting their actions so I bow out. As for brain injuries that could only help the brain dead idiots because they show no thought process now so an injury is an enhancement.
These useful idiots have been tricked by the Left and the MSM into protesting the results of the election held on Nov 8, 2016. They don´t know it but everyone else does. Insulting the Old Glory and the Star Spangled Banner is a losing proposition even from those who have been genuinely oppressed. For these overpaid sc*****s, way beyond the pale!

Here is some history to think about. This started the Sunday before the final cut last year. KK had a good idea he would be cut. So he did the protest and let everyone know about it. He felt that it would be impossible for the team to cut him because he was a black protesting injustice to blacks.
He was right. Instead of cutting a player who wasn´t able to make the team on merit they opened Pandora´s box.
Here´s a clue...this isn´t a protest, it´s a big FU. They have finally found something that really pizzes us off and now they´re going to double and triple down on it because they like how much it´s pizzing us off.
Who is the "us" they´re flipping off? It´s those who love our anthem, our flag, our country, our military, our judeo-christian religion, our values and traditions, our constitution, etc., etc, They hate us. They really, really do.
In short, they´re not on our team. WE are their enemy.
Respecting the flag and anthem says you are one of "us". You have been integrated into our society.
Kneeling says the opposite.
The work of Baptist minister (remember?) Martin Luther King is being undone, because those whose status he fought to advance have abandoned the Christian principles (including "render unto Caesar") that were central to his non-violent approach.
Congratulations, kneelers: you are effectively re-segregating our society. You have exposed the disconnect between the racial makeup of the players, and the racial makeup of the fans.
I´ve decided to start a protest of my own. And anyone else can join. My protest is simple. I won´t watch any NFL game or go to any of their games. And I suspect that the loss of money will get their attention.
On the Stewart Varney show this AM they were reading what it states in the players contract: stand at attention, hold helmet in left/right hand (I forgot which) when the national anthem is played and the flag raised...... So what´s the beef??? If a stewardess were to do what these people do she would be fired. These guys are overpaid prima donnas who suddenly feel they should educate the viewing public what poor slobs they are! Perhaps the NFL should make it mandatory that they play not espouse political or other issues as their platform!
FTA: ´The league also faces problems with the high levels of brain injury players face´ How can we tell?
And no, they don´t have First Amendment rights when acting as representatives of their employers. The First only prevents the government from banning speech. I can conclude that the owners agree with what the players are doing to their franchise incomes.
Off the field and out of uniform they can do what they want (and suffer the consequences)
Has it dawned on anyone yet that football maybe finished in America - that right now it´s in it´s death throws. With brain injuries and parents not wanting their children to play, this behavior of the players and some owners might mean the end. I won´t be watching anymore, and I just started to watch it.
Are the protestors protesting racism and racial injustice, or are they protesting the national anthem and the United States? Since the protests are managed by a bunch of anti-American radical leftists, the answer is the latter. From that perspective, is it any surprise millions of people are telling them where to go? Do blacks and the NFL really hate America? If so, shame on them. If not, they need to wise up and realize they are being used.
There are many other ways for the NFL and its players to speak out against racism and racial injustice. Taking a knee during the national anthem is not one of them.
Here is the deal. It is disrespectful to the fall and country to not stand during the National Anthem. Period.
You want to protest unfair treatment t, social injustice, a hang nail..do it on your time. I have yet to see these pampered elitist football players out protesting the breakdown of the African American family. The amount of black on black murder in Chicago.. or how school choice would allow poor families the same opportunity to get their kids educated across town.. so, NFL, as in not for long, better come up with a real good reason to turn th TV on Sunday.
We need to stop saying "taking a knee" and call it, "disrespecting the Flag." As in, "The Pittsburgh Steelers disrespected our Flag yesterday...." "Robert Kraft and the New England Patriots disrespected our Flag on Sunday....".
The biggest problem with the entire athlete protest movement is that it is based on either a misconception or an outright lie.
So, let’s just cut to the chase. African Americans make up only 12% of America’s population, yet are responsible for 52% of the homicides in America, and nearly all of those homicides are comprised of black men killing other black men. Using government statistics, a black man in America is 32 times more likely to be killed by another black man than by either a white man or a police officer.
Far and away the greatest threat to black men in America is other black men.
On the eve of the first anniversary of Donald Trump’s inauguration, it is worthwhile to reflect on the significance of his presidency for the quality of our nation’s politics. Some Americans have criticized the president as a threat to our democratic way of life. They point to his brawling rhetoric, his tendency to insult and demean his political opponents, and contend that these habits undermine the norms of civility that sustain a healthy democracy. (Snip) Nevertheless, to be fair to President Trump—and to reassure ourselves about the state of our country—it is worth pointing out that when it comes to
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau -- a Democratic Party creation to put more limo libs on the federal budget -- finally protecting consumers from a predator: itself Mick Mulvaney, the new director of the agency, just requested zero dollars from public money in his budget. From the Los Angeles Times: In his first quarterly funding request as acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Mick Mulvaney is asking for nothing. “This letter is to inform you that for the Second Quarter of Fiscal Year 2018, the Bureau is requesting $0,” he wrote Wednesday to Janet L. U.S. President Donald J. Trump is set to pass up a meeting with Prime Minister Theresa May for the second time this month, as he reportedly has no plans to meet her at the globalist Davos economic forum. Mrs. May had been hoping for a “clear the air” meeting with the president at the Swiss resort, according to The Telegraph, after the two clashed over President Trump sharing messages on Twitter highlighting Islamic extremist violence. The paper reports that government sources had earlier revealed plans to “engineer an encounter” between the U.S. and UK leaders, who are both attending the summit focused
WASHINGTON — Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon has refused to answer a broad array of queries from the House Intelligence Committee about his time working for President Donald Trump, leading the committee chairman to authorize a subpoena. The developments Tuesday brought to the forefront questions about White House efforts to control what Bannon tells Congress about his time in Trump’s inner circle, and whether Republicans on Capitol Hill would force the issue. The congressional subpoena came the same day The New York Times reported that Bannon, a former far-right media executive and recently scorned Trump adversary, has been
Time, further questioning, and a host of inherent contradictions will eventually bring more sunlight upon the authorship of “The Dossier”. Additionally, how it was used by the DOJ/FBI in gaining FISA-702 query and upstream data surveillance approvals, what the media calls “FISA Warrants”, is soon to reach sunlight. It’s unavoidable. In addition to the absurd claims debunked within the dossier, a significantly under-discussed aspect is the actual authorship. Fusion GPS claims Christopher Steele wrote the memos which were assembled into the “Clinton Dossier”. However, there are numerous mistakes within the documents which no intelligence expert would ever make; including the repeated
Consider this an addendum “break out” thread, a reference of sorts, to help prepare people for the upcoming week and discussions about FISA-702.We’ll break down the term: “ FISA-702(16)(17) ” into the elements that will help you make sense of this story in the future. There is an interesting dynamic unfolding with White Hats and Black Hats amid the story of how political forces within the DOJ and FBI conspired with Clinton allies in the 2016 presidential election, ie. “The Trump Operation”. [Hi Glenn, Jim, Andy] Back-story – There are two central components: *First, corruption within the DOJ and FBI that included their use of unlawful use of FISA-702 exploits; and *second, how that intelligence information was extracted, passed along to those outside government, repackaged, and reconstituted into the “Steele Dossier”. The finished, albeit sketchy, intelligence was later returned to the FBI to request lawful FISA court
A 30-year-old Thai immigrant was identified Sunday as the 20th victim of the mudslides that have devastated a Southern California community. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff´s Office said Pinit Sutthithepa was found during search and recovery efforts in Montecito Saturday afternoon. The sheriff´s office noted that Sutthithepa´s six-year-old son, Peerawat, and 79-year-old father-in-law, Richard Loring Taylor, were among the victims. The list of those still missing has shrunk to four. According to the sheriff´s office, Sutthithepa´s two-year-old daughter Lydia was among those who are unaccounted for. According to friends, Sutthithepa initially came to the U.S. by himself, but sent his
Twitter’s mission statement is to: “Give everyone the power to create and share ideas and information instantly, without barriers.” On Thursday, Project Veritas released a video showing Twitter engineers boasting their use of “shadowbanning” to curb conservative speech. No amount of “deceptive editing” accusations or “out of context” arguments can contradict the tale of the tape. The engineer lays out, in unedited detail, the process of shadowbanning—which consists of Twitter allowing a post to exist but limiting its reach by hiding it from view, thus ensuring that no engagement occurs. The poster of the tweet will merely think that no one
How do you know you’ve been shadowbanned? You may be tweeting, but you’re no longer being heard. You wonder if maybe people just aren’t interested in what you have to say. But they might be interested. Twitter just isn’t interested in letting them read your messages. Shadowbanning is the censorship that social media companies do in the shadows. It’s cowardly and dishonest. And it’s how the big firms get away with covertly censoring conservatives. (Snip) Or as Olinda Hassan, Twitter’s Policy Manager for Trust and Safety put it, “It´s something we´re working on where we´re trying to get the s___ people not to show
A federal appeals court upheld the state of Tennessee’s 2014 vote in favor of a ballot measure that removed the right to an abortion from the state’s constitution. The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld the ballot amendment known as Amendment 1 — which won by a 53 percent margin — by a 3-0 opinion. According to the Tennessean, the measure added language to the state constitution that reads, in part: “Nothing in this Constitution secures or protects a right to abortion.” Eight voters who opposed the measure — including the former chairman of the board of Planned Parenthood — challenged the
In a news cycle full of poverty, war, political intrigue, and all the usual torment, America’s media have wasted valuable time this week debating the value of President Donald Trump’s use of a bad word. (Snip)the left divides the world into “paradises” and “shitholes” all the time, depending on how much money there is to be had in duping apolitical Americans into buying their classifications. A review of a classified document outlining what is described as extensive Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act abuse was made available to all House members Thursday and the revelations could lead to the removal of senior officials in the FBI and Department of Justice, several sources with knowledge of the document stated. These sources say the report is “explosive,” stating they would not be surprised if it leads to the end of Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel investigation into President Trump and his associates. The House Intelligence Committee passed the motion along party lines Thursday to make the classified report alleging extensive
WASHINGTON- President Donald Trump relentlessly congratulates himself for the healthy state of the U.S. economy, with its steady growth, low unemployment, busier factories and confident consumers. But in the year since Trump´s inauguration, most analysts tend to agree on this: The economy remains essentially the same sturdy one he inherited from Barack Obama.Growth has picked up, but it´s not yet clear if it can sustain a faster expansion. Hiring and wage growth actually slowed slightly from Obama´s last year in office. Consumers and businesses are much more optimistic, but their spending has yet to move meaningfully higher. Republicans are slamming Democratic Sen. Cory Booker for “mansplaining” to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen in a sharp and one-sided exchange Wednesday before a Senate committee. The New Jersey lawmaker blasted Nielsen´s "silence and amnesia" after failing to get the response he sought on her recollection of statements President Trump made in a meeting last week. Booker´s hostile tone prompted Republican National Committee Rapid Response Director Michael Ahrens to invoke the millennial term for males talking down to women.
After leaving office, President Ronald Reagan created the Ronald Reagan Freedom Award to recognize individuals who have fought to spread liberty worldwide. Nancy Reagan continued the tradition after her husband’s death, and in 2008 she bestowed the honor on human rights icon Natan Sharansky, who credited Reagan’s strong defense of freedom for his own survival in Soviet gulags. Reagan recognized that as leader of the free world, his words carried enormous weight, and he used it to inspire the unprecedented spread of democracy around the world. President Donald Trump does not seem to understand that his rhetoric and actions reverberate in
Men can now look forward to a liberated future of wearing dresses. One such fashion designer, Alejandro Gomez Palomo of Spain, is helping to rush in that new era. According to the 25-year-old Palomo, whose public appearance looks as if Dracula spent a weekend at Liberace´s house, gender fluidity is a way of life he hopes that future men can share. In an interview with AFP, Palomo likened his fashion revolution to the ones ushered by Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent in the 20th century. "Chanel liberated women (after World War I) by dressing them in male fabrics like tweed,"
Pope Francis has conferred the title of “Commander of the Pontifical Equestrian Order of St. Gregory the Great” on Lilianne Ploumen, a Dutch politician and vocal agitator for abortion rights. Last year, Ploumen founded a pro-abortion organization called She Decides, which offers funding and support for international NGOs that provide, facilitate or campaign for abortion. In an email to the Catholic Herald, Ms. Ploumen said that she was “very honoured” by the pontifical medal, which was sent via the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs last month. In an interview with Dutch radio, Ploumen said she views the honor as a
Obama’s current office, which is run by former de facto President Valerie Jarrett, is just a mile or so from the White House. It is at that location one sees a daily procession of donors, political operatives, party affiliates (BOTH Democrat and Republican) media friends (of which there are many) and more shadowy figures representing a myriad of foreign interests. And each day this office and its two primary inhabitants – Obama and Jarrett, are asked the same question: WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT TRUMP? Obama being Obama, with his solar-system-sized ego intact, has been promising to do

California lawmakers are targeting the expected windfall companies in the state would see under the federal tax overhaul with a bill that would require businesses to turn over half to the state. A proposed Assembly Constitutional Amendment by Assemblymen Kevin McCarty, D -Sacramento and Phil Ting, D-San Francisco, would create a tax surcharge on California companies making more than $1 million so that half of their federal tax cut would instead go to programs that benefit low-income and middle class families.
Former FBI director James B. Microwaves are as damaging to the environment as cars and users must be taught how to cook more efficiently, scientists say. The ovens are responsible for 7.7 million tons of the carbon dioxide pumped out from the EU each year — the equivalent of 6.8 million cars. Researchers say they are fueling global warming with consumers overcooking food to blame. Microwaves account for the largest percentage of sales of all types of oven in the EU, with numbers set to reach 135 million by 2020. But scientists at the University of Manchester — the first to assess the environmental impact
Far from content living his golden years on the $400,000 speech and lecture circuit of other former presidents, President Obama has been busy with clawing back for his old power. He´s actually covertly plotting to oust his democratically elected successor, President Trump, vowing to his associates to "rip him a new one," in the 2018 midterm elections. Seems he´s not all that interested in watching his youngest daughter grow up. That´s the word from DCWhispers, which reports that Obama´s Kalorama mansion, in the heart of the capital´s most tony district, is the center of significant comings and goings among the Obamatons,
