People who claim to be shocked that Donald Trump is prepared to make an amnesty deal for the"Dreamers" -- most of whom are Mexicans who entered the USA at around the age of six -- are being more than a tad disingenuous. The president has been hinting as much for over a year to anyone paying attention. In fact, it´s hard to conceive how he could have done otherwise, considering the (excuse the cliché) "optics" of shipping 800,000 young people back to a homeland they may never have seen. The question is what your definition of amnesty is. It´s a
Children of illegal immigrants must be deported with their parents in accordance with the law. If we don´t like this law, we can elect representatives to change the law. Until we do so, pontificating garbage opinions about so-called "dreamers" is just an emission of intellectual flatulence.
They all vote thanks to DMV (Dept of Mexican Voters) motor voter laws that lets them register Democrat when the apply for their DL. So what if they lie and check the box that says they are a US citizen. They do it all the time and I have never heard of anyone being prosecuted.
Isn´t this the result of Obama´s flood of "unaccompanied"minors who poured across the border without parents?? So now those children´s families have come in and want the handouts. No amnesty, no chain immigration, nothing. They are illegal!!!
I have no problem with them voting under one circumstance: That they serve honorably in a branch of the US military for a minimum of 8 years. Then they automatically get citizenship and with it voting rights. They earned it.
Otherwise, they are "guests" in this country, and must obey the law -- which includes NOT voting!!!
Simon should know better. If the Dreamers are allowed stay in the U.S. they will eventually obtain the franchise. The courts will see to it.
But that´s OK with me, as long as the bad actors among them are weeded out, jailed and/or deported. The legislation Congress has been asked to put together and pass will be somewhat complicated and subject to court challenge.
A lot of people will be dissatisfied with the final resolution of this thorny issue. You can shout "No Amnesty!" until you´re blue in the face, but there is a roiling stew of factors at work and others due to come into play.
I do believe this, though: with DT as president the final result will be the best obtainable.
Why should they get to jump the line, when people all over the world have jumped thru the hoops, waited years and paid the expenses to become a citizen? The blame is on their parents, not the system. Check the laws of any other nation in the world and see what their laws are concerning illegal immigrants.
Democrats move in one direction, that of increasing the leaders´ political power. No matter what terms the R´s were to agree to, the moment the D´s regained power, anything costing the Democrat Party votes would be promptly swept away. Recall Reagan who foolishly trusted the D´s about the "last amnesty" with the D´s pledge to build the wall. Reagan gave way on the amnesty, and the Dems promptly cancelled funding for the wall. Smart people cannot trust Dems. Anyone who trusts Dems knows nothing. The Dems are not only dishonest, they are treacherous.
I still maintain that congress MUST change existing laws if the Dreamers are to stay, and President Trump is giving them six months to do that. I don´t think they have the nerve to do it. It would be political suicide to pass laws to open our borders; therefore, existing laws will be followed, in my opinion.
Ahh... You might wanna catch up on things in the Washington ComPost there Roger ...
"The Washington suburb of College Park, Md., on Tuesday became the largest U.S. city to allow noncitizens to cast ballots in municipal elections after a divided City Council vote that reflected the nation’s heated and emotional debate over illegal immigration ..."
Let the dreamers stay and send the parents back. No voting rights, no welfare, no chain immigration, no amnesty. They must carry ID with them at all times and show it whenever asked for. Since they will become a ´special´ class of people, they must report to a yet to be established agency. Their children will not become citizens when born. They will just ´dream on.´ Now what I have layed out would discourage me from coming here, which is the point.
So get ready folks. Millions of ´dreamers´ are going to be allowed to vote. These millions of democrat voters will cancel out our votes guaranteed. This is the unintended consequence of taking pity on illegal aliens. Pretty soon there will be no pretense of having 2 partys. There will only be one. And I´m not referring to the uniparty.
First of all, a LAW must be passed; no Executive only action. The dems MUST put their money where their mouths are.
I could see some type of process for people already here but until border security is beefed up, NO conclusion to the process. They MUST follow the process to citizenship; classes, etc. Maybe even some additional requirements and a wait time. If the wall isn´t done, NO citizenship. No citizenship, NO voting. Serious criminal illegals need not apply.
People illegally crossing the border now or later are NOT eligible.
Agree, amnesty recipients should only be granted a conditional/temporary immigration status valid indefinitely as long as the recipient obeys all US laws. That conditional/temporary status should allow them to live and work in the USA and to travel internationally. They should not be able to bring foreign relatives into the USA, or serve as an anchor relative for their family members to be granted amnesty. There should be no possible progression to permanent resident alien (green card) immigration status or US citizenship unless the recipient applies for and is granted a permanent resident immigration status under the regular immigration laws as all legal immigrants are required to do.
The vote hungry liberal Democrats will not like that, but that should be the extent of President Trump´s concession to the DACA illegal aliens. It is their illegal alien parents fault that they were brought into the USA unlawfully and that´s where the blame lies, not with the immigration laws or the President.
I strongly suspect a sizable percentage of "dreamers" have already voted. What´s just as bad is that among the real political movers and shakers within the GOP, none of them give a rat´s patootie what anyone on a largely conservative news site thinks. We are precisely the Americans that the global communists and their uniparty beards wish to silence and disenfranchise. We are essentially expressing mostly similar opinions to one another. The legislative and executive branch pols would come closer to listening to the BLM rioters in St. Louis, antifa, or the Mexican Mafia housed in our respective state prisons. They gladly suck up our money and our votes but are closer ideologically to the NYT and WaPo.
IF the so-called ´Dreamers´ (notice how the left gives their pets ´nice´ sounding names? -Illegal Aliens become ´Dreamers´ -Homosexuals become ´Gay´.)
If the Illegal Immigrants (II´s) are allowed to stay, they will be allowed to vote as soon as a ´Rat President is in office and issues an executive order ordering the end of any enforcement of Voter ID laws, OR works with a leftist ´Rat-appointed federal judge to rule that ALL voter ID laws are ´unconstitutional´..... and the legal fight gets strung out for years, meantime with the II´s voting 90-100% ´Rat, over whelming the American citizens and installing ´Rat politicians, who will appoint ´Rat judges, and the feedback cycle continues.
It´s as plain as the nose on your face. We saw this happen with the Federal government forcing homosexual marriage on all the states, regardless of what the Citizens of the various states voted for. We live in perilous times.
Last week, I went to a dinner event at social club of which I am a member but rarely patronize. You will guess why when I tell you I ran into a friend of longstanding—someone I know well, but hadn’t seen in a couple of years—and she greeted me with the exclamation, “Here’s a Trumpster!” I could see that that was partly for the benefit of the gents she was talking to, a sort of tribal-marking announcement (“He’s one of those, boys”) but I couldn’t immediately tell whether the glint in her eye was friendly or otherwise. She soon cleared
PENSACOLA, Fla. — A 9-year-old Pensacola child died Saturday after her 325-pound cousin allegedly sat on her as punishment for misbehavior, according to an Escambia County Sheriff´s Office report. Veronica Green Posey, 64, was charged with homicide and cruelty toward a child after paramedics responded to a cardiac arrest call at 1:35 p.m. CT Saturday in the 300 block of Bryant Road. Upon arrival, the victim, Dericka Lindsay, was found to be unresponsive and was transported to Baptist Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Based on the arrest report, Posey told the responding deputy she sat on Dericka as a discipline "for
WASHINGTON – Former Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) told PJM that President Trump should not sign a bill that provides legal status to certain undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. as minors, commonly referred to as DREAMers. Trump has signaled a willingness to sign legislation to afford these immigrants some sort of legal status after rescinding President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy. Democrats argue Congress should pass a DREAM Act to offer young undocumented immigrants a pathway to legal residency or citizenship since their parents brought them into the country illegally through “no fault of their own.”
The bribery case against U.S. Senator Bob Menendez will proceed, and eventually be resolved by a jury, the trial judge ruled today. Judge William Walls rejected a motion by the defense to dismiss the charges against Menendez. A few days ago, it looked like the defense motion would succeed. Judge Walls initially indicated a willingness to accept Menendez’s position that the prosecution’s bribery case cannot withstand the Supreme Court’s decision in the case against former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell. However, the prosecution won the judge over through additional filings submitted over the weekend and/or the oral argument that occurred today. The legal
LARGO — Sheriff Bob Gualtieri fired a deputy Monday after an investigation found he offered to pay an 18-year-old woman he had recently arrested and her friend to come to his house while his young daughter was asleep in the home. Deputy Brian Britt, 45, was terminated after 17 years with the department. Gualtieri said his behavior was "a betrayal of his oath." "It just shows an absolute, 100 percent lack of character, lack of values, terrible decision-making," he said, "and to put your child in that type of a situation is just totally reprehensible." According to the investigation, Britt met the
The whole of Ireland will experience "violent" winds from weather phenomenon Ophelia, with each part of the country bearing the brunt of the storm for approximately three hours, a forecaster has warned. Met Éireann´s Gerry Murphy said Ophelia is "moving quickly" and each part of the country "will experience very strong winds for about three hours." The hurricane, which has been downgraded to an ex-tropical storm, is still considered life-threatening and not something Ireland has experienced before, forecasters informed the public. Residents in Cork are already in the midst of Ophelia, with up to 22,000 people in the south-west already without power
WASHINGTON – Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) said any member of Congress who refuses to figure out ways to reduce federal spending and move closer to a balanced budget is “betraying their country and betraying the future of our kids and grandkids.” The U.S. national debt recently surpassed $20 trillion. “Everyone who refuses to examine this issue and come up with constructive ways to cut federal government spending so we can balance our budget and minimize our risk of insolvency and bankruptcy, everyone who refuses to do that is betraying their country and betraying the future of our kids and grandkids
I´ve been banging on about this journalistic disgrace on Twitter (@dkahanerules) for months, and finally even the Times has had enough. "The New York Times announced on Friday an updated and expanded set of guidelines for our journalists’ use of social media." (Snip) There was a time, in the not-too-distant past, when the Times wouldn´t even allow its reporters on television, so as not to compromise their professional integrity. But since the beginning of the Trump administration, it has sat by and let its White House correspondents, Maggie Haberman and Glenn "Hack" Thrush, merrily voice their contempt for the president,
The good people at Quartz have put together this wonderful montage of Hollywood falling all over themselves to slobber over Harvey Weinstein at the Oscars over the years, though I do have to say that Holly Hunter’s curious remark about Weinstein’s “uncensored passion”—and the expression on her face—perhaps betray that she is among the people who knew, and perhaps is another of Weinstein’s victims. I doubt Hollywood can escape taking a major hit to its reputation from their tolerance for this man for so long. (And wouldn’t you like to be a fly on the wall of that Arizona rehab
Actress Emma Thompson says the Harvey Weinstein scandal is part of a "crisis in extreme masculinity." Not the way I see it. I think Hollywood is suffering from an excess of feminism and nowhere near enough masculinity. Just to be clear, the Weinstein phenomenon is not caused by any one thing. Unless I miss my guess, there will always be Harvey Weinsteins. Hollywood in particular is a town full of powerful men and attractive, insecure young women desperate to salve their insecurities by winning the love of millions onscreen. Put powerful men and pretty, insecure, desperate women together and you´ll get
The fresh complaints, from one alleged victim, relate to incidents in 2010, 2011 and 2015, in Westminster and Camden. It takes the total number of allegations being investigated by the Met to four, after Merseyside Police passed a complaint dating back to the late 1980s to Scotland Yard earlier in the week. The latest allegations came as more British women came forward to claim they were raped by Mr Weinstein. Hollyoaks actress Lysette Anthony has told police she was attacked by the movie mogul in her London home in the late 1980s. Ms Anthony claimed the “pathetic, revolting” attack left
I don’t think we have commented on President Trump’s decision to withdraw the United States from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in protest of that outfit’s anti-Israel bias. My comment is: Great call. President Trump is following in the footsteps of President Reagan. He took the U.S. out of UNESCO in 1984 because it was too susceptible to Soviet influence and overly critical of Israel. There was also the matter of UNESCO’s legendary corruption. Under President George W. Bush, the U.S. rejoined in 2002, after UNESCO instituted some reforms. In 2011, we substantially cut funding to UNESCO after
Hillary Clinton was forced to make a series of embarrassing media cancellations today after falling and hurting her foot, MailOnline can reveal. The former First Lady failed to show up at BBC Woman’s Hour, ITV´s This Morning show and at the London Studios to record an interview with the BBC´s Graham Norton Show. Sources said her fall had followed her appearance at the South Bank Centre last night and the twice-defeated Presidential candidate had been exhausted after a lengthy book promotion tour. This Morning presenter Philip Schofield said on Snapchat: ´Supposed to be interviewing Hillary Clinton... but she´s fallen over
Hillary Clinton fell and broke her toe during her book tour in London as President Trump said he hoped she would run for president again in 2020.Clinton, who had to cancel several interviews on Monday, appeared on "The Graham Norton Show" with a protective walking boot on her right foot.“I was running down the stairs in heels with a cup of coffee in hand, I was talking over my shoulder and my heel caught and I fell backwards,” she said.“I tried to get up and it really hurt. I’ve broken my toe,” Clinton continued, going on to say she received
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) blasted “half-baked, spurious nationalism” in the United States in an emotional speech Monday night after receiving the National Constitution Center’s Liberty Medal. “To fear the world we have organized and led for three-quarters of a century, to abandon the ideals we have advanced around the globe, to refuse the obligations of international leadership and our duty to remain ´the last best hope of earth´ for the sake of some half-baked, spurious nationalism cooked up by people who would rather find scapegoats than solve problems is as unpatriotic as an attachment to any other tired dogma of
Hillary Clinton slammed what she called "endemic" sexism and misogyny in America during an interview with Fareed Zakaria, which aired Sunday. Clinton, who was interviewed by Zakaria on his show, "GPS," said sexism was so inherent that she purposely hadn´t highlighted her career history of fighting for women´s rights when she ran for president in 2016. However, she admitted that with the benefit of hindsight, she "could have tried harder" to do so. "I´m a middle-class girl from the middle of the country, and so I always struggled with like, OK, so what´s my story. And it suddenly dawned on me that
New York activist Tamika Mallory says she was booted from an American Airlines flight in Miami after a pilot inserted himself into a dispute over her seat assignment. Mallory, a co-chair of the Women’s March on Washington, was traveling home to New York when the pilot followed her to scold her over an argument she had with a gate agent. He then had her summoned from her seat and kicked off the flight, she told the Daily News. “It definitely was white male aggression. I was singled out, I was disrespected, and he was trying to intimidate me. I was
Hillary Clinton on Sunday defended NFL players who knelt during the national anthem, saying kneeling is a “reverent” position that is not against “our anthem or our flag.” The former Democratic presidential candidate, who was at the Southbank Centre´s London Literature Festival, urged Democrats to use the issue against President Trump. Clinton was embarking on a foreign trip to promote her book “What Happened.” She said people should resist “what are very clear dog-whistles” to the Trump base, pointing to the example of kneeling NFL players. “That´s what black athletes kneeling was all about,” she said in response to a question about ways to
If the NFL thought Americans would ease the backlash against the league — they were sadly mistaken. Photos of empty stadiums from around the league show how dire a situation kneelers have spurred. (Photo) Breitbart News reports: Note, that the Jets played New England on Sunday, meaning there should have been a big crowd for that game. The Texans, Atlanta, and Baltimore are also very relevant teams with relatively loyal fan bases. Yet, thousands upon thousands of fans no-showed or didn’t buy tickets for those games. (Photos/Tweet) Here’s a shot of the Jaguars stadium at kickoff: (Tweet) Photos of empty
Former NFL quarter Colin Kaepernick has filed a grievance against NFL owners because he believes they colluded to keep him out of a job due to his protests during the national anthem. Kaepernick first protested in the 2016 preseason when he took a knee during the national anthem. He claimed he protested against racial injustice across the country. The protests took off, with many players following his lead.Kaepernick hired criminal defense lawyer Mark Geragos, who has represented Michael Jordan and musician Chris Brown. CBS Sports reported this statement from Geragos: We can confirm that this morning we filed a grievance under the
Sen. John McCain warned against the US turning toward ´half-baked, spurious nationalism´ and jabbed at unnamed pushers of isolationist politics while at an event honoring the war hero´s contributions. (Snip) ´To abandon the ideals we have advanced around the globe, to refuse the obligations of international leadership for the sake of some half-baked, spurious nationalism cooked up by people who would rather find scapegoats than solve problems, is as unpatriotic as an attachment to any other tired dogma of the past that Americans consigned to the ash heap of history,´ he said. He added: ´We live in a land made of
Colin Kaepernick has filed a grievance under the collective bargaining agreement for collusion against NFL team owners, reports Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report. Kaepernick has hired high-profile attorney Mark Geragos and is preparing to release a statement about his grievance soon, added Freeman. The free-agent quarterback has remained unemployed since his release by the San Francisco 49ers in March and has garnered little interest from teams around the league. This has caused some to suggest he´s being blackballed for his national anthem protests during the 2016 season. Kaepernick appeared in 12 games for 49ers in 2016, throwing for 2,241 yards with
The Clinton Foundation told DailyMail.com it will not return as much as $250,000 in donations from Harvey Weinstein, saying on Sunday the money had already been spent on the organization’s programs and used for charitable purposes. The foundation’s decision comes as politicians and philanthropic groups grapple with whether to return donations they have received from Weinstein, after numerous women stepped forward this month to accuse the movie mogul of sexual assault, harassment and rape. Over a dozen Democratic politicians have said they will give back or donate Weinstein’s campaign contributions to charity. The Clinton Foundation faced questions about Weinstein’s funding after Hillary Clinton
Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D., Ill.) said in a radio interview on Sunday that Democrats can lose to President Donald Trump in 2020 if they "overdo it" by becoming too liberal. Durbin was asked on a local Chicago radio program about comments from Rep. Cheri Bustos (D., Ill.), who warned fellow Democrats that Trump would be reelected if the party becomes too liberal. CNN reporter Andrew Kaczynski was first to report on Durbin´s comments. (Audio) "We need to be balanced," Durbin said on "Connected to Chicago" on WLS-AM. "She´s right about that. And as downstater like her, I understand
