Another day in Florida, another alligator hit by a vehicle. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 27-year-old motorcyclist from Wimauma was traveling westbound on State Road 674 just west of Katie Stanaland in Hillsborough County around 12:28 a.m. Friday. At the same time, a 10-foot, 9-inch alligator was crossing the road in front of him. The motorcyclist hit the alligator, throwing him from the motorcycle. He landed on the Little Manatee River overpass. The man was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries. The alligator was listed in critical condition and was picked up by alligator trapper Rob Upthegrove, according to

... but at least the Black Hills riders rarely hit an alligator, poster #1! (If Algore is right, that could soon change, as alligators escape to the cooler northern climes.)

Wow! Poor motorcyclists in Florida - no chance! If you don´t get smacked by a texting doofus or a "seasoned" citizen... you may smack a ´gator!

"Duh!" comment of the year: If you see an alligator on the road, use caution.

Now this is a journal I can enthusiastically support: The International Journal of James Bond Studies. Because, after all, Blofeld is the inverse archtype of every college administrator. Now, you might well think that even academics couldn’t screw up something as straightforward as James Bond, and thankfully the first issue seems to be a feminist theory-free zone, but I’m not entirely reassured by this part of the editor’s statement in the first issue: "The International Journal of James Bond Studies is the first journal of its kind dedicated to critical readings of all aspects of the Bond franchise. Angela Merkel finally said it: the status quo ante is over. The Trump administration is putting a lot of points on the board in Washington, although thanks to the MSM´s near-total obsession with the lunatic "Russians and Trump hacked the election" meme you hardly ever hear about them. But considerable progress has been made in rolling back the regulatory state, trimming back the intolerable bureaucracy and restraining the growth of the federal budget. I´ll be even happier when I see the wrecking ball outside more than a few federal agencies the next time I´m in Washington, but in general they´re off to a good start. One thing president Trump could do --

Mushrooms are the safest of all the drugs people take recreationally, according to this year’s Global Drug Survey. Of the more than 12,000 people who reported taking psilocybin hallucinogenic mushrooms in 2016, just 0.2% of them said they needed emergency medical treatment – a rate at least five times lower than that for MDMA, LSD and cocaine. “Magic mushrooms are one of the safest drugs in the world,” said Adam Winstock, a consultant addiction psychiatrist and founder of the Global Drug Survey, pointing out that the bigger risk was people picking and eating the wrong mushrooms. “Death from toxicity is almost unheard

But that’s a drop in the bucket compared to what the wealthy Orlando attorney and possible gubernatorial candidate says he’s prepared to invest in the industry now that it’s about to explode. In a series of emails with the Miami Herald, Morgan said he intends to plunge up to $100 million into “the right opportunities.” He also acknowledged that he’s interested in owning a stake in a state-licensed dispensing organization, though he said he’s not yet invested in any cannabis companies. “I

On Wednesday morning, President Donald Trump met with Pope Francis. Francis gave the president three gifts: a sculpture of an olive tree, his message "Nonviolence: a Style of Politics for Peace," and a copy of his encyclical on climate change, Laudato Si, Reuters reported. Trump promised to read them. But American Catholics expressed skepticism about just how well these messages represent a Catholic approach to governance. "Pope Francis´ peace message, like so much of what he says, is one-sided and misleading," John Zmirak, senior editor of The Stream and author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Catholicism, told PJ Media in an interview Wednesday. To catch a ring of poachers who targeted Florida´s million-dollar alligator farming industry, state wildlife officers created the ultimate undercover operation. They set up their own alligator farm, complete with plenty of real, live alligators, watched over by real, live undercover wildlife officers. It also had hidden video cameras to record everything that happened. After two years of undercover work, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission announced Wednesday that it arrested nine people on 44 felony charges. They´re accused of breaking wildlife laws governing alligator harvesting, transporting eggs and hatchlings across state lines, dealing in stolen property, falsifying records, racketeering and

Earth is likely to reach more dangerous levels of warming even sooner if the U.S. retreats from its pledge to cut carbon dioxide pollution, scientists said. That’s because America contributes so much to rising temperatures. President Donald Trump, who once proclaimed global warming a Chinese hoax, said in a tweet Saturday that he would make his “final decision” this coming week on whether the United States stays in or leaves the 2015 Paris climate change accord in which nearly every nation agreed to curb its greenhouse gas emissions. Leaders of seven wealthy democracies, at a summit in Sicily, urged Trump

Hillary Clinton’s inner circle is concerned that the “resistance” that cropped up in the wake of President Donald Trump’s electoral win isn’t embracing the failed Democratic Presidential candidate as their de facto leader. As of late, Hillary has taken to marketing herself as the leader of the anti-Trump resistance, Tweeting about her defeat, haranguing Trump in public appearances and “persisting” despite her loss. It’s clear from Clinton’s Twitter feed, paid speeches, and comments that she wants to lead the mostly female opposition to Trump’s policy agenda. But according to sources close to Clinton’s inner circle, she’s yet again failing in

CNN’s W. Kamau Bell devoted a recent episode of his series United Shades of America to exploring Muslim and Arab communities. Aside from some interesting vignettes, the program is left-wing, anti-Trump propaganda that firmly establishes the network’s political bias. Bell also serves up some historical distortions of the sort spoonfed to undergraduates on politically-correct campuses, such as the claim that Islam has always been present in the U.S. “Islam has always been part of the American fabric,” one Muslim man in Detroit tells Bell at an anti-Trump event. “A lot of people think that Islam is from a foreign country,

It’s pile-on time for America’s commercial airlines. The contempt people hold for them has long been severe, but following a raft of highly publicized incidents, resentment has hit a fever pitch. It started about a month ago, with the forced removal of a passenger onboard a United Express flight. This was followed by several more airlines-behaving-badly controversies, up to and including the death of Simon, a giant rabbit who perished after a London-to-Chicago United flight. Over and over we are reminded about the hellishness that is commercial flying. Enabled by cellphone cameras and the catalyst of social media, even the most

I know it’s theoretically wrong for a Republican candidate to smack around an annoying liberal journalist, but that still doesn’t mean that I care. Our ability to care is a finite resource, and, in the vast scheme of things, millions of us have chosen to devote exactly none of it toward caring enough to engage in fussy self-flagellation because of what happened to Slappy La Brokenshades.
