Pence woos conservatives with anti-abortion
adds to Obamacare repeal

Politico, by Rachael Bade and John Bresnahan

Original Article

Vice President Mike Pence appealed to prominent anti-abortion lawmakers on Monday night to support the House Obamacare replacement bill, touting “pro-life” provisions in the bill as a reason to vote "yes." During a White House meeting with the GOP leaders of the congressional pro-life caucus, Pence pitched the group on some of the bill´s restrictions on abortion, including one major change to the bill expected to be announced Monday that pro-lifers say is essential to their support. His arguments, as well as the recent change to the bill, convinced some members like Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-Mo.)

Comments:
It´s surprising the abortion issue wasn´t dealt with properly to begin with in this bill.

It is distressing how these single issue members buy into a piece of garbage because some clause protects their rice bowl. Without removing the insurance coverage mandates and the community rating mandates, this bill is worse than the real Obamacare.

Where is the concern for the big picture. The freedom of the American citizen? Only
Ted Cruz and Rand Paul seem to be looking out for us and I hope that they either get those two amendments or the bill goes down in the Senate.

Trump wants second crack at health
care before moving on to taxes
Washington Times, by Tom Howell, Jr.    Original Article

President Trump said Wednesday he still wants to tackle health care before moving on to tax reform, a shift that raises the stakes for congressional Republicans struggling to pin down an Obamacare replacement and untangle a web of fiscal deadlines. After the collapse last month of the first GOP bid to repeal Obamacare, Mr. Trump said he was done with the thorny issue and was instead ready to pass historic tax cuts. But he’s now come back to congressional Republicans’ stance, which is that the savings from repealing and replacing Obamacare will allow for deeper tax cuts. “Health care’s going to happen

U.S. intelligence officials have intercepted communications that feature Syrian soldiers preparing for last week´s deadly chemical attack, according to a report. The Syrian government forces were caught on the intercepts consulting chemical experts just hours before the atrocious assault last Tuesday, a senior U.S. official told CNN. The official stressed that the intelligence community was not aware of the attack before it happened, noting that the U.S. intercepts such massive quantities of communications in Syria that they can´t immediately be processed. The White House has previously said there is "no doubt" that the Assad regime carried out the attack, which

The president, in an interview with NYP’s Michael Goodwin, threw more shade than a sequoia on the man who conventional wisdom has long held is not only the architect of Trumpism, but the Iago darkly manipulating the new president. The conventional wisdom, it would seem, is all wet when it comes to Bannon. There’s a fairly straightforward explanation for Trump not only diminishing Bannon’s perceived

Delta Air Lines CEO Edward Bastian (DAL) on Wednesday defended the air travel industry’s method of overbooking flights, hours after New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie called on the federal government to ban the practice that led United Airlines (UAL) to forcibly remove a paid customer from one of its planes. “Overbooking is a valid business process. There [are] operational considerations behind that,” Bastian said during a conference call with analysts and reporters. “The key is managing [overbookings] before you get to the boarding process.” Bastian explained that overbookings have a “relatively small impact” on Delta’s day-to-day operations, adding that ticket

WASHINGTON – White House Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney said President Trump’s budget proposal is “consistent” with his campaign theme of “draining the swamp” because it seeks to “restructure” D.C. and “reduce” the size of government. Mulvaney also predicted that the Trump administration would be able to run the federal government “more efficiently” than the Obama administration with a smaller federal workforce. “Really, what you are talking about doing is restructuring Washington, D.C. – that is how you ‘drain the swamp,’ so the president uses different words. The FBI reportedly secured a court order to conduct surveillance on one of Donald Trump aides during the 2016 presidential campaign because they believed he was a Russian agent. The FBI, along with the Justice Department, obtained a warrant from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to monitor the activities of Trump foreign policy aide Carter Page because investigators believed he was acting as an agent for a foreign power, according to The Washington Post. In what the paper described as a lengthy declaration, the government said Page “engaged in clandestine intelligence activities on behalf of Moscow.” The application was submitted in July

ALBANY, N.Y. -- There´s a big string attached to New York´s free middle-class college tuition initiative: Students must stay in the state after graduation or else pay back the benefit. Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday that the requirement was added to protect the state´s investment in a student´s education by ensuring they don´t take advantage of free tuition and then leave New York. The rule wasn´t a part of Cuomo´s free college tuition proposal when he unveiled it in January but was inserted during final negotiations with lawmakers over the state budget, which was approved Sunday. By all estimates, she’s a multi-millionaire anyway, although the Iranian-born American has spent most of her career in government. And the Obama adviser has few expenses, no apartment rent, for instance. This winter she joined Barack and Michelle together living in that $5 million mansion they’re renting in Washington. Instead, Graham has only the third-worst approval ranking in the U.S. Senate, according to poll results out Tuesday from Morning Consult. Among voters in the Palmetto State, the poll found Graham had a 40 percent disapproval rate and a 46 percent approval rate. Fourteen percent of the state’s residents voiced no opinion. Compare that with South Carolina´s other senator, Tim Scott, who has the approval of 59 percent of the state´s voters, while a smaller 19

It’s hard to find examples of worse decision-making and customer treatment than United Airlines having a passenger dragged from an overbooked plane. But United’s shabby treatment of Geoff Fearns, including a threat to place him in handcuffs, comes close. Fearns, 59, is president of TriPacific Capital Advisors, an Irvine investment firm that handles more than half a billion dollars in real estate holdings on behalf of public pension funds. He had to fly to Hawaii last week for a business conference. Fearns needed to return early so he paid about $1,000 for a full-fare, first-class ticket to Los Angeles. He boarded the

Supply and Demand: After forcing a paying customer off a flight to make room for an employee, United Airlines is catching hell, and rightly so. But what´s really disturbing is that no one at United understood the most basic principle of free market economics. The story goes like this. United overbooked a flight from Chicago to Louisville, Ky., on Sunday night. That´s hardly unusual. But in this case, United wanted to make room for four employees who needed to be in Louisville the next day, and the next flight to Louisville wasn´t until Monday afternoon. According to news accounts, United offered passengers

Susan Rice is a liar and that’s the truth. What’s amazing is that it has taken years for the major media to admit it, despite epic evidence. Even journalists have a breaking point -- in this case, false statements about deadly chemical weapons. Rice’s lies have angered conservatives for years. Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer nicknamed the former national security adviser the “liar in chief,” according to The Blaze. Rice’s willingness to misrepresent what happened during the Benghazi attack was so amazing, that she repeated it on five separate Sunday morning news talk shows. It was a lie that might make

Airlines have the power to forcibly remove any flier it pleases — but that doesn’t make it right. While Monday’s incident has caused a major public-relations disaster, it could be considered perfectly legal under United and US Department of Transportation guidelines. Airline staffers can boot anyone they want when they need to make room for crew members or a flight is overbooked, a spokesperson said. They are first required to ask for volunteers, but if there are none, airlines like United will then use their computer system to choose passengers. The airline is not allowed to boot individuals with disabilities or unaccompanied minors. The
