Rand Paul´s Epic Obamacare Flip-Flop?
Weekly Standard, by John McCormack

Original Article

Posted By:MissMolly, 9/21/2017 4:58:18 AM

At the end of July, Kentucky senator Rand Paul advocated and voted for the so-called "skinny repeal" bill of Obamacare. "Skinny repeal is better than no repeal," Paul said on Fox News. "The reason I will advocate and vote for skinny repeal is that it´s the best I can get." But now that Republicans are trying to take one last shot at Obamacare by passing the Graham-Cassidy bill, Paul is adamantly opposed to the "better than nothing" argument. "It keeps 90 percent of the spending of Obamacare and reshuffles it," Paul told reporters on Monday, dismissing Graham-Cassidy as "Obamacare Lite." "If you

There are times "better than nothing" morphs into "nothing is better than this." It all depends what the comparison to nothing offers. Repeal is not "repeal and replace"...I hope it fails.

Speaking during a conference in Boston yesterday, former First Lady Michelle Obama berated women who dared to vote against Hillary Clinton and for Donald Trump. Rep. Steve Scalise met a bipartisan standing ovation on his return to the US Capitol Thursday, proof that members of Congress can still unite on something. Scalise is recovering from near-fatal wounds inflicted by a domestic terrorist who’d targeted the June 14 congressional Republican baseball practice. Shots injured three others less seriously. He credited Capitol Police Officers Crystal Griner and David Bailey for saving his life — as well as the doctors who made him living proof “that miracles do happen.” “You have no idea how great this feels to be back here at work in the people’s House,” the

While President Trump has his eyes on curbing illegal immigration, federal rules are allowing legal immigrants to "sponsor" several more family members from their countries, according to the Department of Homeland Security. On average, legal immigrants have been sponsoring three additional immigrants. And newly arrived Mexicans are sponsoring an additional six family members. The statistics analyzed by the Center for Immigration Studies find that sponsorships exceed initial immigration numbers. Called "chain migration" because the first immigrant acts as a link to many others legally allowed to follow, the practice is having a huge impact on the U.S. Sponsors are "native-born

Jerry Lewis last month of heart failure at the age of 91. He left behind a wife, six children from a previous marriage, one adopted daughter, and an estate worth an estimated $50 million. But that doesn´t mean all of his kids will benefit, either now or someday, from that estate. How do we know? Because he also left a will behind. A will is a public document. Once the probate process begins -- which is what happens when you use a will as an estate planning device -- anyone can view it. That´s how we know that one of the provisions

The Supreme Court justice’s interview aired Tuesday night at New York’s 92nd Street Y that aired on CBS Wednesday morning. Ginsburg told Rose that “we came pretty close” to electing a female president

DENVER — Does a river — or a plant, or a forest — have rights? This is the essential question in what attorneys are calling a first-of-its-kind federal lawsuit, in which a Denver lawyer and a far-left environmental group are asking a judge to recognize the Colorado River as a person. If successful, it could upend environmental law, possibly allowing the redwood forests, the Rocky Mountains or the deserts of Nevada to sue individuals, corporations and governments over resource pollution or depletion. Future lawsuits in its mold might seek to block pipelines, golf courses or housing developments and force everyone from agriculture

Just in time to celebrate its first anniversary, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture has included a display featuring Justice Clarence Thomas, one of the U.S. Supreme Court’s conservative stalwarts. Justice Thomas appears in an exhibit that was installed Sunday, a Smithsonian spokeswoman said Monday. The display honors both of the black justices who ascended to the pinnacle of the legal profession. The other is Thurgood Marshall. Justice Thomas’ apparent omission irked conservative observers, who suspected an ideological bias among Smithsonian officials and called for the influential jurist’s inclusion in the museum.

Public approbation no longer mattered to him, nor did his now-ruined political career nor his public reputation. He was once mentally diseased, but since his arrest in May by the FBI, no more. In response to the news that Saudi Arabia is now allowing women to drive, NBC’s Megyn Kelly criticized the United States for having “such a long way to go” on women’s rights. After announcing that the Muslim country is now allowing women to drive, Kelly almost immediately turned to criticizing perceived gender inequality in the United States. “Do you think that–in fact–women have achieved equality here? Raise your hand if the answer’s yes.” When only one person raised their hand to affirm, Kelly then asked those who don’t think women have equality in the United States to raise their hand.

GREEN BAY - Chants of "U-S-A! U-S-A!" reverberated around Lambeau Field on Thursday as the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears stood to observe the national anthem. Players and coaches from both teams locked arms on their respective sidelines. No one sat and no one kneeled. The decision by the Packers to lock arms was meant as a display of unity, a message made public through a statement crafted by the players earlier this week. They encouraged fans to do the same, and while the anthem proved to be uneventful, the majority of spectators did not link arms with their
