Schumer, Pelosi say DACA deal will
exclude wall after dinner with Trump

Washington Examiner, by W. James Antel III

The White House hailed a "constructive working dinner" Wednesday night between President Trump and top Democratic congressional leaders, who claimed afterward they agreed to exclude the border wall from a deal on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Trump and administration officials met with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., the latest in a series of overtures from the president to the other side of the aisle. A White House official told reporters afterward the "topics included tax reform, border security, DACA, infrastructure and trade." But Pelosi and Schumer focused on DACA,

I Trump is back-stabbing his base already, then I am done with him.

I have been donating to those who promise to enact legislation favorable to middle-class, patriotic Americans. Over and over they either sit on their hands or outright betray us.

The Left and Antifa march on to silence from our "Republican" leadership. How come the DOJ doesn´t move on the criminals of the Democrat party?

Handing over the store to the Democrats (who rest assured will revile Trump tomorrow) is no way to deal with obstructionist Republicans (who rest assured will still hate and resist his every move). Sticking it to the base is also no way to repay the voters who have a lot more "skin in the game" than the freeloading Dreamers.

I´ll hold my breath until the full details come out.

The one thing I wonder so far, is that if Trump is negotiating with the Dems, how much worse was the deal the GOPe was offering?

We know what Trump ran on and was elected on. How come his own party can´t or won´t deliver?

The disappointment list is growing like Pinocchio´s nose.
We got screwed so bad by Republicans and now by DJT. The thrill of election night and the wonderfulness of the Inaugueration has given way to gut wrenching sickness and astonishment and utter hopelessness in what lies ahead. The Democrats are still running Congress and the WH, even though Repukeocrats are in the majority and a Progressive Independent is Pres. Buhbye America. Once the debt ceiling is abandoned we will be on a supersonic trajectory to fiscal oblivion.

I have to believe that Trump is making a deal that will move all of our priorities forward.

Not ideal by any means, but did you ever really think that the Dreamers would be uprooted and sent back? Just listen to members of Congress address the issue and you can see that there is no support for their removal.

Does this deal allow for really good overall immigration reform moving forward? Is there a quid pro quo for cooperation on the tax plan?

I trust President Trump to do whatever is humanly possible on each issue. He is so boxed in by the disloyal, dishonest Republicans working against him, so he has decided to move the ball forward and make the best deal possible. We shall see....

Of course the Dems are going to try to make this look good for themselves, but remember, what two or three people talk about still has to be voted on by 435 representatives and 100 Senators, let´s wait until the details of the legislation hits and the votes counted. Personally, you will see allot of Republicans vote for their self interests, even if it means aligning with the Democrats. Don´t get mad at Trump per se if you don´t like the legislation, vote your current Republicans out of office in the primaries for those who reflect your best interest and values.

Good grief, the sky isn’t falling. President Trump has always conveyed compassion for the plight of the Dreamers and is attempting to resolve a problem that is unique to the absoluteness of immigration laws. As a father and grandfather, he is exhibiting what Scripture teaches; that is, while following the letter of the law, justice, at times, needs to be tempered by mercy. (Colossians 3:13) A once-only, once-ever DACA amnesty, with strict qualifications and restrictions, could bring legal resolution to the matter.

“When you side with a man, you side with him.” Bannon via William Holden.

President Trump had one dinner with Chuck and Nance and lukewarm Republicans line up believing the Dhim spin, hoping in vain to vindicate their certainty that Trump is a liberal Democrat. Not even close, and definitely no cigar.

DACA is now in the appropriate venue, the Congress. As pointed out by others, whatever was discussed at this dinner is only the starting point. It’s a long way between first discussions and done deals. Our President started the clock ticking and is the timekeeper. Congress is used to setting their own lazy schedule, let’s see how they work under pressure – real pressure from the outside they can’t buy off. Also remember the power of Trump’s Deplorable Army who will be watching the DACA process very carefully and holding our erstwhile GOP Unipartitarians’ collective feet to the fire of truth. All this will be going on in the months leading up to the start of the 2018 primary season. There is very little here to lead to the conclusion that the Dhims will retake the House, very little indeed.

Not so long ago Trump critics beat the drum calling for him to “work with Congress” and to set aside his CEO ways. Well, he was trying to work with the GOP leadership but they didn’t want to work with him. Congress is made up of two parties and Trump is the President of the entire country. Would you rather he treat half the country with the same disdain Obama did when he sidelined and ignored conservative citizens for eight years?

MAGA – I side with Trump.

Obama played hard ball and advanced the marxist cause beyond our wildest nightmares. No matter what Trump does, somebody is not going to be happy, the media is a wing of the democrat party so they will always be against him.

So, why not play hard ball back? I don´t care who doesn´t like it, tough. Reagan fought the establishment on the republican side too and frequently won. As Ted Cruz once said, you will lose 100% of the battles you refuse to fight. Working with the opposition to advance their goals is no way to fight and certainly no way to win anything.

President Trump has to get something out of the deal unless Chuck and Nancy set the rules.

Many members of the national media hate President Trump so much that they´ll even defend North Korea if it keeps them consistent in their opposition to everything he does. After Trump said at the United Nations General Assembly this week that the U.S. would crush the little Asian country should Kim Jong Un attack the U.S. or our allies, reporters and commentators reacted as if he had just threatened Switzerland on a whimsy.
