Stunned by Israel´s fierce response,
Hamas sends distress signals

Jerusalem Post, by Khaled Abu Toameh

Despite fiery statements issued by Hamas spokesmen over the past 48 hours, it was obvious Tuesday night that the Islamist movement was searching for ways to rid itself of the current escalation. Hamas feels that it has been forced into a confrontation with Israel – one that it did not want at this stage because of its increased isolation and financial crisis. The massive Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours have surprised Hamas and other Palestinian groups. Hamas apparently expected a limited response to the recent rocket attacks on Israeli cities and towns. But as the

When you fire rockets at Israel´s largest cities, including Tel Aviv, among other continuing atrocities and aggression, just what do you expect you are going to get in return; fresh bagels on your doorstep?

I love it. The Israelis did not go for supplies or barracks or ammo dumps. They bombed the homes of the hamas military leaders! Remember all those Israeli drones we kept hearing about flying over Gaza? They were doing a valuable service finding just where all those Bozo muslim monsters live.

Am I really reading this?:

The organization [Hamas] is concerned that if the IDF operation continues for another few days, the movement will pay a very heavy price – one that could even bring about an end to Hamas’s rule over the Gaza Strip.

Bringing about "an end to Hamas´ rule over the Gaza Strip" is just the beginning. Isn´t it obvious that Israel has had enough and is getting serious about wiping out Hamas, an organization which publicly claims as its goal the destruction of Israel?

Did Hamas expect a few softballs from Israel, then they´d go back to blowing up children and women in marketplaces and malls in Israel.

OPEN LETTER TO BIBI: About time. Israel has been more than patient for longer than necessary. Clear out the Gaza viper´s nest, then go after them wherever else their slime trail leads.

I find it comical that they start screaming peace once they start getting their butt kicked. You can only poke the badger so many times before he turns around and shows you what he is capable of. Hamas wants nothing less than the total extinction of Jews in Israel, that the response is as measured as it is just shows that the Israelis really just want to be able to live in peace. I hope that Israel continues to pound them and show them that they are not going to take it anymore.

As you know, there are generally 3 strains of Judaism in the US: Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox.

What I´ve observed is that Reform Jews and non-practicing ethnic Jews tend are lukewarm at best about Israel and often pro-Palestinian.

Overall it seems that Conservative and Orthodox Jews are supportive of Israel, but there are a few Orthodox Jews who are anti-Zionist and do not believe in having the state of Israel.

It looks like about an even split for and against Israel among all American Jews.

This is pathetically funny. The Hamas "bully boys" decide to launch a rocket assault on Israel and expect NO response? Then they whine that their commander´s houses are being targeted. Gee guys, that´s war strategy 101, kill the leaders.

Thugs and blustering bullies. That´s all the Islamists are. Confront them and they run away and whine about the unfairness of the world. The only things that saves Hamas and the Palestinians in general is Israel´s own experience with attempts at extermination. Israel could easily purge these areas and start anew but they will not.

Hamas is hilarious. The schoolyard bully punches the small kid and then finds out that he is a 3rd degree black belt. Israel has accomplished in four days what Lurch and the kenyan fraud have tried to do for months. The resulting peace agreement from this little war will be what Israel wants, not what Washington wants.

Pound the filthy animals until they scream. Lobbing rockets at cities and a nuclear reactor demands heavy payback.

Wish we could talk Bibi into accepting the next presidency of the U.S., now that being foreign born doesn´t disqualify anymore. I would truly not mind a massive immigration of jewish people from Israel into our country. It would increase the national IQ of America about 75%.

The Israeli response is appropriate considering Hamas and the PLO are nothing more than terrorists. Hope Israel gives Hamas/PLO a major beatdown and ignores all their critics.

Hamas/PLO, the media, and all their lefty cronies will be leaning on the Obama gang to stop Israel. Look for the Obama gang to be critical of Israel and watch them be ignored. Obama has effectively destroyed American influence on the world stage.

Funny if it turns out that Hamas is weaker than everyone thought. Hezbollah and Iran will find that interesting. So will ISIS and AQ. Hamas will find themselves muscled out by the other Islamic gangs.

Awaking to an article such as this tends to put the entire day in perspective. Israel has been given the ability to tell its enemies to go pound sand. And they learned well. Now the hamas bullies cry uncle uncle uncle Israel, US pResident may not be your friend, but US Americans are. Wishing you much luck and much bravery. When your mission is accomplished there, we might ask you to come and assist your American friends in removing our black muslim from office. God be with you.

I think what really surprises Hamas is that they no longer have any friends in the region. al-sisi in Egypt wouldn´t mind seeing them wiped out. Turkey´s not complaining. Obama´s their only pal.

The Israelis will do it right, take out every stronghold of Hamas leadership, every rocket base, and every piece of technical equipment, any means of making war again.

No one will come to their aid. No Arab nation wants to engage the Israelis.

Iran is no match for the Israelis, they just hope for US support to wipe the Jewish nation off the face of the earth.

But they know O´Stinky is a non-starter and has no influence with the Israelis. He is just another piece of trash on the garbage pile of history.

It reminds me of a kid I knew in 9th grade, named Wiley.

Wiley made my life miserable in 9th grade. Every time I saw him, he would call me "skinny" or "skeleton". Non stop, he never tired. He´d get other kids to do it. I was a thin kid so I said a few things back to him but didn´t do much good.

When my sophomore year started, I had a resolve that my new year would not be as bad as the previous year. Wiley saw me that first day, mouthed off...and I said nothing, I hit him square in the cheek hard. The expression on his face was not of anger, or even fear, but of shock....like, how COULD I have hit him, why???!! His hand went up to his face, he just stared before running to the office for help, running like a girl with one hand at his side and the other covering his reddening face.

Did he really think he could just keep causing me pain, nonstop, forever and there would be no retaliation? That I would just roll over and take it?

Kind of like Hamas, eh?

It is obvious that Israel had spent a great deal of time and effort planning their response. All it took was an event to trigger their response.

We should admire their expert planning and execution - something that is greatly lacking in our own administration. There were no contingency plans when Benghazi occurred - not even plans for a timely response. The difference between Israel and America is night and day.

Oh, the IAF went after ammunition caches too. That´s why you often see some really dramatic secondary explosions. Its also why they seem to be bombing empty fields and other places. Hamas got smart after the last operation we didn´t finish properly and dug in (they also have made the rocket manufacturing domestic so unfortunately not only do they have many but they aren´t simply going to run out). Unfortunately they don´t feel able to stop and enter into a (temporary, always temporary) cease-fire until they have managed a "quality resistance operation", i.e. they have to be able to say they killed a lot of Israels and that isn´t a condition anyone is going to volunteer for--even our fifth column who rushed to the Temple Mount to cheer when the rockets reached Jerusalem.

Government coercion of the financial sector to make irresponsible loans was the primary driver of the 2007-08 financial meltdown. Yet, as we’ve previously observed here, “Washington has searched every place but within for a scapegoat” – with the Obama Justice Department pursuing politically motivated investigations, prosecutions, and civil lawsuits against banks and credit rating agencies in order to concoct a history that blames predatory lending rather than statist policy. Now we learn that Eric Holder, the Tom Hagen of this racketeering enterprise of an administration, is using the vig that DOJ muscle is extorting from the banks to pour tens of

Federal judge strikes down part

SALT LAKE CITY — A federal judge declared a portion of Utah’s polygamy ban unconstitutional late Wednesday, essentially decriminalizing polygamy in the state. U.S. District Court Judge Clark Waddoups ruled the phrase in the law “‘or cohabits with another person’ is a violation of the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and is without a rational basis under the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.” The ruling comes in a lawsuit filed by reality TV polygamist Kody Brown and his wives, who left Utah fearing prosecution. They sued the state, arguing that the

A man convicted of the brutal killing of his ex-girlfriend and hiding her body in a locked closet for years has been turned down in an effort to get the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to consider his case. The court today declined to take up a lower appeals court ruling earlier this year, leaving in place Ira Einhorn´s conviction for the 1977 murder of Holly Maddux in Philadelphia. Einhorn fled the country and spent nearly 17 years hiding in Europe before being returned to the United States and convicted in 2002. In February, a Superior Court judge said a "vast and

"The best laid schemes of mice and men often go awry." -- Scottish poet Robert Burns, "To a Mouse" (1786) CAIRNRYAN, Scotland -- For Americans whose knowledge of this beautiful land is limited to kilts, whiskey, bagpipes and the film "Braveheart," the forthcoming referendum on whether Scotland should remain part of the United Kingdom or become an independent nation will come as a curiosity at best. The primary objection of those favoring separation is the lack of self-determination granted to Scots by the British government. Though Westminster in recent months has devolved more powers to Edinburgh, those favoring separation say it is

Export-Import Bank faces rocky

Congress will barely be in session in the 10 weeks before Election Day, and it will do very little legislating. One of the issues it does have to resolve, though, is what to do with the Export-Import Bank. Ex-Im is a federal agency that subsidizes U.S. exporters, giving taxpayer-backed financing to foreign companies and governments. Conservatives are giving this agency a hard time, and House leaders show no desire to take up a bill reauthorizing Ex-Im. But government-shutdown politics complicates things. Here´s the lay of the land: Democrats, for all their populist rhetoric and barbs at Big Business, are nearly

It isn’t hard to understand the truth about Israel and Hamas. (Snip) The greatest threat to faux reporters like the New York Times Israel bureau chief Jodi Rudoren and her colleagues are people who refuse to accept their distortions and insist that the truth be told. The most dangerous of the truth tellers are the non- Jews who stand up for Israel. This week, former British Labour MP Denis MacShane published an op-ed in Haaretz where he spoke to this point. MacShane argued that for Israel to win the information war being waged against it must cultivate non-Jewish defenders.

A whopping 68 percent of Americans think there should be a law that prohibits kids 9 and under from playing at the park unsupervised, despite the fact that most of them no doubt grew up doing just that. What´s more: 43 percent feel the same way about 12-year-olds. They would like to criminalize all pre-teenagers playing outside on their own (and, I guess, arrest their no-good parents). Those are the results of a Reason/Rupe poll confirming that we have not only lost all confidence in our kids and our communities—we have lost all touch with reality.

Many kids are heading back to public school this week, and so begins fall and spring semesters. (Snip) But what happens when the school staff is equipped with a big list of employees, but not necessarily a big crop of teachers focused on your child? Tax dollars in places you don’t know about. Even though the Obama Administration proposes spending $25 billion specifically to “provide support for hundreds of thousands of education jobs” in order to “keep teachers in the classroom,” research by both Heritage andThe Fordham Institute reveal alarming numbers: only half of education jobs belong to teachers.

America has a deficit of workers. Willing workers. Capable workers. Skilled, or at least semi-skilled workers, who can do a job and do it well. There are at least one million jobs that go begging day after day if only employers could find workers to fill them. This probably seems hard-to-believe. After all, how can America have a worker shortage when we have about 18 million Americans who are unemployed or underemployed? When the real unemployment rate is 12 percent? (Snip) But there are also millions of unemployed Americans who don’t have the skill sets to match what employers are in need

Following the horrific ISIS beheading of an American journalist, James Foley, we are led to believe that the president is beginning to rethink the issue of terrorism, or so we gather from the comments of Ben Rhodes, his deputy national security advisor. When you see somebody killed in such a horrific way, that represents a terrorist attack,” [Ben Rhodes, the White House’s deputy national security advisor] said. “That represents a terrorist attack against our country and against an American citizen.” As is common with the garbled uncoordinated messaging of the administration, Rhodes´ characterization just makes it worse that Obama very publicly went

WASHINGTON – A Washington state-based gun rights group is steadily persuading cities and towns across the country to repeal local firearms regulations and give that power back to the states. The organization, the Second Amendment Foundation, is working to invalidate city ordinances by arguing that they´re in conflict with looser state regulations. So far, it seems to be working. The group says it´s been able to overturn more than 100 gun-related ordinances this way, most recently in Utah. “We’re going state by state, going through every single ordinance of every city and county in every state and finding where the

So why does it take a whopper of a story to get the media to pay attention? Burger King, as you know, is moving to buy the Canadian chain Tim Hortons, and this is more about dollars than doughnuts. The hamburger giant plans to move its headquarters to Canada, thereby slashing its Treasury tax bill. The White House doesn’t like it. Democrats don’t like it. The Republicans don’t like it. FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.— Former Republican Gov. Charlie Crist continued his political comeback Tuesday as Democratic voters selected him as their nominee to challenge Republican Gov. Rick Scott in Florida, one of four states where voters were choosing candidates for statewide office. Crist easily defeated former state Sen. Both have struggled with sagging approval ratings and run-ins with conservatives. “It’s a wonderful night,” Crist declared after accepting a concession call from Rich. Jerry Brown’s desk to ban California from displaying or selling the Confederate flag or objects with images of it. The state’s Legislature passed the bill nearly unanimously last week. Assemblyman Isadore Hall III, D-Compton, introduced the legislation after his mother discovered the Capitol gift shop sold a replica of Confederate money that contained a picture of the flag, according to the L.A. Times. The lone dissenting vote among the 67 cast was from former California GOP gubernatorial candidate Tim Donnelly of Twin Peaks. He argued

The American Sociological Association, the leading professional organization for American sociologists, is now granting its members much greater leeway in how to define their gender identities. The last two Republican candidates for president have been among the weakest GOP candidates in 50 years. Barack Obama presented Mitt Romney with a gift in 2012: A struggling economy, sluggish growth, a paucity of jobs, and a health care law that was extremely unpopular. In what should have been a landslide rejection of Obama´s policies, Romney flubbed it big time and allowed his opponent to define him - and Republicans - in the most unflattering way imaginable. You would have hoped that Romney would have retired from the public arena and kept a low profile as other losers have done in
