Will UPS Christmas botch
make Obamacare critics shut up?

Los Angeles Times, by Michael Hiltzik

In a just world, all the people who have piled on to the federal government for blowing the launch of healthcare.gov would take a look at the UPS Christmas Day screwup and swallow hard. But it´s not a just world, so the lesson of how the nation´s leading parcel delivery service got blindsided by an excess of Internet traffic surely will be ignored. Alec MacGillis of The New Republic reminds us of all the finger-wagging by private sector triumphalists to the effect that, unlike the government´s health insurance enrollment system, commercial websites and services wouldn´t have been brought down by a

Non sequitur that the premise of this article is, it will probably confirm its target audience´s preferences.

The package backup was caused by a combination of two things: bad weather that delayed flights, and a last-minute flood of online orders... which the UPS web site handled without a "glitch."

I haven´t seen anyone mention the reason there was a surge in internet purchasing this Christmas. I suspect it was not just the shorter time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but also increased risks like from the "knock out game," non-existent border security, and increased violence including shootings at malls and elsewhere. The only thing the UPS/Fed Ex overload has to do with Obamacare is that people being less willing to leave their homes to shop is also Obama´s and the democrats´ fault. Hate-mongering and race-baiting has consequences that is affecting all Americans, not just the democrats´ political opponents.

If people were denied the ability to use any other package delivery service and were forced, under penalty of a fine, to use UPS at three times the price, maybe then the Obamacare cheerleaders might have a point (albeit a bad one).

Let´s see. On the one hand, your child´s Christmas present was delayed a day. On the other, your child no longer has healthcare. And the Los Angeles Times thinks those two problems are comparable.

I suggest that people stop reading the Los Angeles Times.

Geez.

Obama was elected on his promises, mainly Obamacare.
UPS people are not elected.

Obama deliberately lied about Obamacare and it was passed without being read by anyone.
UPS´ delay was not deliberate, nor did they make a contract with the American people.

Obamacare is thoroughly FUBAR´d through negligence, deception and incompetence.
UPS´ business is successful, money-making, and with rare exceptions, more than competent.

Obamacare isn´t wanted by the majority of Americans who are being forced into it.
UPS is a choice Americans have; they can go elsewhere for similar service if they so choose.

Obama care is killing Americans.
UPS was late two days delivering packages.

Is the writer serious, stupid or simply ignorant? We already know he cannot think critically.

#7 is on to something. The malls are getting too dangerous, too many stories of parking lot robberies and car jackings some resulting in murders, too many large groups of blacks at the mall which contribute to a reluctance of some white people being willing to expose them selves to such threats. I avoid places where there are large groups of blacks. I´m not racist but I´m over 65 and a ripe target for the "knock out" game which according to the msm doesn´t exist. UPS may have delivered packages a day late but obamacare may deliver just a pain pill or even an early death so it´s not quite the same but msm can´t understand or even acknowledge that fact.

If Healthcare.Gov missed by ONE OR TWO DAYS no one would be talking about it. Comparing that disaster to delivery services being overwhelmed for a day or two is ridiculous, as are many current articles. Healthcare.Com represents a failed Government program affecting millions of Americans, while the delivery service shortfall represents a gift being delivered a few days late for possibly thousands of people. A joke of a comparison.

This "news" story is a good example how the MSM is actually hoping the private sector will fail at something so they can try to cover up their absolute failure with Obamacare. Christmas delivery delays can happen and even indicates an over-success when business is too good for UPS and FedEx. All we get are lies and misdirection from the DemocRATS and their cheerleaders in the MSM.

You know it´s a lame article when the comments are far superior to the article:

With private companies you have a choice whether you want to do business with them. There is no choice with ObamaCare or virtually any other government program.

The delivery companies fixed the problem in 2 days. We´re still waiting for ObamaCare to be fixed 2 months later.

There were weather issues that affected the shipments. No such excuse for ObamaCare.

The administration knew the website would not be ready. They could have delayed the release, but they didn´t. The delivery companies can´t delay Christmas.

I called the phone number on my receipt....number disconnected. Then I called the USPS Customer Service number. that person could not help me, but they gave me the number of the post office in KY where my package is apparently behind a file cabinet or something. I was treated very courteously there by a gentleman who is going to look into this and call me back. That conversation was 12/30. I guess he is still looking into it. I am kicking myself for not using FedEx or UPS.

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you

Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote in her forthcoming book that she was “hurt” and “angry” by 2012 reporting on her fraudulent claim to Native American heritage. “What really threw me, though, were the constant attacks from the other side,” Warren wrote in her book “A Fighting Chance.” “I would almost persuade myself that I was starting to get the hang of full-throttle campaigning and then — bam! Out of left field, the state Republican Party, or the Brown campaign, or some blogger, would launch a rocket at me,” Warren wrote, adding, ”I was stunned by the attacks.” This reporter (blogger?) reported extensively

WASHINGTON — Former President Jimmy Carter joined fellow Nobel laureates Wednesday in opposing Keystone XL, insisting that approving the pipeline would trigger “more climate upheaval” around the globe. In an open letter to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, Carter and the nine other Nobel Peace Prize winners bluntly warned the leaders: “Your decision on the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline will define your climate legacy.” The missive, published as an advertisement in Politico, represents the first time Carter has taken a position on the $5.4 billion project and makes him the first former president to come

With Easter soon approaching, the Rev. Al Sharpton on Wednesday drew parallels between the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of President Obama’s political career. Joining the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” Mr. Sharpton said that his message for this Easter is that “no matter what the world may do to you unfairly, no matter how you’re crucified — nailed to the cross at home, or in your personal relationships, or on the job — that you can rise if you don’t lose yourself during the hard times and the challenges.” The reverend went on to say that Christ endured so much humiliation and unearned suffering leading up to his death,

FORT WORTH — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis will undergo neck surgery today, her campaign said Tuesday. “After experiencing shoulder and right arm pain in recent weeks, Sen. Davis, of Fort Worth, will undergo the outpatient surgery at the Fort Worth Brain and Spine Institute. Dr. Thomas Ellis will perform the

The cash infusion by the federal government is actually going to help the city pay pensions, even though they´re playing a kind of shell game with the money. As for "blight removal," perhaps they could start with city hall. Reuters: Michigan officials and President Barack Obama´s Administration are discussing a plan to free up $100 million in federal money to aid Detroit´s retired city workers, the Detroit Free Press reported on Tuesday. Citing two people familiar with the talks, the newspaper said the talks were centered around federal money flowing to Michigan for blight removal. Under the plan, $100 million

Climate change’s latest casualty appears to be fish — or more specifically, fish brains — as researchers say the carbon dioxide that’s being absorbed into the ocean is causing the scaly creatures to lose their survival instincts. In other words, the fish are losing their minds, The Daily Mail reported. The acid from atmospheric carbon dioxide seeps into sea waters, dissolves and ultimately lowers the pH balance, researchers said. The acidic waters then hamper the fishes’ sensory systems, so they’re not able to distinguish between smells any longer, the scientists went on. When the acid levels get really high, the fish lose their
