ObamaCare´s Black Box
Wall Street Journal, by Editorial

Original Article

Posted By:Desert Fox, 10/16/2013 9:03:02 PM

The White House set low expectations for the Affordable Care Act´s October 1 debut, so anything remotely competent should have seemed like a success. But three weeks on, the catastrophe that is Healthcare.gov and the 36 insurance exchanges run by the federal government is an insult to the "glitches" President Obama said were inevitable. This isn´t some coding error, or even the Health and Human Service Department´s usual incompetence. The failures that have all but disabled ObamaCare are the result of deliberate political choices, which HHS and the White House are compounding with secrecy and stonewalling. *** The health industry and low-level Administration

The best way to repeal Obamacare is to allow its implementation. An aroused electorate will demand it.

#5 is closer to the truth. This is either about voter fraud or money, maybe both. After all, Democrats are all about power- with no care about the horror it inflicts on others - and they are just plain greedy.

The press could have saved all of this (the imbeciles) if they had just reported on the "park" Obama did as a state senator. An equal failure. No planning, no nothing, friends getting kickbacks, money down a rat hole.

Sound familiar? And I be he pocketed the $70,000 or so that is unaccounted for to buy Michelle´s pedicures. (Sorry about that image before breakfast.)

My husband´s small company got its group insurance renewal forms yesterday. The company is Blue Cross. Included in the upcoming premium is $400 (of a $11,000 monthly premium) that goes to the government for Obamacare. So, even if not signed up for the Affordable Healthcare Act, the government collects money anyway.

Most of the IT people I´ve met in government are not especially big thinkers. If you need big-league sort of planning and testing, you´ve got to get it from the private sector...the ones in government are there for the safety factor and know that they only need to produce when they absolutely have to...if then.

Since all this is Obama´s signature achievement he is not going to allow any big changes to Obama-care as long as he is in the White House. So America is going to have to live with what they elected, after all you have to figure that the vast majority of people who quickly rushed out to purchase an Obama-care health insurance policy are people who voted for Obama. The affect on other Americans and businesses will be mainly in increased taxes, until the liberal Democrats feel that the time is right to move progressively forward with their ultimate objective, a single payer government run healthcare system for everyone, except the rich and famous who will always have their own first class private health care programs. One thing is for sure, after the government shut down experience, Obama is not going to negotiate any of this with the Republicans.

FTA: " to beg Congress for a year delay to clean up their wreckage."

Something I don´t understand here (a LOT actually) but to recommend that Obamacare be delayed for a year, which means people can´t sign up, what would the WSJ suggest people do whose insurance companies have already sent them notification that their existing policies have been cancelled? Go without insurance?

The gulf between what´s on paper and reality is huge, not unlike what could be found in many government programs. The appalling manner in which health care was enacted has led to a hodgepodge of ideas. I doubt that Mr. Obama could come close to passing a well-constructed Affordable Care Achievement Test.

Speaking from the doctor´s side, it looks anybody who manages to sign up will have a huge deductible. Not a $1000 deductible like you might have on your auto or homeowner´s insurance, but a $5000 or a $12000 annual deductible.

Imagine the screams when Obamabots go to their doctor and find out that they will have to pay out of their own pockets to get services. Except for paying large premiums in addition to paying for the actual services, how is this different from not having insurance at all?

With deductibles of this magnitude, this is not health insurance as most people understand it, but rather it’s catastrophe insurance. People will be, essentially, self-insured, and will pay all their non-catastrophic health costs out-of-pocket.

Quite a shock when they thought it was all about free health care.

We are now in the freeloader signup period. Next will come the forced compliance. At that point all bets are off.

Don´t forget, along with that huge deductable that comes with the "cheap" bronze plan, once you satisfy the deductible, the plan only plays 60%! you still pay 40%. My guess would be that if you offered cash, most doctors would take 50% of the published prices and you could skip the insurance and still pay less than what you do with the insurance(remember, in meeting the deductible, you have to pay "list" prices for care). But that is not allowed. You HAVE to funnel your money through the government.

so what:

I would NOT like to see the ACA delayed for a year to fix it´s gazillions of problems. Let it continue just as it is. I know the pain to many could be significant but I believe we could elect so many Repubs in 2014 that we would absolutely OWN the federal bicameral legislature along with even more state bodies.
Even the Kos-Kids would beg them to undo this disaster.
With the horrors of Obcare front and center next year we would have the most powerful campaign issue in the history of mankind and ANY dem who supported it could kiss his sorry liberal political career away forever.

and a $218 million settlement for a failed tax system sold to the state of Mississippi:

Q: How does a company with such disasters in its recent past get a sole-source $600+million contract?

A: Obamateurs at the helm.

I just checked out the cost of an individual policy. Wow! The deductible on some is $6,000! That kind of offsets the "low" premium, doesn´t it? And now policies are required to cover maternity costs. Why should a single man have to pay for this? Or a woman who is past childbearing age? Or anyone who doesn´t need it? Also, these policies are quite different from the ones offered before--what happened to, if you like your policy you can keep it. Right now, I am covered at work--but I expect some "surprises" there, too, when the new enrollment period begins.

I agree with #9; in a perfect world our government would listen to us since we are their employers. However this Administration exists solely to promote a certain ideology ~ they have no real interest in anything else and don´t really care whether or not they inflict pain on the country. In fact, I submit that the more pain they inflict the more successful they judge themselves to be.
Even if we´d all revolt, take up our pitchforks and march to the White House that would give them the opportunity to enact martial law ~ just the ´crisis´ they want.
I never thought I would live to fear my own government but it has come to that.
The only thing I look forward to is the divine retribution that will eventually come their way for an eternity.

In a way it´s the oddest bit of ObamaCare propaganda we´ve seen so far. Suddenly ObamaCare is a roaring success, happy days are here again and liberals are euphoric, or claim to be. There are more than a few reasons to doubt this new fairy tale, not least the behavior of Senate Democrats running for re-election this year. In the Rose Garden Tuesday, President Obama reported that 7.1 million people had signed up so far, confirming a Monday night White House news leak. When friends and family members gathered recently at the White House for a private celebration of Michelle Obama’s 50th birthday, one of the invited partygoers was a former paid FBI Mafia informant. That same man attended February’s state dinner in honor of French President Francois Hollande. He was seated with his girlfriend at a table adjacent to President Barack Obama, who is likely unaware that, according to federal agents, his guest once interacted with members of four of New York City’s five organized crime families. He even secretly taped some of those wiseguys using a briefcase that FBI technicians outfitted

LONDON - Peaches Geldof, the wild-child second daughter of concert organizer Bob Geldof who worked as a model, a television presenter and a fashion writer and filled the pages of British tabloids with her late-night antics, has died at age 25. There was no immediate word on the cause of her death at her home in Wrotham, Kent, southeast England. Her father said in a statement Monday: "Peaches has died. We are beyond pain." "She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us," he said. "Writing 'was' destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable? We loved her and will cherish her forever."

A married freshman Republican congressman who campaigned on his Christian, conservative values apologized Monday after surveillance video surfaced purportedly showing him in a lengthy liplock with a staffer. In the Dec. 23 footage, obtained by a local newspaper, Rep. Vance McAllister, R-La. - who ahead of his election last fall ran multiple campaign ads trumpeting his faith and family - is seen kissing and embracing a woman for about 20 seconds at his Monroe, La., district office. The Ouachita Citizen reports the woman is the congressman´s 33-year-old part-time scheduler, who is also married.

Call it the million-worker mystery. A large chunk of American adults are no longer in the labor force. That has left economists divided over how many of them are voluntarily not working-or even looking for work-because they wanted to retire, go to school or take care of family members, versus how many have been forced out because they couldn´t find a job. (snip) Shierholz estimates that there are currently more than 5 million missing workers who are not included in the unemployment rate because they are neither working nor looking for work, but who might be if the job market

The chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee says investigators have uncovered evidence that a former Internal Revenue Service official may have committed crimes as part of the agency´s tea party controversy. Rep. Dave Camp set a committee vote for Wednesday on whether to refer Lois Lerner, who used to head the agency´s tax-exempt division, to the Justice Department "for possible criminal prosecution." Camp, R-Mich., did not specify which laws Lerner may have broken. Lerner´s lawyer, William W. Taylor III, has said she broke no laws. On Monday, Taylor emailed this response to Camp´s announcement: "One word: Ridiculous." Camp´s committee has been investigating

The Democratic National Committee is furious by a conservative website’s ad campaign that depicts Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi clad in a bikini in a provocative pose with her tongue sticking out. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, called on Republicans to press Breitbart News to remove the artwork — one of several suggestive images on the website promoting the new California site. The image of Pelosi, beneath one of California Gov. Jerry Brown’s face photo-shopped onto a flexing body builder, includes the sub-head: “Because you can’t make this s— up.” “To say the least,

Baseball Hall of Famer Hank Aaron compared Republicans that oppose President Barack Obama to the Ku Klux Klan. Speaking to USA Today Tuesday on the 40th anniversary of his then record-breaking 715th home run, the 80-year-old Aaron said that Republicans are hindering Obama’s job performance. “Sure, this country has a black president, but when you look at a black president, President Obama is left with his foot stuck in the mud from all of the Republicans with the way he’s treated,” Aaron told USA Today Sports.

As the House prepares for several key votes on former Internal Revenue Service employee Lois G. Lerner and potential legal action, analysts say she and her attorney have mishandled their case by picking and choosing when they want to talk, and to whom they are willing to talk. Ms. Lerner faces a vote in the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Thursday that could begin the process of accusing her of contempt of Congress. The Ways and Means Committee announced that it will hold a vote Wednesday on whether to officially accuse Ms. Lerner of breaking the law by
