Robert Gates: ‘I Agreed With

Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates told Face the Nation Sunday morning that he had no regrets about the timing or tone of his forthcoming memoir Duty, excerpts of which stirred up controversy in some quarters this week about President Barack Obama’s faith in his Afghanistan strategy. “With the experience and perspective of working for eight presidents and having been secretary for four-and-a-half years, I didn’t think that waiting until 2017 to weigh into these issues made any sense,” said Gates, who is recovering from a neck injury. While many have read the excerpts as critical of Obama’s foreign policy, Gates

Well, Gates, is your book for real or not? How can he utter these words when more of our soldiers died from this administration! Just what did Obama do right?

What a schizophrenic little toady this former "defense-dense-secretary" is. Sickening "writing" that takes both sides and serves no purpose but to enhance Gate´s pathetic legacy. IMHO, his written tripe will not sell to either Republicans OR demonrats. Don´t go away mad, Mr. Gates...just go away...please...

He is trying to sell his book. I don´t believe he ever considered quitting either.

Looks like Gates objects to the political sewer process that the Obama crew used to get to a Presidential decision, but that after the decision was made, that Gates was happy with it.

No matter, is is not right for a President to commit US troops to any foreign battlefield if he does not have confidence that their assigned mission will succeed, to believe otherwise is just throwing away their limbs and their lives for nothing, except possible to gain some sort of domestic political advantage.

Once it becomes common knowledge that the President does such a thing, not too many smart people will be joining the military, at least for the remainder of that President´s term in office.

Move over, “Animal House,” Hollywood’s got nothing on the federal government when it comes to buying booze. Federal spending records show the government spends seven-figures a year stocking its cabinets with wine, beer and liquor. In fiscal 2013, the last year for which there are complete records, the government spent almost $1.3 million on alcohol, more than quadruple the $315,000 spent in 2005. The spending on liquor has increased over the years toward the $1 million mark, with 2013’s tab growing more than $400,000 over 2012. “You could say that Washington’s quite literally drunk on other people’s money,” said Jonathan Bydlak,

A week later, and liberals are still lining up to assail Paul Ryan´s "racism." The episode is worth noting not because Mr. Ryan said anything wrong, but because of what it shows about the political habits of today´s elected and media left. The Wisconsin Congressman has been looking into the problem of upward economic mobility and how effective federal programs are in combatting poverty. Appearing on Bill Bennett´s radio program, Mr. Ryan observed that antipoverty assistance can often create "incentives not to work and to stay where you are, that´s not what we want in society. . . . Duh! Do you think? Oh, really? You don’t say! People use these snarky expressions when they want to suggest that something is so totally obvious that ten out of ten people will see it instantly. This is the famously bad reading method where kids have to memorize words as graphic designs, as shapes, as outlines. Decade after decade, Whole Word produced dreadful results. It’s the main reason we have 50 million functional illiterates. The presence of this obvious hoax

She has served as a personal designer for Peng since 2003 — a time when Peng, a singer, was far more famous in China than her husband, Xi Jinping, who was then just a provincial party head who would later become president. To do that effectively, one would actually have to maintain something of a consistent level of attention to the moving pieces that directly influence how future events will unfold. None other than the truly sycophantic thinks for a second that President Obama cares a whit for anything that does not involve fundamentally altering the social composition of this country. Or golf.
