Obamacare enlists 3 MILLION Americans but
more young enrollees are needed to offset the
cost of older, sicker people under the plan

Reuters, by Staff

Original Article

The number of people enrolled in private health insurance under Obamacare has soared by more than one-third in recent weeks to around 3 million, according to government data released on Friday. Marilyn Tavenner, administrator of the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), announced the preliminary tally in a blog posting. She forecast that enrollment through new federal and state health insurance marketplaces would continue to grow in coming weeks as a public outreach campaign accelerates. The new data adds to evidence that President Barack Obama´s administration has turned the corner on enrollment after a botched October 1 launch.

While this article appears in the Daily Mail, please note it is a Reuters article. It is replete with blog quotes from the head of the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (formerly Donald Berwick´s deputy admin.).

Reuters also quotes (repeats?) a spokesnoid whom it describes as from "the Center for American Progress, a left-leaning think tank aligned with the Obama administration." One may presume that is a Reuters opinion and not a quote from DHHS.

Thanks, but I´ll wait for some serious analysis of enrollment, not some blog post or Reuters story that tries giving it legitimacy.

I heard a report early on that they were counting people who had signed onto the sight as having signed up. I do believe the numbers are misrepresented.

As of last week there were still no fixes to the vulnerability of personal data. Who in their right mind would put all their information into such a weak/hackable website?

How would anyone know? It will take an act of Congress to force the WH to release the results. Using logic it seems to me that the only ones rushing to sign up are the ones who are sick, get it for free or for cents on the dollar. The rest are the poor schlubs who had their policies canceled. For them it´s full fare. Only the threat of IRS swooping in will get the remainder to sign up. This is a nightmare.

It´s also the hos who want to have sex with anything and anyone, anytime and force others to PAY for their birth control and baby MURDERING that they enjoy so much. Has absolutely NOTHING to do with the old folks on MEDICARE. So stop LYING. Although, make no mistake, Obamacare will and this government will kill off everyone, sick, weak, mentally ill, elderly...you name it..........this gov will kill them all off. This is the same regime as HITLER......the same plan and it will happen.......THANK YOU LIBERALS...you helped this to happen. Thanks so much. The Liberals have innocent blood on their hands.

More than 5 million (current estimate of cancellations) will be cancelled in the coming months as this Obamacare disaster/train wreck picks up speed as employers and consumers begin adjusting. Of the 3 million sign ups (the regime´s fudged numbers) 80% - 90% have not paid - it´s called the "back-end problem".

This thing is tanking the economy on a slow roll (soon to be fast roll) basis as consumers/employers begin adjusting to the sticker shock of premiums and lack of health care. The debacle in the stock market last week is a foreshadowing of all of this. Pitchforks on the Mall in DC will be a mild response.

The only relationship that obamacare has to medicare is that the feds robbed billions of dollars from medicare to prop up their failure, thus weakening medicare considerably.

The fatal flaw that will kill obamacare and discourages young, healthy people from signing up is the rule of their own making, that you can´t be refused coverage and you don´t have to sign up until you actually get sick by simply paying a fine. Any young person who signs up earlier than he has to is terminally stupid.

Background - You technically haven´t paid until your money has reached the insurance company and the entire payment system still isn´t built. So enrollment numbers are at best administration guesses and at worst propaganda.

As of end of November enrollment was 1.2 million (perhaps 0.4 million in Oct, and 0.8 million in Nov. Dec added another million. So the 0.8 million added in Jan means the wave has crested. Maybe 0.4 million more before enrollment ends.

Older in this context has an upper limit of 65 because that is when Medicare kicks in. Medicare has been systematically shorted in the Obama years because the number of people with disabilities has grown exponentially.

I have to somewhat agree with #10. All of this talk about Medicare is false. The program that needs to be discussed is MEDICAID! Medicare is a program for the elderly. And you are automatically enrolled in it when you reach your 65th birthday. And you can´t opt out. Unless Congress changes the law, your in. Medicaid is a program for the poor that can´t afford a medical insurance plan. And a large percentage of Obozocare´s signups are new enrollees to Medicaid. And the overall majority of signups are those who are in desperate need of medical care, not the healthy younger generation. Now matter how the WH spins it, the program is headed for a massive train wreck. Some how, sometime, it has to be totally repealed, not "fixed".

How about the care of sick illegal immigrants coming here just for medical care and baby delivery ?

The Internal Revenue Service is considering a bold move to label perks like free lunch given to workers by companies as taxable. The agency wonders if freebies like haircuts and gym memberships are a way to compensate the highly skilled rather than just a way to jumpstart productivity. After all, argue proponents of such a tax, workers at Silicon Valley firms like Google and Facebook receive free meals from famously fancy in-house eateries every day. Some companies even go a step further by offering freebies like haircuts, car services, and child care. Typical workaday folks can expect to pay for all

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. The Right Rev. Gene Robinson said in a tweet, accompanied by a photo of Mr. Obama behind a podium at the event: “POTUS ‘preaches’ at the Easter prayer breakfast. Then, out of the blue, asks ME to close with prayer. OMG!” Newsmax said he also emphasized that the words he chose to close the breakfast
