Why Gays Have So Much
Influence on Our Culture

American Thinker, by Alicia Colon

Original Article

Posted By:Drive, 2/3/2014 8:42:47 AM

We´ve had the Gaymmys; we´ve had Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson suspended for expressing unfavorable comments about anal intercourse; HBO has a new series, Looking about three gay men looking for love. It seems as though just about every television show, whether comedy or drama now has a gay character as a regular. It´s not surprising that homosexuality has become mainstream in our culture because nearly everyone has a relative or friend who is gay and we have been deeply influenced by those words of Harvey Fierstein who said, "I just want to be loved. Is that so wrong?" What we

The author, almost as an aside, makes an important point about Christians dealing with homosexuals. We should not make our focus on converting homosexual urges to heterosexual urges. Rather, we should focus on encouraging those with homosexual urges to be chaste. Christians should not fall into the trap of thinking that it is necessary for people to act on their sexual urges, whether those urges are homosexual or heterosexual.

Gays have influence because they have aggressively and relentlessly targeted getting into positions of power (legislative, executive, and especially judicial, in addition to virtual control of the entire entertainment industry). And it isn´t fairness and acceptance that they pursue, but promotion and proselytizing.

Well, Alicia, but why do gays have so much influence on our culture? You pose the question but don´t answer it. They hide the less-attractive part of gayness, but we all do that with less-attractive attributes; it doesn´t explain why gays have so much influence on our culture.

Is it because they have a peculiar artistic excellence? or that something about gayness seems to contribute to vision in the arts? or that rejection by the larger culture somehow cultivates insights not generally available to heteros?

Guess I missed something.

One´s wish to be identified strictly by their sexual proclivities is a blot on civility.
What is the difference between a straight man and a gay man? Actually, none..both have the right to marry a woman, make a will and leave their estate to anyone, own a car and home etc.
Changing the culture to redefine marriage is not right. And destroys what marriage has been for centuries.

Stop saying ´gay´ when you mean homosexual!

They win every time you allow them to control the language and the conversation.

Gays have so much influence because they represent the latest opportunity for self-righteous liberals to display their "tolerance" and "caring" street creds.

For example, if you read the article about gay and bi-sexual young men using steroids at six times the rate of straight men, you´d see the explanation has to be, of course, that they want to stop the "bullying". Yeah, right. It can´t possibly be about attracting yet more partners.

The homosexual is a willing participant in rebellion. A rebellion that began at a particular age, according to the rebel itself. The rebellion has to do with God´s choice of gender for that person chosen in eternity past.
Rebellion in God´s creatures is nothing new. The finest among His first creation, the legions of Angels, rebelled against Him, claiming that he would, "become like the Most high God!" Ever since then, the way to man´s soul is through his prideful arrogance. Whether it was the woman in the garden being told she could possess the knowledge of God by eating of the fruit, thereby becoming better than her appointed authority, Adam, or to today´s homosexual ideology, which attracts the vulnerable victim through the trappings of wealth, social status, and power, the goal is the same, engagement in a spiral of arrogance.

Our nation has been marvelously blessed by God Almighty over centuries because we were a shining light of Christianity, Bible teaching, and Evangelical Missionary activity to a lost world. Today, homosexuals exist in every Congressional staff on Capital Hill, and even more in diverse bureaucracies around the government. They exert their "charming" influence over the elected Representatives who vote on bills which undermine the moral basis of our founding, leading to the degeneration of our society and the decline of our nation. God will not save us from our own bad choices. Homosexuals follow a trend of being lustfully attracted to power, possessions, money, influence, and more importantly, everlasting life. There´s nothing so mean as an "old queen."

In the Old Testament, homosexuality was a sin punishable by death, and in the New Testament the Apostle Paul makes it clear that God still regards it with disgust. Society should not accept gender rebels, much less "celebrate" their despicable sin.

I love Alicia Colon. She is one brave woman and a great writer and artist.

From birth, I have had many close gay friends, but have to say that the idea of celebrating someone because of what they do with their dangly parts is so adolescent it makes me squirm.

Perhaps we should have a parade down Fifth Avenue to celebrate toe-suckers or guys who love to have sex with really enormous women. They are people, too.

I don´t think this explains ´why gays have so much influence.´ The reason doesn´t just have to do with hedonism. Many of the cultural elite (often self-appointed members) are gay and they use their positions to advocate. Their goal is to enhance their own self-esteem and reinforce their wished-for normality.

Gays have influence because they are portrayed by leftists far and wide as a group of victims that must be championed.

No matter the long range cost to society.

Homosexuals are the new abortion.

Just a wedge with which to divide.

Homosexuals don´t have the financial, emotional, sheer physical energy diversion of raising a family. Their efforts, money, energy can be concentrated on other things. Sometimes these ´things´, as in the case of a Leonardo Da Vinci can become works of amazement. Many times not.

The abuse of language continues. Time was when "homosexual" meant "attracted to members of one´s own sex," and was applied to both men and women. Then "gay" achieved common currency as a synonym for "homosexual" -- one could refer correctly to "gay men" and "gay women."

However, gay women already had their own adjective: "lesbian." Toss into the mix the misunderstanding of "homo" as "man" (as opposed to "same"), and voilà: the generic adjective "gay" is now a noun meaning "male homosexual," as the counterpart to the adjective and noun "lesbian."

The q-word, however, remains non-sex-specific. At least for now.

The gay lobby has influence because it´s well organized and almost everyone has a friend who is gay. They´ve managed to bridge the gap between aggressive, jerky activists and people tend to see their friend that place instead. They´ve also snowed a lot of gay people into participating in what is essentially a Socialist, anti-Christian, anti-1st Amendment exercise. This is a lot like what the NAACP has done with people of color.

And, it all boils down to money. They pay for that influence and it´s been a good investment for them.

The question posed by the title is not answered. It seems that Alicia is preoccupied by learning that one of her Catholic male friends is a homosexual. Thus, the details about Courage and returning to the fold.

Let me, as an older (straight, I think) male who was "groomed" by homosexuals as a young man, try to explain it. [I´ve become less shy about my close encounters with "a walk on the wild side" as I learn that many of us have had similar experiences.]

Homosexuality tracks well with curiosity, which tracks well with intelligence (I´ve often said curiosity is the hallmark of intelligence). Both characteristics correlate highly with success, wealth and power. The rest can be explained by a common human desire: "Wouldn´t it be nice if everyone were like me?"

What really bothers me is that homosexuals DO have so much influence on our culture. I freaked out when I saw two of my granddaughters watching the Disney Channel at my house last weekend! Why should I help to "groom" them that lesbianism is an acceptable lifestyle, without negative consequences?

What galls me even more is the influence that the "Homosexual Industrial Complex" (thanx #24) has on R&D and government spending in this country. I offer AIDS cost/benefit analysis for the former and GWB spending more than $50 Billion of our tax dollars to treat AIDS in Africa for the latter.

Homo´s still the word gay like their trying to still the word Marriage! I knew a lady who´s name was Gay! When she introduced herself she felt compelled to add "but i´m not"! I felt it unfair she had to declare her sensuality to say her name! I see homos as spiteful and vindictive in pushing themselves on others and they see religion as their enemy!

The gay movement used the civil rights movement as their model to achieve legitimacy for a disturbing but well hidden lifestyle. The Democrats who had done so well politically championing the civil rights movement, glommed onto the new gay rights movement because the civil rights movement had already succeeded and so its impact on politics had waned. Now no one can disparage a lifestyle so harmful that, if it became widespread, it would pose a huge sociological and health danger to society as a whole. Of course if that happened it would just present the Democrats with another crisis to exploit a la Alynski.

Yes, #25.

The so-called "Lifestyle" is given the appearance of the chic, "Now", "Hip", cultured, of being superior artistically and intellectually.

If you don´t agree, why then, you´re a rube! You´re a neanderthal! You´re close-minded and bigoted.

Under pressure from the homosexual lobby, elected homosexuals won´t vote against their own interests... and they´d better not because if they are not "out" they´ll "be outed". This makes them extortionists.

Once in the open, it is no easier for them to make policy decisions for the General Welfare.

As with everything else, Truth is a disinfectant and it clears away the putrescence that had concealed reality.

People i know who got out of "The Lifestyle" have told me that the reality of life is insatiable sexual obsession. The idea of "monogamous" relationships is for the most part laughable (but not unheard of).

When AIDS was first being identified, before medical scientists knew what they were dealing with, there were enormous articles in the NYT (i wonder if their archives have been purged). Doctors reported the kinds of "conditions" they had to treat in homosexuals and repeatedly, in the same person. That was the first time i´d ever heard about notorious bath houses.

A very dear friend of ours is in a sort of remission in his struggle with HIV-AIDS. It is NOT good to sugarcoat this "lifestyle"... ever.

However, the entire pornography world is destructive and very, very costly in lives and fortunes and threatens civilization itself.

Throw legalizing pot into the mix and we have civilizational decline.

I´m old enough to remember when the liberals thought marriage was "just a piece of paper" and encouraged couples to simply live together instead. Now they say nothing about heterosexual marriage, but homosexual marriage is a MUST!

It is about health care benefits, social security, pensions, etc.., not about love, IMO.
Some other people that will really benefit from this are the divorce attorneys.

The left is always looking for new victim groups to bring into the fold. Homosexuals make a great addition because they can present themselves as sorry victim of society even as they have higher incomes than most groups and more cultural influence. Best of all for the left, homosexuals promote the belief that sex is just physical pleasure which everyone should experience in any way he likes, and there is no God-given meaning to marriage between a man and a woman. That is a message that millions are eager to hear because it means they can guiltlessly do what they want sexually. This is highly destructive to society, and to individuals, and the left loves that result because they get more followers from the wreckage -- the single mothers, the AIDS patients, the useless young people who never learned anything because they thought their main job in life was to have as much sex as possible, all dependent on government and likely to vote Democrat.

To watch, learn and understand the same sex community that has bravely come out of the closet, is a vital American experience. It is the understanding, acceptance and celebration of life. Endless, overboard propaganda, however, is another thing entirely.
The Homosexual Industrial Complex, like Washington´s
Lobbyist Corporate Industrial Complex, like the Communist´s Growth of Bigger Government Complex, like Brutal Killings and Anti Gun Complex, are abusive controlled, fraudulent mis-use of media and press.

If God is okey-dokey with the practice of homosexuality, then someone owes Sodom & Gomorrah a big apology.

To say "that´s they way they (gays)were made" is the same defense that an alcoholic could use, a bank robber or even a pedophile. (God made me want to rob banks! My genes made me a drunk! I just happen to love small children! Not my fault.) No, it´s a cross to be bared and a truly heavy one. Just like the desire to be gluttonous. Some people need food, some need sex. Self control is the real issue.

The agenda being pushed by radical gays is two fold, and it is not about "acceptance or tolerance". No ... most of us don´t really care what consenting adults do behind closed doors. The operative words are "adult" & "consenting". No ... the two real parts to the aggressive gay agenda are: 1) lowering the age of consent to puberty and 2) doing everything to destroy organized religion, specifically the Catholic Church as it has the most influence. Far left people join the cause because they hate the Church.

I won´t read all the posts because I know there will be a lot of comments I would rather not see on a conservative forum. But I want to say that #3 is almost there...and #13 is right on. But the whole issue is not so much that the homosexuals are running it--they aren´t. It is the leftist agenda to push this in an attempt to destabilize our society. I do believe that homosexuals deserve EQUAL (not special) treatment and should not be shunned or treated badly simply for being made differently. However, the leftists have been using these people to attack the basic fabric of our society. In the long run, it will hurt these people and the left doesn´t care what happens to them. Homosexuals will end up having a harsher backlash against them (which is already happening in many places--I already see people here losing patience with anyone who is gay simply because of the actions of the radical left and radical gays. I don´t want to see that happen and I don´t want to see the destruction of our society either. This is a difficult issue to straddle. Equality can be achieved and real tolerance too but not as long as the left pushes this in everyone´s faces through every means possible. The left´s ultimate goal is NOT equality, but rather it is about control. They want a socialist society and they want to be in power to reap the benefits from it.

#11 – Par excellence! From Genesis 19:5 through Revelation 22:14-15, Scripture is very clear about homosexuality.

Today’s sins may well exceed those that brought about The Great Flood of Noah’s time and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Medical practices are being used for abortions and surgical sex change procedures; worldwide communications glorify perversions like homosexuality and pornography; nations succumb to political correctness legislatively sanctioning same-sex marriages.

Man’s sin is God’s sorrow. “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7)

FTA: “The Catholic Church does not condone homosexual activity but it also does not condone any sexual activity outside marriage which it defines as a sacramental union between a man and a woman. The virtue of chastity is extremely difficult for anyone to practice in this hedonistic society but not an impossible goal if one considers the consequences of one´s actions.”

Chastity was the first victim of the sexual revolution that had to break down all morality to open the way for communism to infect our society. The radical homosexuals crave “normalcy” thinking it will somehow negate the physical and mental degradation that they suffer. They purposefully ignore God’s plan for fulfilling human relationships in favor of feeding their lust, a hunger that once given into can never be satiated. When they encounter the just consequences of their actions they are incapable of taking personal responsibility, and because they have become godless they project that responsibility onto those who uphold God’s law.

I know many homosexual and lesbian individuals and couples. I have only seen one lesbian couple that I would define as happy people. They also happen to be conservative in their politics, and readily admit that their lesbianism does not define who they are or is something that should be promoted in the wider society. They told me that coming out as “conservative” in San Francisco was harder and got more flak for them than announcing their lesbianism. For the most part I have found gender-neutral couples to be unhappy, unfulfilled, inherently lonely, and unsatisfied with life. They are, indeed, lost souls.

Because in the 1960s we had a counterculture revolution. God´s Word and Way was removed from public schools and man´s word and way began to replace it ("Free love" and "free to be you and me"). Right became wrong, good became evil, sex became love, etc.. We have a whole new set of "rights" according to the desires of man. We have made it "legal" to kill our babies in the womb, we´re working on making marriage "legal" between people of the same sex, and anything else that strikes the fancy of man to make legal is no longer encumbered by respect for the laws of God an His Will for us.

Homosexuals have so much influence on our culture because we have failed to live for God and teach our children to do the same.

The example of the bookstore mentioned in this column is a warning to every parent to educate themselves about the dangers their children face, no matter how disgusting and uncomfortable it may be for them. They can be sure their children will receive that education even if they do not. Our POTUS, who arrived in office with all sorts of homosexual rumors surrounding him, used his new power almost immediately to appoint homosexual activist, Kevin Jennings, as "Safe Schools Czar". The vileness of what Jennings represents and advocated for American school children is beyond sickening and alarming. It makes one wonder just how pervasive moral corruption is in our gov´t, and if that may be part of the reason so many remain silent in the face of blatant, destructive actions and abuse of power.

#42 - Excellent.

God uses the economy, war, and weather to discipline people. This country’s economy is in trouble; our nation is currently involved in military conflicts and facing a variety of other deadly possibilities domestically and internationally; weather around the world has brought disaster to many countries; and this nation has been experiencing unusual, frequent, and calamitous weather events these past five years. In 2013 weather disasters in the U.S. totaled $7,000,000,000. Consider that in terms of human life, dwellings, and food crops. America seems to have turned away from God. Has God abandoned America?

Let´s see, Gallup´s last survey of 170,000 people on the subject revealed that the LGBT community only made up approximately 3.5% of the U.S. population. Wow, never has so much acrimony, arguing, stupid legislation, and litigation been wasted on so few.

WASHINGTON — The mysterious American plane that landed at an airport in Tehran belongs to an overseas client, the bank that acts as a trustee for the plane confirmed on Friday. Scott Nielsen, an executive at the Bank of Utah, which according to FAA databases owns the plane, said that the executives had been trying to reach the real owners but “This is an overseas customer and they don’t operate under the same hours as we do.” Clients “can be an American they can not be one,” Nielsen said. “The service is used by all kinds of people for a

A lawyer who specializes in sex abuse cases says this week´s lawsuit against director Bryan Singer is but one of several Hollywood abuse cases that will come to light in the coming weeks. Today we learned of a suit against Bryan Singer, the director of the upcoming superhero sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past and a big Democratic donor, charging he drugged and sexually abused a 15-year-old boy back in 1999. Singer´s legal team denies the charges. Lawyer Jeff Herman, who is representing the plaintiff, cautions Wednesday´s suit isn´t an isolated incident. Herman works as a sexual abuse attorney who previously sued

One rainy morning this month, the man who thought he would be president boarded a train near his beach house in San Diego. He stepped off in Burbank, Calif., and caught a ride to a sound stage, where his on-again, off-again political consigliere, Mike Murphy, was waiting to shoot a commercial on a set that bore more than a passing resemblance to the Oval Office. Looking and sounding like a president out of central casting, he nailed his lines. The crew called him “one-take Romney,” and before he departed, they swarmed, extending arms around his shoulders and angling their iPhones for

ROME - Pope Francis washed the feet of 12 disabled and elderly people Thursday - women and non-Catholics among them - in a pre-Easter ritual designed to show his willingness to serve others like a "slave." Francis´ decision in 2013 to perform the Holy Thursday ritual on women and Muslim inmates at a juvenile detention center helped define his rule-breaking papacy just two weeks after his election. It riled traditionalist Catholics, who pointed to the Vatican´s own regulations that the ritual be performed only on men since Jesus´ 12 apostles were men.

What are the odds? I mean, Vladimir Putin does a call-in show and one guy who happens to get through—to ask a question in English—is Ed Snowden? That is one amazing coincidence—almost as amazing as those soldiers who mysteriously materialized in Crimea turning out to be Russian. In a few moments, Snowden became part of a Soviet-style propaganda machine, even though he clearly views himself as a public-spirited crusader. After Snowden leaked all those NSA documents to the Guardian and the Washington Post, which shared a Pulitzer Prize this week, he fled to Hong Kong and then to Moscow, which was more than happy

In Detroit´s unfolding saga, the only innocent victims are city residents. So if there is any case for a Motown bailout, it is to make the city more livable for them. However, that seems to be the main goal of neither the Democratic White House nor the state´s Republican governor -- both of whom have come up with nifty new schemes to shovel taxpayer largesse to city retirees. Just two weeks ago, Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr had been threatening to put a buzzsaw to the city´s $3.5 billion unfunded pension liabilities to lop off savings to “invest” in city services. Most voters think the White House is trying to cover-up what happened in Benghazi and want Congress to continue to investigate the administration’s handling of the attack on the U.S. consulate there that killed four Americans. That’s according to a Fox News poll released Thursday. Sixty percent of voters want lawmakers to keep investigating what happened in Benghazi. That’s down from 65 percent who felt that way in November, and a high of 73 percent in early June 2013.

President Obama today sought to make light of a stinging public rebuke from House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, who took the president to task for disparaging GOP lawmakers while seeking to make a deal on immigration reform. Obama, the No. 2 House leader said yesterday after a phone conversation with the president, should “stop his partisan messaging and begin to seriously work with Congress.” Hours before the president called Cantor, the White House had issued a statement in which Obama ripped House Republicans for favoring “extreme measures” and “seemingly preferring the status quo of a broken immigration system over meaningful reform.” “You’re always

As everyone knows, Brandeis publicly announced that they would award Ayaan Hirsi Ali an honorary doctorate--and then, under siege by nearly 30% of their professors, and by thousands of their own students, they publicly disinvited Hirsi Ali. This campaign was orchestrated by the Muslim Student Association and by the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), an organization which is the American face of Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. Someone sent author Naomi Wolf a copy of my latest article about this scandal: “Brandeis Feminists Fail the Historical Moment.” It was my response to Brandeis’s shameful dis-invitation of Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Secretary of State John Kerry evidently runs a tight ship, given the paucity of leaks that emerge from his office. So we know he is organized and disciplined. He is also an energetic risk-taker, jumping into high-wire negotiations with Iran, and forcing the Israelis and Palestinians to the negotiating table -- enterprises that could likely end in failure and ruin his reputation. This is a man with character. By contrast, his predecessor at State, Hillary Clinton, appeared to take few risks and has been accused of using the position of secretary of state merely to burnish her resume in preparation

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?
