Disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner has admitted exchanging sexually explicit text messages with a 15-year-old girl. Weiner, 52, surrendered Friday morning and was taken to Manhattan federal court, where he pleaded guilty to a charge of transferring obscene material to a minor. Weiner cried in court as he apologized to the teen saying, “I have a sickness, but I do not have an excuse.” The judge told him he would have to register as a sex offender. He has been released on bail pending his sentencing, which has been set for Sept. 8. He could face a fine and anywhere

A WH secret Service guard just got 20 years for the same offense and the prosecutor asked for life!
That sounded pretty harsh for a non violent crime, but Weiiner should get no less than the Secret a Service employee.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is facing mounting criticism from politicians and pundits on both sides of the aisle after the collapse of the Republican health care overhaul bill. Before the bill was pulled Monday night, Sen. Ron Johnson told a local newspaper that McConnell’s conflicting statements to different members of his caucus were a “significant breach of trust.” The Republican from Wisconsin was referring to a comment by McConnell to some Republican senators that Medicaid reform wouldn’t happen under the overhaul bill. Other Republican senators are calling for a new way forward on replacing the Affordable Care Act.

Sen. John McCain said he did ´what any citizen would do´ in turning over the dirty dossier, which contained unconfirmed secrets about the president-elect, over to the FBI. The Guardian charted the path of how the dossier came to be and how it was that McCain got his hands on the controversial documents. The story of the dossier began with an investigative firm in Washington, D.C., being tapped by one of Trump´s primary allies to dig up some opposition research on the Republican hopeful. In turn, that firm outsourced the research to a ´retired western European former counter-intelligence official, with

President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., was promised damaging information about Hillary Clinton before agreeing to meet with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign, according to three advisers to the White House briefed on the meeting and two others with knowledge of it. The meeting was also attended by his campaign chairman at the time, Paul J. Manafort, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Mr. Manafort and Mr. Kushner only recently disclosed the meeting, though not its content, in confidential government documents described to The New York Times. The Times reported the existence of the meeting on Saturday.

Wildlife suffered higher-than-normal losses this winter in severe weather across the western United States, where the toll included the deaths of all known fawns in one Wyoming deer herd and dozens of endangered bighorn sheep in California. Wildlife managers in Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Oregon and Washington also reported higher losses of animals in the wake of one of the coldest and snowiest winters in decades. Parts of the Rockies saw snowfall as late as mid-June. “This year we kind of had all the factors that we don’t want – we had deep snow, we had periods of fairly cold weather,

A Milwaukee jury on Wednesday acquitted a former police officer in the on-duty shooting of a black man last year that ignited riots on the city’s north side. Jurors found that Dominique Heaggan-Brown, who is also black, was not guilty of first-degree reckless homicide when he shot 23-year-old Sylville Smith after a brief foot chase following a traffic stop Aug. 13. Smith had a gun when he ran, but the case hinged on whether he was a threat when Heaggan-Brown fired the shot that killed him. Body-camera video showed Heaggan-Brown shooting Smith once in the arm as he appeared to

The Illinois official responsible for paying the state´s bills is warning that new court orders mean her office must pay out more each month than Illinois receives in revenue. Comptroller Susana Mendoza must prioritize what gets paid as Illinois nears its third year without a state budget. A mix of state law, court orders and pressure from credit rating agencies requires some items be paid first. Those include debt and pension payments, state worker paychecks and some school funding. Mendoza says a recent court order regarding money owed for Medicaid bills means mandated payments will eat up 100 percent of

John McCain is joining a bipartisan push to block President Donald Trump from banning transgender people from serving in the military. Mr Trump issued a moratorium last month instructing the military to stop providing gender reassignment surgeries for transgender troops, and to stop plans to recruit those troops. That decision came following an order from his predecessor that instructed the military to begin considering programmes to allow transgender people to serve openly and without worry in the military. Facing harsh criticism, a Harvard dean said early Friday morning that he was revoking his invitation to Chelsea Manning, a former United States soldier convicted of leaking classified information, to be a visiting fellow at the university. The sudden turnabout by the Harvard Kennedy School came after a day of intense backlash over the university’s announcement on Wednesday that Ms. Manning would become a visiting fellow at the Institute of Politics this school year. Douglas W. Elmendorf, the dean of the Harvard Kennedy School, said that while the university encourages a diversity of opinions and does not shy from controversy,

After months of denials, the pretext for Susan Rice’s eavesdropping on Trump officials has finally been made public. It had been widely known that Obama’s former National Security Adviser had contrived to unmask the names of top Trump officials who had been spied on by the administration. And the same media that still treats Watergate as the Great American Scandal had claimed that there was nothing “improper” in an Obama loyalist eavesdropping on members of the opposition party. Every time Obama Inc. was caught eavesdropping on opposition politicians, it presented its spin in a carefully packaged “scoop” to a major media

While promoting her newly released memoir, Hillary Clinton has placed blame on several factors for her loss to Donald Trump last November — from her own mistakes, to Russian interference in the U.S. election, and the late intervention by then-FBI director James Comey. But Clinton has also spoken candidly about how deep-rooted sexism played a hand in her defeat, and about the double standards she faced as the first woman nominated by a major party for president in America’s 240-year history. In an interview with the New York Times published Saturday, Clinton spoke further about how misogyny is used as

Almost no commentator, no reviewer, has mentioned the most newsworthy fact about Hillary Clinton´s latest memoir—which is the near total lack of anything actually newsworthy in the book. With What Happened, Clinton would at last "let down her hair," Simon & Schuster´s publicists loudly proclaimed before the book´s publication. And that was the line dutifully repeated by reporter after reporter, as though it were a fact. As though, coming from Clinton´s people, it didn´t need to be checked or reported with even the slight distancing of "Hillary Clinton says she´s let down her hair in her new book." But then,

Chelsea Manning has been making quite a spectacle of himself out on Twitter, taking Michael Morrell´s and Mike Pompeo´s exit from the school as a welcome new opportunity to call attention to himself. He starts with an emoji-filled cheer at news of Morrell´s resignation from his own Harvard post based on its bad judgment in bringing him into the university to ´mentor´ students, declaring it ´good´ that Morrell has pulled out. Not a thought about how Morrell´s exit might affect Harvard, it´s all about himself and his feelings instead. Note the high emoji count, by the way - an advertisement
