Boehner Says Obama’s Plan to Go

ABC News, by Jeff Zeleny

House Speaker John Boehner today dismissed President Obama’s idea to increase minimum wage to federal contract workers, declaring: “It will effect absolutely no one.” An early look at the GOP’s response to the president’s plan to use more executive actions to bypass Congress was met by this blunt statement from Boehner, R-Ohio, over breakfast with network anchors and correspondents this morning . The speaker said the president ignores the Congress and Constitution at his own political peril if he hopes to go it alone. “If he tries to ignore this, he’s going to run into a brick wall,” Boehner said. “We have a

FTA: “If he tries to ignore this, he’s going to run into a brick wall,” Boehner said. “We have a Constitution. We’re not going to sit here and let the president trample all over us.”

And you have defended it so well up to this point? He´s been trampling the Constitution and your silly little power pocket since he took office--czars, Obamacare, etc.

If, as the OP said, Boehner ate his Wheaties, let´s see some teeth on the congressional dog. It´s for certain the Senate has been de-fanged. Ryan is joining the gang of 16? Democrats on immigration and budgeting. This congress needs to be overhauled!

Boehner says he only controls 1/2 of 1/3 of the government, so can´t do anything. My math is that the GOP controls the House, 1/3 of the government, and 100% of the spending, so could do something, if we had a speaker that would man up.

It’s not an early April Fool’s joke -- Business Insider has hired disgraced former NYC Congressman and mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner to write a weekly political column, starting Friday. Hunter Walker, Business Insider’s politics editor, published the announcement on Monday, after teasing the news on Twitter by announcing that “something wonderful is about to happen.” The folks at Business Insider are clearly aware of the built-in entertainment value of hiring the scandalized politician, who is best known for sending an explicit photo of himself to an online mistress on Twitter -- and initially denying the photo was his. When NASA astronauts were suiting up to go to space in the 1960s, they had to make a big decision before they explored the world above us: How large of a man are you? Getting it wrong could damage the mission. According to a former NASA life support system expert who helped construct space diapers, otherwise known as Maximum Absorbency Garment systems, each astronaut in the Gemini and Apollo programs had to wear a condom-type sheath with a hole at the end for urination inside their suits. In an interview on the Science Channel´s Moon Machines documentary series about early space travel, engineer

A new species of praying mantis, Liturgusa algorei, indigenous to the thick rain forests of Peru has been named after former vice president Al Gore; one of 19 new species of the insect recently identified by entomologist Gavin Svenson. The discoveries came after Svenson, curator of invertebrate zoology at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, decided to search through both old collections at museums and embark on field expeditions into the forests of Central and South America. Unlike the patient, zen-like praying mantis we´re all familiar with, these equatorial cousins take a decidedly different approach to both hunting and self-preservation. "This group,

President Obama, like most Kenyan politicians, loves beating about the bush and avoiding the real issue. In Kenya, we all know the big problem is corruption, but we are addressing virtually everything else but corruption. And so in America, our cousin President Obama dances around serious issues like the typical Kenyan he is. When Russia invaded Georgia in 2008, Obama thundered with indignation and a fulsome, righteous — and justified — anger. The people of Georgia thought he would follow through on his fiery words with real action to set their country free of Russia’s torment, but wapi! With Cousin Barry, as with

A few weeks ago, I wrote about how the sweeping acceptance of gay marriage in recent years is owed in large part to Christianity. Rejecting the rigidly hierarchical and stratified societies of the ancient world, Jesus Christ taught the equal dignity of all persons, proclaimed that the meek shall inherit the earth, and declared that the last shall be first and the first shall be last. The Western world has been working out the logic of these subversive teachings ever since, with the institutional transformation of marriage being the latest, though surely not the last, example of its social, moral,
