Mitt Romney warns GOP not to
focus on Monica Lewinsky scandal

Washington Examiner, by Brian Hughes

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 2/17/2014 1:39:14 PM

Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Sunday warned his party not to highlight the Monica Lewinsky scandal when attacking possible Democratic White House frontrunner Hillary Clinton, saying to keep attention instead on Clinton´s record. "I don´t think Bill Clinton is as relevant as Hillary Clinton if she decides to run for president,” Romney said on NBC´s “Meet the Press,” adding that the former first lady “has her own record and her own vision." Some Republicans, particularly Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, have refocused attention on former President Bill Clinton for the Lewinsky scandal, saying Democrats can´t frame themselves as the champions

Comments:
So the word is out. By all means don´t criticize on that scandal. You would have to believe this is focused at Rand Paul.

No. I think Romney´s right. One of the reasons Clinton has gotten a pass on Lewinsky is because Americans think sex scandals are nothing. If the GOP had dared to go ahead with his communist China connections and waivers to our national secrets maybe it could have worked. Clinton was very clever to make the impeachment all about sex. The fact that he was treasonous was overlooked. The same thing will happen in 2016. Concentrate on Benghazi

Mr. Romney is a good guy. I wish he was President.

However, no one in their right mind takes political advice from him.

Here is a question- does anyone think the Romney...NEVER ATTACK PRESIDENT OBAMA, just sell my expertise...strategy was a good idea?

Nope.

And it should bother American´s that the man they elect to run this country would think that having his pants around his ankles in the Oval Office is perfectly normal. No, it´s not. Decorum? Respect for the office? Um....character? Morals? Seriously people....why should it be okay that Bill Clinton and those like him get a pass on their behavior? The ´oh it could be worse" phrase doesn´t cut it anymore. If his behavior reflects America, then what does that say? He nor his lovely (choke) clown pants bride did not represent me, none of the sleazy, moral depraved, scum in DC represent me. They do not know middle America, they do not know those they claim to represent. They are only in it for their own gain, their own needs and their own instant gratification...the one occupying the WH now proves that. I for one am tired of the lot of them getting a free pass for adultery, pedophilia, fraud, theft, misappropriation of funds, gluttonous parties on the tax payer dime, no accountability behavior. Really tired of it. And those that can put a stop to it and choose not to but claim the moral high ground are just like them....Boehner, McConnell...are a bigger part of the problem...

All the piles of money bags Mitt Romney was born with; a powerful political father who showed him all the ropes; every privilege and connection money can buy; the force of the GOP establishment machine behind him; the next-in-line trajectory that has popped many into the White House; the annointment by Barbara Bush; practical endorsements by Gore, Carter, and Soros (youtube all three if you don´t believe me); attacking fellow Republicans but hands-off Democrats, an opponent with failed policies,

and Romney still couldn´t pull it off. Romney pops up again just in time to run yet again. We weren´t interested the first several times he ran.

Keep telling the truth, Rand Paul. Yes, have a positive agenda for America. But keep telling the truth about the Clintons. The USA has lost all moral bearings when the Clintons can walk around in public free and easy, soaking up accolades from millions of people while the powerless women Bill and Hillary used and threw in the rubbish bin are forever destroyed. They have no remorse or the grace to be ashamed for what they´ve done.

THIS IS THE SAME ADVICE WE GOT ABOUT OBAMA; don´t dwell on his socialist, drug taking and love of Reverend Wright past. That sure paid off for the opposition party didn´t it. Now they recommend that we do this again with Hillary; just white wash her past and let the Democrats spout the fantasy of her career as Senator and Sec State.

Look, however swinish Clinton´s behavior was--and it was plenty swinish--it didn´t hurt him then, and it´s not going to hurt him 20 years later.

But more to the point, every time the Lewinsky matter has been raised, Hillary´s poll numbers go up. UP. She gets a big sympathy vote. Harping on her husband´s infidelities can only help her.

Drop it, and concentrate on Hillary´s multitudinous failings, not those of her husband.

I am so sick of people setting limits for conservative candidates: don´t mention Monica; favor immigration reform and amnesty; stay away from family first issues. Whilst the democrats are running this country into the ground. Their motives or morals are never questioned. No one ever tells them to avoid issues. Their goals and aspirations are always above questioning. Their track record is the stimulus package, Obamacare, losing Iraq, Benghazi deaths, etc. No one holds them accountable, not even our presidential candidates. We need real opposition, no rules and no Bushes or Romneys!

I tend to agree on Lewinski. It was consensual and the public hasn´t absorbed the fact that it was really about perjury, not adultery.

But...IMO, the Paula Jones, Kathleen WIlley and Juanita Broaddrick show a pattern of sexually predatory behavior. Hillary was the point man in Bill´s "nuts & sluts" defamation of these women who were harassed and assaulted by her husband.

They are the real life version of "House of Cards". A pop culture reference people could get behind.

The "Lewinsky" scandal?? I beg to differ. It was and should be the "Clinton scandal". Monica Lewinsky was an unworldly immature 20 year old, barely out of her teens, who thought she was in love with the President of the United States. She can and should be forgiven. Mr. William Jefferson Clinton was a 50something sexual predator...PERIOD! He deserves all the badmouthing he gets!!

I suspect that the posters, who don´t like Romney, are all for saying our candidates should go after Hillary on the scandal full force and continue to knock anything Romney says, even if he said he wants Palin to run and win the presidency. Fine, but continuing to call him "loser" and sit down and shut up is 4th grade posting.

They just discussed this on The Five and everyone agreed with Romney. I guess they are all rinos, huh?

Let Rand Paul keep talking about this. I don´t believe it will help him get the nomination and win the presidency. The public didn´t care years ago and they don´t care now.

Yes, Billy Clinton is a predator, a perjurer. Hillary Clinton is was and is an abettor and enabler. As a team they have shaky morals and it´s all on record. Of course it´s been 20 years so the unborn and children of that time probably don´t have a clue and the press have no intention of enlightening them or reminding the short memory adults of the time.

BTW: Usually it is the press bringing up the subject and Rand Paul gives them what they want, an opinion on Slick Willy´s morals (in defense of his wife´s comment a while back).

National security should serve policy objectives. It should not be a victim of political correctness. Politics should be kept especially far away from the practice of intelligence. Today´s decision by the NYPD to close the unit that was mapping Muslim communities in New York is very likely a product of political pressure. It is a decision that will make the city targeted in the largest terrorist attack in modern history less safe. How do you ensure that you won’t be ostracized, denounced, or fired if you are a media celebrity, captain of industry, or high public official? For some, sexist banter is certainly no problem. Stand-up comedian Bill Maher called Sarah Palin a c–t and a tw-t, but suffered no ill consequences. David Letterman joked on air that Sarah Palin’s 14-year-old daughter had had sex with Alex Rodriguez during a New York Yankees game. There was no downside to that either. But the man who once dreamed of being a transformative leader in the Reagan mold is inspiring few of those young people to follow his lead. "For all the talk about the movement that elected Mr. Obama, the more notable movement of Obama supporters has been away from politics. It appears that few of the young people who voted

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Megyn Kelly’s "Kelly File" is a great news show. She’s incisive, informed and customarily handles the toughest guest with aplomb. But her lengthy interview of Facebook C.O.O. Sheryl Sandberg about her second book in the Lean In series Lean In: For Graduates was a head shaker. Amazing that she of all people allowed Sandberg to restring the same old, same old, shamed, and shopworn feminist myths about women and girls and then jangle it in front of her viewing audience like something new out of the box. Indeed Kelly all but genuflected in front of this woman. Kept her on thru

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Less than a minute into his speech at the Boston marathon bombing memorial on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden went tragically off script and told the crowd of Boston bombing survivors that "it was worth it." After expressing how impressed he was with the tribute, he said somberly, "let me say to those ´quote survivors,´ my God, you have survived and you have soared. It was worth it. I mean this sincerely - just to hear each of you speak. You´re truly, truly inspiring." The audience sat in stunned silence until Biden declared, "I´ve never heard anything so beautiful than

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

Hank Aaron’s recent comments about the need for America to realize that racism is still very much alive and thriving — only now due to those who wear “neckties and starched shirts” rather than KKK hoods — has sparked an angry backlash and many fans are turning the tables, calling the baseball legend himself a racist. “Hank Aaron is a s*****g piece of [expletive] [racial slur],” one man said in an email to the Atlanta Braves’ front office, one of the teams Mr. Aaron used to play for, CBS News reported. “My old man instilled in my mind from a

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

Western Washington University sent a questionnaire to students asking them for advice on how the administration could succeed at making sure that in future years, “we are not as white as we are today.” The question notes that WWU’s racial make up does not perfectly reflect the nation at large, and asks students to consider strategies that other universities have used to focus on skin color as the paramount indicator of a student-applicant’s worth. The president of WWU has stated that his explicit goal is to reduce the white population on campus, according to Campus Reform. “I’ve said before and I’ll say it

Funny question in the headline, yes? But since President Obama worries more about the threat of terrorists´ improvised nuclear device going off in a major American city than anything Russia can throw at us, I was wondering if the government had deigned to share with us citizens any tips for, you know, surviving something their own intelligence points to as the likeliest unlikely Black Swan event. Well, no. And yes. No — very few people in Washington, D.C., who work for the government have any idea what they would do if a 10-kiloton nuclear device exploded at the intersection of 16th and K

When President Obama needed a preacher to fulfill the closing prayer duties at the annual White House Easter Prayer Breakfast, he turned to none other than the Episcopal Church’s first openly gay bishop — who said he was as shocked as anyone at the appointment. The Right Rev. Gene Robinson said in a tweet, accompanied by a photo of Mr. Obama behind a podium at the event: “POTUS ‘preaches’ at the Easter prayer breakfast. Then, out of the blue, asks ME to close with prayer. OMG!” Newsmax said he also emphasized that the words he chose to close the breakfast
