That´s $3,400 per wear! Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama has once again stepped out in her $6,800 J Mendel jacket, despite fielding a backlash last time she wore the pricey garment. [Snip] But the last time she wore the embellished garment, in July 2012 at a Buckingham Palace reception in London, political commentators took issue with the fact that she had spent so much on fashion while so many in the U.S. are suffering financially. A post on the Gateway Pundit blog remarked that the design ´cost more than the average American family makes in a month ($4,284)´. ´She does this as Americans continue to suffer through a

Thank you for those observant post. I suggest "Lipstick Grifter Soi Disant Queen." She´s a Queen in her own pea-sized brain perhaps... By the by, why was she disbarred (was she ever an attorney?) and who is now in the P.R. hospital job that she "filled," in the full meaning of that word, in Chicago?

If you have any doubts, it´s now clear we have a couple of grifters in the WH. Oh my.

Mrs. Obama is angry and bitter because she was born black. There is a lot of self loathing in the black community.

Just because it cost $6,800, that doesn´t make it attractive.

It just makes her seem stupid for wearing it.

Wonder what the 0´s had to promise the girls to get them to smile? This may have been the first time I´ve seen the young one doing anything but scowling. Unfortunately, their taste in attire matches the Mooch...who was robbed by about $6000 for that ill fitting top no matter how many times she wears it.

#4 is right, hence all of the plastic surgery on her nose, chin and lips, and the wigs which are all straight haired or softly curled. Everything she has done has been in an attempt to look more white. Since she obviously loathes whites, it´s a sign of some deep seated emotional illness.

Does the woman not own any panty hose? I´ve never seen her anything but bare legged, even in the dead of winter. Trashy. At least her daughters have enough sense to wear them. And the side view looks like she´s wearing an oversized bustle. Is Edwardian clothing back in fashion?

BTW, I read yesterday that the Hawaii extravaganza is 17 days.

I suspect the real point here though is an in our faces one. She can afford to pay over $6K for a single jacket, and we can´t. Lipstick meet pig is right.

OK folks, I´m as disgusted at these low-class jackasses as anyone, but I think the Obamas pay for their own clothes. If she spent that much on the jacket I would hope she would wear it enough to "get the good out of it". We have too many other issues to worry about other than how she spends money from her own pocket. The vacation is a different thing. The taxpayers foot the bill for the transportation and the security at a hefty price.

The true definition of ´style´ is the ability to look like a million bucks in an outfit purchased at Goodwill. I know this for a fact; my mother was known for her style but when I was small my parents had very little. My mother HAD to shop Goodwill since she had no other choice. But with her innate sense of style and great taste she always looked fabulous (for mere pennies).
I don´t even think the total cost of her entire wardrobe over 50 years of marriage cost anywhere close to 6800.00 dollars.

Let´s see Michelle shop Goodwill and see what she comes up with.

A truly emetic announcement from the grim but indispensable Swedish flatpack furniture emporium IKEA: they are considering changing the recipe of their most popular food line--meatballs--in order to help save the world from global warming. If that´s not a strong dump signal for the stock, I don´t know what is. What´s worse, though, is that IKEA actually admits to allowing the kind of food it serves in its restaurants

The price of chocolate could soar over the next few years as surging demand puts further pressure on the global cocoa crisis--and experts predict the demand could become unsustainable by 2020. Experts are warning that a growing taste for chocolate in Asia--particularly in China--means cocoa farmers will need more help to provide a greater amount to export or manufacturers will be forced to use less cocoa in their products. It is predicted chocolate prices will soar to keep up with the rising demand--otherwise consumers will increasingly be offered products filled with substitutes, such as nuts and fruits, to ‘pack out’ chocolate bars.

In 1925, Rudyard Kipling wrote an uncharacteristically restrained and sombre short story called The Gardener. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. I began reading the entirety of the first section of the New York Times at nine years old, and continued that practice, more or less, for decades.(snip) ...the power of reverence, intrinsic to what I call the “cascade” of The Times: the near avalanche-like flow and distribution of information through electronic and print networks: through like-minded network newscasts, magazines, local newspaper s, blogs, daytime talk TV, late-night entertainment, statements at media award ceremonies, the celebrity Twitterverse, etc. The cascade rolls through Saturday Night Live, Jon Stewart, The New Yorker, the mouths of third-grade teachers, Elmo, Madonna and Susan Sarandon …through

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. Mr. Cruz finds himself standing alone a lot these days. His response to the cold shoulders: "The establishment despised Ronald Reagan" before he became president, "but the people loved him." For the 43-year-old Republican, the Reagan name illuminates his political life´s

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?
