Jeff Sessions Announces

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions said the Justice Department will issue new directives to increase the federal govenment´s use of civil asset forfeiture, a controversial practice that allows law enforcement to seize property from suspected criminals without charging them with a crime. Speaking at a National District Attorneys Association conference in Minneapolis Monday, Sessions said state and local law enforcement could expect changes from U.S. Attorneys in several areas: increased prosecution of gun crimes, immigration offenses, gang activity, and prescription drug abuse, as well as increased asset seizure by the federal government.

It´s still armed robbery when the robbers have badges.

Spread the word in the immigrant community that fraudulent accumulation of wealth will not be tolerated and subject to forfeiture. Every penny of value illegals have is a product of fraud, a con that costs the American people billions annually at all levels of government. Find them, take it, and watch the roads south jam with vehicles stacked high with possessions. Build the wall with the proceeds.

Sessions has been a yuge, yuge disappointment.

Leftists have been committing one criminal act after another - - and this guy is focusing on drug addiction and property seizures.

Bad, bad appointment.

Folks, this is not good. When in Justice, I´m very familiar with Asset Forfeiture. This is very dangerous if not monitored and enforced carefully.

AG Sessions, be very careful because this has created problems for innocent people.

I´m not getting a good feeling about this.

I don´t suppose Washington D.C. has ever heard of the 5th Amendment, which states that no person shall "be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."

Where is the due process when you have to spend your time and money to prove that your cash is not guilty of a crime, when no crime was committed? You "could" have been thinking about using that cash to buy drugs.

When money or a car is taken from a citizen and given to a police department, what is that except private property taken for public use? These people are shameless, and corrupt.

Do not agree with this - no due process, absolute give-up with no warning.

Take this scenario: I buy expensive vehicle from investment and retirement funds. I drive said vehicle in whatever state. Suddenly, I am pulled over for driving under some stupid offense..like 40 in a 25 zone, a vehicle bought with retirement or other cash funds from work.

They take said vehicle in lieu of ...what? Never get it back. That has happened to people I know.

I want to state a simple, obvious truth: The War on Drugs is not real. It does not exist, not for millions of Americans. Sometimes I doubt myself on this point. One hears things, after all. For instance, did you know that America spends over $51 billion per year on this war against drugs? Did you know that about 1.25 million Americans are arrested annually for drug possession? That 643,000 of them were only in possession of marijuana? That since 2006, over 100,000 people have been killed in Mexico’s drug war? You probably did know that, more or less.

On the Saturday before the Fourth of July, Donald Trump tweeted, “My use of social media is not Presidential — it’s MODERN DAY PRESIDENTIAL. Make America Great Again!” I joked on Twitter that I thought this was a perfectly apt explanation for a real-estate guy. After all, that’s how President Trump spent much of his life, hawking condos by spinning downsides as upsides. In real-estate jargon, an ad that boasts a “unique design” might actually mean “toilet in the kitchen.” An “original” “fixer-upper” in an “up-and-coming neighborhood” might still have the chalk body outlines on bloodstained floors.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is asking congressional leaders to undo federal medical marijuana protections that have been in place since 2014, according to a May letter that became public Monday. The protections, known as the Rohrabacher-Farr amendment, prohibit the Justice Department from using federal funds to prevent certain states "from implementing their own State laws that authorize the use, distribution, possession or cultivation of medical marijuana." In his letter, first obtained by Tom Angell of Massroots.com and verified independently by The Washington Post, Sessions argued that the amendment would "inhibit [the Justice Department´s] authority to enforce the Controlled Substances Act."

The truth is, it´s not hard: Agents just go to an airport and wait for cash to drop into their laps. A March report by the Justice Department´s inspector general (I.G.) found the DEA seized a whopping $4 billion in cash over the past decade using civil asset forfeiture, mostly from airports, train stations, and bus terminals. Contrary to DEA rhetoric, these seizures have little to do with ongoing criminal investigations and everything to do with bringing in money. In
