ObamaCare déjà vu? Moderates extracting
‘payoffs’ for vote on health bill

Fox News, by By Brooke Singman

Original Article

Posted By:iamshazzam, 7/17/2017 6:10:53 PM

Even with the Senate health care bill on hold pending the return of a key lawmaker, moderate Republicans already have extracted what critics call "payoffs" from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in exchange for their support. Those familiar with the process, even from the other side of the aisle, told Fox News “this is how things get done.” But the sweeteners are reminiscent of the wheeling and dealing then-Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., did to pass ObamaCare, which Republicans criticized at the time.

Comments:
Why don´t they just "kill the bill?" There is NO provision in our constitution that makes "health care" a right.

Our givernment does not have a constitutional right to utilize my tax dollars to pay for another persons health care!! It is time our elected officials, those who now hold the majority, thanks to us, get their act together and bring our government back to a constitutional government. Stop this madness! If they want to dedicate dollars to health care, take all the "supposed global warming" dollars they have confiscated on a lie, and put those in a fund to take care of people who can´t (or won´t) take care of themselves.

Good for you, #3. We are so disgusted with this circus! Republicans in Congress (House & Senate) better abide by Republican principles and stop being part of the swamp.

Another example of Republican "leaders" simply being "Democrat lite". The UniParty is exactly that.

I think they should say, " If you like Obamacare you can keep your Obamacare", "If you like paying a penalty for not having Obamacare you can keep paying a penalty for not having it". If you can find an insurer to cover you. (sarcasm on)
I think all those who love Obamacare should be able to keep it, they think it is so good, especially all the politicians who have the best care there is should have been mandated to have Obamacare ever since it was passed.

It´s called politics, and the only way you get to a consensus is to make adjustments and make concessions.

Like the old saying, you shouldn´t watch laws or sausage being made, both process are not pretty.

Politics is the art of the possible, no matter how much I don´t like the damned bill, it is probably the best that we can get with this particular set of RINOs.

I´ll take any baby step on the right direction and come back next year for more.

#7 - the problem with your post is: "consensus" with the democrats means doing it their way. We didn´t vote this last election to keep "getting along" with the democrats. Plus, the republicans will never take the next step. Instead, like dumbo´s, they will think they need to give in to democrats in order to win democrat votes. Never gonna happen! Stay true to our base and they will remain in congress. Give in and we will vote them out!

Why should the Soviet Party and the Repuke Party repeal anything? THEY ARE EXEMPT! They´ve got the best health care in the world. As long as they are exempt ... pffffft! Who cares? Let the surfs eat cake... and die!

President Donald Trump may want to tighten requirements on who can immigrate to the United States, but Rev. Jesse Jackson thinks he should instead worry about his own citizenship in heaven. "Trump says you must be able to speak the language of English, [be] qualified, and have a job skill," Jackson said Monday. "Jesus would not qualify to come in Trump´s country—he would not qualify to get into Jesus´ kingdom." Jackson made the comment Monday at the "Ministers March for Justice," which was spearheaded by Rev. Al Sharpton and featured ministers from various traditions united in opposing the Trump administration.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said that America is still committed to traditional alliances and values, despite doubts that have emerged due to the "actions and statements of our president." McCain said in remarks Saturday at the Ambrosetti Forum, a major economic and policy conference, that he realizes that he comes to Italy "at a time when many are questioning whether America is still committed to remaining engaged in the world, to upholding our traditional alliances and standing up for the values we share." John McCain, Arizona´s Republican senator, has written a stirring op-ed in the Washington Post calling for an end to Washington dysfunction and imploring his fellow legislators to stand up to President Trump. "We must respect his authority and constitutional responsibilities," McCain wrote of Mr. Trump. "We must, where we can, cooperate with him. But we are not his subordinates. We don´t answer to him. We answer to the American people. We must be diligent in discharging our responsibility to serve as a check on his power. And we should value our identity as members of Congress more than our partisan affiliation."

Michelle Obama looked ever the A-lister as she stepped out for a workout and a yacht trip in Mallorca, Spain. The former First Lady, 53, shielded herself from the sun with shades and a black hood to enjoy a hike around the island on Thursday. She was surrounded by members of her staff tagging along for the sweat session, with members of her security team flanking her. Michelle is in Mallorca to visit American diplomat James Costos and his partner, Michael Smith. Her husband, former President Barack Obama, does not appear to have accompanied her on the international trip. The

The U.S. Justice Department has no evidence to support President Donald Trump’s statement in March that phones in Trump Tower were wiretapped at the order of his predecessor, Barack Obama, before last year’s election, according to a court filing Friday. The assertion came in a motion filed in a Freedom of Information request from a government transparency watchdog, American Oversight, which sought information about any surveillance involving Trump, (Snip) “Both FBI and NSD confirm that they have no records related to wiretaps as described by the March 4, 2017 tweets,” the Justice Department filing said.

America tried to let Hillary Clinton off the hook. Despite cries of “lock her up” during the campaign, most of the nation had little appetite for prosecuting her after the election, with even Donald Trump willing to give her a free pass. “I don’t want to hurt the Clintons, I really don’t,” Trump told The New York Times two weeks after his victory. “She went through a lot and suffered greatly in many different ways.” But the Clinton e-mail scandal, like Clinton herself, won’t go away. It remains a blot on the legacy of the Obama administration, the Justice Department and the

A Utah nurse screamed “help me” after a cop handcuffed her for refusing to draw blood on an unconscious patient July 26, police body camera footage showed. The video showed University of Utah Hospital nurse Alex Wubbels, an Alpine skier who participated in the 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympic games, calmly explaining to Salt Lake Detective Jeff Payne that she could not draw blood from a patient who had been injured in a car accident, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. Wubbels told Payne the patient was required to give consent for a blood sample or be under arrest. Otherwise,

Now we know why the FBI made the absurd claim that it would not release its files on the Hillary Clinton email investigation for alleged lack of public interest. The FBI was covering up its obstruction of justice in the, er, “matter” knowing full well that former Director James Comey had already exonerated Hillary Clinton before the alleged investigation was complete and all witnesses had been interviewed and months before Comey falsely claimed in his announcement that no competent prosecutor would take Hillary’s case. In withholding the files sought under Freedom of Information Act requests, the FBI forgot that it and

Thousands of Dreamers have used a loophole in federal law to get on a full pathway to citizenship, top congressional Republicans revealed Friday, citing government data withheld by the Obama administration but provided by the Trump administration. The Dreamers were all part of DACA, the legally questionable amnesty program that’s under scrutiny right now as President Trump decides whether to scrap the Obama-era amnesty. The House and Senate Judiciary Committees revealed that more than 45,000 DACA recipients were approved for “advance parole,” which is permission to leave and reenter the U.S. despite not being in permanent legal status here. Trump told reporters Friday he was still mulling the decision. Responding to a question about Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, on his hometown radio station WCLO in Janesville, Wisconsin, Ryan said Congress was working on a legislative fix to preserve the program.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mark Eves believes “Maine’s whiteness is bad news” according to remarks he delivered during a Maine People’s Alliance event this week. According to Maine First Media and Big League Politics, the former Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives delivered the remarks while addressing a group of nearly one hundred activists and grassroots supporters Wednesday evening at the “Resistance Rising” forum event put on by the Maine People’s Alliance in Lewiston. Word has reached me that Robert Redford and Jane Fonda have made another romantic comedy. That’s right, Redford and Fonda in the, uh, saddle again. Their last one being The Electric Horseman in 1979 (my two favorites in that one were the horse and Willie Nelson). The new offering is called Our Souls at Night and Netflix subscribers can watch it the 29th of this month. As Magnum, P.I. might have put it, I know what you’re thinking. Redford is 81, Fonda 79. Our Bob might need a stunt double for the sex scenes. (I can picture the stunt guy now
