Meet The ´Mega Troll´ Who´s Turned
A Major US Senate Race Into His

Charles C. Johnson hadn´t covered the Mississippi Senate Republican primary until it was already over. Almost a week after incumbent U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran officially staved off a primary challenge from state Sen. Chris McDaniel — results that were certified this week — Johnson exploded onto the Mississippi scene in a major way. On June 30, Johnson published a story that was viewed in conservative circles as a bombshell — and in mainstream circles as a joke. Johnson, who calls himself an independent journalist and runs a site called GotNews, was told by an African-American, self-proclaimed reverend that he was

McDaniel and his supporters have a legitimate reason to be upset and challenge the results. This guy does them no favors. He´s strictly trying to make a name for himself. I wouldn´t trust a word that he writes.

Kurdish Pleas For Weapons
May Finally Be Heard
Associated Press, by Ken Dilanian    Original Article
Posted By: StormCnter- 8/9/2014 12:17:00 PM     Post Reply
WASHINGTON -- For years, Kurdish officials have beseeched the Obama administration to let them buy U.S. weapons. For just as long, the administration has rebuffed America´s closest allies in Iraq. U.S. officials insisted they could only sell arms to the government in Baghdad, even after Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki broke a written promise to deliver some of them to the Kurds. Their peaceful, semi-autonomous northern region had been the lone success story to come out of the 2003 U.S. invasion. Now, the administration is confronting the consequences of that policy. The Islamic State group, which some American officials have

With national ambitions, Ted Cruz

FORT WORTH — The burgeoning rivalry between Texas’ Republican titans took center stage Friday as both assailed Washington but also managed a few subtle swipes at each other. Sen. Ted Cruz and Gov. Rick Perry are in the pool testing the presidential waters and hoping to make a splash among the 500 conservative activists at the national RedState convention. But also on display were the sharpening themes of the nascent campaigns and the sharpening thrusts of their own differences. Perry sold himself as an experienced chief executive who has made hard decisions and limited government overreach. He has suggested voters are wary of

May the government try John

Washington Post, by Eugene Volokh    Original Article

The death of James Brady, President Ronald Reagan’s press secretary, at age 73 earlier this week has been ruled a homicide by a medical examiner. Brady was injured during an attempt on Reagan’s life in 1981. Let’s assume that the government can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that, but for the shooting, Brady would have lived longer (pretty much the legal test for causation in this sort of situation). Could the shooter, John Hinckley Jr., be tried for murdering Brady, even though he has already been tried for attempting to kill Brady, and found not guilty by reason of insanity? The

The Sheriff leading the investigation into the brutal slaying of a Border Control Agent by two illegal immigrants has revealed local farmers in his county have reported spotting gangs of armed Mexicans ´in military fatigues´ marching through their fields. Sheriff Larry Spence’s department played a key role in catching Ismael Hernandez and Gustavo Tijerina after they allegedly gunned down hero officer Javier Vega Jr. in front of his mother, father, wife and three sons while they were on a family fishing trip. Since their capture,Fox News reported that the suspects are both Mexican nationals who were in the U.S. illegally and have

There have been Christians in Mosul for just shy of two millennia, since the first century. There are none today. The Yazidi are practitioners of Kurdistan´s oldest religion, fire-worshippers whose presence in the region predates Islam. They´re either being executed or starved to death on a mountain: We are being slaughtered. Our entire religion is being wiped off the face of the earth. ISIS are fast-track Nazis. No messing about with a few property restrictions and intermarriage laws as a little light warm-up: They´re only in the business of "final solutions", and they start on Day One and don´t quit until the last

True to its word for once, Hamas today resumed rocket attacks on Israel as soon as the cease fire was scheduled to expire. It was a smart play by the terrorist outfit. One senses that Hamas’ stranglehold on Gaza depends on securing Israel’s agreement to remove its blockade. Without this, Hamas has nothing to show for the devastation brought on by its latest war. In this sense, Hamas has little choice but to keep attacking Israel until Netanyahu shows a willingness to lift the blockade. But precisely because Hamas’ viability may depend on ending the blockade (and for other reasons as well),

TEL AVIV — The Israeli song “Ein Li Eretz Acheret” is a curious tune. “I have no other country,” go the lyrics, “even if my land is on fire.” It’s hard to find a Jewish Israeli who doesn’t identify with it. Lefty Israelis interpret it as a protest song. It was sung at demonstrations against the 1982 Lebanon War and vigils following the 1995 assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. Israelis on the right interpret it as a patriotic song about attachment to the land; they sang it after terrorist attacks and during the 2005 withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. I was

It has been a good couple of weeks for military veterans and their families, who may at long last see real reform at the Department of Veterans Affairs. As an advocate for veterans, I have been generous with my criticisms of the VA and demands for new leadership of the agency. Over the past several years the VA has devolved into a toxic cesspool of dysfunction and corruption devoted to protecting a cosseted class of bureaucrats rather than serving veterans. And as the department’s scandal snowballed, both Congress and President Obama failed to provide the needed oversight and leadership to right the

The ghosts of Benghazi are haunting the Obama administration as it attempts to gain the upper hand in the narrative concerning the swap of the American soldier, Bowe Bergdahl, for five of the worst of the worst Taliban terrorists who had been held at Guantanamo Bay. Nor should they. The director for counterterrorism at the National Security Council, Army Col. Mark Mitchell, recently told The Washington Times that one of the

For me, watching the Food Network was always an easy escape from the stresses of daily life. There was just something calming about watching chefs in action, and this network had perfected Zen cooking. They’d often use a natural-light filter that made food appear delectable, as if the chefs were blissfully cooking their culinary delights in the sunlit designer kitchen of a tastefully decorated, impeccable home somewhere in the Hamptons. (Well, with Ina Garten, that actually is the case.) I’ve never been anywhere near a sunlit designer kitchen in the Hamptons, but I still found it all oddly soothing. I’d

Speaking at the U.S.-Africa Summit earlier this week, Secretary of State John Kerry had a bit of astonishing advice for African leaders. While noting that Africa faces a starvation problem, he also admonished its leaders not to create more farms. The reason? Adding more farms would contribute to “global warming.” Yeah, he really said that: “Certain agricultural processes can actually release carbon pollution and actually contribute to the problem in the first place. It’s a twisted circle. Always complicated. But we also know that there are certain ways to change that. For example, rather than convert natural areas to new farmland, a process

PRESIDENT OBAMA was right to order military action to prevent a potential genocide in northern Iraq and to stop forces of the al-Qaeda-derived Islamic State from advancing on Baghdad or the Kurdish capital of Irbil. However, the steps the president authorized on Thursday amount to more of his administration’s half-measures, narrowly tailored to this week’s emergency and unconnected to any coherent strategy to address the conflagration spreading across the Middle East. While U.S. airstrikes and drops of supplies may prevent the terrorist forces from massacring the Yazidi sect or toppling the pro-Western regime in Kurdistan, Mr. Obama lacks a plausible
