Chester Hight begged his oldest son to visit. The two hadn´t seen each other in almost a year. "He had various excuses," Hight said Wednesday morning. "But promised he´d be down." Now, that visit will never happen. On Sunday, police say, Hight´s oldest son, Spencer Hight, burst into the Plano home of his estranged wife, Meredith Hight, killing the 27-year-old and seven others in one of North Texas´ worst mass shootings in recent memory. An officer who responded to the attack fatally shot Spencer, 32. (Snip) "I love all my children, but I certainly don't love what Spencer did. I absolutely hate it," said the elder Hight, who has three other

Comments:
I thought that it would be important to follow up on the terrible tragedy that struck here in Plano, just about four miles down the street from me. What is appalling to me is that the "loser" shot and killed women (two0 as well as the men. Was he expecting to "silence" all witnesses? Good he was shot dead by our Plano police. No mention of body armor, so he probably thought that he would get away. HA! (Where i live is across the street from the million dollar homes and many known corporate headquarters which continues to expand.)

Just a follow on from the Dallas Morning News talking to Plano residents. BTW, I´ve yet to see anyone with an open gun or rifle anywhere. Have always seen rifles in the back of truck cabs here. I would be more afraid to see someone with double swords (having seen their "proper" deadly use on Asian historical dramas), on their back.

Seoul, South Korea - South Korea’s military says North Korea fired an unidentified missile from its capital Pyongyang in a continuation of weapons tests following its sixth and most powerful nuclear test to date on Sept. 3. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said Friday that the missile was launched from Sunan, the site of Pyongyang’s international airport. The North last month used the airport to fire a Hwasong-12 intermediate range missile that flew over northern Japan in what it declared as a “meaningful prelude” to containing the U.S. Pacific island territory of Guam and the start of more ballistic missile launches

There’s “no way to stop” Kim Jong Un’s regime and its missile and nuclear program, a North Korea expert told Fox News on Thursday, the warning coming amid Pyongyang´s continued threats to sink Japan and blast the U.S. “into ashes and darkness.” Leading Seoul-based North Korea expert Andrei Lankov told Fox News that Kim Jong Un is accelerating his missile and nuclear program “much faster than anybody expected.” “They want to get the point of having a sufficient number of intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of destroying a sufficient number of American cities,” Lankov said. Undeterred by international condemnation of its latest nuclear test and a new round of sanctions, North Korea is reportedly preparing to carry out another underground atomic test. Satellite images taken since the regime conducted what it claims was a test of a thermonuclear device at its Punggye-ri proving grounds on September 3 have revealed mining equipment and heavy cargo trucks close to a shaft excavated to the south of the test site. Additional activity has also been confirmed at another underground access point, known as the West Portal. Analysts believe the damage caused by the recent test to subterranean

The Senate on Wednesday rejected a bipartisan push for a new war authorization against the Islamic State and other terrorist groups, electing to let the White House rely on a 16-year-old law passed after the Sept. 11 attacks as the legal basis to send U.S. troops into combat. Senators voted 61-36 scuttle an amendment to the annual defense policy bill by Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., that would have allowed war authorizations, created in the wake of al-Qaida´s 9/11 strikes, to lapse after six months. Paul, a leader of the GOP's noninterventionist wing, said Congress would use the time to debate an updated war authority for operations in Iraq,

Clinton, in the interview with CNN´s Anderson Cooper, displayed her animus for fired FBI Director James Comey, reflected on her love for the people -- namely former President Bill Clinton -- who helped her get through the crushing loss and blasted the arcane election body that she believes helped Donald Trump win the presidency. Hillary Clinton’s “What Happened” reads like a therapy session in which the losing presidential candidate works through the five stages of grief in real time. There’s plenty of anger, oodles of denial, bouts of depression, some desperate bargaining and finally a modicum of acceptance. But not before she’s thrown everyone from President Obama to Bernie Sanders under the bus for her loss to Donald Trump. Among her many laments? “I don’t think the press did their job,” as she tells Vox’s Ezra Klein. Expanding on that, she told him the press obsessed over Trump because she was talking policy while he was “good

Clinton began by saying that white voters have been leaving the Democratic Party since Lyndon Johnson predicted they would. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s campaign memoir includes a questionable interpretation of the central lesson of George Orwell’s novel “1984,” namely that individuals should trust those in positions of authority. Clinton’s memoir “What Happened,” released Tuesday, suggests the goal of the government-sanctioned torture featured prominently in Orwell’s novel is to erode trust in the authoritarian overlords who control all aspects of society. This perspective is diametrically opposed to the central lesson most readers have drawn from the book since it was published in 1949. “Attempting to define reality is a core feature of authoritarianism. This is what the Soviets
