WASHINGTON — While the country is immersed in Obamacare headlines and a congressional tussle over delays and mandates, the Obama administration is stealthily moving toward unprecedented control over private property under a massive expansion of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Water Act authority. The proposed rule, obtained by the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee in advance of EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy’s testimony at a Thursday oversight hearing, widely broadens the definition of waterways over which the federal government has jurisdiction to as little as a water ditch in a backyard. The Clean Water Act redefinition of “waters of the United States”

It is exhausting seeing articles like this almost every day relating to the crushing power of this corrupt regime. At least in this case there are Republicans working against it. Maybe O´Reilly could spend more time investigating things like this and the heinous nature of 0bama rather than bashing Republicans.

Agreed, OP. It´s exhausting to continue to read about our elected representatives merely "pleading" with this corrupt administration. Letters and requests must be replaced with enforcement of Congress´s authority. They should be using threats of impeachment and defunding.

If we ever see another GOP government--one with some guts--these regulations would be turned on the libs. (Well guys, it is your night in the barrel!)

Declare Occupy Wall Street encampments "environmental hazards" to be broken up and dispersed immediately.

Go after GE for the impact their windmills have on the bird and bat life.

Sue the broadcasters for the injury to public health caused by their many years of electromagnetic radiation. The older the broadcaster, the more they owe!

Require all government employees in public buildings to take the stairs-elevators to be disabled "for the environment".

All public employees to be limited to 2 sheets of toilet paper, while at work. Non flush Compost toilets (what we used to call "outhouses") to replace all conventional toilets in public administrative offices.

I should get a rich consulting contract to come up with ideas like these!!

One regulation after another; one mandate after another, one threat of unilateral movement after another-------just to keep everyone off center and not closely watching obama and getting down to brass tacks on any of his actions-------Benghazi for instance or the IRS, either of which could take him out.
Lots of the blame belongs on the shoulders of Boehner who refuses to call for a Select Committee and the drum beat for a special prosecutor. Is obama holding the threat of an SEC investigation over Boehner´s head for his blatant use of information for Insider Trading? We know obama must know about Boehner´s womanizing in DC with wifey at home and his boozing. No telling what else NSA has captured.

How about storm water from large cities flowing into streams, rivers, oceans? Can you imagine the filth that goes into those storm waters? Oh, that´s right. Big cities are run by corrupt demonrats so the EPA would no doubt give them an exemption. That´s how it works with demonrats. One rule for me; another rule for you.

We have a septic field that needs to be replaced per county regulations. We were told by the inspector that there will be an additional waiting and permitting period because the EPA is now going to also inspect our septic field and drainage. It apparently wasn´t enough that the county and state already do it. Sounds efficient, right?

The progressives are committed to wearing us down. The frustration that we feel when the EPA runs roughshod over us is a useful tool for them. They want us to give up in the face of their bullying. They are going all in to put these regulations in place quickly. They must be stopped. The progressives are fighting on all fronts fearlessly to enact their agenda, and their strategy is to overwhelm the system, and it appears to be working. Is there no one fighting this massive assault? We need warriors willing to go toe to toe with these communists. Doesn´t sound like many Republicans I know. Obama has packed every agency and department with his fellow travelers and they are getting the job done.

Well let´s think who lives on lakes and ponds...hmmmm...not the welfare recipients. This is yet another club to use against people with some assets.
This odd story about the poultry farmer fleshes out the odd story I heard about the government trying to force us to get our chicken from China. We can´t trust China not to poison our baby toys or destroy our homes with their tainted sheet rock. The chicken industry is dicey enough in the U.S. under close inspection, but turning it over to China is insane!

Plank 1 of the Communist Manifesto: Abolition of private property in land and application of all rents of land to public purpose.

John Locke originally wrote: "Life, Liberty and Property." Thomas Jefferson changed this to "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" which was then put in our US Constitution. This was not intended to limit or trivialize the concept of the right of property ownership, but to expand it.

In the Virginia Declaration of Rights written by George Mason just days before our Constitution:

"That all men are by nature equally free and independent, and have certain inherent rights, of which, when they enter into a state of society, they cannot, by any compact, deprive or divest their posterity; namely, the enjoyment of life and liberty, with the means of acquiring and possessing property, and pursuing and obtaining happiness and safety."

There is no aspect of our Constitution that more completely protects our freedoms than this. Thus the communist thrust of the EPA is to divest us of these rights. ACA is the tip of the Rats tail as they dive for cover.

I fear that the most we can expect from our republican house is a hearing or two that go nowhere and are soon forgotten. As a previous poster has suggested, the administration has the dirt on everyone, to include republican leadership. Knowledge is power and the NSA under Dear Leader has been busy.

Not that the semantics are all that important but what we are seeing is more Fascist. The illusion of private ownership of both property and enterprise with the government dictating every aspect of what can and cannot be done. The biggest difference I see between 1930´s Germany and the US now is an opposite approach to national identity. There´s a cool kids club identity thing going on here but a rejection of traditional national pride. I believe that difference relates to the driving force of Fascism being tied to globalism.

The Alinsky tactics used here are always to keep the people off-balance, tense, anxious and fearful. So this administration lobs one bomb after another at us, hoping to wear us down.

But it´s wearing the GOP hierarchy down instead, who, for reasons which defy logic, refuse to start talking about abuse of power, impeachment and unconstitutionality. It would go a long way in good will and confidence if the GOP would seriously go as radical on the right as the Democrats are on the Left.

I´m sick of being among millions of helpless peons who rely on seemingly impotent people we elected to help us out from under this morass of malignant regulations and outright theft of our freedom. The GOP has immense power it refuses to use.

OPEN LETTER TO GOP: Get radical. Stop wussifying our freedom. Stop attacking those who DO speak for us, like Cruz, Lee et al, and start fighting back. Get off your collective arses and do what you were elected to do. You were NOT elected to compromise. You were elected to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and you´re not doing it. Do you care? Or are weekends with your golfing buddies more important?

Yes, imagine McConnell winning his re-election bid in 2014. Of course he´ll ride hard to change the direction this country is going in. He and the GOP have been so successful to date, right?

Congress has the power to stop much of what has been going on. They CHOOSE not to do so. They are either in secret agreement with the Obama administration or the administration has something on our ´esteemed´ representatives. Either choice is hellish.

Being perpetually stuck in the "We´ll take over in the next election" mantra plays right into the hands of the status quo. I held my nose the other day and watched Bill O´Reilly and Bernie Goldberg tout Chris Christie for prez the other night and deride the Tea Party and Conservatives. What beltway chumps. They are already setting things up to blame conservatives again for the next presidential loss. Stuck on stupid, they be.

I´m not a bit surprised at this. Some times back, I read about how the EPA had changed what the definition of a "wet land" was. It was made so that a puddle of rain water in you back yard could be placed under federal control as a "wet land". And heaven forbid is you wanted to build on your own land that had a puddle of water on it. I don´t know what ever happed to that proposal.

They do NOT have the authority to do any of this.

This is how Obie is ´transforming America´...one illegal rule at a time...then it takes years of court cases to straighten it out. They know most people can´t afford to fight them so they use heavy handed tactics against Americans.

Sooner or later this will create major immediate pushback and it will NOT be pretty!

Do you remember who foisted this operation upon the USA? It was Richard M. Nixon, Republican.
We´ve had a couple of Republican presidents since then, and even a time or two of Republican majorities at the same time. Do you recall ANY efforts to abolish or even to marginally restrict the reach of these creeps? Any at all? I don´t.
So much for the "we must just hold our noses and vote for the GOP regardless" bunch.

You need to compare the shock and awe the EPA is trying to unleash on private landowners to that which they impose on business or municipalities.

Here they are are trying regulate a chicken farmer for any feather or bird droppings that might wash off the farm.

A wind farm is capable of littering the countryside with decaying birds and bats, but goes unregulated.

The worst offenders of all are large metropolitan areas such as Boston. They needed a new major waste treatment plant in the late 70s but couldn´t decide on a location. After years of procrastination, they were being fined for failure to act. In the meantime the shellfish industry was closed for hundreds of miles in all directions because of their regular outputs of untreated or partially treated sewage.

Believe that the Jaret Soros cabal is mis guiding their puppet president, right this minute planning their revenge on the people under the cover of mass confusion of the medical scam. Hey, if that shallow ditch in my yard belongs to the EPA, they can come by and clean up the damage caused the last time we got a hard rain. Clean out the weeds, fill in my damaged driveway, replace my old fence posts. Glad they are taking responsibility for flood damage. Oh, they aren´t? They want the rights to my property, but not the responsibilities? Sound very immature.
