Obama takes control of climate
change policies with executive
order that will bypass Congress

President Obama used his executive powers on Friday to create a ´Task Force on Climate Preparedness and Resilience.´ Obama´s plan would be put in place through executive order, bypassing Congress, which has stalemated over climate legislation in recent years. A year after Superstorm Sandy devastated the East Coast, the President signed the order which is designed to make it easier for states and local governments to respond to weather disasters. The executive order establishes a task force of state and local officials to advise the administration on how to respond to severe storms, wildfires, droughts and other potential impacts of

Sounds like another FEMA. But the phrasing makes it sound like he is going after climate change without the EPA.

I figured it would be illegal to build housing resistant to the global warming effects caused by the hot air in D.C.

I only live 1370 feet above sea level. How tall should the stilts on my house be to avoid the rising oceans.

#2 nailed it. More bureaucrats will be hired with salaries in the $75k - $100k+ range with basically nothing to do all day but shuffle paper and harass "we the people" who are trying to make a living. My guess is that most of those hired will be minorities who will gladly take the money and benefits and do whatever they are told ie vote for the Democrats. The House no longer controls spending but rather this affirmative action President we are stuck with.

Once again, we´ve got to read the British press to figure out what the hellaluia´s going on.

How many impeachable offenses has this King Barack guy racked up already? My husband just got a copy of "Common Sense" by Tom Payne, and we´ve been reading it to each other for inspiration.

And I´ll tell you, it used to take a lot less than full-blown Obamunism to cause a revolution.

I counted at least 4 government agencies tasked to help Hurricane Sandy problems. The people affected by Sandy´s destruction are still waiting for help a later.

"You can´t just keep setting your thermostat at 72 degrees any more." Remember that? Now he is acting on it, through this extortion of an executive order.

Dear Power Companies: you must now apply an energy-monitor to everyone who uses your product - electricity. You must see to it that none of your customers sets his thermostat lower than 72 degrees in summer or higher than seventy-two degrees in winter. Those customers who do break my rules will be subject to termination of power and/or substantial fines.

So based upon flawed and fraudulent data that there is man-made climate change, this poor excuse for a POTUS is after another power grab. This has zero to do with Sandy´s damage or with any natural disaster that may occur.

This EO is a temper tantrum that Obamacare is being pushed back. He will always find another way to steal our freedom and steal our tax dollars.

It´s another outrage designed to do three things: One, regulate our power supply. Two, tax us into oblivion. Three, establish another massive government bureaucracy run by ACORN rejects to control our lives, seeing as O´Care may not make it as planned.

Create chaos, keep the people churned and the pot roiling, create despair and anxiety and never, never stop.

If it´s white people devastated by a disaster like the explosion in Texas or flooding of white homes in the mid west he won´t go. If it´s blacks harmed by a hurricane Obama will go to make speeches and hug the black local mayor for a photo op. Simple and the pay is good.

Oh for Pete´s sake. Here´s an economics lesson for all of you. This is why Washington (and MOST Republicans) are going to push this unconstitutional nonsense. The government monetarist and Keynesian fools think that debt and more debt and MORE debt is the way out of our debt problems. If you can´t see that by now, go back and ask CNN´s Harvard med student if you can borrow the book he´s reading. The politicians and banks needed Syria because they still believe a war will kick start the economic engine by going into more debt. So sans Syria, the new "war" will be directed at a better enemy, one that will never be defeated and will always be convenient, easy to trot out with full tilt boogie support from education, media, Hollywood, entertainment. Anyone opposed will instantly be accused of being an enemy. Watch Mitch, McCain, Graham, Boehner speak but DO nothing about this...again, again. The Free Stuff Army will worry about losing 6 percent of their free stuff, blame THAT on the GOP, burp and go back to texting while driving. I promise you, this is supported by the GOP elite.

Since he created this task force without the House´s approval, I can only assume they are volunteers. Where is the money coming from which to pay these public servants? I thought we were beyond broke. Is Obama paying them out of the goodness of his heart? Does it not cost money to set up offices, buy equipment, hire employees? Or do they just magically appear when dear leader says so? Are the dunderheads in Washington okay with Obama ignoring the checks and balances put in place by the founders? The questions are neverending and the answers never come.

If this were true we would only need to multiply our food stamp program by a factor of one hundred to create massive nationwide wealth.

FTA: "The 12 hottest years on record all have occurred in the past 15 years. The task force on resiliency is expected to hold its first meeting this winter."

Leaked emails have shown even the minions of GW know this is a blatant lie. World temperatures have been falling since 1998.

Also, this is not, according to Snopes and Factcheck and their ilk, not an executive order without being given a consecutive number. Ok, then his more than a thousand directives for the IRS, the stand downs, F&F, journalist hits, etc, etc, etc. have no mandate. And as stated above EOs are not laws.

Then, the next question, why do these minion sycophants follow these directives with such religious fervor? Are they all Hawvud grads?

We know there´s pressure, but most are just followers of the philosophy from those who have to those who have not. (Communism)

This Executive Order thing has gotten completely out of had. The only thing the Constitution says is that the President shall "take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed". Leave it to a shyster to push the intent to the extreme. His orders should all receive judicial review if you ask me.

A pregnant journalist is recovering in hospital today after a pro-Kremlin political leader in Russia told two male aides to ´violently rape´ her at a press conference. Nationalist Vladimir Zhironovsky launched his extraordinary tirade after reporter Stella Dubovitskaya asked him an innocuous question about sanctions against Ukraine. Immortalised in Alfred, Lord Tennyson’s poem about the “valley of death”, the Charge of the Light Brigade is remembered as one of the most glorious defeats in British history. The documents overturn much of the established wisdom of the battle and provide clues as to how the calamitous attack, during the Battle of Balaclava, in the Crimean War, came to be accidentally launched. [Snip] The charge saw the light cavalry mount an assault into a valley flanked, on three sides, by Russians. Lord Raglan, overall commander of the British forces, had intended to send the Light Brigade to pursue and

What stops the Earth from looking like Pluto is energy from the Sun. The quantity and type of energy coming from the Sun varies over cycles that range up to 1,500 years long. The cycle we can see with our own eyes, in our own lifetimes, is the sunspot cycle that is normally eleven years long. [Snip] It has become established—for those who are willing to look at the evidence—that climate will very closely follow our colder Sun. Climate is no longer a mystery to us. We can predict forward up to two solar cycles, that is about twenty-two years into the future. When models of solar activity are further refined, we may be able to predict climate

Of all the many absurdities of the great climate change non-crisis which has been pointlessly obsessing our planet this last three or four decades, surely the most egregious is this: global warming is good. No really, it is. As a few bold heretics--such as Australian geologist Ian Plimer in his book Heaven And Earth--have long been trying to tell anyone prepared to listen, the human species is designed for warmth not cold. Ice ages are something we should naturally fear; warming periods are something which for which we should yearn. All the historical evidence confirms this--that periods of warming

The unsubtle attempts to insert Islamist ideas--representing an extremist, politicised form of Islam--into the curriculum of those schools makes for frightening reading. Equally unsettling was the liberal establishment’s failure to correct it. According to a special report by the Education Funding Agency, radical Muslims have tried to take control of teaching by first taking control of school governorships. Excellent head teachers were either reduced to the status of figureheads or forced out

Here we are again, facing Russia across the barricades. How did that happen? Only five minutes ago, the West was celebrating the collapse of Soviet communism: a historic victory which had been achieved without a shot being fired. Russia would now join the free world as a capitalist economy, with something like democratic institutions. [Snip] The mistake, of course, was to think that the Cold War was about what it suited all the parties to present it as being: an ideological argument, a battle of ideas, a contest between philosophies of how men should live. As it turns out, it

A truly emetic announcement from the grim but indispensable Swedish flatpack furniture emporium IKEA: they are considering changing the recipe of their most popular food line--meatballs--in order to help save the world from global warming. [Snip] IKEA--the place you go to, reluctantly, because the furniture is so cheap and practical, not because you want to save the planet for Mother Gaia--actually employs a "head of sustainability"? If that´s not a strong dump signal for the stock, I don´t know what is. What´s worse, though, is that IKEA actually admits to allowing the kind of food it serves in its restaurants

The price of chocolate could soar over the next few years as surging demand puts further pressure on the global cocoa crisis--and experts predict the demand could become unsustainable by 2020. Experts are warning that a growing taste for chocolate in Asia--particularly in China--means cocoa farmers will need more help to provide a greater amount to export or manufacturers will be forced to use less cocoa in their products. It is predicted chocolate prices will soar to keep up with the rising demand--otherwise consumers will increasingly be offered products filled with substitutes, such as nuts and fruits, to ‘pack out’ chocolate bars.

An investigation into Birmingham schools at the centre of a plot to introduce hardline Islamist teaching has found pupils were illegally segregated and non-Muslim students were discriminated against. [Snip] Department for Education inspectors were ordered into Park View School and its sister schools, Golden Hillock and Nansen, after a letter dubbed ´Trojan Horse´ was uncovered apparently outlining a plot by Muslim hardliners to drive moderate headteachers out of schools. The unsigned and undated letter claimed that a small but radical group of Muslims was pursuing its own agenda in the classrooms, with uncooperative headteachers and governors forced out.

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco, President Barack Obama’s assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, insisted that American parents must be vigilant because their “confrontational” children could be on the verge of becoming terrorists. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings. Interestingly, the Harvard grad failed to mention the religion or the motive of brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. Mr. Cruz finds himself standing alone a lot these days. His response to the cold shoulders: "The establishment despised Ronald Reagan" before he became president, "but the people loved him." For the 43-year-old Republican, the Reagan name illuminates his political life´s

If the Rev. John DeBonville could preach a sermon to lift the souls of churchgoers across America, his message would be simple: Stop dressing so tacky for church. DeBonville has heard about the “come as you are” approach to dressing down for Sunday service, but he says the Sabbath is getting too sloppy. When he scans the pews of churches, DeBonville sees rows of people dressed in their Sunday worst. They saunter into church in baggy shorts, flip-flop sandals, tennis shoes and grubby T-shirts. Some even slide into the pews carrying coffee in plastic foam containers as if they’re going to Starbucks. “It’s like

President Obama asserts that 8 million people have signed up for Obamacare, as though that were something to be proud of. In fact, Obamacare has always been a fiasco from a fiscal perspective–a black hole of subsidies and expanded Medicaid, with largely fictitious mechanisms in place to pay for it. As the number of subsidized participants grows, the disaster gets worse. Charles Blahous explains: Our national discussion…is missing the truly significant story here; what is unfolding before our eyes is a colossal fiscal disaster, poised to haunt legislators and taxpayers for decades to come. It is quite possible that the ACA is

“On the third day, he rose again.” That line, from the Nicene Creed, is a foundational statement of Christian belief. It declares that three days after Jesus died on the cross, he was resurrected, a glimmer of the eternal life promised to believers. It’s the heart of the Easter story in seven little words. But how that statement is interpreted is the source of some of the deepest rifts in Christianity — and a stumbling block for some Christians, and more than a few skeptics. Did Jesus literally come back from the dead in a bodily resurrection, as many traditionalist
