Sen. Ted Cruz Bashes Obamacare,
Defends His Dad on ‘Tonight Show’ (Video)

A tieless Sen. Ted Cruz joined Jay Leno for a “Tonight Show” segment Friday that was light on laughs but heavy in political debate. “I’ve been reading a lot about you lately, and they describe you as aggressive, arrogant and abrasive,” Leno opened with. “Accurate?” Cruz responded, “Well, I don’t know that you can believe everything you read.” “Any one of those?” Leno countered. “You know, what I’m trying to do is do my job,” Cruz said. “And occasionally people don’t like that.” Naturally, the conversation turned to where Cruz has been making his mark — his staunch opposition to Obamacare.

Normally, I´m asleep by 8. Yesterday I slept from 6:30pm to 9:45pm, so I thought I might as well watch our Senator. He did very good, despite the Jay attack with the typical mindless liberal questions that will NEVER be asked of a democrat. Senator Cruz got a decent share of the crown applause.

Cruz is so right when he said government and big business are always tied in together. How do you think we got Hitler and other dictators?

Obama imposes his policies

President Obama is imposing his policies directly on federal contractors. This week, he will sign an executive order that would prohibit federal contractors from retaliating against employees who discuss their pay with each other. The prohibition on the wage "gag rules" is similar to language in a Senate bill aimed at closing a pay gap between men and women. That legislation is scheduled for a vote this week, though it is not likely to pass. In addition, Obama on Tuesday will direct the Labor Department to adopt regulations requiring federal contractors to provide compensation data based on sex and race.

WASHINGTON - At the prodding of business organizations, House Republicans quietly secured a recent change in President Barack Obama´s health law to expand coverage choices, a striking, one-of-a-kind departure from dozens of high-decibel attempts to repeal or dismember it. Democrats describe the change involving small-business coverage options as a straightforward improvement of the type they are eager to make, and Obama signed it into law. Republicans are loath to agree, given the strong sentiment among the rank and file that the only fix the law deserves is a burial. "Maybe you say it helps (Obamacare), but it really helps

EVANSTON, Ill.— Northwestern football coach Pat Fitzgerald sided with his university against the formation of a players union in his first public comments Saturday, repeating what he already told his team: "I believe it´s in their best interests to vote no." Fitzgerald addressed the issue for the first time with his squad Wednesday, a week after Peter Ohr, regional director for the National Labor Relations Board, ruled that Northwestern´s scholarship football players were "employees." That decision entitled players to conduct a secret-ballot vote on forming a union to pursue collective bargaining with the school, a move that could significantly alter

The British historian Lord Acton reminds us that “power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” That quote from a letter he wrote in 1887 was as true then as it does today. In light of Benghazi, Fast and Furious, or IRS probes of conservative groups in the midst of a presidential reelection, one might conclude that I’m referring to the corruption of government officials. Perhaps. The real and absolute corruption I refer to is the power of the mainstream media to decide what it believes to be news while further exercising their power to ignore stories that don’t

In Dearborn, Mich., home to over 40,000 Americans of Arab descent, some Muslim parents have complained about flyers handed out at public schools advertising an Easter egg hunt at a local Presbyterian church. The Muslim parents assert that the flyers – emblazoned with the word “Eggstravaganza!” – violate the separation of church and state widely ascribed to the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause, reports the Detroit Free Press. Students at three Dearborn elementary schools received the flyers. A large number of Muslim students attend the schools. The “Eggstravaganza!” is scheduled to take place on April 12 event at Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church

More than 3,000 gun rights activists rallied on the lawn of the Connecticut state Capitol Saturday to protest the one-year anniversary of the state´s stringent gun control laws, passed in the wake of the Newtown school shooting. Organized by the Connecticut Citizens Defense League, the rally lasted from noon to 2 p.m. and featured political candidates, 2nd Amendment rights supporters and attorneys as speakers. The government of Connecticut is on course for a showdown of sorts with gun owners because tens of thousands of the state´s gun owners have defied the new gun laws that effectively banned 100 types of

HARTFORD — Almost a year to the day after the state legislature passed a historic and far-reaching gun control law, thousands of opponents of the law gathered at the state Capitol on Saturday to remind legislators that they aren´t going anywhere. The rally, organized by the Connecticut Citizens Defense League, drew supporters from all over the state and from other states to the Capitol lawn on Saturday, two days after Gov. Dannel P. Malloy commemorated the passage of SB 1160, which expanded the state´s existing ban on assault weapons. "We´re the Constitution State and they passed a law that was

The helicopter kicked up a cloud of freshly fallen snow that partly obscured the ground below, but despite the poor visibility, it gently touched down in a landing that was unremarkable except for the fact no one was at the controls. The helicopter, filmed during testing by the Naval Research Laboratory, was piloted by a 100-pound (45-kg) sensor and software package that officials said can turn any rotary-winged aircraft into a virtually autonomous drone able to fly with minimal input from the Marine Corps troops it was designed to serve. WASHINGTON — After months of wincing in the face of negative ads funded by the industrialists David and Charles Koch, Democrats believe they have finally found a way to fight back: attacking the brothers’ sprawling business conglomerate as callous and indifferent to the lives of ordinary people while pursuing profit and power. By drawing public attention to layoffs by subsidiaries of Koch Industries across the country — a chemical plant in North Carolina, an oil refinery in Alaska, a lumber operation in Arkansas — Democrats are seeking to make villains of the reclusive billionaires, whose political organizations have spent more

In the sometimes separate world of public housing, a realistic fear of crime lingers over 400,000 tenants — and it’s getting worse. Many of the working people and elderly who make up the vast majority of New York City Housing Authority residents live in a constant state of hyper-awareness to avoid becoming a victim. Records obtained exclusively by the Daily News reveal that in the last five years, public housing tenants have been battered by a stubbornly resilient spike in crime. NYCHA’s 334 projects saw a 31% spike in major crime to an eight-year high, while the rest of the city

As a result, the longtime South Side politician was placed in solitary confinement for four or five days more than a month ago, the source said. A hearing was

WASHINGTON- Seven million people signed up, so there is an appetite for President Barack Obama´s health care law, but that doesn´t guarantee success for the country´s newest social program. Big challenges are lurking for the next enrollment season, which starts Nov. 15. Chief among them are keeping premiums and other consumer costs in check, and overhauling an enrollment process that was advertised as customer-friendly but turned out to be an ordeal. "They have demonstrated the law can work, but we are a ways off from being able to judge its success," said Larry Levitt, an expert on health insurance markets

A triumphant President Barack Obama declared Tuesday his signature medical insurance overhaul a success, saying it has made America´s health care system ´a lot better´ in a Rose Garden press conference. But buried in the 7.1 million enrollments he announced in a heavily staged appearance is a more unsettling reality. Numbers from a RAND Corporation study that has been kept under wraps suggest that barely 858,000 previously uninsured Americans – nowhere near 7.1 million – have paid for new policies and joined the ranks of the insured by Monday night.

Former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney has sworn off running again for elected office, but Americans have certainly heard that one before. Speculation that Romney might run again has largely been stoked by the reunion he planned to host last month in Park City, Utah, for members of his 2012 campaign and debate team and a string of recent public appearances. He has appeared on TV news shows 12 times in the past six months. That’s essentially on pace with Michigan GOP Rep.
