Well that didn’t last long. Bob Beckel has been fired by Fox News just shortly after returning to air. Beckel, who played the part of the Washington Generals “token liberal” on The Five left the network in mid 2015, but recently came back just as his show moved to a coveted prime time slot at 9PM. Ratings for the new prime time line up have not been great since moving from the 5PM slot, as last week MSNBC enjoy According to Brian Steinberg, writing for Variety: “Bob Beckel was terminated today for making an insensitive remark to an African-American employee,”
Comments: Excellent! Now they can get rid of Geraldo, Juan, Shemp, Harf, Emanuel, et al. Good riddance to bad rubbish. That still won´t help The Five. Perino´s constant attacks on Watters is beyond irritating.
´´Juan Williams is soon to get more air time on The Five or a new left-of-center commenter is about to get a new job. ´´ Like we need more of that idiot. And Dana PeRINO has got to go...go to CNN, bsnbc, etc. She has been a real pain and a detractor along with Kat Whatshername. Those two are AWFUL and don´t watch when they are on.
Good riddance to Bechel. He was rude, crude, disgusting distasteful, acting as though was in a run-down bar all boozed up. OFFENSIVE! FOX has got to grow up and leave this socialist crowd behind them or they will be kicked to the curb very soon.
Cut the cable last year when Fox showed sure signs it was heading left, but was traveling and had it on in the hotel for all of three minutes until I heard his voice, looked at the T.V. and then promptly turned it off. Best decision I made was cutting the cable......do it folks....if your just hanging in there for Hannity, Tucker and a few more your only avoiding the inevitable. Don´t be the last person to exit the building.
Not sure I´m buying it. The black employee has the same attorneys that are representing a dozen other black employees against Fox. The attorneys also say the supervisor tried to intimidate the black employee into dropping his charges.
Can see Beckel losing his cool. He is fighting his own personal demons. Nothing in the article saying Beckel admitted to doing anything inappropriate. Is there any proof? Can also see this as another gotcha against Fox.
Check out the video embedded in the original article. He dropped and F-bomb on Fox News in 2012 -- and refused to accept responsibility! Just awful.
We can´t know exactly what happened with the IT guy, but Beckel has been a loose cannon on the air for a long time.
#12 is right, the Murdoch boys have ruined FN as a cash cow (25% of NewsCorp´s profits in Roger Ailes´s day), and they´ll rue the day they fired him. They seem to bring that peculiar brand of Australian PC to their executive roles, and don´t seem to realize that the world doesn´t dance to their tune.
Since he returned in February, Beckel has rarely offered anything more than rudeness and practiced fake laughter at conservative arguments. Better that he look for work on, say, MSNBC.
I don´t think firing him is going to save the show, even though it´s a step in the right direction. FOX needs to find someone good to replace Eric Bolling who was a great part of The Five cast. Word is that Kimberly is looking for a spot in The White House and nobody likes Dana the Bush lover/Trump Hater! Nope, I think The Five is on Life Support!
Well, he has had addiction problems. His hands shake. He always seems unprepared for the show. I think he should just retire. And I don´t like the 9pm time slot. 5pm was perfect for my life. Haven´t watched it since the switch.
Att Bob : This is the second time you have been fired by FOX. You are becoming the Billy Martin of the FOX newsroom. This will not look good on a resume when you have to apply for a job. Try Glenn Beck at the Blaze or the lib favorite NBC.
Don´t go back to the bottle...You will thank me for it later.
Even if its not true, GLAD he´s gone. Tired of him calling Trump a racist, nazi, buffoon. He deserved to be fired for something he said or did. Tried to see the good in him, but it only lasted 15 seconds and he´d tick me off again.
Ok let me get this straight, Beckel can call the President horrible disgusting names every day for months and nothing happens but he says one thing to an African American and he gets the sack. Is this bizarro world or not? I just hope they don´t put Marie Harf in his spot.
A federal district court judge has overturned the sentence of Lee Boyd Malvo, one of the two people convicted in D.C.-area Beltway sniper attacks nearly 15 years ago, according to a ruling released Friday. (Snip) Malvo appealed to the court saying he should not have been sentenced to life without parole because he was 17 years old at the time of the murders and he based his appeal on the Supreme Court ruling in Miller v. Alabama. The decision in the Supreme Court case ruled juveniles are constitutionally different from adults for the purposes of sentencing "because juveniles have diminished culpability
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) spoke Friday at an LGBT rights event at the Pride Center at Equality Park of South Florida, where she touted how liberals in the Democratic Party only voted for the nation´s defense spending bill for fiscal year 2011 so they could repeal "Don´t Ask, Don´t Tell." "Don´t tell anybody I told you this," Pelosi said, before explaining how she was able to get liberal Democrats onboard to support the National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA, the annual federal law that specifies the Defense Department´s budget and expenditures. Pelosi described how in 2010 Democrats put an
The New York Times has been holding up the torch for truth in the age of fake news and alternative facts—but one of its political reporters, Jonathan Martin, has no qualms in weaving a few alternative facts of his own. After he lifted a photograph from another journalist and presented it without attribution, Martin doubled down on his lie and claimed he had no idea it was the other journalist’s photo. The New York Times has been holding up the torch for truth in the age of fake news and alternative facts—but one of its political reporters, Jonathan Martin, has
WASHINGTON – Rep. Anthony G. Brown (D-Md.) last week introduced legislation that would require “good cause” for the president to dismiss the director of the FBI, while calling President Trump’s decision to fire James B. Comey “disturbing.” Trump on May 9 dismissed the FBI director, subsequently producing memos from Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein on Comey’s job performance. Rosenstein criticized Comey’s handling of the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server in 2015, stating that the FBI director had made serious mistakes. Comey’s firing came six days after he briefed
A GoFundMe page was launched on Thursday to replace the glasses owned by Ben Jacobs, a reporter for the Guardian who was allegedly body slammed by then-candidate for Montana´s U.S. House seat Greg Gianforte on Wednesday. The GoFundMe page was originally titled: "Help Ben Jacobs buy new glasses" but has since changed to "Help Protect Journalists," after Jacobs responded to the fundraising page by saying he appreciated the gesture, but would like all donations to go to the Committee to Protest Journalists. (Snip) In just one day, the page has racked up just over $5,000 in donations as of press
Jared Kushner and Russia’s ambassador to Washington discussed the possibility of setting up a secret and secure communications channel between Trump’s transition team and the Kremlin, using Russian diplomatic facilities in an apparent move to shield their pre-inauguration discussions from monitoring, according to U.S. officials briefed on intelligence reports. Ambassador Sergey Kislyak reported to his superiors in Moscow that Kushner, son-in-law and confidant to then-President-elect Trump, made the proposal during a meeting on Dec. 1 or 2 at Trump Tower, according to intercepts of Russian communications that were reviewed by U.S. officials. Kislyak said Kushner suggested using Russian diplomatic facilities
It is the final day of Donald and Melania Trump´s first official tour as President and First Lady, and it looks like 47-year-old Melania is eager to go out with a sartorial bang. After having made a chic arrival in Sicily, where her husband is attending a G7 summit, Melania stepped out Friday morning in the coastal down of Catania, making a very stylish statement in a $51,500 coat by Dolce & Gabanna, which was covered with colorful 3-D flower embellishments - and came complete with a matching $1,630 purse by the Italian luxury label. However, the First Lady traded the statement
A leading young Democrat and de Blasio administration employee has a secret taste for sickening kiddie porn that involves baby girls as young as 6 months old, court papers revealed Friday. Jacob Schwartz, 29, was busted for allegedly keeping more than 3,000 disgusting images and 89 videos on a laptop after downloading the filth from the internet. The illegal smut shows “young nude females between the approximate ages of 6 months and 16, engaging in sexual conduct… on an adult male,” court papers say. Schwartz’ father — labor lawyer and Democratic insider Arthur Schwartz — called his son’s case “a
Two Chinese J-10 fighter jets flew within 200 yards of a U.S. Navy P-3 surveillance plane approximately 150 miles southeast of Hong Kong in international airspace this week, a U.S. defense official told Fox News on Friday. The official said the Chinese fighter jets were “unsafe” in their actions toward the U.S. reconnaissance plane Wednesday. One of the Chinese jets flew out in front of the Navy plane before conducting a series of slow turns which the American crew considered unsafe, the official added. Describing why cutting off another plane at high speeds in the air is dangerous, the official said, “You
President Trump is still thinking through the arguments as he decides whether the United States should withdraw from the Paris Climate Accords, senior administration officials said Friday. "I think his views are evolving," White House national economic council director Gary Cohn told reporters in Sicily. "And he came here to learn and he came here to get smarter." "The president is thinking about what his options are and is taking in what he learned from world leaders today," Cohn said. "If he were standing here, he would tell you he feels much more knowledgable on the topic today, even though
The anti-Trump venom from the mainstream media has become so virulent that broadcasters and reporters alike risk becoming little more than extensions of the late-night “comedic” lineup, bashing the President without regard for truth or factual accuracy. And above all, most of these journalists realize, and sometimes admit, that they want to help the Democrats win the next election. (Snip) “The 2018 midterm elections are still more than a year away, but the Democrats are already hoping to flip this house,” said Reid on her show, telling Democratic candidate Linda Weber, “So we will be paying attention to that race,
(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch today announced it filed a Freedom of Information (FOIA) lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Justice and the National Security Agency (NSA) for information about Obama National Security Advisor Susan Rice’s communications with the two agencies concerning the alleged Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election, the hacking of DNC computers, the suspected communications between Russia and Trump campaign/transition officials, and the unmasking of the identities of any U.S. citizens associated with the Trump presidential campaign or transition team who were identified pursuant to intelligence collection activities (Judicial Watch v. A free-thinking group of eighth grades refused to pose with House Speaker Paul Ryan during a field trip to Washington DC on Thursday. Half of the students from South Orange Middle School in New Jersey stood on the other side of the street as their classmates had their photo taken with Ryan outside the United States Capitol. When he uploaded the image to Instagram, the ones who had refused to be in it flooded the comments section with insults and complaints. ´Half of us stood across the street including me because we hate you,´ said one. Another spoke to DailyMail.com
Earth is likely to reach more dangerous levels of warming even sooner if the U.S. retreats from its pledge to cut carbon dioxide pollution, scientists said. That’s because America contributes so much to rising temperatures. President Donald Trump, who once proclaimed global warming a Chinese hoax, said in a tweet Saturday that he would make his “final decision” this coming week on whether the United States stays in or leaves the 2015 Paris climate change accord in which nearly every nation agreed to curb its greenhouse gas emissions. Leaders of seven wealthy democracies, at a summit in Sicily, urged Trump
After entering the White House in 2009, President Barack Obama went on his famous “apology” tour. Now, Hillary Clinton, having failed to win the White House in 2016, is currently on an “I’m owed an apology” tour. In an interview for an article by New York Magazine published Friday, Clinton has apparently moved past “gracious Hillary” and “relaxed in the woods Hillary” and has now moved into “angry Hillary” mode. (Snip) In the New York Magazine article, called “Hillary Clinton Is Furious. And Resigned. And Funny. And Worried,” the predominant mood is the fury — not the resignation, worry, or her
Angela Merkel has stunningly claimed Europe can no longer rely on the US, just one day Donald Trump frustrated world leaders at the G7 meeting in Italy. The German Chancellor urged the European Union to stick together in the face of new uncertainty stemming from the US and other challenges. Merkel said Sunday at a campaign event in Bavaria: ´The times in which we can fully count on others are somewhat over, as I have experienced in the past few days.´ The comments came after the G7 countries were unable to agree to a deal that would see the 2015
(Video) Sunday on MSNBC’s “AM Joy,” Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) said the public was “getting weary” that Democrats have not done enough to begin the process of impeaching President Donald Trump. Partial transcript as follows: REID: Congresswoman, on the subject of being more aggressive, you have openly talked about the fact that this president has put himself in a position where impeachment is on the table but your party, the Democratic party is very reluctant, The New York Times has an article out last week about how hesitant Democratic leadership, in particular, are to call for Donald Trump’s impeachment. In
Hillary Clinton’s inner circle is concerned that the “resistance” that cropped up in the wake of President Donald Trump’s electoral win isn’t embracing the failed Democratic Presidential candidate as their de facto leader. As of late, Hillary has taken to marketing herself as the leader of the anti-Trump resistance, Tweeting about her defeat, haranguing Trump in public appearances and “persisting” despite her loss. It’s clear from Clinton’s Twitter feed, paid speeches, and comments that she wants to lead the mostly female opposition to Trump’s policy agenda. But according to sources close to Clinton’s inner circle, she’s yet again failing in

French President Emmanuel Macron acknowledged to a French newspaper that his intense handshake with President Trump ahead of the NATO summit in Brussels "wasn´t innocent," but instead was meant as a show of resolve, The Associated Press reported Sunday. "One must show that you won´t make small concessions, even symbolic ones, but also not over-publicize things, either," he told Le Journal du Dimanche, according to the AP. The handshake between Macron and Trump on Thursday drew attention for its visible intensity, with both pairs of knuckles turning white from pressure. It’s pile-on time for America’s commercial airlines. The contempt people hold for them has long been severe, but following a raft of highly publicized incidents, resentment has hit a fever pitch. It started about a month ago, with the forced removal of a passenger onboard a United Express flight. This was followed by several more airlines-behaving-badly controversies, up to and including the death of Simon, a giant rabbit who perished after a London-to-Chicago United flight. Over and over we are reminded about the hellishness that is commercial flying. Enabled by cellphone cameras and the catalyst of social media, even the most
The sun has set on students’ request to change the date of their prom. Students at an elite New York City high school petitioned to change the date of their senior prom – scheduled for June 3 – because it conflicts with the Muslim observance of Ramadan, but the school has denied the request, the New York Post reported. (Snip) Still, Muslim students said eating after sundown is not the only issue; they say there are other religious rules that come into play. “You’re not supposed to listen to music during Ramadan, so it’s not really allowed,” Shabbir said. CNN’s W. Kamau Bell devoted a recent episode of his series United Shades of America to exploring Muslim and Arab communities. Aside from some interesting vignettes, the program is left-wing, anti-Trump propaganda that firmly establishes the network’s political bias. Bell also serves up some historical distortions of the sort spoonfed to undergraduates on politically-correct campuses, such as the claim that Islam has always been present in the U.S. “Islam has always been part of the American fabric,” one Muslim man in Detroit tells Bell at an anti-Trump event. “A lot of people think that Islam is from a foreign country,
I know it’s theoretically wrong for a Republican candidate to smack around an annoying liberal journalist, but that still doesn’t mean that I care. Our ability to care is a finite resource, and, in the vast scheme of things, millions of us have chosen to devote exactly none of it toward caring enough to engage in fussy self-flagellation because of what happened to Slappy La Brokenshades. Sorry, not sorry. Please split wide headlines
