Social Security And Medicare Are

Pensions: Even in normal years, the annual Social Security and Medicare trustees´ reports typically get overlooked. This year is far from normal. But the reports should be top of mind for anyone who cares about retirement security. The Social Security report finds that the "trust fund" will run out of money in just 17 years. The news only gets worse from there. The program´s unfunded liability over the next 75 years is now $12.5 trillion, which is up from $11.4 trillion last year and $4.7 trillion a decade ago. In other words, Social Security´s long-term unfunded liability has increased by 166% in

How about not giving money to people that have never paid into the system. How much money did the affordable care act take from medicare for startup money.

This outcome alone should have been tackled years ago by bringing to a screeching stop those immigrants (whether "refugees" using the new meaning of the word) who cannot work or speak English or have more than one wife, etc., and pay their way.

When W was president, he proposed self-directed individual retirement accounts as the fix. This would have effectively taken the whole program out of the gummint´s hands.

Still waiting for the fix. Or is it too little too late.

Don´t worry - RINOs in the Senate are keeping the extra 1.9% from our income over $250k for Medicare. Oh - they are using this money and 3.8% investment income tax to pay off Senators to vote for Trumpcare´s non-repeal of Obamacare.

Good job guys - you´ve got the House, the Senate and now the White House; next up is a Continuing Resolution to fund the $400 Billion a month Federal Government - vs Trump´s budget.

And you expect me to vote for yall big-time next November???

Trump needs to call out RINOs that he wants to defeat next year, so we can start culling the spineless ones - like McConnell & Ryan...

I started SS in 1968 when I took my first civilian job as an order picker in an industrial warehouse supply. I remember not knowing a thing about that deduction. But, I also remember way back then the political harping going on about how it had to be fixed! That is was not sustainable. That something had to be done. Well, here we are, 49 years later...same old problem. Politicians truly are worthless, aren´t they?

My HUGE pet peeve with Social Security is that as the govt. takes your money from your paycheck they NEVER pay a penny in interest on it. Why is that?

THEN when you go to get it back they charge you taxes on it.

When my grandfather was on SS, in the 60s, there were 15 workers paying into the system to fund his checks.
Now that I am on SS, there are two or three workers, last I heard, paying in for my check.

Simple math.

They are running out of other people´s money. Thank goodness I planned my retirement to where SS is helpful, but I can survive if it is cut off - this is because, from a teenager, I never trusted SS to be there for me. It was apparent at the time that it was an unstable Ponzi scheme, and nothing has improved in the 50 years since.

And for anyone still believing the "trust fund" story, it is a pile of IOUs, redeemable by increasing taxes or reducing spending at some future time to divert that revenue to pay back what was spent decades ago. Essentially a fraud, but a very legally laid out one. Does anyone believe that there will be more revenue or lower spending to pay these back? Me neither.

How about ´aunt´ Zesumi or whatever the Obamination´s aunt was called and the forever drunk ´uncle´ stopping them from collecting? How about Mouchelle´s mother who suddenly gets $160,000 per year for what???
Let´s remove all the ´disabled´ who weigh several hundred pounds, are able to lift up a fork and pick up a check.....On and on.....let´s clean all that trash out and you will see SS and Medicare will suddenly be in much better shape!

Taxes: Is the GOP getting serious about tax reform at last? Republicans in Congress say they´ll unveil the outlines of a consensus plan in two weeks, as President Trump hits the hustings to stump for tax reform. We hope this isn´t another false start. "Reform" is one of those words that sounds easy, but really isn´t. Every political interest group has a dog in the fight, and no one wants to give up a cherished deduction. Promises: Is President Trump going back on a centerpiece of his campaign and the rallying point for much of his base? It sure looked like it. Trump should know, however, that he will get nothing in return from Democrats. There is always the temptation in Washington for conservatives to give up on their principles, if only to gain a reprieve from the endless negative coverage. When it happens, the press typically describes the betrayal as "growing in office." Trump was hardly a rock-ribbed conservative when he came to Washington. His stated positions on health care, drug prices, trade and other issues put

Health Reform: Democrats are lining up to endorse Sen. Bernie Sanders´ plan to socialize medicine. But have they actually read what it is they are signing up for? Sanders touts his "Medicare for all" as the solution to all our nation´s health care woes. No more premiums, no more deductibles or copays, no provider networks. The government would pick up all the costs, except for possibly minimal copays for prescription drugs. Private insurance would be effectively outlawed. A third of Senate Democrats co-sponsored Sanders´ bill, and a similar measure in the House has 117 Democratic co-sponsors. Sanders is now the standard-bearer for

If you can´t win, change the rules. Democrats and progressive activists are joining forces to urge the U.S. Supreme Court to interfere in how election districts are drawn in all 50 states. In Gill v. Growth: Buried amid a deluge of nasty news ranging from the growing North Korean nuclear threat to killer hurricanes hitting our coasts, the Census Bureau reports that median household income, a broad gauge of family financial well-being, hit its highest level ever last year. That´s another strong sign that the economy is trying to break out of its 10-year growth slump. Health Care: On the surface, the Census Bureau´s report looks like another win for ObamaCare, as the uninsured rate dropped to 8.8% in 2016. But a close look shows that whatever gains ObamaCare was making are over. The Census report says that, overall, the number of uninsured dropped by 914,000 between 2015 and 2016. That pushed the uninsured rate down three-tenths of a percentage point. It´s being heralded as further evidence that ObamaCare is working, and that Republican efforts to dismantle the program are horribly misguided. But look inside the numbers. Almost no commentator, no reviewer, has mentioned the most newsworthy fact about Hillary Clinton´s latest memoir—which is the near total lack of anything actually newsworthy in the book. With What Happened, Clinton would at last "let down her hair," Simon & Schuster´s publicists loudly proclaimed before the book´s publication. And that was the line dutifully repeated by reporter after reporter, as though it were a fact. As though, coming from Clinton´s people, it didn´t need to be checked or reported with even the slight distancing of "Hillary Clinton says she´s let down her hair in her new book." But then,

Chelsea Manning has been making quite a spectacle of himself out on Twitter, taking Michael Morrell´s and Mike Pompeo´s exit from the school as a welcome new opportunity to call attention to himself. He starts with an emoji-filled cheer at news of Morrell´s resignation from his own Harvard post based on its bad judgment in bringing him into the university to ´mentor´ students, declaring it ´good´ that Morrell has pulled out. Not a thought about how Morrell´s exit might affect Harvard, it´s all about himself and his feelings instead. Note the high emoji count, by the way - an advertisement

Melania Trump put on an incredibly glamorous display as she joined her husband President Donald Trump in hosting a black-tie dinner at the White House. The 47-year-old looked a world away from the incredibly casual figure she had cut earlier in the day when she visited hurricane-hit areas of Florida, when she opted to wear jeans, a baggy shirt and $50 Converse sneakers, donning an $8,000 Monique Lhuillier gown for the White House Historical Association dinner and reception. Standing alongside her husband as he took to the stage to welcome guests to the decadent evening event, Melania was the picture
