Several Democrats in Congress warned President Trump on Friday that he will face consequences if he fires special counsel Robert Mueller and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. “All Americans, regardless of party, agree on the fundamental principle that no one is above the law,” Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) told MSNBC Friday. “And if President Trump were to fire Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein, and then [get] special counsel Mueller fired, I believe Congress would begin impeachment proceedings.” Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) echoed Lieu’s sentiments, saying that Congress would come together to make sure they
This idiots still don´t get it do they? Since we own most of the state houses right now, I foresee some immediate legislation to allow us to recall these corrupted crooks. Maybe even take their pensions and benefits. The consequences need to start being felt NOW.
Article waters it down to Lieu’s “I believe that” and Congress “may” begin impeachment proceedings. Someone needs to tell Lieu that cardboard swords go limp when dampened or even just waved around too much.
If Trump exercises his constitutional authority to fire one or both men, why would that be either a high crime or misdemeanor warranting impeachment?? If either are fired because they uncovered evidence of Trump´s election tampering / collusion in 2016, that´s far different, but there is no evidence to date of that.
I don´t recall the president threatening to fire Rod Rosenstein nor Robert Mueller. I do believe that Mr. Mueller should consider recusing himself from this investigation inasmuch as he´s friends with James Comey.
I´m getting awfully tired of Democrats playing high and mighty, all of a sudden, after eight years of their shocking corruption. I don´t believe a single word that any of them say -- with the exception of Senator Manchin, who seems like a decent guy.
Headline should read, "Democrats Warn Trump Congress Will ´Begin Impeachment Proceedings´ If He Wakes Up and Draws Another Breath". That´s all the reason they need, and all the justification they have.
several dems threaten, is this a joke? Even if they all vote lockstep (do they vote any other way?) they are in the minority. Oh, that´s right, they are threatening the pubs, might work, they have no spine.
OH my goodness, the widdy bitty Dimms are flexing their muscles! Do they take turns making fools of themselves in front of the TV cameras? Probably, Maxune´s turn next...haven´t seen that wig for a few days...must be getting a wash and restyle and then she´ll grace us with her incredibly intelligent insight again.
Sadly, the Dimmis are always able to sheep-herd the Stoopid Party in any direction they please, so numbers don´t seem to matter. It is beginning to look like the Stoopid Party is already milling in wide-eyed, stunned circles as the Dimmis run and scream.
‘Begin Impeachment Proceedings’?... Based on HOT AIR? Stop "warning" us, communists. Time for Trump to IGNORE the distractions and continue to govern. Mueller needs to recuse himself based on his BFF relationship with Comey. Prosecute Lynch. Prosecute Hillary. Prosecute Obama.
It is a perhaps hopeless wish that if the DOJ contains even one non-rabid Dimmi they could appoint a mirror image of Democrat Mueller as special prosecutor who could then appoint some radical Republican lawyers to conduct a no-holds barred look into everything ever done by 0zero, Illary and any other Dimmi that comes to mind with the expectation that they be harassed, pilloried and hectored for years until they either wind up in jail or broke.
Schiff and Lieu: Two nut buckets from CA. Neither of you have the nuts to introduce impeachment proceedings. I will be the first Californian to sign your recall petitions! It is clowns like you that have wrecked CA as a state!
Now that none of them are in office, I don´t believe a special prosecutor is needed for Clintons, Obama, et. al. They can simply be prosecuted like anyone else. I´m hoping Sessions and the FBI are quietly developing cases behind the scenes as they are supposed to do.
I did not realize the Democraps have a majority in the House and Senate! I thought I was up on things like this. But, I guess I missed the election where they took over again. Hmmm. But, why is Nasty Nan Pelosi still the minority Leader in the House and Dummy Schumer is still the MINORITY leader in the Senate? Things sure are topsy-turvy these days, eh??
Its not merely a matter of "recuse". Mueller is in direct violation of the independent counsel statute. The law specifies that one may not serve as independent counsel if he / she has a significant personal relationship with a principal witness.
It´s called conflict of interest. And he CAN be charged under the statute and removed from the role.
POTUS Trump should inform Rosenstein and Mueller that they have until Labor Day to either produce some results or shut the circus down. No three year dog and pony show a la Patrick Fitzgerald with nothing to show but a dubious process crime against Scooter Libby.
The other thing the president should do is give a big "You´re Fired" to every patronage holdover form the previous administration. About 4,000 federal employees serve as political appointees.
Black Lives Matter activist Chanelle Helm released a list of “requests” to white people in the wake of the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, this month. Helm, the so-called “cofounder and core organizer of Black Lives Matter Louisville,” explained in an article published at Leoweekly.com the things she says need to “change.” “White people, if you don’t have any descendants, will your property to a black or brown family. Preferably one that lives in generational poverty,” Helm writes in an article titled “White people, here are 10 requests from a Black Lives Matter leader.” White people are asked, “Give up the
In a recent column for The Guardian, former Democratic senator for Wisconsin Russ Feingold clarified what all this controversy about white supremacists and Confederate statues is really all about: Republicans are Nazis. “The lesson from Charlottesville is not how dangerous the neo-Nazis are,” he writes. “It is the unmasking of the Republican party leadership. In the wake of last weekend’s horror and tragedy, let us finally, finally rip off the veneer that Trump’s affinity for white supremacy is distinct from the Republican agenda of voter suppression, renewed mass incarceration and the expulsion of immigrants.” Finally, finally, someone on the Left
Nine people were killed and at least 54 others were wounded in shootings across Chicago between Friday evening and Monday morning. Seven people were shot, one fatally, during a single mass shooting incident about 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side. The group was in the parking lot of a banquet hall in the 11900 block of South Loomis when a male in a black SUV opened fire, according to Chicago Police. The SUV then sped away. Kolby Craig, 33, was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene at 2:35 a.m.,
President Trump received a commemorative Super Bowl ring from longtime friend and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft after the team visited the White House in April. A spokesman for the Patriots, Stacey James, told USA Today that Trump told Kraft during their White House visit how he was honored the Patriots were the first team to visit during his presidency. The team gifted Trump a jersey and a helmet during the April trip, but Kraft wanted to do more. James said Trump´s customized ring is the same as what the Patriots players and staff received for winning the Super Bowl.
Former Arkansas Gov. and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee told Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” on Sunday said that the GOP agenda is not being blocked by Democrats but rather “wuss Republicans who will not stand up to the pressure, and who will not do what they promised to do.” Huckabee also said that Republicans now have a good reason to defund Planned Parenthood, because it was started by “one of the most outrageous racists of all time - Margaret Sanger.” (Video) Huckabee was asked by host Maria Bartiromo about whether the Democrats are messing up the agenda by planning to
President Donald Trump said the U.S. is no longer nation-building but rather is "killing terrorists" during his primetime address Monday night at Fort Myer in Arlington, Va, regarding the U.S. path forward in Afghanistan. Trump said the U.S. will continue its support for the Afghan government and military as they fight the Taliban in the field, but said that it is up to the Afghan people to "take ownership of their future." "We are a partner and a friend, but we will not dictate to the Afghan people how to live or how to govern their own complex society," Trump
Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said Monday that Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), who was gravely wounded in a shooting this summer, will walk again. “He’s gonna walk but he’s gonna have to re-learn how to do it,” Ryan said during a CNN town hall in Racine, Wis., after Scalise joined a conference call with his GOP colleagues earlier in the day. “He sounded great. He sounded strong. He sounded like Steve-o.” Ryan described the recess conference call as “really emotional” for lawmakers. The Speaker has visited Scalise in the hospital countless times, but most of his colleagues have not heard
Over the course of last week, on NBC and MSNBC, host Chuck Todd gave a leg up to the violent Antifa movement by letting them defend their assaults on the police and innocent people not once, but twice. Todd’s interviews showed just how tolerant he was those who use violence to shut down free speech. And while Todd was absent from MTP Daily on Monday, Katy Tur picked up his torch and proudly pushed back against the First Amendment’s acknowledgment of a person’s right to free speech. “And challenging the First Amendment,” Tur declared during the show’s opening tease. “Should
Leading anti-Trump activists backed by major leftist donors are actively working with one task in mind: undermining the credibility of America’s leaders and creating a “political crisis” that forces President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence from office. Presentations from the group’s training conferences this weekend reveal the activists plan to impede the “ability to govern” of “those in power” and make America’s leaders “lose respect and legitimacy in the eyes of people here and internationally.” The group emphasizes that costing America’s leaders “international legitimacy” is key because it “is a very critical calculation for the rulers of this
President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump returned home to the White House Sunday with their son, Barron, after a 17-day working vacation at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. As Melania stepped off Air Force One in Washington D.C., the First Lady donned a color-blocked creme and lime-toned belted midi Delpozo dress with her famous tousled hair and sunglasses. The dress normally retails for $782, but is already sold out, according to Lyst. (Photos) Always one for meticulous details, Melania seemed to have coordinated her and Barron’s footwear for their arrival. On Melania, beige suede
The ancient pagan astrologers regarded solar eclipses as bad omens. So, too, did the rabbis of the Talmud, who warned in Tractate Sukkah, page 29a, that solar eclipses forecast ill fortune. But by that time, eclipses could be predicted. That raised a fundamental question about free will: how can eclipses be bad signs if we can predict them? The question the rabbis wrestled with was also familiar to St. Augustine, as well as other Christian philosophers. The rabbis’ answer was that Jews who kept God’s commandments did not have to worry about celestial omens. But many rabbis, especially the Kabbalists,
Sen. Susan Collins said Monday that it´s not clear to her if Trump will win the Republican nomination in 2020. "It´s far too early to tell now," Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said on MSNBC. "There is a long ways between now and that point." It´s almost unthinkable in modern American politics for an incumbent president to fail to secure his party´s nomination; there hasn´t been a serious primary challenge against a sitting president since 1976, when Ronald Reagan ran against Gerald Ford. But Trump is also unpopular nationwide, and has frustrated congressional Republicans with his political leadership. Collins faulted him,
Two members of the Kennedy family were arrested for disorderly conduct near the family’s famed compound on Cape Cod, according to police. Max Kennedy, the 52-year-old son of Robert F. Kennedy, was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and a noise violation around 1 a.m. Sunday morning after reports of loud partying, Barnstable Police told the Boston Herald. His daughter Caroline, a 22-year-old California resident, was also arrested at a home a short walk from the main Kennedy compound. (Snip) The arrests come after a brush with the law for another of RFK’s grandchildren, Conor Kennedy, who
“There must always” be a flow low-skilled immigration to the United States, no matter its impact on American workers, according to Republican establishment figure Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ). Flake slammed the idea of potentially cutting legal immigration levels in half to raise the wages of American workers and end the current low-skilled oriented system to make only admit immigrants based on their skills and merit in a New York Times op-ed. Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR) and David Perdue (R-GA) introduced the specific plan, known as the “RAISE Act.” President Donald Trump endorsed the plan and said the legislation “will reduce poverty, increase
Missouri State Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal hoped for the assassination of President Trump in a Facebook comment on Thursday then deleted it in a panic. She even acknowledged she would get a visit from the Secret Service for her comment. (Photo) Maria Chappelle-Nadal’s Facebook comment was so egregious that even ABC News reported on the story. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports: Missouri state Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal, D-University City, posted a comment in a Facebook conversation Thursday morning saying she hoped President Donald Trump will be assassinated. The comment was removed but Chappelle-Nadal confirmed to the Post-Dispatch that she had written it in
The Rev. Jesse Jackson on Sunday gave a strong endorsement to the movement for removing monuments to leaders of the Confederacy and called for the electoral college to be abolished. Speaking at the Islamic Center of Southern California, Jackson blamed the electoral college system, giving disproportionate influence to less populated states, for the 2000 and 2016 loss of Democratic presidential candidates Al Gore and Hillary Clinton despite their winning the popular vote. “Today we are looking at a structural problem,” Jackson said. “These monuments must go. Calling for the audience to repeat, he said, “Say the monuments and the flags
WASHINGTON — The Secret Service can no longer pay hundreds of agents it needs to carry out an expanded protective mission – in large part due to the sheer size of President Trump´s family and efforts necessary to secure their multiple residences up and down the East Coast. Secret Service Director Randolph "Tex´´ Alles, in an interview with USA TODAY, said more than 1,000 agents have already hit the federally mandated caps for salary and overtime allowances that were meant to last the entire year. The agency has faced a crushing workload since the height of the contentious election season, and it
Thanks to Monday´s solar eclipse, disastrous traffic jams have been taking over the country these last few days. And as folks leave the first coast-to-coast solar eclipse since 1918, the U.S. Department of Transportation estimated that nearly two-thirds of the nation´s resident live withing a day´s drive of the path of totality. And with Oregon being the first to see the eclipse, it and neighboring state Washington are experiencing the worst bouts of the traffic jams. ´This is the biggest transportation event that has ever hit Oregon,´ Dave Thompson, a spokesman for the Oregon Department of Transportation told AP. Oregon
Ten sailors are missing and five have been reported injured after the USS John S McCain was involved in a collision with a merchant vessel on Monday morning, the Navy has said. The collision between the US guided-missile destroyer and merchant vessel Alnic MC was reported at 5.24am local time. The John McCain was underway east of Singapore and the Strait of Malacca, on its way to a routine port visit in Singapore. It is now sailing under its own power and heading to port, the Navy said. The crew is reportedly fighting flooding in two crew berthings and an area of the ship known as the 'shaft alley'.
A Texas college campus removed four statues of prominent Confederate figures in an overnight sweep, according to reports. The statues of Gen. Robert E. Lee, Gen. Albert Sidney Johnston, Confederate Postmaster General John H. Reagan and former Texas Gov. James Stephen Hogg were each taken down from the campus’ Main Mall in an operation beginning just before midnight and continuing through the early morning, KSAT 12 reported. “Last week, the horrific displays of hatred at the University of Virginia and in Charlottesville shocked and saddened the nation,” University of Texas President Greg Fenves said in a statement. “These events make
The eclipse that occurred over Chicago led thousands to the beaches and streets, where they gasped and cried out as the sun partially disappeared. For WGN meteorologist Tom Skilling, it was an especially awe-inspiring event. The famed meteorologist hugged and high-fived people around him and wept as the eclipse occurred Monday afternoon. "Oh, my word," Skilling said. "Wow. This is amazing. What do you think of this, this?" At another point, he told viewers, "I´ll get my act together, guys." His voice cracking, Skilling apologized for his tears. Skilling´s heartfelt reaction earned him praise from fans:
Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are among a set of White House aides pushing President Trump to allow illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children to stay, in an effort to get Democrats to fund the president´s border wall. McClatchy reported that the group of White House officials have suggested using so-called ´Dreamers´ as a bargaining chip, in order to check off some of the president´s campaign promises on immigration, including the wall, additional detention facilities, an E-verify system for employers and cuts to legal immigration. However, such a move would break another campaign promise, as candidate Donald Trump had pledged
As the face of CNN, Anderson Cooper makes a very good living as wealthy, privileged white man casting judgments of affiliation upon his political enemies. This includes taking a handful of idiotic white supremacists and declaring they represent millions of Republicans/conservatives, pro-America, Trump supporters, etc. And yet Mr. Cooper himself has a much closer affiliation to slavery than he likely wants his leftist viewers to know. As a descendant of the Vanderbilt family, one of the wealthiest “old money” families in American history, Cooper is a direct descendant of big time slave owners. Cooper’s great-great grandfather, Cornelius Vanderbilt, owned several plantations,
President Trump’s “America First” base was the biggest loser of Trump’s speech on Afghanistan Monday night, and many quickly expressed their disappointment at the business-as-usual address from the president who had once promised to limit American intervention abroad and focus on nation-building at home. Trump’s speech, in which he pledged to increase the number of troops in the 16-year-war, was the first since the departure of Chief Strategist Steve Bannon and confirmed the fears of many on the right that without a strong nationalist voice in the West Wing, the President would revert to the same old fare that Americans had
