Cruz Aims at His Own Side -- Again
Creators Syndicate, by Mona Charen

Original Article

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, may be the brightest light to adorn the Republican Party in many years. He knows how to make the case for conservative ideas, pointing, for example, to the contrasting fates of Detroit and Houston to illustrate the superiority of conservative policies. So it´s particularly galling to see that rather than train his fire at President Barack Obama and the liberal machine that cocoons him, Cruz has become a one-man wrecking ball against Republicans. His most recent foray into sabotaging his colleagues concerned the debt limit increase. Because Speaker John Boehner sent over a "clean" debt limit bill,

Does anyone understand Cruz´s tactic? Is there a goal beyond fundraising?

Why even have a debt ceiling if you are going to give the Democrats whatever spending level they want? The GOP has no fight in it. So if you try to stop the spending in DC you are now the enemy? Senate Cruz is doing exactly what we Texans wanted him to do - we´re Taxed Enough Already. So Mona if you don´t like what Senator Cruz is doing then take us Texans to task because we voted for him and support him. A lot of Republican Senators like John Cornyn say they are against all the spending but work with the Democrats to get them a clean spending bill then vote against it. The very next day they send out a press release telling how they voted against the increased spending while all the time helping the Democrats get the spending level they want. Hypocrites? I think so maybe Mona doesn´t.

Those who do not like Ted Cruz and what he says are trying so hard to shut him down.

Like a modern day ´John the baptist" he is attempting to "prepare the way" against a corrupt and out of touch leadership of the so-called "conservative" national party.

The lyrics to the old Gaither Band song "a Few Good Men" come to mind:

"He doesn´t need an Orator who knows what just to say;
He doesn´t need authorities to reason Him away;
He doesn´t need an army to guarantee a win;
He just needs a Few Good Men.

Men full of Compassion, who Laugh & Love & Cry-
Men who´ll face Eternity & aren´t afraid to die-
Men who´ll fight for Freedom & Honor once again-
He just needs a Few Good Men.

Charen used to display a bit of common sense in her articles, but apparently that is no longer the case. Fine if she is a 1%er, likes what this administration is shoving down all throats with obamacare and with the help of "his" Dems putting the country in a situation when it´s spiraling down rapidly.

Are individuals so lacking in character these days they would rather demean an individual for a true and honest assessment of the games being played in elected office?

When Boehner, McCain and McConnell all attacked Cruz publically, they chose to start a war with the conservatives in the party. I like Mona Charen, but she is off base here. When spineless Boehner, McCain and McConnell can only be tough against their own side, then Ted Cruz has every right (and responsibility) to challenge them publically and show them for the democrats they are.

Where is the evidence that they have a winning political strategy? Certainly not in performance. Given the lack of evidence I will stick with the principled guy.

Okay. I read the article. Here´s a representative sentence: "The job of the Republican Party until 2016 is to limit the damage that Obama can inflict on the nation and the world."

Really? Really? Nothing about articulating a view of the world that involves initiative and freedom from government restrictions? Nothing about encouraging people who are getting married, raising their kids responsibly and reaching out to help others in an individual way?

Keep it up, Senator Cruz. You have a vision of the future that focuses on values and not on big government. The eyes of Texas are upon you, and are shining with pride.

He is succeeding, step by step.

Interesting. When John McCain attacks his own party from the left, he is celebrated as a maverick and rewarded with essentially a media endorsement of his campaign for GOP presidential nominee. When Cruz attacks his own party from the right, he is branded a traitor to the party.

When you are guided by principles you don´t give a free pass to anyone. The patriots aligned with our constitution have two paths, a third party (really a second) or to win back the GOP to use as a means of wining back the country from the communists, fascists, statists masquerading as the democrat party.

So just where shall we start Ms. Charen? Seems to me that the way the GOP slipped away to begin with was our unwillingness to differentiate the platform from an ever leftward drift following the democrat to the populist notions that other greedy folks owe us stuff.

As for the third party approach; Ross Perot, need I say more? I do suppose there could come a point to abandon the Whigs and form the Republican party. Let´s hope we are that close to those circumstances.

And Ted Cruz´s "side" attacks him -- again. All it takes to get some folks on side with debt raising and Obamacare funding is to have Ted Cruz speak out against them. This is not about good policy or winning strategies. It´s about attacking conservatives like Palin and Cruz in order to minimize their influence. It´s about protecting a bunch of GOP machine politicians from responsibility for betraying conservative principles and collaborating with Democrats to destroy our country. Their talking points and arguments shift constantly but the constant is this: They say they support conservatism in theory, but they don´t support conservatives in practice. They won´t fight, and they never win. They are the folks who brought you Romney 2012 and brought Obama four more years.

I don´t know what "side" Cruz is aiming at. I do know what side Ted Cruz is on because I am on it too.

Moderates really have a problem with Conservatives. The only thing they like about us is our vote for their guy. Moderates ambition in life is to slow down the Democrats and Socialism. Conservatives goals are to end Socialism. period. The GOP held all branches of Government under Bush, for a time, and look what happened. Electing Moderates is not the answer. That has been proven time and time again. All it does is keep the Moderates in control of the GOP and frankly, I think that is all they really care about.

After a lengthy study of the plans for the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, the U.S. State Department issued an 11-volume report back in January confirming what most experts had already concluded long before then: the vital project would not damage the environment or increase the rate of carbon pollution. But liberal activists weren’t happy and have used the 90-day automatic review process that followed that report to furiously lobby the administration to stop the construction of the 1,700-mile pipeline from Alberta to the Gulf Coast refineries. The key player in that effort was Tom Steyer, the billionaire environmental

With little fanfare, Vermont is preparing to become the first state to implement a single-payer, government-run health-care system. The Vermont plan, if implemented, would abolish private health insurance in the state and replace it with a taxpayer-funded system under which the state government directly pays doctors and hospitals. Of course the state is having a bit of trouble figuring out how to pay for the program’s estimated $2 billion price tag, considering that the entire state government’s operating budget is currently just $2.7 billion. Currently under consideration is an increase in the state sales tax from 6.9% to 29%. At

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco, President Barack Obama’s assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, insisted that American parents must be vigilant because their “confrontational” children could be on the verge of becoming terrorists. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings. Interestingly, the Harvard grad failed to mention the religion or the motive of brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. Mr. Cruz finds himself standing alone a lot these days. His response to the cold shoulders: "The establishment despised Ronald Reagan" before he became president, "but the people loved him." For the 43-year-old Republican, the Reagan name illuminates his political life´s

Prominent Washington correspondents are accusing President Obama and his aides of knowingly stretching the truth on issues like the so-called women´s pay gap just to create controversy and keep issues -- and the president -- relevant. Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus kicked off the attack last week when she blasted as “demagoguery” the administration´s tactics during the pay gap debate. “The level of hyperbole -- actually, of demagoguery -- that Democrats have engaged in here is revolting,” she wrote. CBS White House Correspondent Major Garrett then weighed in this week in his National Journal

The Clintons had a busy night of celebrations after Chelsea announced she and husband Marc Mezvinsky are expecting a baby. Bill joined “House of Cards” star Kevin Spacey at the Revlon Rainforest Fund Benefit Concert at Carnegie Hall Thursday, joking of Spacey’s Machiavellian character, “When I was president people accused me of murder all the time, made a show of investigating. Spacey’s president for 15 minutes and he gets away with murder.” Spacey, who sang during the event with Sting, Stephen Stills and James Taylor, also showed off his Johnny Carson impression, taking a swipe at the coverage of Flight

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Friday stood by his statement regarding embattled Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, saying on KSNV’s What’s Your Point?, “If anyone thinks by any figment of their imagination that what happened up there last week was just people rallying to somebody that was oppressed, 600 people came in armed. They had practiced. They had maneuvered.” Reid continued, “They knew what they were doing. They set up snipers in strategic locations with sniper rifles. They had assault weapons. They had automatic weapons. And they boasted about the fact that they put women and children, in fact one

If the Rev. John DeBonville could preach a sermon to lift the souls of churchgoers across America, his message would be simple: Stop dressing so tacky for church. DeBonville has heard about the “come as you are” approach to dressing down for Sunday service, but he says the Sabbath is getting too sloppy. When he scans the pews of churches, DeBonville sees rows of people dressed in their Sunday worst. They saunter into church in baggy shorts, flip-flop sandals, tennis shoes and grubby T-shirts. Some even slide into the pews carrying coffee in plastic foam containers as if they’re going to Starbucks. “It’s like
