Judge: Sessions can´t deny grant

CHICAGO- Attorney General Jeff Sessions can´t follow through - at least for now - with his threat to withhold public safety grant money to Chicago and other so-called sanctuary cities for refusing to impose new tough immigration policies, a judge ruled Friday in a legal defeat for the Trump administration. In what is at least a temporary victory for cities that have defied Sessions, U.S. District Judge Harry D. Leinenweber ruled that the Justice Department could not impose the requirements. He said the city had shown a "likelihood of success" in arguing that Sessions exceeded his authority with the new

This is the untold story of what’s been happening the last
20-30 years. The Federal courts have been packed with liberal judges that, for some reason, have absolute power of “yes-no” on every decision made, no matter who, from the President on down!

This is insane and only works because we have a government of gutless crooks. It wasn´t that long ago that a judge at this level would have simply been ignored. He has NO power to do this. Investigate these activist, communist/deep state judges and ruin them. Turn them out of public life and take away all power for blatant abuse of power. They aren´t fit to be judges, but they are puppets of vile democrats.

Excellent point, #9. Wonder how many times he ruled against AG Holder´s actions? Did pn´t the Federal government withhold road project funds in the 80´s if states didn´t impose 55 MPH speed limit (even in the remote areas of Texas and Wyoming)...how about the food lunch programs under Obama if they didn´t comply with Michelle´s edicts? I´m sure there are dozens of other examples...what does the good judge have to say to his superiors about those?

#16, your examples came from the rule making authority cunder the Administrative procedures act.
Congress can write the appropriations bill for grants to cities by including a provision that they cooperate with federal authorities.
Back during the viet nam war, congress, in dealing with campuses disallowing military recruiting there, had to stop that in order to get a NASA grant.
In the meantime, AG Sessions can slow walk the process, the way State slow walked the keystone pipeline application.

President Obama adopted a policy of "strategic patience" to slow North Korea´s rush to become a nuclear state. The policy failed, but Obama´s media enablers downplayed the looming threat and shielded him from criticism in the process. Unsurprisingly, North Korea´s ambitions became a big story after President Trump inherited the crisis.Conventional wisdom held that Trump would find himself in the same box as Obama, the Bushes, and Clinton, unable to do anything except cajole China and hope Kim Jung-un was years away from achieving his goals. Perhaps adding to the chorus of criticism against the near end of week game, the stakes were pretty low for last night’s Thursday Night Football with neither the Denver Broncos nor the Indianapolis Colts in the playoffs running this season. At least with their 25-13 win, the NFL team from the Mile High City snapped an eight-game losing streak on the road in Week 15 of the season. Alabama is one of the most reliably Republican states in the country. The last time a Democrat was elected was in 1992, and no Democrat has won more than 40 percent of the vote in a Senate race there since 1996. The closest election in recent memory was in 2002, when Jeff Sessions won re-election by a razor-thin margin of 19 points. Sen. Richard Shelby has won his last three elections by 35 points, 30 points and 28 points, respectively. So it takes a special kind of stupid to pick a candidate who can lose to a Democrat in Alabama.
