Federal refugee and asylum officials

The union representing 11,000 Department of Homeland Security employees who screen foreign refugees and asylum seekers has filed a Supreme Court brief saying President Trump’s decision to freeze the refugee program is ill-informed and contradicts the country’s heritage of admitting immigrants fleeing war and prosecution. “You’ll notice we didn’t weigh in on ‘It’s racist,’ ‘It’s unconstitutional,’” said Michael Knowles, president of National Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) Council 119, speaking of Trump’s decrees that are generally referred to as the Muslim travel ban. “It’s not that we don’t have views about that.(snip)“Our whole agency was created in response to 9/11,”

These guys have an opinion, but are not refugees, so I can´t see how they would have standing to file a lawsuit.

Another thing that needs to be banned is unionization of federal employees.

This employee union is seeped in liberal Democrat politics. Their members also have a special interest in opening the borders to as many asylees and refugees as possible, as once the numbers of asylees and refugees go down, the numbers of asylum and refugee federal officials needed to process them also goes down. That means less union members.

Key word: Union. Predisposed to counter anything a republican President might propose. Fewer immigrants, fewer threats, means fewer gigs for Homeland Security personnel. Job protection at it´s most nuanced. Easily discountable. Immaterial.

A planned meeting of leaders of the 11 countries that remain in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) was unexpectedly scrapped yesterday after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau failed to turn up. The so-called TPP-11 is made up of Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam, all members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) forum.

Judge denies California’s bid to reinstate

A federal judge on Wednesday denied an attempt by California to force the Trump administration to pay billions of dollars to insurance companies to subsidize health plans for low-income Americans. The payments, known as cost-sharing subsidies, were established under the Affordable Care Act to reimburse insurers for offering lower deductibles and co-payments for some consumers who buy health plans on the insurance exchange. The payments are one of two types of ACA subsidies that lower the cost of health care for millions of Americans; the other type helps consumers pay for insurance premiums.

With a name like Redneck Revolt, one “paramilitary” group named in a lawsuit filed in the wake of the deadly Charlottesville protests sounds like the classic alt-right, gun-toting militia many blame for the August incident that sparked a national debate on race and guns. But Redneck Revolt is a sometimes-armed militia that left-wing protesters have apparently started calling on for security, and critics say it represents a growing group of heat-packing, far-left social justice warriors who are “willing to take on personal risk to defend those in our community,” according to the group’s website. The latest Harvard-Harris survey found 45 percent of voters approve of the job Trump is doing, compared to 55 percent who disapprove. That´s up from 43 percent last month, which marked the low point for Trump in the survey. The 45 percent approval rating in the Harvard-Harris poll is higher than most other polls. The president is at 41.3 percent in the RealClearPolitics average.

One of three men accused of using a gun stolen from a San Francisco police officer to kill a man in the Mission District last month had been released from County Jail earlier in the year despite a request from federal immigration agents that he be held and turned over for potential deportation, officials said Friday. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials lodged what is known as a detainer request for Jesus Perez-Araujo, 24, after he was arrested three months before the Aug. 15 street killing of 23-year-old Abel Enrique Esquivel Jr., said ICE spokesman James Schwab. The allegations by five women that Roy Moore pursued and sexually molested teenage girls while he was in his 30s are disgusting, and disqualify him to serve in the United States Senate. Conservatives should be outraged at Moore for his loathsome conduct. But they should also be outraged at the man who helped put Moore on the ballot and is in the process of destroying the Trump presidency: Stephen K. Bannon.
