Blade Runner 2049 trailer: Harrison Ford
and Ryan Gosling gaze upon the future

Independent [UK], by Clarisse Loughrey

(Video) - A new trailer for Blade Runner 2049 has arrived. The highly-anticipated sequel to a cinematic classic is closing quarters, with this new look promising that Denis Villeneuve´s turn on directing duties will deliver something no less visually astounding, having already found his fair share of acclaim with the likes of Sicario and Arrival. It´ll have to be seen whether he can maintain the look over the course of the entire film, but even in this tiny glimpse, Villeneuve´s already perfectly captured the cold, foggy aesthetics of the original spliced in with a dash of that iconic neon glow. We've also been finally offered a premise,

Comments:
It´s good to plan for the future, even though it may just be six months from now. Those of US who were treated to the earlier syfi vision by director Ridley Scott, after seeing this trailer, will look forward to the sequel. I am. Of course, the story takes place in 2049. I pray there are no politically correct mention of "climate Change", especially with a bust of Al Gore somewhere. (BTW, glad new "Dr. Who" regeneration is female named Jodie Whittaker.)

Projecting way out to the administration of President Barron Trump can be risky.

Who knows what else may be happening then?

I wonder why they felt they needed to stick a year on the title? That is never a good idea if you ask me. 2049 is not that far in the future.

Blade Runner was loosely based on a sci-fi novel called "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" and was an alternate dystopian universe...so therefore any "predictions" pronounced therein are all "in situ" of that universe.

Although, with all the work being done on AI now, the idea of replicants et al is not that far off the mark and Blade Runner has always been a cautionary tale. You would think todays Hollywood would be interested in keeping up that conversation, but I dont believe Hollywood has any more people with souls willing to explore anymore. Its all about the blockbuster and higher returns on an investment. Frankly, I hope Rick Decker is killed off. Am really tired of Harrison Ford and his schtick. I think he started sliding downhill when he started dating ol´ Skeletor, that woman he left Melissa Matheson for...

President Donald Trump, the guy who promised to drain the swamp, is instead sinking fast into its muddy waters, one wrong DACA move away from drowning. Now just because Trump’s sat down with Democrats to discuss border deals doesn’t mean a deal’s been struck. No need to condemn the president just yet. He is, after all, simply trying to work with both sides of the political aisle, a feat that’s generally praised, in political circles, as bipartisanship. But perception in politics means everything. Messaging and the media are paramount. The left will use whatever means available to drive a wedge between

Washington - President Trump launched an early morning Twitter barrage Friday, starting with comments triggered by news of a terrorist bomb on a London subway and then rapidly veering into attacks on the sports network ESPN and calls for a tougher travel ban. "Another attack in London by a loser terrorist. These are sick and demented people who were in the sights of Scotland Yard. Must be proactive!" Trump tweeted, implying that British authorities also knew the identity of who planted the bomb. So far, however, no suspects have been identified or whether anyone was involved was being tracked by Scotland Yard,

The ballistic missile launched by North Korea was capable of reaching the US territory of Guam, according to scientists and defence chiefs. Fired over northern Japan into the Pacific Ocean, it travelled 2,300 miles (3,700 km) in 19 minutes, according to the South Korean military. Pyongyang has previously threatened to attack Guam, the tiny island which is home to a US military base, 2,110 miles from North Korea. Experts said the range of the missile, the latest act of aggression against a neighbour and key Western ally, was "significant". "It flew a distance that is more than enough to reach Guam," said Japanese Defence Minister

Seoul, South Korea - South Korea’s military says North Korea fired an unidentified missile from its capital Pyongyang in a continuation of weapons tests following its sixth and most powerful nuclear test to date on Sept. 3. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said Friday that the missile was launched from Sunan, the site of Pyongyang’s international airport. The North last month used the airport to fire a Hwasong-12 intermediate range missile that flew over northern Japan in what it declared as a “meaningful prelude” to containing the U.S. Pacific island territory of Guam and the start of more ballistic missile launches

Satellite images taken since the regime conducted what it claims was a test of a thermonuclear device at its Punggye-ri proving grounds on September 3 have revealed mining equipment and heavy cargo trucks close to a shaft excavated to the south of the test site. Additional activity has also been confirmed at another underground access point, known as the West Portal. Analysts believe the damage caused by the recent test to subterranean

The Senate on Wednesday rejected a bipartisan push for a new war authorization against the Islamic State and other terrorist groups, electing to let the White House rely on a 16-year-old law passed after the Sept. 11 attacks as the legal basis to send U.S. troops into combat. Senators voted 61-36 scuttle an amendment to the annual defense policy bill by Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., that would have allowed war authorizations, created in the wake of al-Qaida´s 9/11 strikes, to lapse after six months. Hillary Clinton’s “What Happened” reads like a therapy session in which the losing presidential candidate works through the five stages of grief in real time. There’s plenty of anger, oodles of denial, bouts of depression, some desperate bargaining and finally a modicum of acceptance. But not before she’s thrown everyone from President Obama to Bernie Sanders under the bus for her loss to Donald Trump. Among her many laments? “I don’t think the press did their job,” as she tells Vox’s Ezra Klein. Expanding on that, she told him the press obsessed over Trump because she was talking policy while he was “good

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s campaign memoir includes a questionable interpretation of the central lesson of George Orwell’s novel “1984,” namely that individuals should trust those in positions of authority. Clinton’s memoir “What Happened,” released Tuesday, suggests the goal of the government-sanctioned torture featured prominently in Orwell’s novel is to erode trust in the authoritarian overlords who control all aspects of society. This perspective is diametrically opposed to the central lesson most readers have drawn from the book since it was published in 1949. “Attempting to define reality is a core feature of authoritarianism. This is what the Soviets
