The BBQ joint where NO ONE cuts the line...

Barack Obama may have lost a few approval rating points with this move. The president was seen cutting the line at Austin´s Franklin Barbecue Thursday afternoon, while in town to raise money for the Democratic Party. Lives at the eatery are infamously long, and have been known to stretch as long as three hours wait. But Mr Obama did no waiting today, as he showed up at the restaurant, shook a few hands and made his way straight to the register to order more than $300 worth of meat. ´I know this is a long line. I feel real bad, but – I’m gonna

When Bush 41 was running for Prez, he stopped in Dayton for a campaign rally. Mr. Bush decided to visit the Pine Club, a local steak house with a reputation for two things: You wait for a table (no reservations), and they don´t take credit cards.

Mr. Bush cheated a bit, having the SS guys wait instead of hanging out at the bar, but he didn´t line jump.

Why not,....Obammy has cut in front of the entire country his whole fake, phony, affirmative action privileged life. I´m surprised that he actually paid the check.

Austin is the San Francisco of Texas. I don´t know why Austin hasn´t moved to California, Oregon, Colorado or Washington state to just get it over with. Austin has nothing to do with Texas.

#8 calling names is not the same as discussing reasonableness. WE the PEOPLE in the USA have general understanding that presidents have certain prerogatives due to the need for security, and others due to needs of the office. Thus, we accept (begrudgingly), closed highways for presidential transport. But when a pres steps over the line, as did Clinton for his LAX-stopping haircut, many of us think the line between presidential prerogative and unseemly behavior is crossed. Jumping to the head of the food line may simply be bad manners, or it may be indicative of a deeper, and more virulent, personality disorder.

There was printed in a report an evaluation of people who served around the past presidents (close and surrounding) that stated the most civility.

An example, Bush didn´t land in Louisiana after the hurricane because extra security would have been extended to the airport when it was really needed in the flooded areas. He received flack for not being in the middle of the mess instantly.

The earliest Bush family extended courtesy to the Secret Service on many occasions.

The Reagans were noted for consideration for those around them.

Then there are those that have cursed the secret service, The Clintons, and the Obamas.

So, civility, courtesy, doesn´t end because one is elected as the highest representative of the people of the US. To assume so is clear evidence of pomposity. So there!

I was listening to KLBJ Radio from Austin this morning. Not only did our Dear Leader(US) cut in line, he had to mooch money from one of his aides to pay for the grub.

Now, I know most guys like Obama don´t carry cash, etc., but you´d a thunk that some aid would have discreetly passed the boss a couple of sawbucks ahead of time to pay the tab.

By the way, Austin traffic, which on a good day is a mess, was even worse during Dear Leader(US)´s visit. About a mile of IH-35 exits in downtown were closed, overpasses closed and commuters were told to expect problems until about 3 pm (which I´m sure coincided with Dear Leader(US)´s exit from Austin.

Most of us in Texas favor a border fence ... or at least a cattle guard around Austin to keep the liberals penned up and away from the rest of us.

There are not many real guardians of our Constitutional Republic left. In a speech in Boston, First Lady Michelle Obama left behind talk of exercise and school lunches, exchanging it all for bald politics by claiming that under her husband the US economy is now better off "by almost every economic measure." The First Lady appeared at the Strand Theater Friday to stump for Martha Coakley´s campaign for Governor of Massachusetts. Coakley needs help badly, as even in blue, blue Massachusetts, the race between Democrat Coakley and Republican Charlie Baker is essentially a toss up. NEW YORK — As same-sex marriage cases cascade through the federal courts, Republican politicians find themselves awkwardly split into three camps. There´s a small but growing number who favor legalizing gay marriage, a hard-core faction that continues to denounce it, and a sizable group in between that seems to wish the issue would disappear. At one end of the spectrum, at least eight GOP members of Congress have endorsed same-sex marriage, and two openly gay GOP candidates for the House hope to join them. Note: Hate speech, not hate crimes. YouGov asked people about hate crimes for its poll too and found bipartisan support for the federal law that provides steeper penalties for crimes motivated by hatred of the victim’s race, religion, gender, or national origin. Sixty-four percent of Dems gave thumbs-up to that versus 54 percent of Republicans. A plurality of Republicans also support expanding that law to target hate crimes committed against gays: 44 percent say yes versus 30 percent who say no. It´s the sort of party-rejecting step that could position a reinvented Romney to become America´s first non-Democrat or Republican president since the 1800s. Scientists are to challenge the climate-change sceptics by vastly improving the speed with which they can prove links between a heatwave or other extreme weather event and man-made changes to the atmosphere. It typically takes about a year to determine whether human-induced global warming played a role in a drought, storm, torrential downpour or heatwave – and how big a role it played. This allows climate sceptics to dismiss any given extreme event as part of the “natural weather variation” in the immediate aftermath, while campaigners automatically blame it on global warming. In her remarks, Obama pushed the President´s newest campaign line that he has saved the economy based on

Meghan McCain joined the dog pile on the Secret Service this week, saying she’s had “nothing but horrible experiences" with the agency and likening the agents to “glorified mall cops.” The 29-year-old author and television personality, who is also the daughter of former GOP presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), opened up on Pivot’s “TakePart Live” about some of her interactions with the Secret Service. "I have nothing but horrible experiences with the Secret Service,” McCain said. “One of my friends called them glorified mall cops and I don´t think that´s terribly far off. I found them cliquey. I hated

I’m always sceptical when I hear scare-mongering claims about diseases. From bird flu to SARS, we’re repeatedly told it’s going to be the new Plague that will wipe everyone out and then…it doesn’t. Probably because the scare-mongering itself makes people take it seriously enough to prevent it spreading. But there is something very sinister and frightening about this Ebola outbreak, which has so far infected 7,100 and killed 3,300. [Snip] It’s hard to think of a more cack-handed, dangerously inept response than what transpired in Dallas. Consider what we now know: Thomas Eric Duncan, a 42-year-old Liberian citizen, had been

WASHINGTON — Representative Elijah E. Cummings of Maryland was at the grocery store the other day when he ran into an elderly black woman who expressed growing concern about President Obama’s safety. Why, she asked, wasn’t he being better protected by his Secret Service agents? The furor that led to this week’s resignation of the director of the Secret Service resonated deeply among blacks, outraged that those supposed to be guarding the first black president were somehow falling down on the job — and suspicious even without evidence that it may be deliberate. “It is something that is widespread in
