Black Death Resurfaces in Multiple

The plague, also known as “the Black Death” killed somewhere between 75 and 200 million people as a result of international trade, commerce and transnational shipping. The disease was thought to be spread by fleas and parasites carried by rats. The global population took over 400 years to recover.ARIZONA – Officials in two Arizona counties are warning the public after fleas in the region tested positive for the plague, the infamous infectious disease that killed millions during the Middle Ages. Navajo County Public Health officials confirmed on Friday that fleas in the area have tested positive for the rare disease. The

Nothing new. Plague has been in the rodent populations in North America for a long time, maybe forever. It is regularly found in prairie dogs, and their fleas. Prairie dog hunters have known for many, many decades to never fool with a prairie dog you have shot, leave them for the hawks and coyotes.

When I was Armenia, I worked with a government group which sampled rodents and their fleas in the wild to make maps of plague distribution across their country.

Plague has been in rodent populations, scattered all across the world for a very long time.
Humans, as a species, have adapted to be relatively resistant to plague, but not all individuals, or all ethnic groups, are equally resistant. But fewer people die now, the great plagues largely sorted out those who couldn´t recover. Natural selection a huge scale at it´s ugliest.

It seems to me that the parasite pictured on the left is much more dangerous and deadly than the plague infested flea on the right.

Plague outbreaks in history are believed to have had their origins in the Middle East, actually the Gobi Desert region, spreading easily along trade routes, by caravans and the like.

Rats have traveled all over the world with humans.

If more plague is being identified in the Arizona area, then there´s probably more there.

And if something disturbs the host rodent from its natural habitat driving it into areas of denser human populations, you can have the ingredients for a plague epidemic. I doubt it would get to the pandemic stage, with all the anitbiotics available.

Of course, the plague bacillus has mutated somewhat. Who knows what form it really would take.

Fifty years ago part of the laundry list of immunizations given to troops headed to Vietnam was a plague vaccine injection.

One an episode of TV´s "Monsters Inside Me" was about a husband and wife from NM who took a trip to NYC and took sick. They were diagnosed with plague with which they had been infected before they left home. The wife got quite sick, but recovered. The husband nearly died and has lingering effects.

Apparently if the disease is properly diagnosed at an early stage it is easily treatable. Problem is so few cases annually and with symptoms resembling other more common maladies that doctors can be slow to hit on it´s being plague.

#3 is absolutely correct. New Mexico has a flare up every once in a while. People who handle wild animals, like bob cats, rabbits, skunks, and coyotes are very prone to acquiring a bad case of bubonic plague. When I worked in vector control in new Mexico we were getting a report of an isolated case of Yersinia pestis infection (BP). It is pretty much a harmless infectious diseae these days. It is not viral, but it is bacterial. It is transmitted to humans via a ´vector"- that is a flea that actually injects the bacteria into the human from the host animal. this happens when the human handles the carcass of the host animal. Feas immediately sense the host is dead through a drop in blood pressure. The start searching for a new host. This bounty trappers contract the disease when they take the trapped animals pelt for proof of killing it in order to collect the bounty. When I was working in New Mexico, Bob cat pelts drew $200.00. They were collected, dried and saved for when the BLM agent came to town- about once every two months and he would pay the bounty in cash! It´s a lucrative business- no taxes!

President Trump Afghanistan Speech

There’s been a considerable amount of solid debate on whether the U.S. should withdraw all troops from Afghanistan and just watch to see what happens from the outside. Against this backdrop President Trump is anticipated to call for a firm commitment to the region, perhaps adding 4,000 U.S. troops. President Trump will give a prime-time address to the nation at 9 p.m. tonight to detail his view of the U.S. role in Afghanistan, and the continued presence held. However, the majority of President Trump’s speech is now anticipated to be a ‘big picture’ overview with an accompanying public outline of expectations

An interesting article in the Washington Times poses a possibility of President Trump holding a deconfliction summit with North Korea –SEE HERE– And that begs a question of whether or not it’s actually plausible. I would state unequivocally yes, and here’s why. If you have followed the foreign policy pattern of President Trump you immediately recognize he does not restrain himself to DC political customs or DC political norms. Indeed as Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi optimistically noted, President Trump can accomplish many things because he brings a unique perspective to the world of policy and diplomatic engagement. An Ohio judge was shot Monday morning outside his courthouse in an ambush attack that ended when the judge and a probation officer returned fire, killing the attacker, authorities said. (Snip) The shooting occurred in Steubenville, Ohio, a city best known for a high-profile rape case involving high school football players. In a strange twist, the shooter was identified by authorities on Monday afternoon as Nathaniel Richmond, father of one of the two teenage boys found delinquent — or guilty — in 2013 as part of that rape case.

Two months after the USS Fitzgerald’s June 18 collision with a freighter in the Sea Of Japan, the Navy announced that the ship’s commanding officer, executive officer, and senior enlisted man were being relieved of their positions. It cited “loss of confidence” in them, and released a lengthy report on what happened aboard the ship after the collision. That report, however, contains no hint of accusation of improper or insufficient behavior on anyone’s part. It is silent about what actions on the part of the Fitz led to the collision in the first place, citing “continuing investigation.” But the indisputable

When a diagnosed schizophrenic who’d been prescribed antipsychotic medicine plowed into a crowd of “peaceful protesters”—who were, in fact, illegally blocking a street—and killed a woman in Charlottesville, VA on August 13, the perpetually self-discrediting establishment media seized on this incident as proof that Donald Trump and all his supporters were murderously violent Nazis. Last week when Trump held a press conference and stated the truth—that there had been violence on “both sides” in Charlottesville—the ideology-blinded establishment press screamed bloody murder. When a female reporter asked him to denounce the Alt-Right, he flipped the script: OK, what about the Alt-Left that came charging

POTUS Trump was proven right yet again. Just 24-hours after asking the media where the movement to destroy historical monuments would end – including tearing down those honoring figures like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, far left voices like Al Sharpton and others among within the media were demanding that very thing. Why is it then these very same voices refuse to acknowledge the deeply racist history of the Democrat Party? Where is the cry to destroy all the monuments devoted to figures like Woodrow Wilson, FDR, Lyndon Johnson, and Robert Byrd? Wilson was a determined segregationist who, when president of Princeton,

Bottom line, it’s the economics that really matter beyond all else.
