Through Selective Security Clearances,
Unelected Intelligence Agencies Claim
Power To Veto President’s Advisors

The Federalist, by Angelo Codevilla

On July 8 The New York Times reported that President Trump’s adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner’s application for a security clearance had failed to report his contact with some Russians. The media found this ominous. I do too, but for a different reason. The national security agencies of the executive branch are demanding that the president communicate about national security matters only with advisers to whom they issue clearances. Someone in the FBI had slipped Kushner’s questionnaire to the Times. Publication of the story underlined the threat to withdraw the clearance. Nor is this an idle threat. On February 11,

The American people would love to see the security applications for Valery Jarret and Huma Abedin.

Maybe the FBI can leak those.

And again, the apparatchik will not be found, tried, nor jailed. The inmates are running the asylum, and it´s a serious problem.

Critical Senate Votes for Corruption Trial:

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) admitted last week that she was unaware that fellow Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez (N.J.) could miss critical upcoming votes in the Senate because of his corruption trial, which is set to begin next week. A constituent asked Warren at a town hall in Concord, Mass. whether she had an alternative plan in case Menendez is not able to partake in critical votes, noting that Senate Democrats would need "another vote." "I never played poker and there was a reason," Warren said, pointing at her face. "The answer is no, I don´t have a plan b,

Conclusion first, facts second. That, allegedly, was the mentality of ex-FBI Director James Comey in dealing with Hillary Clinton’s e-mail scandal. Yet this revelation was ignored by ABC, CBS and NBC on Thursday and Friday. Comey, who was fired by Donald Trump in May, decided against criminal charges of Hillary Clinton before 17 interviews of witnesses were even complete. Fox News, MSNBC and CNN all highlighted the story. Yet, despite a combined nine and a half hours of air time on Thursday night and Friday morning, the networks couldn’t be bothered. To be clear, the reason for ignoring this damning

Bad approval ratings don’t phase the White House as spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Friday that they are “silly.” A Fox News poll released Wednesday showed that 56 percent of voters believe Trump is “tearing the country apart,” and his approval rating in Gallup polling has been consistently in the 30 percentile range for the past several weeks. “I think a lot of these polls are the same polls that predicted that Donald Trump…would never be the president and he’s sitting in the Oval Office as I stand here,” Sanders said at Friday’s press briefing when asked about how the

Activists are discouraging Hurricane Harvey donors from giving to the American Red Cross and urging them instead to contribute to left-wing causes, some of which are advocacy groups engaged in little if any emergency relief work. Linda Sarsour, a prominent Muslim and feminist activist, sent out a tweet encouraging donors to give to the Texas Organizing Project Education Fund, which conducts “direct action organizing, grass-roots lobbying and electoral organizing led by working families in Texas.” “TOP is one of many organizations on this list you can choose to support,” Ms. Sarsour said in a Wednesday tweet that included the #NoRedCross

Dogs have long been called man’s best friend, and as you see the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey’s trip through Texas, you know why. So many stories from southeast Texas have popped up in recent days about the lengths people will go to save our four-legged friends. All throughout social media, on TV, and elsewhere in the press have been pictures, videos, and accounts of dogs in the flood waters of Houston and wastelands of communities hit by Harvey’s winds. The first furry friend who made waves on social media was Otis, a dog from Sinton, Texas who got loose during

Antifa is a violent, anti-fascist protest group with deep roots in the political left. The disparate, loosely organized factions of the group are peppered throughout the country and show up at events that they deem ‘fascist’ in order to disrupt and often engage in criminal behavior. A detailed list of what antifa stands for is hard to pin down, but it is certainly anti-Trump, and the group´s tactics typically involve the destruction of property and violence towards innocent civilians. That violence has resulted in a number of antifa arrests over the past few months. Last weekend, marauding mobs of antifa

SAN FRANCISCO-- Acrid, black smoke was seen pouring from a chimney at the Russian consulate in San Francisco Friday, a day after the Trump administration ordered its closure amid escalating tensions between the United States and Russia. Firefighters who arrived at the scene were turned away by consulate officials who came from inside the building. An Associated Press reporter heard people who came from inside the building tell firefighters that there was no problem and that consulate staff were burning unidentified items in a fireplace. It is never good when the Justice Department appears to be following the guidelines written by Lewis Carroll as opposed to the U.S. Attorneys Manual. The manual goes into great detail over the need to review evidence, witnesses and culpability before initiating or declining charges. It is hard to see how such provisions were followed by former FBI Director James Comey, who reportedly drafted a statement declining charges in the Hillary Clinton email scandal in May 2016, before interviewing key witnesses, including Clinton herself. He issued his controversial announcement of no charges two months later. For many, the timing looks

Actress Martha Plimpton (The Goonies, The Real O’Neals) interviewed Willie Parker, a Mississippi abortionist and former Planned Parenthood medical director, on his Life’s Work memoir released earlier this year.
