flag, brags about it on Instagram

Washington Times, by Douglas Ernst

A solider has infuriated the online military community by posting a picture of herself on Instagram hiding in her car to avoid saluting the flag during retreat ceremony, which signals the end of duty for the day. An Instagram picture of Pfc. Tariqka Sheffey has gone viral. Her post reads: “This is me laying back in my car hiding so I don’t have to salute the 1700 flag, KEEP ALL YOUR ‘THATS SO DISRESPECTFUL/HOWRUDE/ETC.’ COMMENTS TO YOURSELF cuz, right now, IDGAFFFF.” Pfc. Sheffey is a member of the 59th Quartermaster Company, 43rd Sustainment Brigade, at Fort Carson, Colo., post spokeswoman Dee McNutt

Comments:
She should be utterly and completely ashamed of herself. I imagine she is not going to enjoy the next month or so.

Too bad she couldn´t keep her rude, disrespectful comments to herself! I am rapidly becoming weary of all this in your face behavior from every corner. We have raised a generation of ungrateful brats!

Thanks #2, on base we routinely sprinted to get indoors when colors began. Of course, we didn´t advertise it. I remember one time getting chewed out, but it was common.

Does the service still have MPs? Also do they have a brig? Maybe she should sit in it for a while and think about what she did.

I bet there are thousands of troops in Afghanistan who would like to be indoors and warm right about now.
Shame on the lazy arses who dodge saluting the flag.
Send them to S. Korea in winter for permanent outdoor duties.

The name and the picture says it all.

I always thought it was seriously great to be outside and stop what ever one was doing to stand at attention and salute the flag until it was over. I had waves of feeling doing that which was showing the utmost respect for the flag and my Country.

Hiding in a car to avoid saluting the flag??? What BS people we have in our Armed Services now-a-days.

We have very large numbers of people who are in the services to serve our Country honorably. The miniscule numbers who dishonor us and our Country will forever be dishonored in return. What goes around, comes around.

It´ll be interesting to see how the chain of command handles this one as this episode has the potential to take on a life of its own as others try to exceed the behavior of this particular soldier.

If Mooch´s daughters were ever in the military, this is the way they would turn out. For after all this is a down right mean country, and I am sure she and her daughters are still not proud of it. Well Mooch and all you slackers in the military "Pick a Better Country" as the conservative black author and radio host Ken Hambiln wrote and said.

My biggest problem when the daily retreat ceremony began was trying to point toward the sound when saluting. I don´t ever remember anyone trying to avoid this call to honor our Flag.

I´m with #8. During my 5 1/2 year enlisted time, I retreat was observed most places I was, and some would try to "dodge" but most wouldn´t.

After commissioning, I didn´t spend much time on formal posts (SF). And the times I did...seems like on many posts, the custom had been discontinued. Or where retreat was played was so distant one couldn´t hear it.

As for this so-called "soldier"....Oh, to be a Commander again.

Private No Class Tariqka Sheffey is in the wrong army, methinks. She should be in B. Hussein Obama´s civilian army. Then she would have the joy of shooting some of that huge cache of hollow point ammunition at her real enemy - Americans.

I get what #2 is saying - I´d seen it happen on Navy bases back in my day.
But to BRAG about it?
The Navy used to have an event called a ´blanket party´ for people like this. Does the Army have something similar?

At flag ceremony Moochelle was seen mouthing the words to her social/democrat hubby "All this for a damn flag"? The democrat-media complex didn´t have a feeding frenzy like Christy and his supposed bridge retribution.

The enemy IS the Democrat-media fifthncolumn.

Reading my grand daughter´s common core literature book and is filled with no George Washington and Founding fathers or classic English writers except for Poe. Many minority writers and feminists. Vast left wing conspiracy and ingrained in white kids as well as minorities.

How they gonna keep these anarchists in line even after killing off all those older than 30? Breeding and teaching their own problems and lying to a generation that is growing and aging as soon to feel the IRS jackboots on their necks and obamacare on their barely working spoiled priviliged kid´s backs?

Becoming World Citizen´s as per goal and decrees of the first black president who also is half white-communist and half black-communist fathered and black communist poet mentored, they might catch on soon to what the real privileged folks knew. You are privileged just to have been born a citizen or accepted as one.

I didn´t. The rest of them ran when they announced first call to colors. I walked and then they played colors I stopped and turned to the flag and waited until it was over. Never bothered me in the least.
Too many have no legs to stand on, no arms with which to salute, no eyes to see the flag, no ears to hear the music, no mind to comprehend the meaning. So many have lost so much.
I didn´t think any less of those who ducked inside, but it just isn´t the way I operated.

In the time of my father´s service in the Army, 1939-45, back when the Army was non-diversified and had it´s mental act together, this sort of action by another troop would have been sorted out after lights out...to varying degrees of severity, but "It happens all the time" would not have been an acceptable defense.

President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. Mr. Cruz finds himself standing alone a lot these days. His response to the cold shoulders: "The establishment despised Ronald Reagan" before he became president, "but the people loved him." For the 43-year-old Republican, the Reagan name illuminates his political life´s

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter — who used her talk show platform in the last presidential election cycle to campaign hard for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney — has taken up the mantra once again, calling on Republicans to give the failed White House bidder another shot in 2016. She made the suggestion during a discussion on Sean Hannity’s radio show while speaking of her new book, “Never Trust a Liberal Over 3-Especially a Republican.” Ms. Coulter also addressed the question of Mr. Romney’s shortcomings by saying that his 2012 loss wasn’t entirely his fault. “I think too much blame, not only in this

Prominent Washington correspondents are accusing President Obama and his aides of knowingly stretching the truth on issues like the so-called women´s pay gap just to create controversy and keep issues -- and the president -- relevant. Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus kicked off the attack last week when she blasted as “demagoguery” the administration´s tactics during the pay gap debate. “The level of hyperbole -- actually, of demagoguery -- that Democrats have engaged in here is revolting,” she wrote. CBS White House Correspondent Major Garrett then weighed in this week in his National Journal
