This story about Amazon´s Jeff Bezos

On Friday, Amazon said it was buying Whole Foods for $13.7 billion in cash. The deal is the largest in Amazon´s history, but far from its first.(Snip)Rutledge flew into Seattle from Dallas on a Sunday night to go out to breakfast with Bezos on Monday. He had signed a contract to stay with Amazon for the next three years and thought the meeting was going to be about Bezos bringing him into his inner ranks. Instead, it was awkward. Bezos didn´t seem to have any real agenda, even though Rutledge had traveled far to meet with him. Bezos ordered an

Comments:
Creepy anecdote about a meeting between Rutledge, of Woot, and Bezos after Bezos had agreed to buy Woot. Rutledge left after a few years, unable to work under Bezos.

Bezos is a megalomaniac who skims along the surface, building an empire he doesn’t even understand. We’ll see what happens with Whole Foods, where existing management is to stay in place. Sure.

Let´s see ... around our house Whole Foods is known as "Whole Paycheck", since that´s what it consumes if you shop there. And, for the most part, there´s nothing there that you can´t buy elsewhere at much cheaper prices. Also, that other Bezos posession, the Washington ComPost, is forbidden reading in this house. And Amazon has gone from great to so so - there´s more and more cheaper sources out there if you take the time to look.
I guess what I´m sayin´ is I´m not too impressed with Bezos skills lately ... plus he´s creepy - REAL CREEPY!!!

The news, like so many other things in life today, is a business. But unlike most businesses (where there is a philosophy that the customer is usually right), most news networks assume that their customers (viewers like you and me) are stupid and wrong. It’s been this way for quite a while. In the 1990s, the “new media” emerged (think Rush Limbaugh, Drudge, and Fox News Channel) and started challenging the monopoly of traditional news services. (Snip) In the news business, though, the legacy media ignored their new challengers and, insofar as they did recognize the competition, the legacy media

Senate Republicans Side With

Appallingly pathetic. For eight years Republicans promised voters they would dismantle Obamacare. They took in millions upon millions of political donation dollars on that promise. They ran on it. They were elected and re-elected on it. And now some of them are breaking it. Exhibit one of this two-faced politicking is Nevada Republican Senator Dean Heller who has now gone on record stating he will effectively stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Democrats to protect the failing Obamacare debacle. Heller isn’t worried about helping Americans who need a failing healthcare system to be overhauled – a need made more urgent by the disaster

The price for failure in regicide is one´s own head. Figuratively, that should be the price Jeff Zucker pays for six months of CNN pushing Fake News about a non-existent connection between Russia and President Trump. Sean Hannity agrees with me. Let not your heart be troubled. On Thursday, CNN published a one-source story that the Senate Intelligence Committee as well as Treasury were investigating Anthony Scaramucci and others for scheming with those Russian bankers. I’ve been talking about the importance of protecting against voting-machine hacks since 2002. And now, finally, people are starting to take me seriously. The move to paperless voting started in response to the Florida “hanging chad” fiasco in the 2000 presidential election. Some people (like me) thought this was a mistake, but such concerns were often dismissed. Now, apparently, you can’t be paranoid enough. As Politico’s Bob King noted, while 10 years ago critics of paperless voting were called paranoid, now both parties are worried. It remains true that there is no actual evidence that a single vote was changed by hackers

Justices said the lower court rulings that blocked Mr. Trump’s policy were far too broad, and said the president can begin to enforce his ban against foreigners who don’t already have some ties to the U.S. That means the president can begin denying visas to visitors from six countries — Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen — who don’t already have family in the U.S., or some other prior connection such as
