Six ways to fight inequality
CNN, by Julian Zelizer

Original Article

Posted By:Scottyboy, 1/27/2014 2:11:41 PM

When President Obama takes center stage for the State of the Union Address on Tuesday night, he is certain to address the issue of economic inequality. (snip) 1) Raise the minimum wage: Most important, the minimum wage has been central to the nation´s efforts to provide a base of support to working Americans. Since its enactment in 1938, the federal minimum wage has been integral to boosting the income of workers in some of the lower-paying jobs. But current minimum wage levels are not adequate. Most economists agree that there is room to increase the minimum wage without any dramatic impact on unemployment.

Comments:
Liberal drivel - Zelizer´s an absolute moron.

How ´bout this?
1) Stay in School
2) Don´t do drugs
3) Show up for work on time and impress your boss
4) Don´t have children out-of-wedlock
5) Obey the law
6) Adopt a conservative lifestyle

and 7) quit viewing wealth as zero sum. Do 1-6 on the above list and you will position yourself to create wealth. I couldn´t care less what someone else earns or their net worth as long as I have the opportunity to do the same. God save us from Princeton economists.

I have suggestion. Why don´t all of these progressives who believe in this equality / redistribution find 9 poor people and pool all their wealth together, then split it 10 ways. Problem solved, right?

More like the 6 ways government is doing now to cause more economic inequality so of course they are the only possible solutions CNN can think of. I suggest doing the opposite to all 6 if reducing economic inequality is actually the goal which it isn´t. Increasing dependency is the main goal of the Democrats.

1 - The minimum wage is $0. Always has been, always will.

2 - Studies show that Medicaid patients´ healthcare results are equivalent to those of the uninsured. Expanding Medicaid increases costs with no real gains.

3 - Inequality measures used by the left do not include government redistribution of income. So like Alice in Wonderland, the harder we redistribute wealth to lessen inequality, the worse the measures of inequality become.

4 - Adding incentives to hire the long-term unemployed incentivizes hiring the least qualified, least efficient workers.

5 - Close tax loopholes -- like the ACA individual mandate tax credit? Like solar power system and electric car credits?

6 - Yeah, let´s double down on affordable housing programs, because they worked so well last time.

In America, it used to be that excellence was rewarded. Individuals who studied and worked hard earned high wages, while the slugs earned less.
Merit raises were strived for.
Why would young people strive for excellence, if the gov´t is going to punish them by taking away their property (wages) to give to the slugs?

From the Senate floor to television advertisements across the country, Democrats are assailing Republicans for their alliance with billionaire industrialists Charles and David Koch. Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid has repeatedly questioned the brothers´ patriotism, accusing the GOP of suffering from an "addiction to Koch." A recent ad in Michigan, as in other places, features images of the Kochs with a grave warning that a GOP candidate seeks to aid the "wealthy and powerful." The coordinated strategy is designed to try and counteract the tens of millions of dollars in attack ads funded largely by the Kochs and their network of

Campaigners say the politician, the key challenger to Malaysia’s ruling party, was the victim of a long-running smear campaign and had faced trumped-up charges. By now it’s settled on most people, including Democrats, that the loss of Alex Sink to David Jolly in Florida’s 13th Congressional District was, in the words of the New York Times, “devastating” to Democrats. It’s a district Ms. Sink carried in her unsuccessful race for governor against Rick Scott, a district that Barack Obama carried in his two elections, and a district that demographically now favors Democrats. In addition, Ms. Sink raised more money and ran a better campaign than Jolly. Even Bill Clinton lent his efforts to her campaign. And yet she lost. What should particularly alarm Democrats is
