Dole: Cruz, Paul & Rubio
lack experience for 2016

The Hill [Washington, DC], by Mario Trujillo

Original Article

Former Sen. Bob Dole (R-Kan.) said a number of junior GOP senators considering a presidential run in 2016 do not yet have the experience — specifically naming Rand Paul (Ky.), Marco Rubio (Fla.) and Ted Cruz (Texas). The former 1996 GOP presidential candidate sounded particularly skeptical of Cruz in an interview this week with The Wichita Eagle. "A number of the younger members, first-termers like Rand Paul, Rubio and that extreme-right-wing guy, Ted Cruz — all running for president now. I don´t think they´ve got enough experience yet," Dole said. The 90-year-old former senator said, however, his main concern about 2016 is living

Comments:
Don´t you love how these political losers are the first to criticize one of their own. Dole said Cruz is "way out there" on the extremes of the party?? Really? Following the rule of law and the Constitution, wanting a smaller government, etc. is an extreme ideology? Amazing.

Ted Cruz has argued numerous cases at the US Supreme Court. He knows more about the Constitution than you do, Bob Dole, and he doesn´t sell out to K Street. Once you sacrificed for our Country, now you are willing to sell us out.

Thanks, pal. I´m sure that your comments were helpful - to the dems, the media, and anyone else looking to hurt the cause of conservatism in this country.

I wonder how Mr. Dole feels about President Obama´s experience? Did Obama have more or less experience than any of these men when he was elected?

The ruling class, both Republican and Democrat, are not to be trusted. They would rule, rather than serve.

Bob Dole is a good man, a great war hero, but wrong on this one.

Just look what "experienced" insider pols of both "big tent" parties, elected or not, have done to the country! That would include Nixon, Ford, Dole, both Bushes, and Romney on the GOP side; and Johnson, McGovern, Mondale, Clinton, and algore on the Dem side.

NerØbama is an exception that proves the rule.

Only the "inexperienced" outsiders Barry Goldwater and Ross Perot told it like it was and showed the way. Only "inexperienced" outsider Ronald Reagan made it happen despite his "experienced" advisers.

Bring on the new blood.

Perhaps you could explain how it is that one of the most inexperienced and incompetent presidents in modern history has managed to almost completely accomplish the ´fundamental transformation´ of the United States while ignoring the experienced heads in DC who seem to be at a loss as to what to do about it.

"That extreme-right-wing guy", Ted Cruz, is one of the best hopes we have of salvaging the damage that has been allowed to happen by some of the experienced ones.

I wish there would be follow-up questions in a situation like this. Some good follow-up questions for Dole would have been:

(1) Precisely what kind of "experience" does one need to run for president?

(2) What "experience" qualified Obama to run in 2008?

(3) How did your "experience" help you run in 1996 (you lost!)?

(4) Finally (and most important!): Do you still take Viagra? Does it work for you?

Dole may belong to another era, but he´s not entirely wrong. Any first term senator who is not a Democrat and who has never been a governor is going to be very vulnerable on the experience issue. It´s just the way it is. Pointing out the media´s double standard won´t do any good.

Just take the absurd lengths the Americans With Disabilities Act went to and Dole was hugely instrumental in that passing. More is always better with big government types like Dole and his rather oddly mis-figured wife.

When Dole ran for President I had to go pick up my wife at the Santa Maria, CA airport during his campaign. I saw this airplane land and taxi towards the gate. It said Bob Dole for President on the side.

I looked around and there were about 10 people there to greet the plane, and at that point I knew he was a sure loser. The plane parked and he got out and it was pitiful. No excitement, no nothing.

There were more people waiting for arrivals on the plane my wife was on. I do appreciate his solid service for our country in WW2, but as a politician he was called the tax collector for the Democrats. How far we have fallen.

I love all three of these guys but Dole is correct. They just do not have the executive experience that the job requires. Barry showed us how that turns out. I´ll probably get flamed for this post but its time to look at real experience and success in running a state. Someone like Gov. Walker of Wisconsin comes to mind. There have to be other qualified folks rather than first term senators. I live in Texas and voted for Ted Cruz. Also was the timekeeper at a forum with him and other candidates. He´s terrific but not qualified at this stage in his carrier to be president. Same goes for the other two.

“Honey, even a nitwit knows that when a president must hire out his real job to 32 czars, he was never CEO material.” --- Kyle-Anne Shiver.

Of course, this was about the buffoon currently squatting in OUR WH. But I´m sure we can agree that a fellow like Cruz, with his understanding of our Constitution and the way this administration and Congress have brutalized it, has the necessary core values and experience to handle the job of President. And, like any competent CEO, he will surround himself with the necessary talent to discharge the complex duties of head of state.

I am tired of the ones who have been hanging around Washington too long, or even just a short time, but are all over the TV every day.

In a speech urging his Senate colleagues to accept the thousands of unaccompanied minors crossing the border, Sen. Patrick Leahy reminded his colleagues of a time when the United States turned back Jews fleeing the Holocaust. “I also remind people of a time in the past around World War II where this country unwisely closed its borders to people who were fleeing the Holocaust in Germany,” Leahy said. “They came here, they were turned back, sent back, many of them to certain death in the death camps. That was a sorry part of our history.” Leahy urged Senators to move

The U.S. deported Honduran children as young as 1-1/2 years old on Monday in the first flight since President Obama pledged to speed up the process of sending back illegal immigrant minors from Central America. Fleeing violence and poverty, record numbers of children from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala have crossed into the United States over the past year, sparking intense debate about how to solve the problem. Monday´s flight from New Mexico to San Pedro Sula, the city with the highest murder rate in the world, returned 17 Honduran women, as well as 12 girls and nine boys, aged

The Obama administration quietly announced on Tuesday that it intends to change the way Americans learn about natural disasters and other major emergencies during radio and TV broadcasts, giving the president the ability to flip a switch and address the entire nation at once. The Emergency Alert System, the latest version of a program first established in 1951, blasts out emergency messages in the event of local weather emergencies, but can also be used to warn Americans about terror attacks and major natural disasters. [Snip] It can take up to 10 minutes for every radio, TV, cable and satellite provider to

In his message to the “Mexico/Holy See Colloquium on Migration and Development,” Pope Francis characterized the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants that have crossed the U.S. southern border as a product of globalization, suggesting that the phenomenon is happening worldwide. Francis proclaimed, “Despite the large influx of migrants present in all continents and in almost all countries, migration is still seen as an emergency, or as a circumstantial and sporadic fact, while instead it has now become a hallmark of our society and a challenge.” Emmer McCarthy for Vatican Radio said Francis expressed his concern for “the tens of thousands of

The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security. John McCain, an immigration hawk. Who knew? Mr. McCain, the highest-profile Republican of the U.S. Senate’s “Gang of Eight” that came up with amnesty as the solution to the immigration crisis — and it truly is a crisis — is finally taking a hard line against President Obama for his encouraging the tidal wave of illegal aliens swamping the southwestern border. “There has to be a halt to this,” Mr. McCain thundered Sunday on CNN. “That’s what we want, and the best way to do that is for planeloads of these young people to be returning to their country of origin

Contrary to what those who defend the right to own high-powered assault rifles believe, not all guns are created equal. Due to a combination of availability, portability and criminal usage the following five types of guns are the country's most dangerous. School Shootings: Widely Reported Tragedies Since 2000 - Using firearm trace data from the ATF, as well as FBI homicide records, we determined the types of guns most often recovered from crime scenes and/or used in murders. The numbers are stark: According to the FBI's 2012 Crime in the US data, nearly 70 percent of homicides for which the FBI received weapons data involved the use

It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks

Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has warned all of his colleagues in Congress that President Barack Obama’s new immigration strategy—his plans to legalize millions of illegal alien adults through executive power—could destroy America as we know it. “I write to inform you of a development that threatens the foundation of our constitutional Republic,” Sessions, Congress’s top immigration hawk, wrote in a letter that was hand-delivered to all 535 members of Congress on Monday and provided exclusively to Breitbart News. Sessions cites a recent report from the National Journal, in which reporter Major Garrett detailed how, despite the ongoing

Attorney General Eric Holder encouraged Americans not to forget race while working for justice and equality in their country. “As it stands, our society is not yet color blind -- nor should it be -- given the disparities that still afflict and divide us.” Holder explained, “We must be color brave, and we must never forget that all are made better and more prosperous if all are given equal opportunities.” Holder made his remarks during a speech at Howard University on Tuesday for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Civil Rights Act. “We must take into account not only the

WASHINGTON — It was an enduring image of his presidency: a chastened Bill Clinton walking his dog while wife Hillary keeps her distance as the family leaves town at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal — but it was all part of a contrived public-repentance campaign, according to a new book. With Bill on the skids and his wife’s future prospects on the line, it was necessary for the pubic to see the president being punished, said Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper in his new book, “Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.” “They understood that
