Senior Staffers Strained

Roll Call (Washington, D.C.), by Hannah Hess

The recent changes to health care benefits are taking their toll on senior-level staff morale on Capitol Hill, according to a new survey. Nearly 4 in 10 chiefs of staff and district directors recently surveyed by the Congressional Management Foundation said they would likely be looking for a job outside the office within the next 12 months. “The elimination of staff’s traditional health care has been a complete disaster,” said one senior staffer, responding to the survey. “If you wanted a legislative branch run by K Street lobbyists and 25-year-old staffers, Mission Accomplished.” CMF President and CEO Bradford Fitch said the nonpartisan nonprofit

Most of the top staff people serving Congress can get better paying jobs ~ that´s one of the reasons they went to work there.

Most members of Congress are, of course, horse´s **ses in their workaday role as bosses, so rational people really don´t want to go there unless they intend a higher level career in some lobbying organization, or maybe they, themselves, want to run for Congress later on.

Whacking them when it came to their health care, over which they had no control in the first place, will drive out almost all of the intelligent staffers on the Hill.

You will get what you pay for.

Political hacks, the winos you imagined were already there, and assorted riff raff and grifters.

Next time take it out on the Congresscritters who vote for that stuff.

Washington – Continuing his push to use executive powers as a way of advancing his agenda, President Barack Obama will announce Thursday a new effort to help improve the lives of young African-American males. A White House official said the “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative would partner government with businesses to “make sure that every young man of color who is willing to work hard and lift himself up has an opportunity to get ahead and reach his full potential.” Young African-American men are unemployed at a higher rate than the population at large, and are more likely than peers of other races

Barack Obama was once a constitutional law professor, but now views the founding document as irrelevant. The president is ruling by decree, instead of working with a divided Congress. The Founding Fathers would be appalled by the way the current occupant of the White House has usurped power to get his agenda passed. There is nothing to restrain Mr. Obama, now a lame duck, from forcing his liberalism on America. For example, the White House declared Wednesday that it will not go through Congress to create regional “climate hubs” to deal with the supposed crisis of “climate change.” This comes

AS celebrity gossip goes, it takes some beating: actress and model Elizabeth Hurley has a year-long affair with Bill Clinton while he was US president. Throw in the suggestion that they had a liaison in the White House while Hillary Clinton was next door, and that Mr Clinton ended it when he realised he was falling in love, and you have a story that rivals Marilyn Monroe´s alleged fling with John F Kennedy. WASHINGTON -- A poll indicated Wednesday that if former U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton runs for president her biggest challenge could come from a more conservative Democrat. While the poll, conducted by CNN, finds Clinton an overwhelming favorite with 70 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independent voters saying they would support her if she mounts a second presidential bid in 2016, the split on the remaining Democrats is surprising. Conventional wisdom has held Clinton´s biggest liability in a potential primary is from the liberal wing of the party, where President Barack Obama found support to defeat her in their historic 2008 primary race. Americans watching the Affordable Care Act’s implementation are witnessing a government policy debacle that is as large as any in memory.
