McCain to vote no
on ObamaCare repeal

The Hill [Washington, DC], by Jordain Carney

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 9/22/2017 2:04:56 PM

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) announced on Friday that he will vote against the latest GOP effort to repeal ObamaCare, potentially dooming the legislation. “I cannot in good conscience vote for the Graham-Cassidy proposal. I believe we could do better working together, Republicans and Democrats, and have not yet really tried," he said in a statement, referring to the legislation spearheaded by GOP Sens. Lindsey Graham (S.C) and Bill Cassidy (La.). McCain´s announcement leaves GOP leadership with no room for error.

Comments:
Of course he is. I´m so sick of that guy. I guess being BFF with Miss Lindsey didn´t matter. He should have done the right thing and voted to repeal it. It is just going to get worse and worse. It should be repealed and the private sector be providing the coverage instead of the hacks in the government destroying everything. statement on FNC just ran a McCain statement and he said he ´didn´t want to make a vote on just a party line basis.´ Isn´t it wonderful that he´s suddenly so moralistic. Susan Collins is also a no.

This encapsulates everything that populist nationalists (like me) have been saying. Let Obamacare fail. When single payer comes up: block it. Then repeal the whole damn thing - at last.

.. or will Mitch suddenly have a "road to Damascus" moment and repeal the 60-vote cloture rule to pass this sham?

Otherwise, using your logic, you should pass this, and THEN work on something better with the DemonRATs.

But McPain has no "logic" except "I hate Trump". And we are all reamed because of it!!!

Time for Mitch to pull McCain aside and advise him that if he doesn´t vote yes for the repeal, he no longer is Chairman of the Armed Services Committee. It´s past time to start playing hardball. Same with Rand Paul, and Susan Collins.

There needs to be a price for not working with, and supporting your party.

If you seriously review McCain´s actions of the past few years you have to conclude that his problems are more that just craving media attention - his mental illness is very serious and has reached the point where Arizona must find a way to remove him from office.

I also think McCain is mentally ill--or maybe just affected by his brain tumor. His actions make no sense. A yes vote here doesn´t repeal or replace Obamacare. It just sends it to conference with the House. McPain would still have a chance to vote no on the final bill out of conference if he didn´t like it. His actions are pure spite because he wants to deny Trump a victory. Actually, it´s kind of a compliment to say he´s nuts because otherwise, he´s just a petty little man.

While I do not care for McCain thru his actions or policys and think he has been selling out his country for years I do support his no vote on thus ridiculous farce of a bill that doesn t repeal anything it only puts lipstick on a pig and enshrines goverment run health care in a way that enriches insurance companies and guarantees more government control thru healthcare. I am happy to see Rand Paul stand up and call this what it is and stand for real repeal. You trolling Rand Paul is why we have the crappy government we have and why few bother to standup. Damned if you do .. damned if you dont. I hope Rand runs in 2020. The only one with enough sense and consistency of making his actions match his words. He has been so right on so many issues like the perpetual wars and hazards of arming rebels and what would happen if we did. Former President George W. Bush offered an unmistakable denunciation of Trumpism Thursday without mentioning the president by name, urging citizens to oppose threats to American democracy. “Bigotry seems emboldened. Our politics seems more vulnerable to conspiracy theories and outright fabrication,” Bush warned in remarks at the Bush Institute’s Spirit of Liberty event in New York. By chance, Bush was standing in the same spot at the Time Warner Center where former President Barack Obama made a similar plea for democracy and American leadership in late September, shortly after President Donald Trump had finished a belligerent, isolationist speech to the United Nations

Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” host Joe Scarborough said President Donald Trump was the “antithesis” of the teachings of Jesus Christ. Scarborough said, “You look in Matthew, and go through the Beatitudes. Every single Beatitude. You go through Jesus’s teaching. What he says he wants people to be. Donald Trump is the antithesis of just about every single thing that Jesus Christ said on the Sermon on the Mount. Go read it.” He added, “None of us are perfect, but he goes out of his way it seems to thumb his nose at all conventions. Including the basics of

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says players should stand for the national anthem, speaking out amid the furor over some players´ protests before games. "We believe everyone should stand for the national anthem. That´s an important part of our policy," Goodell said in a press conference Wednesday in New York. But Goodell said he would not commit to making a rule stating players must stand for the anthem. "Our players will state to you publicly they are not doing this in any way to be disrespectful to the flag," Goodell said. He said the league is "not looking to get into politics, but what

As National Football League owners and players’ union representatives meet in New York today and tomorrow to discuss the players’ recent demonstrations — the kneeling, linking arms or raising fists during the national anthem — they should know how the law views these protests. This will not only tell them what the league lawfully can do; it also will reveal something about American values. There has been some confusion about the law and the anthem protests. Because the First Amendment generally treats government and corporate power differently, allowing a business to impose on its workers what the government

George W. Bush hinted Thursday at his dissatisfaction with Donald Trump, complaining in a New York City speech that ´bullying and prejudice´ has become a caustic norm in American public life. At an event hosted by the George W. Bush Institute, the 43rd U.S. president rattled off a thinly veiled litany of complaints about the current commander-in-chief, focusing on both his tone and his isolationist policy choices. ´Our young people need positive role models,´ he said. ´Bullying and prejudice in our public life sets a national tone, provides permission for cruelty and bigotry, and compromises the moral education of children.´

Clinton Scandals: For well over a year now, the progressive left in the Democratic Party have tried hard to sell the idea that, a) Russia meddled in our election, and, b) that it was to the detriment of Hillary Clinton. After nearly a year and a half of investigating, neither appears true. What is true, and now documented, is that Hillary Clinton and her family foundation both benefited handsomely from Russian corruption. Citing federal officials and government documents, The Hill details the Russians´ nuclear-industry corruption here in the U.S., citing extensive evidence that "Russian nuclear industry officials were engaged in bribery,

Someone within the Obama administration’s intelligence apparatus made requests to unmask the identity of Americans named in intelligence reports on behalf of Samantha Power, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. That’s what Power told the House Intelligence Committee last week during a closed-door interview. South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy revealed in an interview on Fox News on Tuesday that Power was “emphatic” on the point that someone else in the Obama administration made the unmasking requests that have been attributed to her. Fox News recently reported that Power made approximately 260 unmasking requests — a rate of one per business day

Sen. John McCain exploded on Fox News’ Peter Doocy on Wednesday for asking him if he would oppose everything that President Trump asks him to do. Doocy asked Sen. McCain if his relationship with the president is “so frayed” that McCain would “not support anything that he comes to you and asks for?” McCain snapped, “Why would you say something that stupid? Why would you ask something that dumb?” “My job as a United States senator — you mean I am somehow going to behave in a way that I’m going to block everything because of some personal disagreement?” McCain said incredulously.

Damning new evidence appears to show that Hillary Clinton used her office as Secretary of State to confer benefits to Russia in exchange for millions of dollars in donations to her foundation and cash to her husband. But there’s more. It seems it was all covered up for years by the same three people who are now involved in the investigation of President Donald Trump over so-called Russian “collusion.” (Snip) What’s more, Holder was a member of the “Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States” which approved the uranium sale to the Russians in 2010.

A Massachusetts elementary school has canceled its Halloween events and is celebrating ´black and orange spirit day´ instead. Boyden Elementary School´s principal sent a letter to parents this week saying that it had decided to cancel its traditional Halloween parade on October 31 because it was ´not inclusive of all students´ and was ´difficult´ for many. Without specifying which students the parade excluded, Principal Brendan Dearborn said the school would instead hold a ´black and orange spirit day´.  Children are allowed to dress in those colors but cannot come to school in costume. They are however allowed to wear costumes to an

Meghan McCain gave an interview on Tuesday where she responded to President Trump‘s warning towards her father after his speech against “spurious nationalism.” In a Good Morning America interview with George Stephanopoulos, McCain noted that Trump and her father clearly have different ideas about the best direction of the country. She went on to declare that she’s “exhausted” with the GOP’s infighting and the attacks against her dad after all the challenges he has already faced. “I don’t know if you guys have heard but my father is fighting glioblastoma right now and there’s nothing that could possibly happen or

The much-publicized Tuesday meeting between NFL officials, team owners, NFLPA officials and several players lasted about three hours. While there was undoubtedly a lot discussed in that time, it sounds as though there has not been a resolution on a rule change to require that players stand for the national anthem before games. A statement released jointly by the NFL and NFLPA called it a “productive meeting,” and that there will be another session in the future: Today owners and players had a productive meeting focused on how we can work together to promote positive social change and address inequality
