‘Yond Cassius . . . er . . . Ted Cruz’
Washington Post, by Jennifer Rubin

Original Article

Conservatives have had it up to here (hand to top of forehead) with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.). Having barely recovered from the Cruz-induced shutdown and the calamitous backlash against Republicans, the GOP had to endure another episode of Cruzian grandstanding and the post-grandstanding trash talk. Mona Charen of National Review (stocked with many Cruz admirers) writes that it is “particularly galling to see that rather than train his fire at Obama and the liberal machine that cocoons him, Cruz has become a one-man wrecking ball against Republicans.” At issue was his stunt on the debt limit in which he denied the

Fellow conservatives - do not be deceived by the disheartening carping of the ruling class GOP. Listen to Mark Levin give a brief history of Reagan’s uphill battle in the first 10 min of the following recording (at bottom). George Will et al. viciously attacked Reagan back in the 70’s, tried to paint him as stupid, said he couldn’t win, said that he was too extremist, had groups of governors sign letters, just like Cruz is being attacked in this article.

What a man true hero President Reagan was. Stand strong and be valiant. We are fighting the wimpy, elitist, GOP ruling class. They detest us. This is not new. They are quite comfortable in their positions of power and like their easy life. And do not doubt that they will pull every dirty, under-handed trick they can devise to try and take out Cruz. They are losers – L O S E R S. Know what? It’s past time to root them out of their “peace-at-all-costs” comfort zone and replace them with some red blooded Americans.

"It is wrong to label him a McCarthyite, as some on the left do (for one thing, there were actual communists to worry about in the 1950s)."

I think that there are actual communists to worry about NOW or has the establishment not noticed that our country and our very freedoms are being "fundamentally transformed". There can be no more going along to get along. There is way too much at stake and I no longer trust the establishment Republicans. They can´t lead and they don´t win!

Rubin is a compulsive progressive lefty and R Est. shill who wouldn´t know a principled conservative from a box of rocks. She´s a Dewey/Rockefeller/Bush/Romney R, precisely the type of losers who have the GOP mired deep in its foxhole. She fits right in w/the rest of the infantile journos at the Wapo.

Dem. or RINO they all get hit, and that is what galls them. The republicans are no longer the republicans we knew of yesteryear. McCain, graham, flake, and on and on are what people call republicans. Well they ain´t.
Ted Cruz, lee of Utah and that sort are the leaders we want, not the mccains

Looks like the Old Guard Republicans are every bit afraid of Cruz as the Democrats are.

They would have a sound reason, and it is encouraging to me that Cruz´ popularity and strength is growing among whatever part of the Electorate that is paying attention these days.

And furthermore, I submit that many, many more people are following politics this year than they ever have before this early in a midterm election year.

Ted Cruz is trying to protect us from a totalitarian state and the end of America. Notice it was Ted Cruz who sent the letter to the FBI requesting information about the Dinesh D´Souza inquisition, not McCain or his sidekick Graham. I say "Bravo, Ted Cruz."

FTA: But really, the best Republicans can do is ignore him and support mainstream and responsible candidates. They can reject the grab-bag of flaky and unqualified candidates who would emulate Cruz...

Once again Cruz has struck a nerve with the establishment Republicans. If she had bothered to do any research she would have found out that indeed there was "trickery" involved with that Senate vote on the debt ceiling and it wasn´t Cruz that did it. To paint Cruz as "a two-bit operator for whom ambition crushes principle" and that "it’s a farce to have him as a vice chair on the National Senate Republican Committee" is grossly unfair. I remember distinctly when Cruz first came to Washington and he said people were aghast that he actually said and did what he said he would do when he got to there. How refreshing and highly unusual for those in Washington!

I completely agree with #1. I heard Mark discuss how difficult Reagan had it in fighting people just like Rubin. It was a truly inspiring segment. Ted Cruz and Mike Lee have more intelligence and integrity than Rubin would ever hope to have.

FTA: thereby forcing responsible Republicans (not he, who remains purer than the driven snow!) to provide votes to reach cloture.

He didn´t force any votes for the measure. If Republicans didn´t want Obama to have a book of blank checks, all they needed was 41 of their 45 vote caucus. Until McConnell and Cornyn crumbled, fear of being the culprit had limited GOP defections to 3 for over an hour. The Spenders deserve their shame for giving Obama the check book and then pretending to refuse to give it to him in a show vote only moments later.

The Florida gathering had about 2,000 at the dinner----normally the organizers said they usually had about 500 people. Darn, Cruz is really disliked in Florida with SO MANY showing up to protest him at $500 a whop.

Just listened to Mark Levin and WOW! - to hear the anti-Reagan sentiments of Geo. Will, now repeated verbatim against Cruz. I was so young when Reagan ran against Ford; there was no L.com, I only got radio/tv news and a small town paper and could not figure out what Reagan was doing or why. It all makes so much sense now.

The Establishment Elites have changed - they have become even more grounded in Statism. They are more shrill and hateful and spiteful towards Conservatives. We see them here, and I am glad they are here to remind us everyday of the dual fight we have to battle Dem/Progs and Rep/Prog lites.

Hearing Mark gives me hope that we can do with Cruz what we did with Ronald Reagan. Both decent men, more intellectually gifted than the talking horse heads of the GOP & Friends, and infinitely more committed to the Constitution. Thanks, OP for reminding us who you are and what you stand for - and against. And a million thanks to Poster #1 for the link. What a tonic!

Ted Cruz is exposing the sick politics of the Senate members. Why would any taxpayer applaud the methods these club members use to put one over on us? Don´t you see you are being played as the fool? I am not going to put up with that arrogance anymore and neither should any person who pays their salaries.

Thank you Ted Cruz for showing us how far we have strayed from our founders designs for our great nation. Those GOP elite, (and we know who they are as they covered for Cornyn and McConnell on the cloture vote), should hang their heads in shame. #22. Ramona alluded to something that conservatives should never, ever forget.
In 1964, the est. cabal of Nelson Rockefeller, Bill Scranton and George (the Brainwashed) Romney actively campaigned against Barry Goldwater guaranteeing his lopsided defeat by LBJ. Further, in 1980, all the Bushes actively opposed Ronald Reagan. The hallmark of the progressive left republican gang is their contempt for and vindictive disloyalty toward conservatives of principle. Remember that the next time the usual gaggle of thin skinned rhino posters are foaming at the mouth over some slight, real or imagined!

Great posts--should be required reading. As other posters pointed out, George Will, the Bushes, and other "Republicans" worked hard to destroy the best conservatives in this great land. And their poisonous rhetoric in recent times is targeting Palin, Cruz, and whoever the next heroic conservative is that rises to the top.

Rubin is one of the nastiest and there are many like her who spend most of their time attacking conservatives and then acting like they are the reason we´re not winning elections, when in reality it´s the other way round.

My eyes have been opened the last few years. I used to trust Rubin, Noonan, Frum, and yes, the Bushes. I voted for them both--twice. Then they bullied good conservatives who worked their way up the ladder without any of the privileges that the Bushes and Romneys enjoyed. Would the Bushes and Romneys be where they are if not for their family´s money and power? We don´t know the answer to that. But Cruz and Palin--we know the answer, don´t we? They are the real deal.

My money and my votes no longer belong to so-called Republicans who destoy, mock, and assist the Left in their malice against conservatives.

When enough conservative voters starve the mockers of the only two things they want from us, our money and our votes, that is when the tide will turn.

A few things folks. First the WAPO is one of the most useless rags in the country. I wouldn´t even let my dog do his business on that fish wrap. Second Jennifer Rubin is such a moron that she wouldn´t know a real conservative if he or she smacked her across her hack face. Once in a lifetime there comes an individual to DC that both the Dems and RINOs hate with a passion. It was Reagan and now its the esteemed Senator from the great state of Texas. Senator Cruz is very intelligent and can talk circles around the DC pinheads from both sides of the isle. He generates sheer hatred in idiots like Shummer, Durbin, and Boxer while formenting jealousy in the likes of spineless RINOs like McCain, Graham, Ayotte and King. The latter has not been too kind with his childish comments. Like I said before Rubin is nothing but a RINO hack who isn´t fit to be in the same room as an man like Cruz just like they were never fit to tie Reagan´s shoes.

The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. After presenting at the Academy Awards this year, Kim Novak didn’t want to leave her house. The Hitchcock screen siren, 81, was too humiliated to venture from her home near the Rogue River in Oregon. She read the cruel posts and Internet snark about her appearance, and it was just too much. “It got to me like it gets kids and teenagers,” she told the Associated Press. The “Vertigo” actress, considered one of the great beauties in her day, posted a note on her Facebook wall Thursday, acknowledging that she’d gotten fat injections in her face and addressing her halted

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The

It’s the stuff of Westerns: a showdown on the desert plains, the big bad government against an underdog farmer. Though the story has only grabbed national headlines in the past several days, rancher Cliven Bundy has illegally grazed cattle on the Nevada land surrounding his farm for over 20 years. He hasn’t paid grazing fees since 1993, and refuses to renew the necessary grazing permit.(Snip)Rather than using the avenues and pathways presented to him, Bundy has staunchly declared his own law and allegiances. Unfortunately, reality doesn’t work this way. If only it did—we could rebel for paying stupid taxes, refuse to

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

First, the good news: We are close enough to the end of the Obama presidency for his crowd to talk about a presidential library. Now, the bad news: Obama´s retirement is still 1,008 days distant. Plenty of time though to round up the dough to build it somewhere. Figure they need Solyndra-style money, at least $500 million. The last two presidents – Bill Clinton and George W. Bush -- built their legacy edifices totally with private money. [Snip] However, Obama supporters have a different take. They think taxpayers should put up $100 million in public money for Obama´s library.

Less than 16 hours after Chelsea Clinton announced she was pregnant, a lot of major news outlets started staring into the crystal ball of Chelsea’s womb, wondering what this currently floating zygotic multicellular being meant for the prospects of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, which is also a floating, zygotic, multicellular being. Their answer: The immaculately conceived Clinton child could mean everything. And no, it’s not just the fact that having a grandchild could be personally fulfilling to Hillary and Bill (mazel tov, by the way), or that a cute baby would be a sweet cherry on top of Hillary’s already

The first step is admitting… It was a simple question to someone accustomed to much tougher ones: What was her proudest achievement as secretary of state? But for a moment, Hillary Rodham Clinton, appearing recently before a friendly audience at a women’s forum in Manhattan, seemed flustered.(Snip)So…no definitive successes and some clear-cut failures. And that’s the generous New York Times assessment. The Democrat fantasy story about Mrs. Clinton paints her as strong and accomplished on her own. In reality, this is a woman who is professionally defined almost entirely by two men in her life, both of whom happen to have

Remember when Lois Lerner, in answering a planted question at an American Bar Association conference, admitted the IRS had targeted conservative groups but tried to pass it off as the work of rogue agents — “our line people in Cincinnati”? Today we know there were indeed federal agents involved. But they weren’t rogue, and they weren’t confined to IRS workers in Cincinnati. Thanks to a Freedom of Information request by Judicial Watch, we now have an e-mail Lerner sent to colleagues noting the Department of Justice was looking into criminal prosecutions of these tax-exempt groups. We know something else, too. These investigations
