Mesmerizing time-lapse captures rare
cloud phenomenon in Grand Canyon

The creators of "SKYGLOW," a crowd-funded project showing the impact of urban light pollution through time-lapse videos, photos and a book, have another stunning video to share. In "Kaibab Elegy," filmmakers Gavin Heffernan and Harun Mehmedinovic visit Grand Canyon National Park and capture a rare weather event. In the mesmerizing video, clouds build inside the canyon almost like bubbling water filling a jacuzzi as the sun rises and sets in the background, creating the pinkest sky you´ve ever seen. Those clouds roll like waves in the ocean and crash against the cliffs. This phenomenon is called full cloud inversion, and it

In 1988 I drove from Dallas to LA. Stopped over in Flagstaff to visit the Grand Canyon. Went to the Grand Canyon the next morning. Got to the East side of the South Rim and managed to see the Canyon for about fifteen minutes before this happened.

Was not a happy camper.

Vladimir Putin’s former media czar was murdered in Washington, DC, on the eve of a planned meeting with the US Justice Department, according to two FBI agents whose assertions cast new doubts on the US government’s official explanation of his death. Mikhail Lesin’s battered body was discovered in his Dupont Circle hotel room on the morning of Nov. 5, 2015, with blunt-force injuries to the head, neck, and torso. After an almost yearlong "comprehensive investigation," a federal prosecutor announced last October that Lesin died alone in his room due to a series of drunken falls “after days of excessive consumption of

Did you see the $2 million dollar bathroom? That´s what New York City government spent to build a "comfort station" in a park. I went to look at it. There were no gold-plated fixtures. Joe Morino brought an incredulous friend to see the orange street sign he just spotted in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis. The official-looking metal sign read: “WARNING: TWIN CITIES POLICE EASILY STARTLED.” It featured a graphic silhouette of a police officer, a gun in each raised hand, shooting in both directions. “There’s a side of truth to the sign,” Morino said after snapping a picture of it. “That tells you there is something wrong with the system.” The sign, which was still up at 8 p.m. Sunday, was one of at least two seen in the Twin Cities Sunday. If you work for any extended amount of time in Washington, you are likely to meet people who work within the intelligence and law enforcement communities. You learn to recognize potential sources and those who will never be. The bad sources love to tell stories, so many stories, with at least a veneer of truth. The good sources will tell far fewer stories, but only when it’s important. But the most frequent stories you will hear, from good and bad, are stories of internal dysfunction and irresponsible uses of power. This is not confined to one administration or another, but

Time to Shut Down the Partisan

We-the-People already know—and have known for almost a year—that the faux “Russian-collaboration investigation” into now-President Trump and his team is just that…false. Despite the continued Deep State’s attempts to try to have something stick to our president—think lying Clapper and John Brennan as well as pretend non-partisan former FBI Chief Mueller and his discredited BFF (and student) former FBI Chief James Comey—it has been a partisan witch-hunt from its inception. I have been writing about the peculiar, if not highly inappropriate, associations and actions for many months and have received a huge amount of leftist flack for my commentaries. However, now

Local authorities demolished an illegal mosque on the outskirts of Belgrade after Serbian police secured the area in a pre-dawn action on Friday, ahead of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, despite protests by local Muslims and Islamic clergy. The construction of a two-storey mosque without a minaret in the Zemun Polje neighbourhood started in 2014 even though the authorities had refused to grant it a construction permit. On Thursday, the authorities attempted the demolition of the building but withdrew after protests by Muslims from the neighbourhood, mainly members of the Roma (Gypsy) minority. Early on Friday, they returned with

Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan says President Trump’s primary problem as a leader is not that he is “inexperienced, crude, an outsider” but that he is “weak and sniveling” and “undermines himself almost daily by ignoring” traditional norms of American masculinity. “He throws himself, sobbing, on the body politic,” Noonan wrote in her column Thursday. “He’s a drama queen. WASHINGTON -- Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) today declared Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) to have joined the ranks of late Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) when it comes to greatness in Congress. The senator who was defeated by President Obama in his 2008 quest for the White House stepped in to cast the deciding vote to kill Senate Republicans´ last-gasp effort to repeal Obama´s signature healthcare legislation. Audible gasps arose from the Dem side of the chamber in the wee hours this morning when McCain walked forward and cast a loud "no" vote -- the 51st vote to kill a "skinny

Senator John McCain waited two years to get his revenge against Donald Trump for saying that McCain is not a war hero. But with a giant middle finger — or more precisely a thumb — McCain, perhaps assuming that he’ll never run for election again, showed Donald Trump that repealing and replacing Obamacare would not be the “so easy” venture that the great “deal-maker” promised. I understand that these two men don’t like each other. I understand that revenge is a dish best served cold. But by looking to hurt President Trump — which I have no doubt was one motivation

A transgender ex-Navy surgeon says she will perform free gender-confirming surgery for the service members on her list who have been affected by Donald Trump´s new ban on trans people serving in the military. "If the commander-in-chief won´t take care of our veterans, our veterans will," Dr. Christine McGinn told CNN´s Michael Smerconish on Saturday. McGinn´s transition began in 2000, the same year she was named senior flight surgeon at the Willow Grove Naval Air Station, then the largest reserve base in the country. She was later nominated for flight surgeon of the year for the entire US Navy.

[snip]The Senate GOP´s healthcare bill failed in a 49-51 vote late Thursday night, stifling Republicans´ hope of fulfilling their seven-year promise to repeal and replace ObamaCare. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) was the deciding vote on the bill, joining GOP Sens. Susan Collins (Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) in breaking with their party to oppose the bill. The bill would have defunded Planned Parenthood and repealed key parts of ObamaCare, getting rid of the individual and employer mandates in the healthcare plan.
