A new fifth grade teacher at Canopy Oaks Elementary is asking students to use gender-neutral pronouns in the classroom. Math and science teacher Chloe Bressack sent the request home in a letter to parents headlined "About Mx. Bressack." “... my pronouns are ´they, them, their´ instead of ´he, his, she, hers.´ I know it takes some practice for it to feel natural,” the letter reads, “but students catch on pretty quickly.” The letter also asks that students use “Mx.," (pronounced ´Mix´) when addressing the teacher rather than Mr. or Ms. The note alarmed some parents. In a post written Tuesday night in the Facebook group
Comments: Elementary school teacher sends home a note announcing that she´s mentally ill, and the school principal says he´s in full support. Only some parents are alarmed, if not up in arms?
If I had a child in her class I would pull him or her out. The job of a Teacher is to PREPARE a Student to go out into the world. To PREPARE them to succeed in the Workplace. To succeed in being a Parent. WHY in the world should this person teach what SHE thinks is proper. She should be FIRED and someone who follows a Lesson Plan should replace her.
This nonsense surely wastes taxpayer monies - the ´teachers´ are supposed to be covering reading, writing and arithmetic over and over until the children can perform them well. I don´t add American history since these leftard chimps don´t know the correct version.
The left has won. Our culture and our country have lost. It only gets worse from here on out. Is there any ´leadership´ speaking out about this Marxist clap trap? No. I didn´t think so. Anarchy is what the left wants. And they have succeeded without firing a shot. Well, not as many shots (mostly at the cops) as you would have thought it would have taken. And what better way for them to succeed than to inculcate our schools full of young minds full of mush. We are toast. America is toast. Now its Amerika, waiting to be nuked.
If she´s concerned that all students feel comfortable and have a place to be themselves in her classroom, then I´m sure she´ll be fine with students using the pronouns their parents prefer they use. Right? And the Principal will equally be fine with the students doing what they´re comfortable with even if it´s he/she, him/her. Right?
I´m a woman who used to be a guy, (that´s another story, but put in here for context) This "teacher" is a total bonehead and most likely one of those pushy liberal looser types, who insist (demand) that in the name of diversity you do as they say. I say they give a very bad name to the rest of my community. Their actions and demands are so very far over the mark. Pull out your children and go to another school.
Because #9 that is what has been happening since Carter created the Dept. of Education, the unions were allowed control of the teachers and tenure. The Dept. of Education should be dismantled, the unions shown the door and tenure cancelled. That would be a start.
Canopy Oaks Elementary teacher is capturing the vocabulary in an effort to take over the language. I hope she rots in hellll. And the enabling principal along with her in the hottest corner of the after-life.
Hilarious. In Lambert´s quote supporting the teacher, he uses ´she and ´her´ about half a dozen times in direct conflict with what they wants. And so this one teacher has engineered the bastardization of the previous sentence. You see - it´s not enough to prefer a custom handle to suit your innermost comfort levels, one must change the language and impressionable minds as well. So let Mx Bressack be addressed as such, and in other contexts as simply Mx. Leave the language alone. As #1 points out - the other words have inappropriate meanings when referring to mx.
As noted earlier, the PC principal doesn´t even know how to address "they" properly.
It will never "feel" natural because it´s NOT natural. Imagine being a child with a learning disability struggling to learn in a classroom where the teacher demands to be referred to as "they." It´s shocking that we´ve reached a point in this country where the wants of the teacher trump the needs of the children.
WHY must normal people genuflect to the dysfunctional among us? Why do some demand special treatment for the dysfunctional? Are they more equal that the rest of us? How about: just STOP telling normal people how to act, how to feel and how to think. STOP it. It´s either XX or XY. Don´t like it? That´s YOUR problem ... don´t make it MINE.
I reject Mx. I might accept "it." But #4, I don´t accept that premise, although I agree that it feels that way sometimes. The public schools are losing more and more students each year. parents are wising up to what is going on in the public schools and they don´t like it. The ps district here has not had a bond issue pass in nine years. Meanwhile a charter school, that just stated 5 years ago, has already built a $5 mil HS. Last year the the district went all out on it´s requests and asked for a whopping $300 mil bond and asked if the community would not approve that at least pass an $11 mil for raises and bonuses, then hired an expensive PR firm to sell it. Both went down in flames. That sort of thing has been going on all over the country. There is a reason for the online school, charter schools the demand for school vouchers, the home schooling. Take heart elect the right people to the Bd of Ed. It may not be visible but it is happening all over the country. There is a reason you see more of this coming from the ps, that´s all that is left at the ps. The good people are getting their children out of there.
I always wondered about the "female" history teacher I had in 11th grade. Looked like a guy, with a heavy beard (clean shaven, but that Homer Simpson look) and wore a mumu type rig every day. Angry, mean sort of person. I was happy to only spend half a year in that school. Never did figure "her" out, definitely looked like pi**ed off hairy guy in a dress. This would have been in middle 60s.
There are really some strange people out there running loose.
The head of MI5 today warned Britain is facing the biggest terror threat of his 34 year career - as he said tech giants have an ´ethical responsibility´ to crack down on extremists. Andrew Parker said extremists are mounting deadly terror attacks with just a few days of planning as the UK sees a ´dramatic´ jump in the scale and pace of the threat. In his annual ´state of the union´ assessment of the threat facing the UK, he said extremists are exploiting ´safe spaces´ online, hindering intelligence efforts to root them out. And he issued a fresh challenge to technology firms,
Philadelphia — When U.S. Sen. John McCain was a younger man, once or twice he was tasked with carrying Joe Biden´s luggage. On Monday, after Biden, the former U.S. vice president, awarded McCain with the National Constitution Center´s Liberty Medal, McCain was sure to let everyone know he hadn´t forgotten. "I´ve resented it ever since," McCain said on the lawn of the Philadelphia museum as he accepted the award for his lifetime of sacrifice and service to the country. (Snip) "The son of a gun never carried my bags," said Biden, a Democrat. "He was supposed to carry my bags;
President Trump said Monday that he’s eyeing another major government reform — this time tackling welfare. He said some recipients are taking advantage of public assistance while others in need don’t get it. “We are looking very, very strongly therefore at welfare reform,” Mr. Trump told reporters at the start of a Cabinet meeting at the White House. The mention of welfare reform was unexpected. He rarely mentioned the topic during the campaign and has been consumed with other ambitious plans since taking office. Mr. Trump is currently trying to push a major tax-code overhaul through Congress, a huge undertaken
Morehouse College board members have chosen the former dean of Georgetown University’s business school to lead the Atlanta-based, historically black college for men. The board voted late Sunday to name David A. Thomas the college’s 12th president. (Snip) Thomas said in an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution his goals include increasing enrollment from its current 2,200 students to 2,500 students, providing more scholarships, finding opportunities for every student to study abroad, supporting faculty research and engaging in issues that improve outcomes for African-American men, noting Morehouse “is a place where we can offer solutions to those issues.”
A group of Georgia cheerleaders say they´ll take a knee in the stadium tunnel when the national anthem is played at Saturday´s homecoming game since their university moved them off the field after an earlier demonstration. Kennesaw State University cheerleader Shlondra Young tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the so-called "Kennesaw Five" will kneel until the U.S. flag "represents what it should." (Snip) Cobb County Sheriff Neil Warren tells The Marietta Daily Journal he called the school president after that game and was assured the demonstration would not happen again. School officials say they moved the cheerleaders off the field before
Mogadishu, Somalia — The most powerful bomb blast ever witnessed in Somalia´s capital killed 276 people with around 300 others injured, the country´s information minister said early Monday, making it the deadliest single attack in this Horn of Africa nation. The toll was expected to rise. In a tweet, Abdirahman Osman called the attack "barbaric" and said countries including Turkey and Kenya had already offered to send medical aid. Hospitals were overwhelmed a day after a truck bomb targeted a crowded street near key government ministries, including foreign affairs. As angry protesters gathered near the scene of the attack, Somalia´s
Lost in the uproar over the NFL sideline protests against police brutality are newly released statistics showing that the threat to black men is skyrocketing — not from trigger-happy or racist cops, but from crime. More than any other demographic group, black men are paying the price with their lives with a surging violent crime rate over the past two years, including a 20 percent jump in the overall homicide rate, even as the number of blacks killed by police declines. Using homicide figures from the 2016 FBI Uniform Crime Report released Sept. 25, Manhattan Institute fellow Heather Mac Donald
A 39-year-old man in the country illegally pleaded guilty Thursday to causing a traffic crash that killed a Johnson County sheriff’s deputy last year. Adrian Espinosa-Flores, 39, pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless second-degree murder in the death of Master Deputy Brandon Collins. Collins was killed on Sept. 11, 2016, while conducting a traffic stop on U.S. 69 just north of 151st Street in Overland Park. Collins’ patrol vehicle was parked when a pickup truck driven by Espinosa-Flores ran into the back of Collins’ vehicle, pushing it into the SUV that the deputy had pulled over.
Mogadishu, Somalia — A huge explosion from a truck bomb killed 20 people in Somalia´s capital, police said Saturday, as shaken residents called it the most powerful blast they´d heard in years. The explosion appeared to target a hotel on a busy road in Hodan district and at least 15 people were injured, police Capt. Mohamed Hussein said. Security forces had been trailing the truck after it raised suspicions, he said. Police said people were trapped in the rubble of the Safari Hotel, which was largely destroyed in the explosion. The hotel is close to Somalia´s foreign ministry. Rescue workers
Lena Dunham is reportedly in talks to take over as the next editor in chief of Glamour magazine. Dunham, the star, writer, and creator of the HBO hit series Girls, is said to be a candidate to take over at the glossy magazine published by Conde Naste, WWD reported on Friday. (Snip) This past January, Dunham and her Girls co-stars Allison Williams, Zosia Mamet, and Jemima Kirke posed for the cover of Glamour. Dunham praised the magazine for using an unretouched photo of the women. ´Well, today this body is on the cover of a magazine that millions of women
Advocates pushing for an unaltered Dream Act to protect young immigrants are warning of the discrimination that some in the LGBT community would face if they were deported. The sunsetting Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program has enrolled 12,000-13,000 Nevada residents, including a rough estimate of 577 members of the LGBT community. Same-sex marriage is either illegal or unrecognized in four out of the top five origin countries for DACA enrollees, and advocates say they could face additional dangers in the detention process while they await deportation. (Snip) Gruberg said immigrants have been able to “come out of two closets.”
Two young illegal immigrant “Dreamers” in the U.S. under protection of the Obama-era DACA deportation amnesty were caught smuggling illegal immigrants in separate incidents in Texas, authorities announced Thursday. The arrests come at a time when Congress is debating what to do about Dreamers, and the arrests could complicate the picture painted of Dreamers as law-abiding standouts who are victims of circumstance. Customs and Border Protection said the first smuggling attempt was broken up on Oct. 4, after Border Patrol agents stopped a car at a checkpoint on Interstate 35 and discovered two illegal immigrants from Brazil hiding in the trunk.
Hillary Clinton was forced to make a series of embarrassing media cancellations today after falling and hurting her foot, MailOnline can reveal. The former First Lady failed to show up at BBC Woman’s Hour, ITV´s This Morning show and at the London Studios to record an interview with the BBC´s Graham Norton Show. Sources said her fall had followed her appearance at the South Bank Centre last night and the twice-defeated Presidential candidate had been exhausted after a lengthy book promotion tour. This Morning presenter Philip Schofield said on Snapchat: ´Supposed to be interviewing Hillary Clinton... but she´s fallen over
Hillary Clinton fell and broke her toe during her book tour in London as President Trump said he hoped she would run for president again in 2020.Clinton, who had to cancel several interviews on Monday, appeared on "The Graham Norton Show" with a protective walking boot on her right foot.“I was running down the stairs in heels with a cup of coffee in hand, I was talking over my shoulder and my heel caught and I fell backwards,” she said.“I tried to get up and it really hurt. I’ve broken my toe,” Clinton continued, going on to say she received
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) blasted “half-baked, spurious nationalism” in the United States in an emotional speech Monday night after receiving the National Constitution Center’s Liberty Medal. “To fear the world we have organized and led for three-quarters of a century, to abandon the ideals we have advanced around the globe, to refuse the obligations of international leadership and our duty to remain ´the last best hope of earth´ for the sake of some half-baked, spurious nationalism cooked up by people who would rather find scapegoats than solve problems is as unpatriotic as an attachment to any other tired dogma of
Hillary Clinton slammed what she called "endemic" sexism and misogyny in America during an interview with Fareed Zakaria, which aired Sunday. Clinton, who was interviewed by Zakaria on his show, "GPS," said sexism was so inherent that she purposely hadn´t highlighted her career history of fighting for women´s rights when she ran for president in 2016. However, she admitted that with the benefit of hindsight, she "could have tried harder" to do so. "I´m a middle-class girl from the middle of the country, and so I always struggled with like, OK, so what´s my story. And it suddenly dawned on me that
New York activist Tamika Mallory says she was booted from an American Airlines flight in Miami after a pilot inserted himself into a dispute over her seat assignment. Mallory, a co-chair of the Women’s March on Washington, was traveling home to New York when the pilot followed her to scold her over an argument she had with a gate agent. He then had her summoned from her seat and kicked off the flight, she told the Daily News. “It definitely was white male aggression. I was singled out, I was disrespected, and he was trying to intimidate me. I was
Hillary Clinton on Sunday defended NFL players who knelt during the national anthem, saying kneeling is a “reverent” position that is not against “our anthem or our flag.” The former Democratic presidential candidate, who was at the Southbank Centre´s London Literature Festival, urged Democrats to use the issue against President Trump. Clinton was embarking on a foreign trip to promote her book “What Happened.” She said people should resist “what are very clear dog-whistles” to the Trump base, pointing to the example of kneeling NFL players. “That´s what black athletes kneeling was all about,” she said in response to a question about ways to
Sure, it´s been more than 340 days since Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton, but there´s still one very narrow, highly unlikely and entirely unprecedented way that Clinton could become president. And it has some Democratic die-hards dreaming again. Harvard University professor Lawrence Lessig offered a Clinton path to the presidency on Medium, putting forward a series of "if/then" scenarios that lead to House Speaker Paul Ryan handing the White House keys to Clinton. Here´s how constitutional law expert Lessig lays it out: If number 1: If Trump is definitively found to have colluded directly with Russia, he would be forced to resign or
If the NFL thought Americans would ease the backlash against the league — they were sadly mistaken. Photos of empty stadiums from around the league show how dire a situation kneelers have spurred. (Photo) Breitbart News reports: Note, that the Jets played New England on Sunday, meaning there should have been a big crowd for that game. The Texans, Atlanta, and Baltimore are also very relevant teams with relatively loyal fan bases. Yet, thousands upon thousands of fans no-showed or didn’t buy tickets for those games. Former NFL quarter Colin Kaepernick has filed a grievance against NFL owners because he believes they colluded to keep him out of a job due to his protests during the national anthem. Kaepernick first protested in the 2016 preseason when he took a knee during the national anthem. He claimed he protested against racial injustice across the country. The protests took off, with many players following his lead.Kaepernick hired criminal defense lawyer Mark Geragos, who has represented Michael Jordan and musician Chris Brown. CBS Sports reported this statement from Geragos: We can confirm that this morning we filed a grievance under the
Sen. John McCain warned against the US turning toward ´half-baked, spurious nationalism´ and jabbed at unnamed pushers of isolationist politics while at an event honoring the war hero´s contributions. (Snip) ´To abandon the ideals we have advanced around the globe, to refuse the obligations of international leadership for the sake of some half-baked, spurious nationalism cooked up by people who would rather find scapegoats than solve problems, is as unpatriotic as an attachment to any other tired dogma of the past that Americans consigned to the ash heap of history,´ he said. He added: ´We live in a land made of
The Clinton Foundation told DailyMail.com it will not return as much as $250,000 in donations from Harvey Weinstein, saying on Sunday the money had already been spent on the organization’s programs and used for charitable purposes. The foundation’s decision comes as politicians and philanthropic groups grapple with whether to return donations they have received from Weinstein, after numerous women stepped forward this month to accuse the movie mogul of sexual assault, harassment and rape. Over a dozen Democratic politicians have said they will give back or donate Weinstein’s campaign contributions to charity. The Clinton Foundation faced questions about Weinstein’s funding after Hillary Clinton
Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D., Ill.) said in a radio interview on Sunday that Democrats can lose to President Donald Trump in 2020 if they "overdo it" by becoming too liberal. Durbin was asked on a local Chicago radio program about comments from Rep. Cheri Bustos (D., Ill.), who warned fellow Democrats that Trump would be reelected if the party becomes too liberal. CNN reporter Andrew Kaczynski was first to report on Durbin´s comments. (Audio) "We need to be balanced," Durbin said on "Connected to Chicago" on WLS-AM. "She´s right about that. And as downstater like her, I understand
