The Murdochs have decided Bill O’Reilly’s 21-year run at Fox News will come to an end. According to sources briefed on the discussions, network executives are preparing to announce O’Reilly’s departure before he returns from an Italian vacation on April 24. Now the big questions are how the exit will look and who will replace him. Wednesday morning, according to sources, executives are holding emergency meetings to discuss how they can sever the relationship with the country’s highest-rated cable-news host without causing collateral damage to the network. The board of Fox News’ parent company, 21st Century Fox, is scheduled to
... I won´t miss BOR´s bloviating .... he´s a pandering opportunist... no real core values... plus, he appears to be a sexual socio-path... BILL clinton...BILL cosby...BILL o´reilly ...anyone else seeing a pattern here??
...now he has time to work on his new book : Killing My Career.
Well, that´s it for me and cable. Fox News and Turner Classic Movies is all I watch anyway. TCM is not what it was since Robert Osborne has been gone, and with O´Reilly out then there´s no reason to watch Fox anymore. What a craven bunch of weasels.
Never could understand why anyone would listen to him day in, day out! Full of himself and his stupid opinions....good riddance to bad rubbish....that´s how Bill Clinton should have been gotten rid of. Now he has all the credentials for running for a Dem office!
FTA: "Executives are currently debating possible replacement hosts. Names that have been discussed include Eric Bolling, Dana Perino, and Tucker Carlson, who would move from his successful 9 p.m. slot and create a need for a new host at that time. One source said Sean Hannity is happy at 10 p.m. and would not want to move."
"Late last week, the feeling inside the company was that Rupert Murdoch would prevail over his son James, who lobbied to jettison the embattled host. It’s still unclear exactly how the tide turned. According to one source, Lachlan Murdoch’s wife helped convince her husband that O’Reilly needed to go, which moved Lachlan into James’s corner."
The Murdoch sons are going to kill the goose that laid the golden egg. You can already see their imprint on FNC and it is NOT good. I see more and more individuals from Politico than I have ever seen before.
I´m no longer a fan of O´Reilly, that changed years ago when he totally caved to the vile Obama and covered for his transgressions. That said, what happened here is evidence of how powerful those on the left are, including the Murdoch sons. We should all be horrified and very afraid. If they can get rid of Bill O´Reilly, a powerful man and the cash cow of FNC, they can and will destroy anyone. The Democrats are the first to scream about McCarthyism. This is it on steroids. The Democrats specialize in it. They are doing the same with Trump.
Dana Perino should NEVER be allowed to fill that slot. She is weak, irritating and could never carry that show. Tucker should take that slot and move Martha McCallum to 90.
Marie Harf, Ezekial, Shep, Beckel, Juan Williams, Megyn McCain, Geraldo, Dana Perino stay... O´Reilly goes???? Fox is losing their mind. They changed when Trump ran for president & they will never be he same. They are better than abccbsnbccnn but they have room for improvement. I miss the old Fox! Hey Fox beware the left is out to get you & political correctness will destroy you!
#14 - yes he is entertaining, it´s fun to watch him dance around on both sides of an issue in order not to offend his no info viewers he says he is not an ideologue and has no values and I believe him with Tucker on now I rarely watch him anymore
I´ve never been a fan, but it´s not a good business move for Fox. On the other hand, I´ve always wondered why Hannity has never ever referenced O´Reilly, never been on his show, never mentioned his name over decades of his radio show. I suspect he knows O´Reilly is a slime.
FOX has certainly gone down the tubes with the younger Murdoch´s, I´ve had it with Fox when they put on that lying Marie Harf and Rom Emanual´s brother......Fox is turning into CNN & MSNBC combines....and NO to Dana Perino..in any spot....
#17, actually, the entertainment factor with BOR is his pomposity and bloviating, not to mention his relentless hawking of his books.I first starting watching his show because I was fascinated how he got away with his endless self-promotion. I also agree with him on some of his causes, like the war on Christmas. He is pretty good on illegal immigration, too. The ratings don´t lie. A lot of other people find him entertaining, too.
Don´t have to agree with everything anybody says, including O´Reilly. This is bad news, and no doubt lefties are celebrating their victory. Lately O´Reilly has been riding hard on the leaks, wiretapping, etc., and to shut him up it´s no surprise lefties crawled out from under their rocks. That the Murdoch boys want him out shows what their end game is for FOX -- just another alphabet no-news network. Once FOX´s makeover is done, then what? Tucker is okay, but there´s so much crosstalk and arguing. Perino´s whiny voice grates like fingernails on a chalkboard...
I agree...bad move for FOX and another victory for the Left who will try to ruin anyone they feel has too much power or success. Although I am disheartened by the direction of FOX under the "leadership" of the Murdoch brothers, in some ways it´s a deliberate suicide choice and I won´t be too upset to see their ratings go into the tank. Why is it the Liberals always point the finger towards the Trump children but you don´t hear one word against the Murdochs, who obviously are in the same situation...grew up and inherited a vast international empire. Then there´s adorable Chelsea, but that´s another story. As far as 0´Reilly, time will tell regarding the accusations (again, note how the media refused to cover Bill Clinton´s rape charges and are rabid about these allegations?)
I have to wonder if Bill´s contract has run it´s course. I would think it has or Fox would be stupid to fire him prior to the contract end. A big NO to Perino. No, no no! I don´t think she could carry an hour show night in and night out. I hope Bill can fight some legal wars with Gloria Allred´s spawn, Lisa Bloom. Those two play dirty and certainly not a good image to their already dubious profession.
The first time BOR was accused of sexual harassment it was settled out of court. You know the one that introduced loufah to American children. I didn´t know if there was anything to it or if it was a move for money. But, another time - and it´s looking like when the floodgates opened up on Tiger Woods - come on. I´m not going to give it a pass. I actually believe he became more emboldened because he got off the first time.
I´m so glad my life doesn´t revolve around TV and Fox like it used to. Except for watching Cavuto and Bair occasionally, I enjoy reading excellent books like the just finished A Man Called Ove. Fox has been slipping for a long time.
I note with sadness that there is the usual rush of Republicans to get in on the latest Dimmi kill. This is akin to zebras hanging back and watching the slaughter after the lions have brought down one of the herd.
Meanwhile far worse is protected and applauded by Dimmis and many Republicans. We are a herd species and stoopid but organized beats intelligent but fractured every time.
Why has nobody here questioned the truth of the accusers? What proof have they produced that anything happened? Do they have a recording or anything other than their verbal accusations? Are they just a bunch of gold diggers looking for Gloria Allred to make them (and herself) rich?
They always seem to accept the females verbal accusations as true without any regard to ruining peoples lives.
I´m not trying to defend OR. He can do that himself but lets get real here !!!
O´Reilly has been phoning it in for several months. He´s been acting like a smug substitute high-school teacher, interrupting his "guests" even more than usual and lecturing them like you´d speak to a child. It´s gotten downright embarrassing. He needs to go.
These allegations have been piling up for quite a while, just as his performance has plummeted. Fox News will do fine without him. No one is indispensable, no one.
Personally, I don´t care about the accusations and whether/not he did them and/or whomever is trying to be Killing O´Reilly. I have wanted him out of there for a long time, ever since he accused the oil industry of conspiring to raise the price of oil. Such a stupid liberal talking point that is, and he was all-in for that pov.
There are several really god possible replacements. Let´s just hope Fox see it my way.
Can we include the insufferable Abby Huntsman along with the aforementioned Fox people who should be eliminated from that station. I refuse to watch Fox with the exception of Bret Baier and a Fox &Friends in the am. It´s all downhill with the Murdoch´s.
Two of the women accusing BOR of boorish behavior have extremely weak cases. The black secretary said BOR ´leered´ at her, and on one occasion, gave a compliment calling her ´hot chocolate.´ He leers at everyone, and is an imposing figure, tall, gruff, and in charge. As for the precious flower of a girl psychologist, I say ´pshaw´ to her complaint that he invited her up to his room.
I´m probably the only one here that liked the Bill O´Reilly show..even with his bloviating. FOX news just wrote themselves into the ratings cellar for that time slot. Good by Fox News.
Actually, I hope BOR fights this frivolous and concocted case and wins a settlement from her and her sleazy attorney Lisa Bloom. Then uses the settlement to buy more wheel chairs for wounded warriors. Followed with him joining a new upcoming cable channel.
MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” panelists were eager Monday to undermine the compelling success of the first leg of President Donald Trump’s overseas trip and theorized that any foreign victories for the administration really don’t matter because his “presidency is literally in question.” The president’s trip began in Saudi Araba Friday and will span nine days and five countries. On Sunday, Trump delivered a highly anticipated speech before representatives from over 50 Muslim-majority countries in which he urged them to join together to defeat violent extremism. But co-host Mika Brzezinski dismissed the president’s well-received speech and his overall efforts to reconnect with
The wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had some reassuring words for the U.S. President and First Lady Melania when they landed in Tel Aviv, Israel on Monday. In video posted by Israeli news service Haaretz.com, Mrs. Netanyahu said, ‘unlike the media,” she publicly praises the Trumps everywhere she goes and that the Israeli people believe her. (Video) Mrs. Netanyahu: "I talk every place about her, how great she is and how great you are.” Prime Minister Netanyahu: “I can attest to that.” Mrs. Netanyahu: "Because the majority of the people in Israel, unlike the media, they love us
JERUSALEM – Israel appreciates the “reassertion of American leadership in the Middle East” as demonstrated by the change in U.S. policy on Iran since President Donald Trump took office, as well as the Trump administration’s bold moves in Syria, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told President Donald Trump at a press conference in Jerusalem Monday. “I want you to know how much we appreciate the change in American policy on Iran,” Netanyahu said at the Prime Minister’s Residence. “I want you to know how much we appreciate your bold decision to act against the use of chemical weapons in Syria.” “I
Since President Trump took office, according to ICE, about 11,000 undocumented people with no criminal records have been detained -- twice as many as last year. Now, the number of religious institutions across the country offering sanctuary has doubled to more than 800. Illegal immigrants can be arrested in places of worship, but ICE has a long-time policy of avoiding religious spaces, schools and hospitals. There is a peaceful rebellion growing against federal immigration law and the interpretation of that law by the Trump administration. More than 800 houses of worship across the country have volunteered to shelter illegal immigrants
The 2016 presidential campaign is still being litigated – literally. As Trump administration controversies command media attention, a little-noticed set of lawsuits against the Democratic Party continues to play out in the courts – including one claiming coordination with the Clinton campaign against Bernie Sanders amounted to election fraud. The case being heard in a Florida courtroom dates back to last summer, when the Democrats were thrown into turmoil following the leak of documents that appeared to show some DNC officials sought to undermine Sanders in the party primary. Jared Beck, a Harvard law expert, shortly afterward filed a class-action
Together with his family and diplomatic team, U.S. President Donald Trump became the first president to visit Jerusalem’s Western Wall on Monday. President Trump stood before the holiest place where Jews are permitted to pray before inserting a note between the monumental stones. (Photo) President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were accompanied by the Rabbi of the Western Wall, Shmuel Rabinowitz, who said on Israel Radio that he recited two psalms with the U.S. leader. One of them, Psalm 122, speaks of Jerusalem as a “city that is united together”. (Photos) The president was also joined on the visit
Congressional technology aides are baffled that data-theft allegations against four former House IT workers — who were banned from the congressional network — have largely been ignored, and they fear the integrity of sensitive high-level information. Imran Awan and three relatives were colleagues until police banned them from computer networks at the House of Representatives after suspicion the brothers accessed congressional computers without permission. Five Capitol Hill technology aides told The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group that members of Congress have displayed an inexplicable and intense loyalty towards the suspects who police say victimized them. The baffled aides wonder
CBS This Morning on Monday sounded like Iran’s state television, mocking that Donald Trump “is doing the bidding of American arms manufacturers.” According to network journalists, Trump also “dashed” the hopes of moderates in the country and stealthily pleased “hardliners” with his Middle East speech. Using the repressive country’s talking points, Elizabeth Palmer sneered, “Iranians are waking up this morning to find themselves squarely back in the firing line of the White House. The view from here is that Donald Trump came to Saudi Arabia mainly as a sales rep for American arms manufacturers.” Palmer did not offer any negative critiques
Four people were killed and at least 34 others, including a 9-year-old boy, were wounded in shootings across Chicago between Friday night and Monday morning. The weekend’s latest fatal shooting happened about 2:40 p.m. Sunday, when an 18-year-old man was killed and a 15-year-old boy was wounded in the 100 block of North Parkside in the West Side Austin neighborhood. The man was shot in the back and pronounced dead at the scene at 2:52 p.m., according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. His name has not yet been released. The teenager, who was not cooperating
Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood has hit out at political correctness, claiming one of his greatest films could not have been produced in today´s climate. The 86-year-old regaled the Cannes Film Festival also predicted a possible return to acting and decried what he perceives to be the world´s collective loss of sense of humour. Eastwood was honored with several screenings of his films, including one marking the 25th anniversary of ´Unforgiven.´ In a conversation on Sunday, the 86-year-old director said he would revisit acting ´someday.´ The last time Eastwood appeared on screen was 2012´s ´Trouble With the Curve.´ Before that, he starred
Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said Monday he saw signs that Saudi Arabia was "liberalizing their society" following his trip with President Donald Trump to the Middle Eastern country, but also noted possible evidence to the contrary by saying no protests of any kind could be seen during his visit. "There was not a single hint of a protester anywhere there during the whole time we were there," Ross said in an interview on CNBC´s "Squawk Box." "Not one guy with a bad placard." Saudi Arabia criminalizes protesters, jailing and sometimes beheading those who speak out against the government. Ross traveled with
Top Republican lawmakers have expressed concerns about the cuts President Trump plans to make for the 2018 budget year, which is due out Tuesday. The blueprint is certain to include a wave of cuts to benefit programs such as Medicaid, food stamps, federal employee pensions and farm subsidies. The fleshed-out proposal follows up on an unpopular partial release in March that targeted the budgets of domestic agencies and foreign aid for cuts averaging 10 percent -- and made lawmakers in both parties recoil. The new cuts are unpopular as well. “We think it´s wrongheaded," Rep. Mike Conaway, R-Texas, chairman of
While former president Barack Obama hit the links on the first day of their Tuscany vacation, his wife Michelle was spotted taking in the sights in Montalcino almost 70 miles away. The former first lady wore an off-the-shoulder pink top, with white ripped jeans and white sandals as she wandered around the stunning Italian hill town on Saturday, accompanied by members of her security team. Michelle was later seen tucking into some Italian gelato before she climbed into her waiting car. Meanwhile her husband Barack enjoyed a day of golf at the exclusive Castiglion del Bosco course, during the Obamas´
Actor Robert De Niro delivered an outburst of anti-Trump vitriol just before the Saturday night debut on HBO of The Wizard of Lies, a movie in which he plays Bernie Madoff. He told USA Today that Madoff’s story still “resonates” thanks to President Donald Trump and that while what Madoff “did was horrible and awful; monstrous,” Trump is worse than the Ponzi scheme criminal since he’s a “bad con artist” who every day is “doing something that is absolutely — what word can I use? He’s just a slob. He’s a pig.” From the top of the article by Patrick
Two leading Republican senators on Sunday said President Trump is making a mistake by failing to more forcefully confront Saudi Arabia over the country’s treatment of women and other human rights issues in the Middle Eastern nation. Mr. Trump’s highly anticipated address in Saudi Arabia on Sunday will focus heavily on the fight against terrorism but will include little in terms of human rights. While administration officials say the topic has been discussed in private settings, critics say that’s simply not enough. “America is the unique nation in history, with all of our errors and failings and mistakes we’ve made
Notre Dame students are planning to walk out during the Vice President´s commencement address. The students are planning to leave ´respectfully and quietly´ before Mike Pence delivers his speech on Sunday, and are organizing the walkout because they disagree with his administration´s stance on immigration, gay rights and the criminal justice system. The organizers of the walk out are a part of a student group in Notre Dame called We Stand For ND. For four days, this group has galvanized support for their plan through Twitter and Facebook, to stand with the ´vulnerable´ members in their community. ´The participation and
SOUTH BEND — Vice President Mike Pence on Sunday delivered a call for leadership to the University of Notre Dame´s newest graduates, urging them "to be men and women of integrity and values" and to stand up against the suppression of free speech. "Notre Dame is a campus where deliberation is welcomed, where opposing views are debated, and where every speaker, no matter how unpopular or unfashionable, is afforded the right to air their views in the open for all to hear," Pence told students at the commencement ceremony. But about 150 people, about half students and the other half
Ex-Vice President Joe Biden slammed Trump for his ´coarse rhetoric´ and causing ´political chaos´ during a college commencement speech on Sunday. Biden was speaking to the 480 students of Maine liberal arts institution Colby College when he launched the attack on the current administration. He complained that the GOP had spent the election appealing to the ´baser instincts´ and fears of the electorate, stoked ´our darkest emotions,´ and turned Muslims, immigrants and transgender people into scapegoats for a struggling working class. After calling on students to return to the ´basic principles´ of the Constitution, he then congratulated them one by
While Barack was hitting the links in Tuscany, Michelle Obama was hitting the sights about 67 miles away ... and looking good in pink doing it. The former First Lady was strolling around in Montalcino, Italy this weekend -- and she appeared to be the talk of the small town. You can´t blame the locals ... she kinda stood out with the pink and white. Plus ... it´s Michelle Freakin´ Obama. She´ll always turn heads. Michelle snagged a second for herself during a food break, but then it was right back into the international spotlight. Togliti di mezzo!
On July 8, 2016, 27 year-old Democratic staffer Seth Conrad Rich was murdered in Washington DC. The killer or killers took nothing from their victim, leaving behind his wallet, watch and phone. Shortly after the killing, Redditors and social media users were pursuing a “lead” saying that Rich was en route to the FBI the morning of his murder, apparently intending to speak to special agents about an “ongoing court case” possibly involving the Clinton family. Seth Rich’s father Joel told reporters, “If it was a robbery — it failed because he still has his watch, he still has his
China killed or imprisoned 18 to 20 CIA sources from 2010 to 2012, hobbling U.S. spying operations in a massive intelligence breach whose origin has not been identified, the New York Times reported on Saturday. Investigators remain divided over whether there was a spy within the Central Intelligence Agency who betrayed the sources or whether the Chinese hacked the CIA´s covert communications system, the newspaper reported, citing current and former U.S. officials. The Chinese killed at least a dozen people providing information to the CIA from 2010 through 2012, dismantling a network that was years in the making, the newspaper
A Project Baltimore investigation has found five Baltimore City high schools and one middle school do not have a single student proficient in the state tested subjects of math and English. (Snip) It’s a school where only half the students graduate and just a few dozen will go to college. Last year, not one student scored proficient in any state testing.
Somebody, please explain to Jake Tapper about Arabs and the “strong horse.” Osama bin Laden explained it pretty economically years ago, but that’s a message that is difficult for liberals living in a fantasy world to grasp. After all, Barack Obama had a Muslim father, and he’s a “person of color” (one of the most annoying expressions in the English lexicon, casting Caucasians as colorless), so there must be some kumbayah, right? Jen Psaki, to whom Tapper asked his question, is in no position to explain, as she first tries to grab credit for the arms deal Trump just announced
The latest anonymous leak/news story, the New York Times’s “nut job” scoop, troubles me for at least three reasons. First, it’s disturbing that this kind of leaking occurs. In one week, among other leak-grounded stories, (1) Politico reported, based on a leak that must have originated with someone close to President Trump, that the president screamed at the television in response to a story about the FBI’s Russia investigation and asked aides why it wouldn’t go away; (2) the Washington Post reported that, at a meeting with very few attendees, Trump told Russian officials about confidential information obtained from a
