If you want to know where the progressive left wants to take U.S. elections, a trip through Maryland´s Washington, D.C.-area suburban counties is instructive. The City of College Park in Prince George´s County is on the verge of becoming the ninth city in Maryland to allow non-citizens – including illegal aliens – to vote in municipal elections. In a revealing 20-minute video of a June 7 council meeting, city officials discussed how best to get rid of the citizenship requirement so that virtually anyone of legal age living in the city can vote. A council vote is slated for August
In Belgium where I´ve lived for three decades, legal, non-citizen permanent residents are permitted to vote in local, but not provincial or national elections. However, there are requirements that must be met: there is a minimum residency time, and the applicant must show that they´re reasonably well "ingeburgered" (roughly, citizen-ized) and speak at least enough Dutch to read the ballot.
I see no harm in this sort of policy if such safeguards are in place. If College Park allows anybody, however, even illegals who do not have its best interests at heart to vote, they will also have to suffer the consequences of such a foolish decision. "Experience keeps a dear school, but a fool will learn by no other."
That´s Belgium, #3, this is the US. I could at least be a little sympathetic to this if a person owned a business with related interests or a home. The issues should contain very specific interest in which a non-citizen would be involved.
This open door is nonsense and is one more portal that has been opened simply to gain a Damnocrat advantage.
Finally if a non-citizen truly wants to vote, give up your citizenship and become an American Citizen like my Grandfather and millions of immigrants who gave up everything to come here to enjoy our freedoms and opportunities.
In these instances it probably does not make any difference in those one party progressive utopia municipal elections who votes, as liberal Democrats always win. Where the problem comes in is that they will also want to use the same voter registration rolls to qualify voters to vote in state and federal elections that could be held at the same time or even on other dates. That way the liberal progressives would just plead ignorance and claim that it would be impossible to burden already registered voters with a requirement to establish their citizenship when they appear at the polls on any Election Day involving state and federal elections.
When citizens vote to support such leftist idiots to positions of power over them, they rinse all the color and merit and usefulness out of their own citizenship. What is the benefit of being an American citizen if any person here can vote in our elections? Where does "America" end up? It simply ends, that´s where. Those morons throw away the futures of their own children.

Kolby Craig, 33, was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene at 2:35 a.m.,
President Trump received a commemorative Super Bowl ring from longtime friend and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft after the team visited the White House in April. A spokesman for the Patriots, Stacey James, told USA Today that Trump told Kraft during their White House visit how he was honored the Patriots were the first team to visit during his presidency. The team gifted Trump a jersey and a helmet during the April trip, but Kraft wanted to do more. James said Trump´s customized ring is the same as what the Patriots players and staff received for winning the Super Bowl.
Former Arkansas Gov. and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee told Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” on Sunday said that the GOP agenda is not being blocked by Democrats but rather “wuss Republicans who will not stand up to the pressure, and who will not do what they promised to do.” Huckabee also said that Republicans now have a good reason to defund Planned Parenthood, because it was started by “one of the most outrageous racists of all time - Margaret Sanger.” (Video) Huckabee was asked by host Maria Bartiromo about whether the Democrats are messing up the agenda by planning to
President Donald Trump said the U.S. is no longer nation-building but rather is "killing terrorists" during his primetime address Monday night at Fort Myer in Arlington, Va, regarding the U.S. path forward in Afghanistan. Trump said the U.S. will continue its support for the Afghan government and military as they fight the Taliban in the field, but said that it is up to the Afghan people to "take ownership of their future." "We are a partner and a friend, but we will not dictate to the Afghan people how to live or how to govern their own complex society," Trump
Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said Monday that Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), who was gravely wounded in a shooting this summer, will walk again. “He’s gonna walk but he’s gonna have to re-learn how to do it,” Ryan said during a CNN town hall in Racine, Wis., after Scalise joined a conference call with his GOP colleagues earlier in the day. “He sounded great. He sounded strong. He sounded like Steve-o.” Ryan described the recess conference call as “really emotional” for lawmakers. The Speaker has visited Scalise in the hospital countless times, but most of his colleagues have not heard
Over the course of last week, on NBC and MSNBC, host Chuck Todd gave a leg up to the violent Antifa movement by letting them defend their assaults on the police and innocent people not once, but twice. Todd’s interviews showed just how tolerant he was those who use violence to shut down free speech. And while Todd was absent from MTP Daily on Monday, Katy Tur picked up his torch and proudly pushed back against the First Amendment’s acknowledgment of a person’s right to free speech. “And challenging the First Amendment,” Tur declared during the show’s opening tease. “Should
Leading anti-Trump activists backed by major leftist donors are actively working with one task in mind: undermining the credibility of America’s leaders and creating a “political crisis” that forces President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence from office. Presentations from the group’s training conferences this weekend reveal the activists plan to impede the “ability to govern” of “those in power” and make America’s leaders “lose respect and legitimacy in the eyes of people here and internationally.” The group emphasizes that costing America’s leaders “international legitimacy” is key because it “is a very critical calculation for the rulers of this
President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump returned home to the White House Sunday with their son, Barron, after a 17-day working vacation at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. As Melania stepped off Air Force One in Washington D.C., the First Lady donned a color-blocked creme and lime-toned belted midi Delpozo dress with her famous tousled hair and sunglasses. The dress normally retails for $782, but is already sold out, according to Lyst. (Photos) Always one for meticulous details, Melania seemed to have coordinated her and Barron’s footwear for their arrival. On Melania, beige suede
The ancient pagan astrologers regarded solar eclipses as bad omens. So, too, did the rabbis of the Talmud, who warned in Tractate Sukkah, page 29a, that solar eclipses forecast ill fortune. But by that time, eclipses could be predicted. That raised a fundamental question about free will: how can eclipses be bad signs if we can predict them? The question the rabbis wrestled with was also familiar to St. Augustine, as well as other Christian philosophers. The rabbis’ answer was that Jews who kept God’s commandments did not have to worry about celestial omens. But many rabbis, especially the Kabbalists,
Sen. Susan Collins said Monday that it´s not clear to her if Trump will win the Republican nomination in 2020. "It´s far too early to tell now," Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said on MSNBC. "There is a long ways between now and that point." It´s almost unthinkable in modern American politics for an incumbent president to fail to secure his party´s nomination; there hasn´t been a serious primary challenge against a sitting president since 1976, when Ronald Reagan ran against Gerald Ford. But Trump is also unpopular nationwide, and has frustrated congressional Republicans with his political leadership. Collins faulted him,
The National Science Foundation is spending nearly $200,000 on an "implicit bias" conference. The conference will gather "leading experts on racism and prejudice" to write a report on how to make unconscious bias training, which assumes that "everyone is a little bit racist or sexist," more effective. "This project brings together experts on prejudice and discrimination to have a deep discussion and write up a report to understand what various measures of bias represent and best ways to measure implicit bias," according to the grant for the project. "During the past century, racial attitudes in America have been radically transformed.
President Trump will address the nation tonight from the Oval Office to announce his strategy for Afghanistan. Details are being withheld, but it is expected the president will announce an increase in American troops to counter recent gains by the Taliban and the growing strength of ISIS. Politico: The move comes after the dismissal Friday of chief strategist Steve Bannon, who voiced skepticism about an increased military footprint in the region and preferred outsourcing some of the duties to private contractors. Vice President Mike Pence and national security adviser H.R. McMaster were said to have encouraged Trump to accept his
Two members of the Kennedy family were arrested for disorderly conduct near the family’s famed compound on Cape Cod, according to police. Max Kennedy, the 52-year-old son of Robert F. Kennedy, was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and a noise violation around 1 a.m. Sunday morning after reports of loud partying, Barnstable Police told the Boston Herald. His daughter Caroline, a 22-year-old California resident, was also arrested at a home a short walk from the main Kennedy compound. (Snip) The arrests come after a brush with the law for another of RFK’s grandchildren, Conor Kennedy, who
“There must always” be a flow low-skilled immigration to the United States, no matter its impact on American workers, according to Republican establishment figure Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ). Flake slammed the idea of potentially cutting legal immigration levels in half to raise the wages of American workers and end the current low-skilled oriented system to make only admit immigrants based on their skills and merit in a New York Times op-ed. Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR) and David Perdue (R-GA) introduced the specific plan, known as the “RAISE Act.” President Donald Trump endorsed the plan and said the legislation “will reduce poverty, increase
WASHINGTON – Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) said many federal employees are leaving the Environmental Protection Agency and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration over “fear” that the Trump administration is going to “suppress their viewpoints” or move them to irrelevant positions. Beyer, ranking member of the House Science, Space and Technology Subcommittee on Oversight, was asked if he would have full access to the “unfiltered” final version of the latest federal government report on climate change. The New York Times published a leaked draft of the report, which was submitted to the Trump administration for review. “The majority members of my committee may
Missouri State Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal hoped for the assassination of President Trump in a Facebook comment on Thursday then deleted it in a panic. She even acknowledged she would get a visit from the Secret Service for her comment. (Photo) Maria Chappelle-Nadal’s Facebook comment was so egregious that even ABC News reported on the story. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports: Missouri state Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal, D-University City, posted a comment in a Facebook conversation Thursday morning saying she hoped President Donald Trump will be assassinated. The comment was removed but Chappelle-Nadal confirmed to the Post-Dispatch that she had written it in
The Rev. Jesse Jackson on Sunday gave a strong endorsement to the movement for removing monuments to leaders of the Confederacy and called for the electoral college to be abolished. Speaking at the Islamic Center of Southern California, Jackson blamed the electoral college system, giving disproportionate influence to less populated states, for the 2000 and 2016 loss of Democratic presidential candidates Al Gore and Hillary Clinton despite their winning the popular vote. “Today we are looking at a structural problem,” Jackson said. “These monuments must go. Calling for the audience to repeat, he said, “Say the monuments and the flags
WASHINGTON — The Secret Service can no longer pay hundreds of agents it needs to carry out an expanded protective mission – in large part due to the sheer size of President Trump´s family and efforts necessary to secure their multiple residences up and down the East Coast. Secret Service Director Randolph "Tex´´ Alles, in an interview with USA TODAY, said more than 1,000 agents have already hit the federally mandated caps for salary and overtime allowances that were meant to last the entire year. The agency has faced a crushing workload since the height of the contentious election season, and it
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) has revealed that during the 2016 presidential campaign, House Speaker Paul Ryan told him and his fellow Republicans to give up on Donald Trump´s campaign and just focus their energy on keeping "President Hillary Clinton accountable." According to Ryan, the Republicans had no chance at the White House, so at the very least they should try to retain their House majority. The directive came during a conference call, Gohmert told The Daily Caller in a video interview and then confirmed again during his appearance on "Fox & Friends" Sunday. The Texas Republican, as you can imagine, was not
Ten sailors are missing and five have been reported injured after the USS John S McCain was involved in a collision with a merchant vessel on Monday morning, the Navy has said. The collision between the US guided-missile destroyer and merchant vessel Alnic MC was reported at 5.24am local time. The John McCain was underway east of Singapore and the Strait of Malacca, on its way to a routine port visit in Singapore. It is now sailing under its own power and heading to port, the Navy said. The crew is reportedly fighting flooding in two crew berthings and an area of the ship known as the 'shaft alley'.
A Texas college campus removed four statues of prominent Confederate figures in an overnight sweep, according to reports. The statues of Gen. Robert E. Lee, Gen. Albert Sidney Johnston, Confederate Postmaster General John H. Reagan and former Texas Gov. James Stephen Hogg were each taken down from the campus’ Main Mall in an operation beginning just before midnight and continuing through the early morning, KSAT 12 reported. “Last week, the horrific displays of hatred at the University of Virginia and in Charlottesville shocked and saddened the nation,” University of Texas President Greg Fenves said in a statement. “These events make
The eclipse that occurred over Chicago led thousands to the beaches and streets, where they gasped and cried out as the sun partially disappeared. For WGN meteorologist Tom Skilling, it was an especially awe-inspiring event. The famed meteorologist hugged and high-fived people around him and wept as the eclipse occurred Monday afternoon. "Oh, my word," Skilling said. "Wow. This is amazing. What do you think of this, this?" At another point, he told viewers, "I´ll get my act together, guys." His voice cracking, Skilling apologized for his tears. Skilling´s heartfelt reaction earned him praise from fans:
Thanks to Monday´s solar eclipse, disastrous traffic jams have been taking over the country these last few days. And as folks leave the first coast-to-coast solar eclipse since 1918, the U.S. Department of Transportation estimated that nearly two-thirds of the nation´s resident live withing a day´s drive of the path of totality. And with Oregon being the first to see the eclipse, it and neighboring state Washington are experiencing the worst bouts of the traffic jams. ´This is the biggest transportation event that has ever hit Oregon,´ Dave Thompson, a spokesman for the Oregon Department of Transportation told AP. Oregon
Trust in the mass media is at an all-time low. Two-thirds of Americans believe the mainstream press publishes fake news. Yes, there’s still much good journalism to be found, if you know where to look. Yet, ask reporters who’ve been around a while, and many will tell you that a lot of good journalism is being left unpublished. Good journalists hate what’s happening to the news. We have only ourselves to blame. Firewalls that once strictly separated news from opinion have been replaced by hopelessly blurred lines. Once-forbidden practices such as editorializing within straight news reports, and the inclusion of opinions as if
