Montana Democrats Won´t Find Anyone
As Cool As Jeff Bridges to Save Them

Atlantic Wire, by Arit John

Jeff Bridges is, unsurprisingly, not planning on running for Senate, despite calls to draft him into the race. Luckily, there are a few people, including a rancher and a high school math teacher, running to fill the recently opened spot. Montana Democrats have been in the market for a credible senate candidate ever since Sen. John Walsh dropped out of the race last week, following revelations that he´d plagiarized his masters thesis. Lizabeth Pratt, a Montana businesswoman and former acquaintance of the Bridges (who also own a home in the state) launched a petition for the Dude´s run on Change.org last

Two possible campaign slogans:

A) The Dude Abides

2) Careful man, there´s a beverage here!

And will Montana adopt a rule preventing you from rolling on Shabbos?

Vapid Dems always seem to turn to movie/TV celebrities in a pinch. Guess they don´t believe in understudies. No second string.

The commie democrats will find a way to run some celeb in his place. They cheat it´s what comes natural to them. Bruce Springsteen might suddenly become a Montana citizen if he´s not committed to New York or where ever. Neil Young could drop in from Canada. There are many options but Republicans can still blow this one count on it.

I think Daines can beat him. Montanans are getting tired of Brian´s ´cuteness´.

With only about four weeks until the election, and faced with the very real possibility that the Republicans will take back the Senate, President Obama and the Democrats have no choice but to try and put the best spin possible on the economy. In a “60 Minutes” interview Sunday, the president said, “I can put my record against any leader around the world in terms of digging ourselves out of a terrible, almost unprecedented financial crisis. Ronald Reagan used to ask the question, ‘Are you better off than you were four years ago?’ In this case, are you better off

Robert Atherton´s mantra has always been this: better late than never. As in cleaning the garage, getting a health checkup or, say, paying that parking ticket he got 50 years ago in a small town in northern Italy. Not long ago, the 67-year-old Phoenix engineering firm owner was going through a suitcase he carried on an excursion to Europe, a foray with two high school buddies in 1964. And there it was: a ticket he got for parking his motor scooter in a no-stopping zone in Lerici, a village in the oft-traveled northern region of Liguria. Atherton had thrown the ticket into

They used to deport illegal aliens. They used to shoot deserters. But that was then and this is now. So the three Afghan Army deserters who fled Camp Edwards and, after a short sojourn at a local strip club, took off for Canada, are now begging for political “asylum.” And we all know what political asylum means — instant welfare, forever. Instead of going in front of a firing squad, or at least being sent back to Afghanistan to fight the Taliban, the deserters are likely to score EBT cards, MassHealth, WIC vouchers, Section 8 housing, free translators — the full Tsarnaev, in

Tom and Jerry cartoons on television are being accompanied by a warning that they may depict scenes of "racial prejudice". The classic cat and mouse cartoons, some made more than 70 years ago, carry a warning for subscribers to Amazon Prime Instant Video. There have been claims of racist stereotyping in the depiction of a black maid in the cartoon series. Amazon´s warning says such prejudice was once "commonplace" in US society. Tom and Jerry, once a staple of children´s television on British television, is being presented with a cautionary note about "ethnic and racial prejudices".

Kansas Tea Party supporters are threatening to sit out the state’s pivotal Senate election, potentially dealing another blow to the reelection hopes of Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.). Though schisms within the GOP base rarely have such an outsized impact on a general election contest, the lack of support from the conservative base could be devastating to the vulnerable Roberts’s chances against surging independent Greg Orman. Multiple sources tell The Hill that a group of Tea Party leaders in the state are meeting Wednesday to try to decide whether they should go to bat for the incumbent this fall or sit out of

A white Ohio woman is suing a Downers Grove-based sperm bank, alleging that the company mistakenly gave her vials from an African-American donor, a fact that she said has made it difficult for her and her same-sex partner to raise their now 2-year-old daughter in an all-white community. Jennifer Cramblett, of Uniontown, Ohio, alleges in the lawsuit filed Monday in Cook County Circuit Court that Midwest Sperm Bank sent her the vials of an African-American donor´s sperm in September 2011 instead of those of a white donor that she and her white partner had ordered. Americans love animals, even cats. Eight million stray dogs and cats find their way into animal shelters every year, and the lucky ones are adopted into a warm home with a loving family. Shelters are operated by small charities usually called “humane societies,” whose good deeds are funded by private generosity. The Humane Society of the United States trades on the good of others to finance a radical agenda. In May, the Humane Society and a handful of other radical animal-rights groups had to write a $15.8 million check to the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus for damages done. The

They didn’t get much. Noncompetes are a contractual tool with which employers can require new hires to agree not to work for a competitor for some time after they leave. Well, that didn’t take long. Just two weeks into the new season of “The View,” co-hosts Rosie O’Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg tore into each other during a commercial break — in front of their stunned studio audience. The spat erupted Thursday after Goldberg interrupted O’Donnell to go to a commercial break before the mother of five was finished commenting in a “Hot Topic” discussion about spanking children on the ABC gabfest. O’Donnell refuses to wear an earpiece to stay in contact with producers while the live show is airing, so she had no clue it was time to stop talking.

With US production continuing to boom, its output is set to exceed Saudi Arabia’s this month or

A presidential defeat isn’t an easy thing to bounce back from. And Mitt Romney did it twice. So it was understandable that after he lost the presidential race in 2012, he was adamant about closing the door to the possibility of a third campaign. But recently, speculation is whirling that Romney may not be so adamant anymore. When asked if he was running in a New York Times interview published earlier this week, Romney said : “I have nothing to add to the story. Why, she asked, wasn’t he being better protected by his Secret Service agents? "And he was so amazed at how Americans organized themselves -- you know, coming from aristocratic Europe, which was totally top-down and hierarchical -- he couldn´t believe how many of us were joiners.
