Stunned by Israel´s fierce response,
Hamas sends distress signals

Jerusalem Post, by Khaled Abu Toameh

Despite fiery statements issued by Hamas spokesmen over the past 48 hours, it was obvious Tuesday night that the Islamist movement was searching for ways to rid itself of the current escalation. Hamas feels that it has been forced into a confrontation with Israel – one that it did not want at this stage because of its increased isolation and financial crisis. The massive Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours have surprised Hamas and other Palestinian groups. Hamas apparently expected a limited response to the recent rocket attacks on Israeli cities and towns. But as the

When you fire rockets at Israel´s largest cities, including Tel Aviv, among other continuing atrocities and aggression, just what do you expect you are going to get in return; fresh bagels on your doorstep?

I love it. The Israelis did not go for supplies or barracks or ammo dumps. They bombed the homes of the hamas military leaders! Remember all those Israeli drones we kept hearing about flying over Gaza? They were doing a valuable service finding just where all those Bozo muslim monsters live.

Am I really reading this?:

The organization [Hamas] is concerned that if the IDF operation continues for another few days, the movement will pay a very heavy price – one that could even bring about an end to Hamas’s rule over the Gaza Strip.

Bringing about "an end to Hamas´ rule over the Gaza Strip" is just the beginning. Isn´t it obvious that Israel has had enough and is getting serious about wiping out Hamas, an organization which publicly claims as its goal the destruction of Israel?

Did Hamas expect a few softballs from Israel, then they´d go back to blowing up children and women in marketplaces and malls in Israel.

OPEN LETTER TO BIBI: About time. Israel has been more than patient for longer than necessary. Clear out the Gaza viper´s nest, then go after them wherever else their slime trail leads.

I find it comical that they start screaming peace once they start getting their butt kicked. You can only poke the badger so many times before he turns around and shows you what he is capable of. Hamas wants nothing less than the total extinction of Jews in Israel, that the response is as measured as it is just shows that the Israelis really just want to be able to live in peace. I hope that Israel continues to pound them and show them that they are not going to take it anymore.

As you know, there are generally 3 strains of Judaism in the US: Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox.

What I´ve observed is that Reform Jews and non-practicing ethnic Jews tend are lukewarm at best about Israel and often pro-Palestinian.

Overall it seems that Conservative and Orthodox Jews are supportive of Israel, but there are a few Orthodox Jews who are anti-Zionist and do not believe in having the state of Israel.

It looks like about an even split for and against Israel among all American Jews.

This is pathetically funny. The Hamas "bully boys" decide to launch a rocket assault on Israel and expect NO response? Then they whine that their commander´s houses are being targeted. Gee guys, that´s war strategy 101, kill the leaders.

Thugs and blustering bullies. That´s all the Islamists are. Confront them and they run away and whine about the unfairness of the world. The only things that saves Hamas and the Palestinians in general is Israel´s own experience with attempts at extermination. Israel could easily purge these areas and start anew but they will not.

Hamas is hilarious. The schoolyard bully punches the small kid and then finds out that he is a 3rd degree black belt. Israel has accomplished in four days what Lurch and the kenyan fraud have tried to do for months. The resulting peace agreement from this little war will be what Israel wants, not what Washington wants.

Pound the filthy animals until they scream. Lobbing rockets at cities and a nuclear reactor demands heavy payback.

The Israeli response is appropriate considering Hamas and the PLO are nothing more than terrorists. Hope Israel gives Hamas/PLO a major beatdown and ignores all their critics.

Hamas/PLO, the media, and all their lefty cronies will be leaning on the Obama gang to stop Israel. Look for the Obama gang to be critical of Israel and watch them be ignored. Obama has effectively destroyed American influence on the world stage.

Funny if it turns out that Hamas is weaker than everyone thought. Hezbollah and Iran will find that interesting. So will ISIS and AQ. Hamas will find themselves muscled out by the other Islamic gangs.

Awaking to an article such as this tends to put the entire day in perspective. Israel has been given the ability to tell its enemies to go pound sand. And they learned well. Now the hamas bullies cry uncle uncle uncle Israel, US pResident may not be your friend, but US Americans are. Wishing you much luck and much bravery. When your mission is accomplished there, we might ask you to come and assist your American friends in removing our black muslim from office. God be with you.

I think what really surprises Hamas is that they no longer have any friends in the region. al-sisi in Egypt wouldn´t mind seeing them wiped out. Turkey´s not complaining. Obama´s their only pal.

The Israelis will do it right, take out every stronghold of Hamas leadership, every rocket base, and every piece of technical equipment, any means of making war again.

No one will come to their aid. No Arab nation wants to engage the Israelis.

Iran is no match for the Israelis, they just hope for US support to wipe the Jewish nation off the face of the earth.

But they know O´Stinky is a non-starter and has no influence with the Israelis. He is just another piece of trash on the garbage pile of history.

It reminds me of a kid I knew in 9th grade, named Wiley.

Wiley made my life miserable in 9th grade. Every time I saw him, he would call me "skinny" or "skeleton". Non stop, he never tired. He´d get other kids to do it. I was a thin kid so I said a few things back to him but didn´t do much good.

When my sophomore year started, I had a resolve that my new year would not be as bad as the previous year. Wiley saw me that first day, mouthed off...and I said nothing, I hit him square in the cheek hard. The expression on his face was not of anger, or even fear, but of shock....like, how COULD I have hit him, why???!! His hand went up to his face, he just stared before running to the office for help, running like a girl with one hand at his side and the other covering his reddening face.

Did he really think he could just keep causing me pain, nonstop, forever and there would be no retaliation? That I would just roll over and take it?

Kind of like Hamas, eh?

It is obvious that Israel had spent a great deal of time and effort planning their response. All it took was an event to trigger their response.

We should admire their expert planning and execution - something that is greatly lacking in our own administration. There were no contingency plans when Benghazi occurred - not even plans for a timely response. The difference between Israel and America is night and day.

Oh, the IAF went after ammunition caches too. That´s why you often see some really dramatic secondary explosions. Its also why they seem to be bombing empty fields and other places. Hamas got smart after the last operation we didn´t finish properly and dug in (they also have made the rocket manufacturing domestic so unfortunately not only do they have many but they aren´t simply going to run out). Unfortunately they don´t feel able to stop and enter into a (temporary, always temporary) cease-fire until they have managed a "quality resistance operation", i.e. they have to be able to say they killed a lot of Israels and that isn´t a condition anyone is going to volunteer for--even our fifth column who rushed to the Temple Mount to cheer when the rockets reached Jerusalem.

The Middle East is like a vast dysfunctional family. Western leftists like to place all the blame on Israel, but for 1,300 years before modern Israel declared its independence, Muslims were routinely killing each other, following the rule: Me against my brother, my brothers and me against our cousins, my clan against the world. One of the weirdest moves in this dysfunctional culture is for Arabs and Turks to accuse each other of being secret Jews. (Snip) But! Today, science comes to the rescue, in the form of DNA analysis. I first met David French back in 2004. He had just taken a job as president of the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, or FIRE. (Snip) By the end of the spring semester, I would bring David three plaintiffs in three separate public university speech code cases. He would win two of those cases after filing suit in federal court. The university caved in the third case after merely catching wind of the fact that they were about to be sued. We were off to a good start working together. Over the course of the summer I started to prepare

A young Orthodox rabbi of my acquaintance denounced Jews who exult in the mutual slaughter of Muslims from the pulpit on the Jewish New Year. He is of course correct: no-one should take pleasure in the death of noncombatants. (Snip) Since 9/11 I have argued that the strategic plan of Islamist terrorism is to poison the Western soul with horror, by setting in motion atrocities too grim for the Western mind to bear. There is very good reason to believe that they are succeeding. Judging by the proliferation of the horror genre in popular entertainment, we are succumbing to horror

From the window of his Paris home, Michel Ciardi can see into the waiting room of a government welfare agency where a predominantly Arab and African crowd awaits government checks. A former communist, Ciardi once believed the scene at the agency was a necessary element of French efforts to help integrate new immigrants. But that changed in 2000 after the second Palestinian intifada triggered a massive increase in anti-Semitic violence, much of it committed by Arab and African immigrants. The violence was enough to shift his political allegiance to the National Front, a far-right party long demonized by

Watching the parade of the naïve, the far left, and their energy-hogging celebrity manipulators marching in New York City this week, I was struck by how much these true believers had in common with jihadis, a notion reinforced by Perdue Professor Louis Rene Beres’ description of jihadis in Gatestone Institute and my friend “Ignatz´s’" comment at Just One Minute. Both movements seem to these authors to be a means of denying death and change and making the mortal, immortal and the insignificant individual life, a significant force when massed with others. If this is true -- and I think it is --

I became a math teacher by a circuitous route. My degree is in engineering. I spent five and a half years refurbishing nuclear submarines, and then I quit work to bear, rear, and eventually homeschool our three children. (Snip) This last year was my first experience first tutoring, then teaching Common Core, and I was curious. I had read the reports of elementary-school children crying over their homework and staying up past midnight to complete it, so I expected Common Core to be like Everyday Math, Mathland, and CPM: poorly explained, abstruse, confusing. I was correct on those counts. What surprised me was that

The Pew Forum just released a fascinating new poll on religion in public life. Among the headlines: 72 percent of Americans say the influence of religion on politics is declining, and the vast majority of these people say that’s a bad thing. (Snip) By a wide margin, Americans are more likely to see the Republican party (47 percent) as friendly to religion than they are the Democrats (29 percent), but it is noteworthy that less than half of Americans see the GOP as religion friendly. Can you imagine the reputation of a literary figure surviving the disclosure that he worked (however briefly and ineffectually) for Hitler´s Abwehr? Yet Ernest Hemingway worked for Stalin’s KGB and nobody (among the “smart set”) seems to bat an eye. According to KGB defector Alexander Vassiliev "the 42-year-old Hemingway was recruited by the KGB under the cover name "Argo" in 1941, and cooperated with Soviet agents whom he met in Havana and London. This comes from a book published in 2009 by Yale Univ. Press (not exactly a branch of the John Birch Society.)

Attorney General Eric Holder, the first attorney general in history to be held in contempt by the House of Representatives, surprised the political world today when he announced he would be resigning, effective on the confirmation of his successor. Holder will leave a troubled legacy and many unanswered questions as John Fund and I discovered when we were researching our new book, “Obama’s Enforcer: Eric Holder’s Justice Department.” The Justice Department veterans we talked to said that Holder has politicized the Department to an unprecedented degree, which should concern everyone who cares about the rule of law.

Europe’s descent to self-annihilation and a holocaust of its own making continues unabated as a court in Belgium this month granted a convicted rapist and murderer the right to die under Belgian euthanasia laws. This latest destructive blow to Western civilization’s Judeo-Christian moral order comes only months after Belgium’s King Philippe signed into law last March a bill allowing euthanasia for children of any age and dementia sufferers upon request. With this highly disturbing piece of legislation becoming law, Belgian opponents of euthanasia questioned who would be next after children were granted the barbarism to request their own deaths. In light of the ongoing nightmare that is the Islamic State, Foreign Policy, a magazine somewhat reflective of the establishment, has published an article that once again demonstrates why U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East is a disaster: because analysts and policymakers, unable or unwilling to grapple with foreign concepts, opt to articulate them through familiar Western paradigms. Titled “The Islamic State of Sexual Violence” and written by Aki Peritz and Tara Maller—“We both worked as CIA analysts focused on Iraq’s insurgency and counterterrorism during much of the war”—the Foreign Policy (FP) article opens with this telling sentence: “Of the

Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace asked neurosurgeon and GOP novelty Ben Carson, who is very vocally teasing a presidential run, if his inexperience disqualified him from the office, especially given the results of Obama’s alleged inexperience. “After looking at Barack Obama and what’s happened with his lack of political experience over the last six years, wouldn’t putting Ben Carson in the Oval Office be akin to putting a politician in an operating room and having him perform one of your brain surgeries?” Wallace asked. Shockingly, Carson said no. “I think what is required for leadership is wisdom and the

For President Obama, the color of a man’s skin is far more important than the content of his character. On the night when a police officer was shot in a Missouri town torn by racial strife, the president donned a shiny tuxedo to attend a ritzy black awards dinner, where he said police nationwide are to blame for community mistrust, even claiming that “most Americans” think the country is racist. Remember, when Ferguson exploded in racial rage in August, Mr. Obama chose not to curtail his 15-day vacation, spending day after day on the golf course in the white-skinned, white-wined, millionaire playground

The Justice Department is expected to ban profiling by federal law enforcement. Counter-terror investigators would be barred from undercover operations in mosques or other religious institutions unless there is reason to believe criminal activity is going on there, under a new policy expected within weeks. The new rules would ban profiling based on religion, ethnicity or sexual orientation and includes no exemption for national security investigations, the Los Angeles Times reports. The announcement of the new policy to crack down on law enforcement profiling was delayed for several months because of White House

President Obama firmly believes the United States is better off now than when he took office, even though the American people cannot “feel” it. During an interview with 60 Minutes’ Steve Kroft, Obama said, “the country is definitely better off than when I came into office.” “When I came into office, our economy was in crisis,” Obama said. The president then cited lower unemployment, private sector job growth, and deficit cuts as evidence of his administration’s success. “I can put my record against any leader around the world in terms of digging ourselves out of a terrible, almost unprecedented financial crisis,” Obama said. A Canadian member of the loathed Islamic State claimed the group is plotting an attack on New York City — and will one day fly its flag over the White House. Days before Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi warned of terrorist plots on subways in New York City and Paris, a video emerged showing an ISIS shill named Farah Shirdon widening the scope of the threat. “God willing, we will make some attacks in New York soon,” he said in a video interview with Vice News last week. “A lot of brothers are mobilizing there right now.” He vowed that U.S.-based fighters are “mobilizing for a brilliant attack.”

Democrats think conservatives in general, and Tea Partiers in particular, are stupid. Here’s how to reinforce that belief: Sit out the 2014 congressional elections because your favorite candidate lost his primary bid to an establishment Republican. If you’re a Kentucky conservative, you can stay home and b***h about Mitch while Alison “Rubberstamp” Grimes heads to Washington. If you’re in Mississippi, you can stay mad at Thad and allow Travis “no repeal” Childers to win. That’ll show those RINOs! It
