Non-U.S. citizens won´t be allowed to vote on local matters in College Park, Md., despite city council officials voting in favor of a proposal that would have allowed it earlier this week. The College Park City Council voted 4-3 Tuesday night to allow legal permanent residents and illegal immigrants to participate in municipal elections. One council member did not vote. "For most Council actions, a simple majority of Councilmembers present must vote in favor of an item for it to be adopted," the city said in a news release. "However, changes to the Charter have a different requirement. The City

why not put out one of those Great Places to Live indexes that includes a Value of your Vote column summarizing issues around whether the voter rolls are recently cleaned up. This would be a big consideration for where to move or set up a business and it would also facilitate study around the question of association of good government with votes that are real votes not inventions of one party. it would be difficult, ok, start.

The year-end television ratings came out this week and the big winner was the Fox News Channel – not only against the competition in cable news but in all of basic cable. The Fox News Channel finished the year as the most-watched basic cable television channel both in prime time and in the entire day. This is the second year that Fox News has achieved that standing. The loss of some of the channel’s major talent in 2017, like Megyn Kelly, Bill O’Reilly, and Eric Bolling, and the schedule changes that resulted, had challenged FNC during the past year.
