Ambassador Kennedy: A star is born
Politico, by Alexander Burns

Original Article

Posted By:Fiesta del sol, 12/15/2013 11:00:11 AM

Caroline Kennedy is a long way from Syracuse. The soft-spoken presidential scion, who four years ago this month toured upstate New York in a short and ill-fated bid for the U.S. Senate, has swept with force into her newest public role as President Barack Obama’s ambassador in Japan. And if the iconic daughter of American political royalty showed herself to be deeply uncomfortable as a glad-handing pol, she’s on her way to becoming something of a rock star in the more dignified world of diplomacy.

Comments:
I bet President Jarrett and Obama wouldn´t leave Caroline to die....

This article, likely having been written 5 minutes after the appointment was announced, was released what..a few weeks after ms. Kennedy assumed the position?

Amazing Mr. Burns/Politico had the self-control to wait so long.

Add Alexander Burns and Politico to the long list of Kennedy water carriers and rump swabs. Her short lived senatorial interest demonstrated that she is dumb as a stump.

I suspect she bought that position with the millions of dollars she made from selling JFK and Jackie memorabilia. She´s been selling they stuff off for years, and there´s nothing O does for free.

Ah,ya know, ah, I mean, like, she will be successful holding a job that is totally, like, without meaning, in these days of instant communication.

But the ceremonial functions, which are sort of a group think in diplomatice circles, will be fun.

She could not cut it as a Senate candidate so Zippy appointed her because of her family name and democrat donations. Now, a month later Politico claims a "star is born". I am with #2.

Despite a family history of criminality.....if you go back and listen to old JFK speeches, he sounds more conservative than GWB.

So....I somewhat begrudgingly wish her well.

Ambassadorships have always been bought and sold.

Didn´t we give Shirley Freakin´ Temple a cushy government job just because everybody loved her as a child ?

Stories about the most womanizing family on planet earth always make me hurl. At least one family member, currently rotting in hell, is also a murderer in my opinion. That´s why I usually try to read stories about them on an empty stomach.

If you want to get really sick, read the transcript of the trial of that Kennedy family guy named Michael Skakel.

Would it be possible for you to cover certain headlines with a Barf Alert - - so that readers would have the option of bypassing that headline without having to read it?

Some things are just too sickening to leave sitting out in the open. This headline is one of them. A Headline Barf Alert Warning System - - HBAWS - - would be most welcome to many readers.

There was a time when diplomats were required to be fluent in French, the traditional language of diplomacy.

Now we have an American ambassador to Japan, fluent in neither French, Japanese nor English; fluent, in fact, in no known language, written or spoken.

Another Kennedy who loves being in the spotlight. She got there because of her maiden name and her money. She is "royal" because that is the way the MSM treats all Kennedy´s even those who cause great pain to people they know. Jack ran around on Jackie even in the WH; Ted killed a young woman and ran away; Robert had affairs and so did his son whose wife couldn´t take it anymore and killed herself; one of his sons died of drug overdose. I´m out of space and patience. You get the drift.

OK, I don´t expect any likes for this post. But, having lived and worked in Tokyo for 6 yrs, speaking the language, understanding the culture…and HATING to say this: the appointment of Kennedy was a brilliant move.
The Japanese culture runs along smoothly on illusion and they don´t care one bit whether she sounds like a Valley Girl or is an airhead or not---someone will always speak FOR her, anyway. Kennedy will always be seen as the little girl standing bravely at her mother´s side as the country mourned and it is this image to which the Japanese react. It´s as though we have given the Japanese a gift of an American icon---as close to royalty as we have. They will do everything possible to make her appointment a huge success.
This is completely a different subject than whether or not she "deserves" this appointment, how corrupt or mixed up her family is or was, or whether or not she´s competent.
Everything she does will be meticulously choreographed to emphasize the strong, enduring, trusting, honorable, and respectful relationship between the 2 countries.
Japan is a country of illusions and so Kennedy fits right in.

Trying to keep the Camelot myth alive must be exhausting. If this dimwit is being called a "star", it´s over. She cannot even string two sentences together articulately without saying "you know" every third word.

Like the Obamas, the Kennedys cannot seem to understand how totally inept they are.

On Pascua Yakui Indian Reservation, Ariz. — Tribal police chief Michael Valenzuela drove through darkened desert streets, turned into a Circle K convenience store and pointed to the spot beyond the reservation line where his officers used to take the non-Indian men who battered Indian women. “We would literally drive them to the end of the reservation and tell them to beat it,” Valenzuela said. “And hope they didn’t come back that night. North Carolina teachers haven´t had a pay increase in five years. They currently rank among the lowest paid in the country. It did so in grand style, rebroadcasting movies from its first day on the air (Gone With the Wind and It Happened One Night). After GWTW, TCM broadcast an interesting interview with host-for-life Robert Osborne conducted by Alec Baldwin. I have been a high volume consumer of TCF roughly since day one. I am a little vague on Ted Turner’s acquisition of the rights to just about every worthwhile movie ever made, but with TCM, he is putting them to good — even ingenious — use. The films

Authorities said Monday that a pair of sex offenders suspected of raping and murdering at least four women probably wore their court-ordered GPS devices during the crimes. Franc Cano, 27, and Steven Dean Gordon, 45, had been required to wear the devices after serving time in prison for sexually assaulting a child under the age of 14. Police on Monday also said that they are now “confident” that there is a fifth victim -- and perhaps more -- in a string of slayings that has been tied to a pair of registered sex offenders. The men were formally Monday charged

Some time back, whenever a big racial controversy erupted, I trained myself into the habit of reading about it at FoxNews.com, just for the unbelievable comment threads. Let’s put it this way: If my friends and I went out to a bar and started playing a “let’s write the racist FoxNews.com comment thread” drinking game, our efforts couldn’t begin to approach what I read there.I wasn’t alone. Liberal websites started feasting on these threads. And so, a couple of years ago, Ailes & Co. got wise. Stories about race were, at least in my disheartened experience, closed to comments.

The most decadent Beltway publication yet conceived, Washingtonian, has outdone itself with its latest celebration of what life is like inside the city fueled by your forcibly confiscated money. The publication recently ran with a profile of White House Press Sec. Jay Carney‘s wife, ABC News personality and working mom Claire Shipman. Carney’s two beautiful children are also profiled in the piece, but the profile itself is largely irrelevant. What is worthy of dissection are the three featured images that add value to the profile. And by “value,” we mean guffaws galore.

The chairman of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs said Wednesday that dozens of VA hospital patients in Phoenix may have died while awaiting medical care. Rep. Jeff Miller, R-Fla., said staff investigators also have evidence that the Phoenix VA Health Care System keeps two sets of records to conceal prolonged waits that patients must endure for doctor appointments and treatment. "It appears as though there could be as many as 40 veterans whose deaths could be related to delays in care," Miller announced to a stunned audience during a committee hearing Wednesday. Prince George undertook his first royal crawl-about today as he attended a parent and baby group with his own, world-famous, mummy and daddy. The eight-month-old was brought along by his clearly proud parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, to the ‘playdate’ organised by The Royal New Zealand Plunket Society at Government House in Wellington. Following his scene-stealing appearance on Monday when the family arrived in New Zealand to begin their three week tour Down Under, all eyes were on the future king as he was introduced to ten babies born within a few weeks of his own birthday, on

A once-prominent socialite was found guilty Tuesday in the 1996 Tucson car bomb killing of her ex-husband after spending years abroad living a lavish lifestyle across Europe. Pamela Phillips, 56, had pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. During the trial that began in February, Phillips´ lawyers told jurors their client had nothing to gain from the death of businessman Gary Triano and that she was the victim of overzealous authorities who failed to follow other leads. They said Phillips was already a successful real estate broker with her own money, and suggested that Triano had

The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. Mr. Cruz finds himself standing alone a lot these days. His response to the cold shoulders: "The establishment despised Ronald Reagan" before he became president, "but the people loved him." For the 43-year-old Republican, the Reagan name illuminates his political life´s

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter — who used her talk show platform in the last presidential election cycle to campaign hard for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney — has taken up the mantra once again, calling on Republicans to give the failed White House bidder another shot in 2016. She made the suggestion during a discussion on Sean Hannity’s radio show while speaking of her new book, “Never Trust a Liberal Over 3-Especially a Republican.” Ms. Coulter also addressed the question of Mr. Romney’s shortcomings by saying that his 2012 loss wasn’t entirely his fault. “I think too much blame, not only in this

Prominent Washington correspondents are accusing President Obama and his aides of knowingly stretching the truth on issues like the so-called women´s pay gap just to create controversy and keep issues -- and the president -- relevant. Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus kicked off the attack last week when she blasted as “demagoguery” the administration´s tactics during the pay gap debate. “The level of hyperbole -- actually, of demagoguery -- that Democrats have engaged in here is revolting,” she wrote. CBS White House Correspondent Major Garrett then weighed in this week in his National Journal
