ObamaCare´s Looming Land Mine
American Thinker, by Lewis Dovland

Original Article

Posted By:DW626, 11/27/2013 5:54:29 AM

Those who wrote the PPACA legislation were much more brilliant than most conservatives have given them credit for. They have hidden a landmine in the way it all works that will ensure an eventual takeover of the entire health care industry by the government. Let me first clarify my professional interest. I have been a vendor of software and services to both insurance companies and providers, and therefore have a deep understanding of the health care industry and what the ACA will do to it. I do not work for any insurance companies or medical providers, nor do I own stock

Poor people need healthcare, nor bogus health insurance. Dowland is right. The bronze plans will leave most poor people with unpayable debts if they have even quite manageable diseases. Richer people with a cash reserve who buy platinum plans (if they can find them!) will do OK, but they always do anyway.

The non-payment of deductibles will bankrupt many hospitals and healthcare clinics in "working" neighborhoods.

I believe the roll out failure was planned- the take over of Insurance companies creating single payer insurance was goal. Obama does not care about poll numbers- He Won! He has armed protection and a favorable judiciary.

He won´t leave in 2016.

I disagree with #2 that the rollout was intended to fail. The rollout was supposed to be smooth so as to capture as many suckers as possible. Then the scenario painted by the author could be enacted with full effect. But this rollout has been so disastrous that it is about to derail their entire plan. And contrary to #3, it isn´t unstoppable. Nothing inspires a congressional vermin more than self-preservation, and the Rats on the Hill will turn on the Won on a dime if they think it will get them reelected. As it stands now, the Rats face getting swept out in a typhoon. Look for them to start fleeing ship the longer this mess goes on.

And enough with this "he isn´t going to leave in 2016." crap. This is still America. A majority of us still believe in the Constitution. He´ll be gone in January 2017, if not sooner, one way or another. Trust me.

Once again Senator Ted Cruz was right the legislation must be defunded and repealed. That is the only choice. No matter how bad the polls get the Democrats along with the msm will protect obamacare. They are ruling (not governing) against the will of the people. How long before there is a revolt? Well the Democrats expect that nothing will happen and that they can squeak by in 2014 and win again with hillary in 2016 perhaps they are right. I have little hope that this legislation will ever been but down.

This is another step in the scheme of passive eugenics.... weed out the undesirables - those without mega amounts of money. How many elderly will just decide to go ahead and die? How many younger people who find themselves broke and unable to afford the continued care they need, will just commit suicide?

The elitists are thinning out the herd so they have the earth to themselves, the gods.

But I still believe there is One who will not be mocked. My trust is in Him. Until then, I remain a TEA soldier in this war.

This may also force the providers to start becoming cost conscious. There is a serious tendency to over test and over treat in part for legal liability reasons and in part because the medical professionals are intentionally isolated from information about how much the hospital or clinic charges for any given service. That information is basic in all other professions. The first thing I learned in my first job out of law school was my billing rate.

Mr. Dovland is exactly right. The system was designed to make us grateful when the government comes riding to the rescue us with single payer. Crushing medical expenses have a devastating effect on family finances. The premiums and deductibles alone with be an unbearable burden. Add to that an accident, a chronic or terminal illness and you have bankruptcy looming for the average family. Hope for a better future for your kids will be impossible. There will be no money for higher education because you will be struggling to feed, clothe and house them. The very worst aspect of this is that it robs people of the opportunity to better themselves. Obama destroyed the American dream with the ACA. It´s that simple.

In the cancer example, I don´t see the cost as such an overwhelming amount. Most people make 100k per year think nothing of spending 30-50k on a car. Or two for that matter.

I´m not supporting asshat´s health care law, it´s the most communistic thing I have ever seen, but I am saying that we, as a people, need to come to grips with the fact that there are things in life that you have to spend money on that aren´t "fun". You can´t just buy the fun stuff and have other people pay for the un-fun stuff for you.

I don´t think the landmine is looming I think it´s exploding in pockets.
The ever impressed, stupid, communist in training Joe Colleges are learning that they are at the top of Obama´s victim list to have their pockets picked.
The fat tattood single moms are next to get their rates changed and high deductibles and of course there´s the ´rich´ families.
That leaves only the blacks, gays and unions that still support and adore Obama and his ´scheme´ of theft of money and freedom from the American public with a health care system in shambles.
Obama will arrive at the end of his rope but the fallout will be on the communist democrats. Don´t ever believe for one second they would abandon their communist leader who put their entire scheme of one party in motion. There will be a granite monument on the national mall and you ´WILL´ like it.

An Ldotter made a suggestion yesterday that needs repeating. Into this fraudulent Communist driven nightmare, where average citizens are forced to reveal personal and financial facts to millions of non security
checked "navigators", also known as Obama organizer thieves, a logical question arises. Why not go to public
anonymously available computers and attempt to sign up, using false celebrity sounding information? Why can´t several million bikers, tea partiers, NRA supporters, country western fans, rodeo riders, Texans, libertarians, Jews for Jesus, drug users, hippies, goals bugs, jam up this terrifyingly corrupt, evil machinery, bringing it crashing down to end it for all time?

As Georgie Patton said, if it was built by man it can be removed by man. We can repeal this monstrosity and get back to reality. It may not be easy, but the key is always clear: control the WH, the senate and the house. Then things can happen. A few choice SCOTUS appointments won´t hurt either.

Obamacare is just a law, it can be rescinded the same way it came into being. The country MUST elect a congress that will end Obamacare and, of course, a president that will sign it into its just death.

The "roll-out" fiasco is Obama´s report card (at last) and represents his intelligence, abilities and management skill in bringing out what he considers his number ONE accomplishment.

He has displayed to all that is a Humbug.

But where is the logic here. How could there be crushing medical expenses when there
will be fewer or no doctors and every one goes to Physician assts? And the hosps are mostly bankrupted or regulated into a Doc-
in-the -box type facility.
Just where are these big bills originating?
Like Mark Levin said last nitem this is a coup,a take-over and ruination of the Constitutional part of the US

Spend a few minutes listening to the audio of a conversation of a radio host and Mike Zullo. Documentation in hard copy is in the hands of a Rep. Steve Stockman and Rep. Wittman is knowledgeable and on board with Stockman to request a Congressional Investigation on obama. We need letter writing, calls, faxes and emails to all in the House to get this started. This is just about the only way we can remove the "problems". The House was forced by response from "We The People" to stand up against obamacare.

Go to: mcsoccp.org to listen, then let´s get started! obama is rapidly pushing his agenda because he knows his time is limited, and I am not talking about the election of 2016. Get any and every person you know to listen to this conversation.

ObamaCare has been ruled a tax and therefore can be repealed in reconciliation by a simple majority vote in the Senate.

If only six (6) of the 53 Democrat Senators realize they are committing political suicide, they can join 45 Republican Senators in a vote to repeal.

Ask anyone who knows about countries that have government run, single payer health systems and they will tell you that everyone does NOT get the same treatment! There are special hospitals where the elite get to go and where you need to have a juiced government contact to get treated. Why we can´t have a congressman getting sick, can we? And if his/her kid gets sick, why that would be distracting to them and might prevent them from looking out for the people! We need to cure what ails them really fast --- and for free --- so they can get back to doing the people´s work. Therefore they will get the top of the line equipment, private rooms and the best doctors at the top hospitals. All the rest of us will get x-ray machines from the 1960´s instead of MRIs or CAT scans, we´ll get the urine stained sheets at the 3 story, 200 bed "clinic" and the teeth-sucking PA who says "What are you complaining about now? I TOLD you I´ll empty the bed pan when I can"

The free market will prevail. We´ll have a thriving black market here competing with foreign markets. My friends are already going to Mexico. I wouldn´t be surprised to see a small sovereign island become the medical mecca in the not too distant future. The wealthy will be able to afford this care, the dependent entitled class will get care for free paid for by the wealthy and middle class and the middle class will do without.

John Roberts may have given the Senate and House the key to destroying Obama Care through the tax designation. Kill the tax funding for any program in DC and it will whither away.

The insurance companies I´m sure would be happy to fill the void and they can be regulated as to cost and services provided so they aren´t excessive. Public support for any government program must be positive to exist.

On another front Obama doesn´t have any meaningful support for giving illegal criminals amnesty. With a nation that now suffers horrible unemployment, why dilute the labor market with people who are here illegally. The reason, and only purpose, is they are potential Democrat voters.

Obamas recent statement that he might issue an executive order to grant amnesty to these individuals is Constitutional heresy.

The man is walking through a field of land mines without a metal detector. This may be the one he steps on that goes Kaboom. Meanwhile, I won´t pay attention to anymore of his illegal Orders. I´m too old to worry about consequences anymore.

The means to repeal is to brand Barack Obama personally as the liar he is.

We need a Constitutional Amendment stating such.

How is this right? Fair? My family suffers because 300 people plus the idiot - decided to change the world.

If this is NOT enough to get Americans up in arms about the statism of a US and the demonic direction liberals are taking this country - nothing will do it. We are doomed.

It is time our leaders - the conservatives rise up and act. We have to stop the infighting that is imploding our mission and unite as one voice against these communists.

What is not being reported: People are not buying into the ACA Øbamacare junk insurance fiasco and that is what is going to kill it in it´s tracks. The "protest" is not in the streets or at the "barricades". The protest is a deliberate inaction on the part of the very people this disaster of legilation will depend on. It is very much like the fabled (though true) "Salt Taxes" that have resulted in so many patient, deliberate, mass revolutions in human history. These quiet revolutions always bein with the masses refusing to cooperate, the government - desperate- cracks down to force them and suddenly the powder keg explodes in violent, destructive blooddy revolution. It can not be stopped. There is a choice ahead for Americans who wish to preserve their freedom. First and foremost- do like the Mexican illegals- do not buy into the program. Protest by killing the beast before it ever get´s it´s ugly head out of the shell.

Have we forgotten that the outline for Obamacare was drafted by a convicted felon while in jail? And that the goal of that plan was a single payer system?

Robert Creamer, husband of Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL, 9th district, Chicago), and even more radical than her, drafted this while serving time for bank fraud.

Here´s my take - As the dem senators profess "shock" and "outrage" at the "unintended consequences" of zerocare, the republicans have to push for a repeal vote before the November elections. There is no need to wait to correct this mistake and they can prove rather than promise that they have changed their evil ways.

The political pressure has to be engineered to be veto proof. The election campaigns are getting under way and they need to know that every American that lost or is slated to lose their insurance is going to be reminded over and over again that this is 100% owned and operated by the rat party.

Aside that some will no doubt consider irrelevant: American Thinker´s headline writers aren´t doing A.T. any favors, at least among its readers who aren´t tone-deaf. Land mines don´t "loom," for Pete´s sake. "Loom" is what tsunamis (for instance) do. There would have been nothing at all wrong with using Dovland´s own word ("hidden"), redundant though it be -- or no verbal adjective at all.

That said, I echo #16´s point. Let Mr. Dovland demonstrate his "deep understanding of the health care industry" by outlining a feasible alternative.

I disagree that it was designed to fail. The Democrats aren´t that smart nor have that much foresight. What they tried to design is a system to redistribute wealth and that is the reason for the high costs for the Peters family under Obamacare. The Peters are paying to subsidize someone else.

The kid on Fox was right. This group will not sign up in the numbers needed to float the Obamacare boat. Without them, it can´t work without massive subsidies from the US taxpayer and this is what I am afraid of. Create enough of a disaster and panic and you will see politicians advocating expanding Medicaid/Medicare to cover everybody.

Doesn´t matter that the country is bankrupt and can´t afford it. Down the drain we go.

Boner is not a leader, at least not ours. He is a Quisling. Somewhere in the white hut is a tiny vial lagelled Boehner, containing two mustard seeds.

Not exactly a fatal flaw in the writer´s thinking, but if the Democrats imagined that bankrupting the providers was the route to single payer satori in real time they´re all rather screwy.

Sure, bankruptcy is handled by the federal government, but except for the case of General Motors and a couple of houses of prostitution in Nevada, the practice has been for the court to direct the sale of assets on the open market.

A bankrupt federal government, with at least one house under Republican control, isn´t going to be buying anything!

Instead, the nonprofit hospitals (the majority of hospitals in this country) will be sold most likely to local interests.

After all, even if the federal government has gone crazy and tried to destroy insurance, and doctors that doesn´t mean everybody else has!

The government owned hospitals won´t be going bankrupt, and neither will the private hospitals. Doctor´s associations will have a difficult time, but individual personal bankruptcies are unlikely. Instead, the association will disband, give the property away to some slumlord, and he´ll rent it back to the individuals for about what they´d been paying through the association anyway.

Remember, corporate investments can evaporate in the twinkling of the eye, but the real assets linger on still available to be used for their original purposes!

Then there are the states. They own many hospitals.

I love this thread because it is relatively free of the we-are-doomed voices and instead points to many ways we can fight.

A major concern of progressives is their supposed interest in the fate of the poor. They purport to be the champions of the poor. But the truth is that they need the poor more than the poor need them, in a symbiotic relationship. As much as 75% of the money allocated to the poor is consumed by the vast bureaucracies that administer this aid. These agencies are actually job programs for college graduates who would often find it difficult to find employment in the private sector. The late William Raspberry wrote a column dealing with Gina, a 14 year old

The clumsiness and incoherence, if not madness, of this administration’s foreign policies are creating havoc around the world. No one wrapped up the story of the chaos better than Sultan Knish did this week: When Bush left office at the end of his second term, the region was mostly stable aside from Iran’s nuclear program. By the time Obama had finished his first term, it was in a state of endless war. [snip] Bush had sought to stabilize the Middle East by removing Saddam. Obama instead destabilized it by trying to remove every government that was in any way friendly to the

Early on in the Genesis chapter of the Bible much is made of Adam giving names to all living creatures. Like everything about the Bible, the meaning of this event is subject to many interpretations, the most often given is that it signals man’s dominion over the other creatures of the earth. I don’t dispute that reading, but to me, the naming description signifies that there can be no real communication among people unless the names we use mean the same thing to all of us. A spade certainly is a garden implement, but if you are in the gardening

The “I’m shocked, shocked” line from Casablanca is too much a cliché to carry any -- umm -- shock value, but surely it fits Putin’s actions against Ukraine. But the civilized world, mainly the Anglosphere, has long shown its utter indifference to human life by ignoring mass killings on a scale surpassed only by the Nazis and the Communists in the last century. More than a hundred thousand in Syria and still going on; perhaps a million or more in North Korea; millions in Africa, uncounted tens of thousands or more in Iran. The one place we intervened was Iraq, with

This week President Obama, following a long string of bloopers that the media underplays or ignores, spelled respect "R-S-P-E-C-T´". It was a fitting blunder in a week in which he and America´s left wing took a series of pratfalls. To start off, Medea Benjamin, master media manipulator and water carrier for countless leftist tyrants, winged into Cairo apparently to lend her inestimable support to the Moslem Brotherhood. The Egyptian government treated her less courteously than did the Democrat legislators who regularly let her and her pinko buddies disrupt Congressional hearings. When Paul Audley took the job as president of FilmL.A. in late 2008, he was astounded to discover that physical production on the $70 million pic “Battle: Los Angeles” wasn’t being done in Los Angeles.“It stunned me that the movie was shooting in Louisiana, and that the state of California was letting this happen,” he recalls. In the subsequent five years, the situation has only worsened, despite the film production incentive program California enacted in 2009, which provides for $100 million a year in tax credits for what’s usually 20% of production costs. That’s significantly smaller than programs offered by other

Nothing better depicted Obama´s illegal tampering with the clear words of ObamaCare -- his announcement this week that he was delaying the employer mandate for medium-sized companies -- than Michael Ramirez´ brilliant cartoon showing the law as a blank page in which Obama had continually changed its words and meaning. Along similar lines, Charles Krauthammer observes: But generally speaking you get past the next election by changing your policies, by announcing new initiatives, but not by wantonly changing the law lawlessly. This is stuff you do in a banana republic. It´s as if the law is simply a blackboard on which Obama

In the business world, a diligent board of directors would have long ago fired CEO Obama. Sometimes it takes only a year of less than expected earnings to result in the termination of a corporate CEO. A couple of underperforming years and a few reasons more, and a CEO would have his bags packed and stowed underneath his buck-stopping desk. A long list of problems -- especially one suggesting even a hint of fraud -- that fails to generate a satisfactory board response would stir shareholders and lenders to demand the resignation of not only the CEO and other key employees,

This week the big story was the tag end of the old JournoList gang trying to spin gold out of the dross of the Congressional Budget Report. The CBO report projected that by 2021 under ObamaCare more than 2 million full-time workers will find it financially advisable to quit work entirely or switch to part-time jobs in order to get more subsidies for healthcare insurance. To most of us who studied real economics or just paid attention to human nature, subsidizing indolence means you´ll get more of it. When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

I live in Las Vegas. I live and breath Nevada politics. Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in the Nevada desert. And Senator Harry Reid’s fingerprints are all over it. I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

Climate change’s latest casualty appears to be fish — or more specifically, fish brains — as researchers say the carbon dioxide that’s being absorbed into the ocean is causing the scaly creatures to lose their survival instincts. In other words, the fish are losing their minds, The Daily Mail reported. The acid from atmospheric carbon dioxide seeps into sea waters, dissolves and ultimately lowers the pH balance, researchers said. The acidic waters then hamper the fishes’ sensory systems, so they’re not able to distinguish between smells any longer, the scientists went on. When the acid levels get really high, the fish lose their
